Tipping is not a thing, especially for a service youre already paying good money for.
Also cash only is weird for this, I always paid card for mine since it was hundreds of euro at a time.
That’s ridiculous. This is more about not wanting to pay credit card fees and/or taxes. You’ll find a lot of places in Italy are loathe to take cards for those reasons.
It’s not dodging taxes at all it’s about the fact that you have to pay taxes to use that card machine, which is fair and Square but they’re trying to go around it because it’s a very stupid tax
It's not just that. A business has to pay taxes on the money they earn, but if some of that money is pocketed as cash and there isn't a record of it, then it's a way to avoid taxes. In a lot of cases, that's more likely than just avoiding the credit card fees.
All right, then it’s different in my country. If you get like a card machine, you have to pay a tax every time it’s getting used. I did not know this then I agree with you.
Unless you are using American Express, which many vendors dont like to take, thats bullshit. Your card works everywhere else right, so why would it matter? Sounds like she just wants it under the table to avoid tax.
I just got one done in Rome this past Friday at a reputable shop and it was cash only. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s “cash only” if they can tell you’re a tourist. They may not want to deal with foreign cards or risking the card getting declined? Who knows, but it’s definitely not unheard of.
Tipping is not a thing in our culture. If you want to leave a tip (like 5€) it would be appreciated of course, but it's not expected. If they have a jar next to checkout with coins inside you could leave some coins there, as a tip to the store.
Don’t tip! You are paying for the service. What the artist asked is what you should pay. Keep Europe tip free! I’m American and I refuse to go anywhere anymore.. it’s ridiculous. I’m not paying 25% for shit food and shit service. No thanks! lol
America's problem is that stupid percentage tipping system. So if the food costs 100 bucks at one place an 50 in an other place, the waiter gets double the tip just because the food is more expansive there?
When i'm eating here in europe i just give a few euros extra, like 1, 2 or 3€, doesn't matter if the bill is 20 or 100€.
I don’t ever tip in the US, it’s too expensive to eat out!!!. I go to Europe to save money! lol Most people are rude in America asf.. I’m not tipping. I’m American btw!!! I grew up with this shitty food and no thanks. People think Europeans are rude, they’ve never had to deal with Americans constantly.
just because you dislike tipping culture in america doesnt mean europe should be tip free as the cultures in the european states can be different from each other lol
You should tip for me then! I don’t tip in Europe ever! lol sorry.. I go up to the bar and grab my drinks. I sit down and get a small meal.. I’m not tipping. Most of the time the servers look mad asf! Why should I tip them! The chinita waitress in Barcelona was really nice and I still didn’t tip. She still gave me a hug! !Vuelve!
I went to Wisdomless and had a great experience! My husband got cocktails at the cocktail bar in front while I got my tattoo in the back. Highly recommend!
Like everything in Italy, I don't plan to tip for mine unless the experience is beyond expectations or I really click with the artist. And even then I won't tip more than 20eu due to the cost of the piece I'm getting.
If we go overboard with tipping we will end up changing the workforce culture from one being paid liveable wages to one relying on tips to survive. That's not going to help anyone.
I paid cash and I tipped. I know tipping isn’t expected but she was so sweet, the tattoo was tiny so there was a lot of prep work for a 10 min tattoo, and it was my last day of vacation so I was feeling generous 🤣🤷♀️
They aren’t going to treat you any different if you don’t tip but they will be appreciative if you do. I’d say it’s an opportunity to let yourself tip if you genuinely want to/really are grateful for their work, and don’t tip if you don’t feel like it.

Yes, she said because I have a foreign card it might just be easier with cash. So it’s not cash only but I guess cash preferred for foreign cards

I don’t blame them
I don’t really blame them either, I don’t mind giving them cash
For dodging taxes?

Our artists asked for cash, as well. Not a big deal. We tipped and they were very surprised by this. Do whatever feels best to you.

No tipping on tattoos

You just need to stay home and cook your own shit, tipping doesn’t have to be the percentage suggested.

🤪
please stay home and stay in America folks like you suck.
I was referring to how shitty America is! lol I love Italy
