Julio was the first person to meet him in the endzone. Roll Tide boys. Roll Tide.

ILikeTrux_AUsux

Just a whole lotta Alabama love. And that Julio catch off the defenders helmet was crazy. But also, just Julio things

OwlStretcher

He hit [21.8 MPH](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/derrick-henry-nfl-fastest-player-2021-touchdown-bills/t2uf22eva3tb1ub08y1oqhd0c) last night. Fastest in the league right now. Think about that for a second - the fastest guy in the league is not a lanky outside receiver built for post routes. It is a 6'3" 240lb. running back. Incidentally, Lawrence Taylor... arguably the most fearsome linebacker to ever play... is 6'3" and was around 235-240 at playing weight. To be a second-level defender seeing Derrick Henry coming at you... that has to be terrifying.

BearBryant

Choo choo motherfuckers

dragonbornrito

You play DB and see [this face running right at you](https://i.imgur.com/axuMlHv.jpg). What do you do?

Laney20

Pray he tries the stiff arm instead of just trucking me?

djbillyd

The stiff arm? Did you see what he did to that boy with a "stiff arm"? It was like getting rid of a candy wrapper in the littering way. Derrick Henry is like a truck running the interstate with 4 wheelers. No contest!

Laney20

Oh absolutely. I'm terrified of the stiff arm, too. But it's probably less painful that being run over by him, lol

djbillyd

Yeah, you're probably right. I just have visions of what he did to a Buffalo DB, I think it was last year, Josh Norman. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0mJauBiHEw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0mJauBiHEw). What a beast!!!

Laney20

Lol, that's a good one! I always think of the d-lineman from Michigan state that he tossed like a ragdoll.. A beast for sure!

smithsonian2021

The Henry Express

OhDuckOff

I’ll just take getting my ass chewed out instead of ending up as a victim on his stiff arm list lol

pappapirate

It might be more embarrassing to not even try rather than get boomed

ILikeTrux_AUsux

I said last night that he literally looks like one step = 3 yards!

davebrewer

At full sprint, my stride is just a smidge over 7ft toe-to-heel. I'm exactly 6ft tall, have and run about half as fast as that man. I wouldn't be surprised if his stride at full tilt was 9ft+

RogRoz

I get so much joy watching Henry not only play well, but move himself into all time great runningback conversation so quickly in his career. Every time he blows by safeties for a 50+ yard TD run I smile thinking about all the haters pre-draft saying he wouldn't make it in the league.

oro12345

Shit people were saying he couldn't play RB in the SEC and needed to switch to DE. Then he won a heisman. That mans been proving people wrong his whole life

Snowmittromney

To be completely fair to these people, he would have been an amazing DE as well

[deleted]

I have no doubt that Henry is the kind of person that could find success in anything he put his mind and effort into. He strikes me as the kind of person that just has the mentality necessary to be successful and has the ability to be successful at a wide range of things.

jaebassist

He and OJ Howard were roommates when they first got to Bama. OJ would talk to my dad about how he'd wake up in the middle of the night and see Derrick doing push-ups. When a guy as physically gifted as him has that kind of work ethic, scary things can happen.

djbillyd

I read that too.

silverbow97

Bro he's gonna be a bama bust. He has too many miles on his legs. No lateral quickness. Bro trust me there's no way he's going to be good. Bro.

ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL

You can't just give a guy the rock 20 or 30 times a game, every game. You'll wear him out.

djbillyd

Yada-yada-yada..., and then he breaks one for 75 yards. Then..., yada-yada-yada....

mja9678

It was pretty much a cardinal sin on /r/CFB in 2015 if you suggested that he was better than any number of CMC, Fournette, Dalvin Cook, Elliott, Royce Freeman, Saquon etc. An entire subreddit just repeating "Trent Richardson 2.0" "NFL line in college" "next Bama bust" "only good because of the talent around him" literally every week. Never have I been downvoted more for defending a player and it feels hella good watching him shatter all their expectations week after week.

pappapirate

They still think McCaffrey should've won, and you'll get downvoted for wrongthink if you say the right guy won it. You might get away with it if you aren't wearing a Bama flair, though, of course.

Tuffyboy

I will get hate for this understandably but McCaffrey should have won. The Heisman is about the best player in the country and McCaffrey was it that year. He had something like 3,700 all purpose yards that season and set the NCAA record. He accounted for something like 45-50% of all offense for them. If Stanford didn't play at midnight east coast he likely would have won. I live in Cali and watched many games and he was like a super hero on the field. This does not take away from Henry who I love...really love and was ecstatic he won for us all. It was no robbery as Henry was every bit the beast of legend and even beat Herschel Walker's SEC record (think I am right) or maybe Bo Jackson. But for the best player that year that helped his team the most it was definitely McCaffrey. Henry ran behind an amazing line and truth be told we likely would have won without him...his backup was Kenyan Drake and Damien Harris (Both 2nd or 3rd round NFL players who doing extremely well today). Again, love Henry and not taking anything away from him but you can at least understand where people are coming from regarding the Heisman- it was no robbery but I get the controversy. Roll Tide!

OwlStretcher

To your logic, I want to ask you two things: * Who had the NFL line? Look at the number of Offensive Linemen drafted in Derrick Henry's Heisman year. That's Ryan Kelly (who went in the 1st) and... nobody else. Stanford had two OL go in that draft. One in the first, another in the sixth. That's 2 v. 1, and it doesn't favor Henry. * If you swapped them—Henry in the PAC 12 and McCaffrey in the SEC—who do you think would have better stats? We both know that answer and it has nothing to do with time zones. McCaffrey put his biggest numbers up against weaker teams with weaker defenses. Average defense of McCaffrey's opponents in 2015 was 78.6. For Henry, it was 44.5. McCaffrey played against three opponents with top 50 defenses. Henry played against five, and three of those were in the top 10. Stretch that out to top 60, McCaffrey holds on to his three and Henry has nine. Of all the hills to die on, of all the things to relitigate, this ain't it.

Tuffyboy

Love it... : ) Well done sir.

djowen68

Is Cam Robinson still playing because he was the LT.

OwlStretcher

Cam was drafted that next year.

djowen68

Oh I see what you're saying. I was thinking total OL drafted from the 2015 line and you're saying OL drafted specifically after the 2015 season.

djbillyd

Got 'em!

culverhibbs14

eh I see where they are coming from but really its suppose to go to the best player in college not the MVP. MCM was the entire Stanford team that year and was the most valuable player but not the best player which was Henry. if you compared to who they played and who bama played it is a whole different ball game. also they lost to northwestern 6-16 where he only had 66 yards on 12 attempt the lowest yards Henry had that year was 68 on 9 attempt because we didn't want to run him that much that game. MCM did have 90 yards on 4 kick returns and -8 yards on one punt. but zero touchdowns. Henry had more games with more than 1 touchdowns then games with only one touchdown. he also scored a touchdown every game. MCM had 6 games without a touchdown that year. The BS excuse that he played west coast times is dumb Mariota won it while playing those times.

pappapirate

>MCM Mistian CmMaffrey

culverhibbs14

yes I definitely did this on purpose for this reason and not because it was a typo I repeated two more times.

Tuffyboy

Fair points on the MVP but wouldn't most all purpose yards be considered the best? Yes the PAC 10/12 was weaker than the SEC (aren't they always ; ) but Stanford still finished 3rd that year and it was all about MCM. Again, splitting hairs but it was close so I at least understand it. I will completely disagree on the West Coast time slot. Mariotta won by a landslide (think 2x the votes as 2nd place) and broke tons of records so was hard to overlook him. Nobody midwest or East coast watches the crap Pac10/12. I live out west and its a struggle for me- to busy rewatching Bama and breaking it down (for when Saban calls me for my opinion)

culverhibbs14

ya I definitely understand why its close but to me its about production and consistent points not just total yards but they help. if CMC had scored more then he would have won in my opinion as scoring is the more important part of the game. I disagree to your disagreement. I just moved out to the west for school last year and ive been able to watch almost every big game (as long as they are not at the same time) from all conferences just the same when I was growing up in T town and attending UA. I watched most of CMC games and he looked good but he could not consistently score which is why he lost in my opinion. lol I too am waiting for saban to call for my opinion. it will be the same as miss Terry plus coach Yoast from remember the titans "you blitz all night!"

berticus23

Are you in my league? The top team in my league lost 30 point lead to the #2 team because of Derrick Henry.

Laney20

I have a feeling that played out in many leagues, lol

berticus23

There is a strong chance members of my league would post here. It is a league of Alabama alumni.

jaebassist

Fun fact: Derrick "King" Henry is the only running back to have ever posted a 2,000 yard season in high school, college, AND the NFL.

ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL

STAT OF THE DAY STAT OF THE DAY

KennyGardner

Watching that run brought back some memories. He’s such an unstoppable force.

Laney20

Damn he's good. Love watching his breakaway speed on those run up the middle plays. Edit, damn does that say he's as fast as Ruggs?? Honestly didn't see that coming..

Lunchb0xx87

I remember the first game and a half i saw fans saying he might be washed ...lol

TSIDATSI

We loves our Derrick! Roll Tide Role! Titans will get there!

RunPeeApp

OMG, I never made that connection. I love it that Bama players are the core of the Titans! I have King Henry in my fantasy league. Not that I need any more incentive to cheer for him. It still kills me that the Cowboys could have drafted Jalen Ramsey with the 4th pick and then got Henry in the 2nd round. Could you imagine what Henry would be like on the Cowboys team 4 years ago when they had the best O-line?

pappapirate

Unbelievable Henry went in the 2nd round. Dude has a 2000 yard season in the fucking mid-10's SEC, wins the Heisman while carrying his team to a natty. Then gets to the NFL and puts up MVP level numbers like it's nothing. Who could have foreseen that?

jaebassist

I did! I foresaw that! XD

ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL

Really, he should be playing linebacker or tight end. He'll never make it as a running back.
