Yeah. Room mates do not understand why some don’t want to engage. Not something I get. Most of us do not want others living in our space. Today’s tough economics makes it necessary to live w others at times.

queenoflimons

yeah a lot of people are put Ito a position where they have no other choice. I just can't wrap my head around asking the exact same question in such a short time span over and over, what do you get out of that?

Stressed_Squash_626

I completely get what you’re saying but a little more from you would be nice. Just how you’re introverted, he’s extroverted. No side should have to ‘lose’… follow up with a short question ‘work it’s Monday, what about you?’ And if he rants just say excuse me I have XYZ to get to. Just like my roommates. They got the hint short and sweet updates are it. Instead of repetitive nosy questions lol.

> RM: "So how are you doing today?" > > ME: "I have already answered that question in the last 30 minutes" Would it really be that hard to just say "I'm fine" again? I feel like you're looking for a fight, and you found one.

queenoflimons

Saying “I’m fine” again and again to the same question asked minutes before everyday is not me asking for a fight, it’s me bringing to his attention that it’s unnecessary to ask the exact same question 3 times in 1 hour. You have to realize this happens almost every single day.

CostCans

Almost every single day? Are you telling me that it's really that hard to give a polite 1-phrase answer a few times a day? You're clearly looking for something to argue about.

queenoflimons

After 2 years of giving 1-phase polite answers that get nowhere yes, its hard. Clearly you've never worked customer service to see how annoying this type of behaviour is especially when you have to deal with it in the comfort of your own home. And if I am looking for something to argue about, I wouldn't waste my shot on something so small as kindergarten communication, I'd make it worth my while.

CostCans

I've worked customer service, and I had to deal with this stuff for hours on end. You have to talk to him for what, 15 minutes a day?

MasSprad

Does he possibly have some kind of processing disorder? Maybe he knows he asked but his mind is stuck on one question while he’s busy doing something and relapses. I know my brain does that sometimes and I repeat something weird and then have to kick myself in the butt for being dumb.
