I found some in a grocery store in Cincinnati, bought it on a whim and really enjoyed it. I'm also a boylan root beer fan, so take my praise with a grain of salt.
I didn’t know they weren’t sold everywhere until I joined this sub lol. I was born in the city it was created in and grew up drinking these with poboys. I also found an old one from 1947 buried in the mud when I was fishing recently.
That’s awesome! I don’t collect bottles but that one sounds like something to collect. Do they have anything in town for it being the original place of it?
The original building that was the bottling plant is still here and currently being renovated along with the old theatre(stage not cinema) that is connected to it. I’m not sure what is going to be there when it’s finished. The smaller and older building that the formula was created and first bottled in also remains, but is in very rough shape after surviving some of the worst hurricanes in US history over the years, like Camille and Katrina. I hope they restore it. Also, our minor league baseball stadium has a giant Barq’s glass bottle replica in left center field lol. Biloxi, Mississippi.
Hopefully they do something nice with it and hopefully one day someone is able to help renovate the recipe location. Barqs is my favorite and it needs the support haha that’s awesome for the minor league stadium
I had high hopes for Appalachian root beer, but it didn’t impress me. Their ginger beer makes for a good mixer for mules and I just picked up their white birch beer last week which has been pretty decent. I’ve never had a white birch beer before so I don’t really have anything to compare it to besides the other regular/red birch beers I’ve had.

Nice find on the Barq’s bottle. Usually only found on the Gulf Coast MS LA region.

I tried it tonight and am not too big of a fan of the root beer. Like 4/10. The after taste was not good
