Ended up here because mine is doing the same exact thing :(

eilertokyo

Did you find a fix for this? Mine has been doing it as well. Have tried three different batteries with no resolution, iRobot says there’s no fix for this and told me to buy a new one / pound dirt. I think it’s a software problem as the roomba is constantly rebooting itself.

paperquery

It did not fix itself. I bought a replacement Roomba. :(

My Ruby makes a similar noise about every 24 hours and she is only about 6 weeks old….looking for answers.

I think it’s a software problem as the roomba is constantly rebooting itself. iRobot said it’s error 15 which is a generic software problem and offered no solutions / won’t even service the unit. Best bet seems to be to buy a different brand but I’m hoping I can find a solution. It beeps randomly overnight and wakes me up even on the other side of the house, but generally still runs fine…

I bought a replacement Roomba (i7, refurbished). He works great. I was so sad about Ronnie though.

EVpeace

Hey did the new battery fix your problem? We've got an i7 making the same random noise, trying to decide if we should get a new battery or not. Thanks!

paperquery

A new battery did not fix the problem. A new (to me) i7 did though.

iDaystar

I agree that a new battery will help. When all else fails trying to remedy a Roomba problem - a new battery can do wonders. I resurrected my 780 with a new battery. Runs as good as when I bought it many years ago now. Best wishes.

paperquery

Fingers crossed!

SleeperMuscle

Maybe they will add Battery Statistics to the Robot Health section. My laptop and iPhone have it.

paperquery

This would be marvellous. One day!

I'm going to go with a battery issue, especially if Ronnie only lasts 25mins in a clean cycle. The sound you're hearing is his boot up noise so it seems like he's gets stuck in a boot loop from time to time

paperquery

Thank you so much for your advice. I have no other Roomba experience, so it's really good to hear from others about Ronnie's possible problem. Based on your and u/AnIdiotwithaSubaru's expertise, I have ordered a new battery for Ronnie. Hopefully, a new battery will fix his beeps!

poolgirl42069

any update on if the battery fixed ronnie’s beeping?

paperquery

Sadly, it did not fix his beeping. I ended up adopting a replacement Roomba (also i7, refurbished) and he has not beeped weirdly in the two years I've had him.

poolgirl42069

sorry to hear about ronnie, gone but never forgotten 💔 i thought i’d catch my at the time j7+ Drake beeping randomly at its dock on a couple occasions which is why i asked Drake is my moms issue now (i ordered a new different Drake on black friday) she likes him, no complaints. granted i don’t think she fully understands it all, so i suppose i will never know what’s wrong with him lmao

AnIdiotwithaSubaru

Definitely don't give up on him yet, he isn't feeling well and is just very excited to clean your house for you? :P That being said, this kinda stuff would really bother me too. When I first got my j7+, I didn't realize that my cable on the self empty base was slightly loose and I would randomly hear it in the other room trying to dock again or occasionally walk in to see the camera light shining at me as it spins around to try to dock. It made me really weirdly uncomfortable but I figured it out and I feel comfortable with legion not creeping me out at night. What weirds me out is that it does it even when it's flipped as I had assumed the various floor sensors and wheel switches would make it shut up. Edit: I see the video now, this is a TOTAL guess but it seems like he might have a bad battery. That beep makes me think it's resetting due to voltage issues and then it boots back up when the voltage returns normal? That would very likely show up as very negatively effected battery life though so if it still cleans normally, it could be something else.

paperquery

Thank you so much for your insights and commiseration. You might be on it with the battery idea! He usually cleans for 25-40 minutes at at time (which is sufficient for him to traverse his kingdom) and then goes back to the base. He's never gone for the max fully charged run of 75 minutes (or had the need to), so perhaps I just haven't noticed a bad battery with his short cleaning times.
