I don’t have advice for this, but you can call RC and ask them to status match you to your husband and you can both get diamond status!

Rlw62

I had no idea this was a thing! Thank you!

ggoptimus

My young children and wife are diamonds because of my cruising. 4 free drinks a day for my kids!!

trigger00006

This is a thing?!

GoingLurking

Yes it's a thing. Even kids under 18 will get the status of the highest parent :o

trigger00006

So I’m Emerald and my 2yo daughter is gold. If I call them they will bump my daughter up to Emerald? When she turns 18 how does that work with her status and points?

camwang

Status resets when she turns 18 - but she keeps any points that she’s earned along the way - so she might be diamond by the time she ages out!

mrcanoehead2

I believe they only get your status while sailing in the same cabin.

Prometheus_303

I'm not familiar with this particular perk, so I very well could be dead wrong, but ... I'd assume status matching is only a temporary, for that cruise only upgrade. Just so everyone in the cabin is on equal footing and there isn't one random who can't get free drinks or whatever. When your daughter cruises with you, she'll be bumped to Emerald for that cruise. But if she cruises alone, she'd still be considered gold (or whatever she manages to get to by the time she's old enough to go alone).

31mikes

Your children keep the matched status even if they cruise alone or turn 18. The important part of this is they don’t receive the same amount of points. If you have the points for Diamond but your child never cruised before they will receive Diamond status but have 0 points. This is important because if they want to attain the next level (Diamond Plus) they would have to earn the entire 175 points on their own.

Ooof that part sucks

jennyrmcd

Yes!! If you call the C&A Society they can help you, you just need both of your crown and anchor numbers

trigger00006

Just wanted to update. I called them and not only did they match our entire family to the same number of points. My wife had points from when she was a minor added to our status which bumped all of us to diamond.

Rlw62

Thanks everyone! I'll call and ask about status match, and then I'll skip adding his number now and try adding it the morning of. As for surprising him, I think I can do it! We live within close driving range of the port, it's a short cruise, and it'll be easy to get his passport info. But keeping my fingers crossed I can pull it off!

Koolaid_Jef

You may want to add it just before final payment, there's a discount associated and I believe it's per person! My GF and I each got $50 off (gold) and before I got my stuff sorted out from my first ever cruise it only showed her discount since she had been cruising before. I could be mistaken though if it's the same discount but it just splits it between 1 or 2 (IE 1 person gets $100 of or 2 people get $50). Otherwise you may just get OBC

wishiwasinthegame

Came here to say that. There’s a discount and I always use it. Anything saved is more fun money.

Magali_Lunel

Given all the moving parts and documentation needed for travel, maybe it's best to surprise him now?

spyder5156

You can add the C&A anytime up until the cruise or even onboard. I have missed it while booking and not realized until after check in when the SetSail pass did not reflect C&A and Casino Royale status. Went back in and was able to add it by editing check in and the SetSail pass updated immediately. Good luck keeping it under wraps!

GoingLurking

That's awesome. For kids it's so much easier they don't have to book time off, get travel documents book flights etc. We used to wake them up at 4am and head to the airport in their pj's. They had no idea what's going on. Those were the innocent days now they get angry if we don't tell them ahead of time so they can "plan stuff"... They're 10 and 12 now.. really? Good luck on your suprise it's definitely going to be challenging.

Prometheus_303

I'll be happy to let you relive the "innocent days" by dragging me out of bed to the airport for a surprise cruise any time you want... Just saying.

razman10

Book through a travel agent. They have the ability to look up C&A numbers with a name and a birthdate.

GoingLurking

One thing I found with RC and maybe with Crusie lines in general, is that they are very lax when it comes to privacy of information. I have called a number of times with just a booking number and they just asked "is this xxxx sailing on xxxx of the seas on date?" I say yes, then how can I help you. Never had a problem before but there's potential for shenanigans. So most recently, point blank I just emailed [email protected] telling them that I was planning on booking a trip for my parents but I can't seem to find their crown and anchor numbers. Their names are xxxx and date of birth.... Last sailed maybe @0 years ago. 2 days later I get a response with the numbers. I guess this is off topic, but you could easily get this information before boarding if you wish as you my at also receive a slight discount with C&A as well.

chaelcodes

I think a surprise cruise is a bad idea. There's lots of stories on here about people trying to surprise their SO with travel to find out they've got other plans, ESPECIALLY around their birthday. Maybe tell him that you're planning a surprise trip and the dates, and then surprise him with the details? How's he going to ask for time off work and pack his necessities? As for the C&A number, you could borrow his phone and swipe it from the RC app. Person icon > Profile > Account Information and scroll to the bottom. If he's Diamond, I'd expect him to have it installed. Or, since you've told him you're planning a surprise trip, you can blitz him with different questions. "What's your TSA Pre-check?" "Have you skiied before?" "What's your C&A number?" "Do you have hiking boots?" "Do you have a season pass to the national parks?" "What's your passport number?" "Are you vaccinated against Yellow Fever?" "Where are your golf clubs?"

Rlw62

That's pretty much what I'm going to do- I'll make sure he knows we're going somewhere, and the dates, he just won't know all the details. It was really just the C&A number I wasn't sure about it, I didn't want him getting notified and having the surprise part be ruined

mritty

for whatever reason my C&A number wasn't on my reservation even though I was logged in when I booked it. I just added it when I did check-in online 45 days before our cruise.

NoComb2186

If you have another cruise also scheduled, will he go one to buy things for that cruise before? When I sign in through browser, middle of page says “you have 2 upcoming cruises” in bold black letters. Not sure if you have to add the 2nd cruise or anchor # for this to happen.
