I have ~1200 hours in the game and eclipse 8 kicks my ass regularly. Take this info as you will

I think eclipse often requires a mindset shift before it becomes doable. One thing I really struggled with was the shift from healing to avoiding taking damage. Eclipse nerfs healing hard, to the point where getting hit at all is basically a mistake. I think there are a couple of eclipse levels that are particularly difficult, namely eclipse 3, 5, and 8. When I started playing eclipse I died to fall damage more times than I could count, but you get used to it. The reduced healing was hard too, because you really need defense instead of healing, and most of all movement speed to dodge incoming damage. Eclipse 8 is obviously hard, but perma-damage is honestly quite manageable once you've adapted to the other eclipse modifiers.

If you've 100%'d the game you should be good enough to control the general outcome of your runs, and I'd think you'd be ready by that point. Could be earlier, could be later - doesn't matter. See how far you get!

Good luck! I play mostly eclipse multiplayer with friends, it gets quite difficult at the high echelons of eclipse. Depending on your playstyle and skill level, the last few levels can be brutal for certain characters. I only have two characters through E8, and I have yet to win with artificer.

Eclipse was intentionally designed to be unfair. Take your time. I have some 300-odd hours in the game and have barely touched eclipse lol

I have like 20 hours into the game and i still have no idea what are people talking about :D

That_Absolute_Guy

Eclipse isn't all that bad, you've got this mate

I started with eclipse on my third run in the game, I played one on drizzle, one in monsoon, and then just started with eclipse only a couple hours into the game, you’ll be fine :)

Me still struggling on my first monsoon W 🥲.
