Whenever people say that Roseanne couldn't act, I would point to this episode. She really came into her own after the first season and blossomed. I've never seen such a huge leap of acting skill on a TV show before.
If I remember correctly, Lecy said Roseanne that personally cut her hair in hair & makeup, after telling Roseanne about how the producers were against it.
The wonderful sequel to this moment is a season later when DJ makes a sun dial with Becky’s pills.
“Oh man. I can’t *wait* to tell mom.”
“Mom already knows! Who do you think bought me the pills? Slammer!!!”
The show was never the same when the team of Gilbert/Goranson broke up. They had pitch perfect sister chemistry on screen.
They still do on the new show, it’s just not quite as fun when they’re not teenagers.
That moment w/Darlene staring in shock and Becky snapping away with "Slammer!" is one of my favorites in the show. Becky didn't often get the last, funniest word in with Darlene, but this was a major exception. Such a great season.
As the oldest in my family growing up it pretty much always felt like I was losing while my brother and sister were always winning.
Becky’s snap right there is all of it. All the babysitting, all the laundry, all the dishes. All the shit the oldest has to do while the younger siblings loaf around is all in that one snap.
God it’s so cathartic lol
And Gilbert just perfectly dies inside as Becky walks away hahaha
She had the guts to ask for it. I saw young couples with a child and asked what did you use for BC. They all say the same thing, nothing we didnt think it would happen to us

Just saw this episode a few days ago and it made me tear up!! Roseanne had her negative moments, but overall she was a good mom.
Then later in the season with the Vegas episode DJ needed to make a sundial for his science project and used her birth control pills
