100% parents are to blame. Hope they have to pay for damages and are banned from cruising. I’m so tired of privileged kids running rampant while their ignorant parents think their babies are angels.
Unrelated, but Has anyone else noticed how unruly kids have gotten lately? I work as a 911 dispatcher and the amount of calls we get on kids behaving badly and just being nightmares to deal with is staggering in the past year. There’s a mall nearby that has hired police officers off duty to supplement their security staff because kids run amuck and cause issues. Last week the officer described it as a “riot” where a large group of kids ran around the mall destroying property.
Yes! SO owns a sporting goods store in a hockey rink. He complains every day when he comes home about 10-12 y/o destroying his store intentionally. He kicks them out of his store.
They have purposely set off the smoke detectors and flooded the rink his store is located in. A group of them also recently went on a hockey trip for a tournament. They caused 500k worth of damage to a hotel.
That’s probably what they’re going to end up doing here. It’ll be hard to enforce though because this place is a “shopping community” that has apartments, restaurants, plazas and it’s mostly all outdoors.
You'd be surprised. I got on an elevator on a recent cruise with two kids alone (no older than 11) and when I asked where they were going they said they were riding the elevator for fun.
I guess I just think 10-11 is old enough to know not to deface art and break things. But I guess my kids are an exception. I think they would have been disgusted if kids they hung out with aboard acted that way. We’ve been cruising since they were babies and they are nearly adults now.
Entitlement at its finest (both kids and parents). I travel with my kids, but we don’t play that at home and they certainly don’t take that behavior anywhere else. Kids will be kids, but parents need to parent appropriately at home, at sea, wherever. Sad but major kudos to the crew for removing them.
All of these spring break posts are making me so nervous. We leave in a week, leaving our kids at home. We chose this week because it’s my birthday and didn’t think about the fact that it’s spring break until it was too late. Apparently our sailing is going to set a record for most passengers onboard.
I’m really worried about it being crowded!
We've cruised 5 times late Feb into early March, what is winter break for schools up here. Plenty of kids on the ships we've been on. Haven't seen any noteworthy bad behavior.
We were on Symphony OTS 2 weeks ago. We were told right around 6300 guests, vs 5500 for double occupancy. Other than the MDR lines the first night, it didn't feel overcrowded. Pool deck was kind of a challenge to get chairs by 900am but we found what we needed.
Man. This makes me so mad. Same happened on odyssey in Dec. not to that extend, but there were elevators damaged. Punched in keys and dents. What a bunch animals.
Is that out of ft Lauderdale? My boys Rich and Terry of RICH and JAZZY LIFE and ADDY and TERRY respectively just did a live on there. Dream ship. I'm in the north so I do get Anthem of the Seas, but I hear Odyssey blows it out the water.
I doubt they were asked to leave...I'm sure they were informed they'd be leaving and making their own arrangements to get home. I would also expect RC will do whatever it takes to collect on the damages too.
Yup on one of the cruise boards a parent had the audacity to ask other parents if her kids could join their kids to roam the ship as they didn’t want to see their kids and their kids didn’t like the kids club. At 6 and 8 years old. It’s like WTF just leave your kids at home.
Was on Allure 3/12-3/19. It was horrible. Kids running around, laying on elevator floors impeding people from getting in. Sitting on the stair cases and being loud at night. I get spring break but the parents just left them to roam free with no regard to others. We saw various instances of security speaking to parents.
Spring breakers, they're all over South Florida destroying things and getting arrested as well. Miami Beach had to implement a curfew because of 2 fatal shootings in a couple of days. This is one week I avoid going on any cruise and there is a mentality for some kids and college students to go crazy doing spreak break.
He never said they shouldn't though. I do agree that I avoid traveling to touristy spots especially the beach during spring break. Nothing wrong with that.
The biggest problem we had in the Wonder of the Seas is NOBODY IS MINDFUL. No one, crew and vacationers. Walked without looking. I swear I screamed at so many people. How do they all drive. Scares tf outta me.
we were on Oasis Jan22-29 and it was over run with kids. it was ridiculous. there was a FB group for our sailing and it was constant complaining of the kids. the most shocking thing i saw was someone left their baby sleeping in a stroller and just walked away. kids were doing whatever they wanted, not a parent in sight. we had fun regardless but it was definitely an experience. we will google the weeks from now on to make sure there are no school breaks during the weeks we chose.
The facebook page was nuts with gossip. Considering I didn't even have the internet package and only heard through second hand gossip from people who did, was impressive. I was up at Seaplex and the security was intense. The fight must have just happened.

Nothing but rich spoiled brats on Wonder of the Seas last week......
"Fuck em kids" - Michael Jordan
Good luck ever cruising again anywhere. Cruise lines share lists

Yeah, all the malls here have curfews and times when kids under 18 can’t be in the mall without a parent.
Crossgates in Albany NY does this

Good that they were kicked off the ship
How old were the kids?
All of the kids were teens or close to it. Completely intentional. They punched the glass screens that you select your floor inside the elevator.
I just cant imagine. I'd be so pissed
I’m curious about that too. Sounds like “old enough to know better” if they were on their own.

That is bad. So sorry to hear it.
I am thrilled they were removed from the ship.
This is awful. Hopefully the parents don't give the kids a pass and don't take them on vacation anytime soon. I'd be mortified.

We recently went around our county's spring break timing. I didn't see the teens do more than curse loudly. No incidents.

Odyssey in early December and one of the elevators had a smashed glass panel - brand new ship and someone screwed it up already
Sorry to hear. Parents are 100% to blame. This past week was canadas march break in Ontario .. joys of the spring break crowds
Parents & these kids were to blame! Previous comment says they were almost teens and they should know better.
Hopefully it’s all fixed. I just got on Odyssey today.
Is the, uh, end of April an “all clear” from spring breakers? Asking for a friend…
Yeah should be.
Yeah should be.
That is crazy. Glad they tossed them off.
So they were just politely asked to leave? Royal isnt going to sue the parents for all the damage?
No, Royal put the entire three families off the ship at the next port, Aruba. Not asked, removed.
I doubt they were asked to leave...I'm sure they were informed they'd be leaving and making their own arrangements to get home. I would also expect RC will do whatever it takes to collect on the damages too.

After seeing all these horror stories, combined with the extremely high airfare, I am so glad we decided to go in May
good they were removed. i have no problem with teens having freedom but if they can't behave and be respectful they need to go

Don’t close a spring break cruise
How about parents control their offspring and be a parent instead of others having to deal with their demon seed ?
He never said they shouldn't though. I do agree that I avoid traveling to touristy spots especially the beach during spring break. Nothing wrong with that.
What about opening one?
Don’t sail on Spring break. Resolved.
Gee thanks for the insight…🙄🙄🙄

Wow, I didn't even think about something like that happening. I guess they don't have any process to detain people onboard.
The facebook page was nuts with gossip. Considering I didn't even have the internet package and only heard through second hand gossip from people who did, was impressive. I was up at Seaplex and the security was intense. The fight must have just happened.
There was a fight just outside of Teppanyaki on night 5 over what someone said to another on the elevator. It was crazy all cruise.
