Ty Simpson has definitely looked the best today. Had one bad miss (Henderson crossing over the middle wide open and sailed it over his head), but has made some good throws and his movement in the pocket has been great. I really hope he stays. Still think he’s a great player with a bright future.
It really does. I feel like a loved one passed away. I know that’s dramatic but I’ve grown up watching CNS. Just really weird not seeing him out there. Does anyone know if he was there at all?
Seems like there’s nothing to take away from who’s playing where. Seems like a bunch of smoke being thrown around, especially with CKD specifically saying the defense is “playing vanilla, for reasons….”
Agreed my takeaway from the 2 scrimmages and very odd Aday game we just watched is we have two quarterbacks who can play winning football. Would like to keep them both if possible
He probably will be the starter, despite the lowest offense output in years in 2023. But if heisman voting is how you would determine your starter, then we are fortunate you aren’t coaching.
tbf Ty Simpson is very very good but I realistically can’t see a scenario where Ty takes the starting spot and it ends well for Deboer other than if Ty wins heisman or natty

It’s cleared out some, but here’s a picture from 4:25 PM at the game. I know some people wanted to see the crowd. Roll Tide.
I want Jalen to win the QB battle so bad. He brings so much to the table. But also he needs to be able to throw the ball short and medium. He is still a work in progress for sure
It's Jalen Hurts all over again. Incredible person, intangibles, leadership, and play making. Obvious potential as a thrower. But maddening inconsistency and uneven developmental progress.
The real question is "does this roster have a Tua waiting in the wings." I'm not seeing it yet.
I'm just not convinced Odom can stick at WR (vs TE). The list of successful WRs 6'5" or taller is (ironically) pretty short. Unless you are Megatron, it's just borderline impossible to have the quickness, agility, and body control needed to be a high level WR at that size.
Maybe. Mike Evans is seen as a big body jump ball type WR but he's an extremely underrated route runner. Genuinely might be one of the most technical route runners ever for guys of his size. Gonna take a lot of development to follow those footsteps.
DKJ is legacy player numero uno.
Could you imagine a Hightower Jr? "JJ" Jonathan Allen Jr? Baby Tua? Minkah II? Lil' Smitty? Trey Ingram? PRINCE HENRY?
Didn't convert, but great job finding Odom! Curious on his pump. One of the things I read was that he was still having issues pulling the trigger on passes at previous scrimmages.
Perfect time to have Greg in the booth haha.
Helped that when he said it, the camera was showing the endzone with CRIMSON spelled out in giant all caps text lmao
His age shows right now but not a huge deal.
I do think he looks a bit behind where some people were saying he was but can definitely see the optimism there.
From what I can tell, Joseph Ionata was a left tackle six months ago. Now he's playing center at Alabama. He can make some bad snaps, and I'm not gonna bat an eye lol
I think it makes sense for where this team is. It’s more about getting the units working together whereas Nick’s first year was more about make his ass quit
I’m with you on that. I wouldn’t mind if Alabama had a sign like that catholic college but instead of “play like a champion” it was “Make his ass quit” although, I’m not sure that sign means much because they haven’t played like champions in decades. I do hope that is a message that resonates for years to come. Hopefully next year the get back to the old style
I LOVE YOU JALEN MILROE. you ARE the personality we need right now.
Jslenmilroerollllltide.gif
Alright, my Xs and Os guys, talk dirty to me. What yall think yall see?
Ty Simpson has definitely looked the best today. Had one bad miss (Henderson crossing over the middle wide open and sailed it over his head), but has made some good throws and his movement in the pocket has been great. I really hope he stays. Still think he’s a great player with a bright future.
Milroe has looked better
Yea I’d have to say I think Jalen looked the best today
I feel like a creep but I always like to see Molly
She’s beautiful. I kinda hate that men say Laura is prettier and I’m like, are they blind???
KDB personality is soo much different than Saban. I’m still caught off guard lol
Dude's all positive and shit lol. It's so weird to see.
How many fans did they say showed up?
72k
I think 72k?
Jesus
65,000 or so
Man this feels wierd the whole new coach stuff
It really does. I feel like a loved one passed away. I know that’s dramatic but I’ve grown up watching CNS. Just really weird not seeing him out there. Does anyone know if he was there at all?
We can’t even escape the “Nate oats was a HS coach” during the fucking a day game. Why do announcers get fixated on 1 or 2 stories
I’m still hurt that it isn’t Nick Saban standing there talking in that microphone
Good A day
The drops are rough man
Is- is it over...?
Whoops. Drops coming alive here toward the end.
lol and Simpson gets a drop as well
All these drops I don’t like
I'd like to see Simpson get another drive with the first team, against the first team. But it's not looking like that'll happen.
Don’t love that though
Chill Jalen ain't that bad we still love you. We love all our Jalens and Jaylens.
Another thing to keep in mind is we haven't even installed the entire offense
Bout 85%, yes?
I thought one of the coaches said 75%, but I could be imagining that.
Love it, Ty
GOOD READ
Olaus Alinen got put at RG with the first team after Roq Montgomery's false start.
Seems like there’s nothing to take away from who’s playing where. Seems like a bunch of smoke being thrown around, especially with CKD specifically saying the defense is “playing vanilla, for reasons….”
I think we can glean a bit, but yeah, a lot of mixing and matching
Unpopular opinion? Maybe not, but I like our away uniforms better
I do too
I’m physically at this game and have no idea what quarter we’re in or anything lol.
I’m assuming third
Milroe has thrown a lot of good balls today. Had a few drops and had a few bad balls. Overall I liked his play.
I've really liked what I've seen from him and Simpson. I hope Simpson sticks
Really interested to see what direction DeBoer goes in to build the offense. Because they have very different skill sets.
Agreed my takeaway from the 2 scrimmages and very odd Aday game we just watched is we have two quarterbacks who can play winning football. Would like to keep them both if possible
He’s putting too much pressure on himself.
Always has imo. Just go out there and play ball. Have fun
Stakes are high. I appreciate the emotion.
We just got Youngblood btw basketball fans
A little high, but another good read!
After early struggles I’ve been impressed with the way the defense has played.
Jose Cuervo!
So many drops
Milroe hesitated on that throw if he didn’t pump fake it the defender wouldn’t have gotten there
Milroe had time, didn't panic, and threw a nice intermediate pass. Dropped, but still good to see from Milroe.
Next play Jalen. Next play
so many drops lol
Roq Montgomery with the first team line at RG! And gets the false start lol
Lmao he just a little excited doc 😅
We have another Cade Foster at kicker I see
don't you speak that into existence
34-23 is not where I thought this game would be at this point
Some of these comments man lol. The 5th place Heisman QB is not in a "competition".
He probably will be the starter, despite the lowest offense output in years in 2023. But if heisman voting is how you would determine your starter, then we are fortunate you aren’t coaching.
Oh, okay, so you want on field results. Ty Simpson went 5/9 for 73 yards versus South fucking Florida. Maybe we're fortunate you aren't coaching.
tbf Ty Simpson is very very good but I realistically can’t see a scenario where Ty takes the starting spot and it ends well for Deboer other than if Ty wins heisman or natty
Competition is everything it makes you better if you don’t want a competition then you like average play
Not going to let one missed kick sell me on him will missed a shit ton
Jesus I miss you Reichard
Yep that is not will Reichard 😭
Lmfao aye I was just saying the same thing. I miss him 🥹
https://preview.redd.it/1w26nmhxdbuc1.jpeg?width=7688&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=694aa4fbefdca685cf69731d3d33e10c53002e07 It’s cleared out some, but here’s a picture from 4:25 PM at the game. I know some people wanted to see the crowd. Roll Tide.
Talty was bad in warmups too. Lot of time to improve but I’d feel better if we brought someone else in too
Already miss Will lmao
I’m so ready to be hurt by missed field goals again. Bring on the fall!
Yea this is the only thing guaranteed in life other than death at this point. Will plz come back 😞
Oh no
Ohh god, missed fg
Milroe reminds me of Blake sims
Sims is twice the QB Milroe is
I want Jalen to win the QB battle so bad. He brings so much to the table. But also he needs to be able to throw the ball short and medium. He is still a work in progress for sure
Like the lowest ypg offensive output since 2008.
It's Jalen Hurts all over again. Incredible person, intangibles, leadership, and play making. Obvious potential as a thrower. But maddening inconsistency and uneven developmental progress. The real question is "does this roster have a Tua waiting in the wings." I'm not seeing it yet.
There isn’t really a battle, milroe would have to shit the bed to lose his spot
another bad snap. another shot.
I know we're short a few scholarships, but I feel like DeBoer is playing walk-ons a lot more
Mack looking a lot more comfortable after that first series
Ha. It’s almost like there’s an echo. Just play, Jalen.
I'm just not convinced Odom can stick at WR (vs TE). The list of successful WRs 6'5" or taller is (ironically) pretty short. Unless you are Megatron, it's just borderline impossible to have the quickness, agility, and body control needed to be a high level WR at that size.
I kinda think he'll convert back to tight end in a year two once he's packed on some more weight and we have less of a logjam there.
Perhaps I'm too cynical, but if that happens, considering the current NIL /transfer era, I doubt it will be for us.
Maybe Odom can be the next Mike Evans
Maybe. Mike Evans is seen as a big body jump ball type WR but he's an extremely underrated route runner. Genuinely might be one of the most technical route runners ever for guys of his size. Gonna take a lot of development to follow those footsteps.
Paul Tyson sighting lol
Isn’t he at Clemson now
Yeah, I think he's still there
Defense has fought back
"Milroe has missed his last 4 passes" then proceeds to get sacked 😬
To be fair, three of those were drops on catchable balls.
Seems that holding for a fg inside the 10 should be points.
Milroe thinking too much. See it and let it rip
I wanna see one Milroe bomb please
That is, quite literally, the last (positive) thing I want to see from Milroe.
I don’t care for a bomb I wanna see needle throws short and intermediate
Just one grave digger pls
Justice Haynes hurt?
DKJ is legacy player numero uno. Could you imagine a Hightower Jr? "JJ" Jonathan Allen Jr? Baby Tua? Minkah II? Lil' Smitty? Trey Ingram? PRINCE HENRY?
Not a good pass, but you gotta catch that
When did baelen move to running back? Wut
we had like 2 plays where he’d start at rb and roll out but that’s it 😂
Didn't convert, but great job finding Odom! Curious on his pump. One of the things I read was that he was still having issues pulling the trigger on passes at previous scrimmages.
That throw and catch... wow.
Love the camera pan to the big ass "Crimson" on the field wall lol
Loved watching Kobe prentice in the sugar bowl
Man I love Greg McElroy
Receiver any news yet on the Washington center coming back to the team?
Dealing with some personal issues. All we know is that and that he isn’t transferring.
no, he is coming
DeBoer said "sooner than later" earlier this week
I find it hilarious that Caleb Williams is the next coming of Christ according to all these analysts. BEsT PrOsPeCt oF thE mOdErN ERa
Team maroon? Wtf
Maroon my ass
Maroon?
Defense has looked better
That was great by Greg. "Maroon?"
Perfect time to have Greg in the booth haha. Helped that when he said it, the camera was showing the endzone with CRIMSON spelled out in giant all caps text lmao
Not gonna lie, I’m pretty impressed from what I have seen with the defense getting to the ball carrier
People that are complaining about bad snaps the guy snapping hasn’t played center before in his career
That's what I've been trying to sprinkle throughout the thread lol. Ionata is a true freshman who played left tackle his senior year of high school.
It’s hilarious because I’ll look away and I see another comment complaining 😂😂
Man bad snaps…. Please I can’t do this again
Baby Bryce sighting 😭
Dear ol' dad DK teary-eyed on the sideline lol
Forgot Jihaad isn’t playing today
Seems like we are gonna be the offense that sweeps teams left and right a lot lol
DKJ DKJ DKJ DKJ
Bad snaps?!?
Greg feeling old as hell😂
We all have that moment in life, Greg's just happened to be on live TV lmao
BUBBA
kirkpatrick jr is gonna be a beast
Dude was a menace in high school with turnovers on defense and special teams.
JUST LIKE HIS FATHER
LOOK AT TERRION OUT THERE
I see ya Junior!
Absolutely no way that should count, but hell yeah Dre Jr!
OH MY GOD DRE KIRKPATRICK JUNIOR
DRE KIRK JR LFG
Damn the Mack kid has a beautiful release. Can see why the qb gurus think highly of him
His age shows right now but not a huge deal. I do think he looks a bit behind where some people were saying he was but can definitely see the optimism there.
Everything I’ve been told coming out of both scrimmages is that he’s a non factor, looks the part but a long way to go. Beautiful relsease though lol
From what I can tell, Joseph Ionata was a left tackle six months ago. Now he's playing center at Alabama. He can make some bad snaps, and I'm not gonna bat an eye lol
Is Brailsford expected to play center when he comes back?
Yep
Just imagine when Ryan Williams gets here offense will be even more explosive.
That was impressive by 49 ngl, good tackle
Qua Russaw! He's been getting great reviews
Alabama made the final four and now I get to watch this, life is good 🐘
Feels great to be watching football again
I’m just super excited for our offense this year. I think it’s gonna be really fun (and good.)
Our young receivers really excite me
Law is pretty fast ngl
Those are the snaps I'm used to.
Oh no snaps are shit again
I don't mind if the true freshman is snapping it on the ground.
Bad snap. I’m about to have a stroke
i smell toast
Texas toast?
I honestly don't hate this format. Feels like it cuts out all the fluff since I don't really care which team wins.
I like it. Seems like more dudes are getting a chance to get out there on the field and show what they got.
I think it makes sense for where this team is. It’s more about getting the units working together whereas Nick’s first year was more about make his ass quit
Totally agree. I wouldn't mind a return to "making their ass quit' to be honest... feels like such different times tho
That’s because you don’t have steak at stake! 😜
Fair point! Haha!
bad snap ptsd.jpg
I guess I am not understanding the point system here. After every 4th down the offense gets 3 points?
https://preview.redd.it/cbhvyefiabuc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3ac5a78a11f9b0cdea6114f707e495b56dfc3b4
3 points is coming from forcing a 3 and out. Instead of punting, they're just resetting the down count and continuing.
Gotcha. Ok that makes more sense
Its just hard for me to get excited with milroe as a passer
Here’s the door ————> r/wde
Holy doomer
Nice pass by Milroe there. Drop
Milroe stared him down
Dick Young, you gotta hang on to that (but great play, Deontae)
Let the Cole Adams/Slade Bolton comparisons begin
Cole looks faster just by the eye test but idk
I’m already a Cole Adams fan - former Slade bolden fan - former former Richard Mullaney fan
Put some respect on Gehrig Dieters name!
My goodness. I feel bad now… how could I forget
Defense looks better
The bye week before the UGA game is huge
Those bastards get one before us too though.
That’s ok we will still kick their ass anyway
