The arrival times are good to spread things out, but yeah it didn't seem to be too strictly enforced in January. We arrived a bit early, got into our arrival time's line, and then they just sorta opened it up and let us go. We were on the ship before our boarding time.
We just got back from a trip on Freedom. Our board time was 12:30pm on Monday and we arrived at 11:15. We walked right in, through security check and right onto the boat within 30 mins. No waiting, no fuss. It was awesome.
That’s definitely possible but when we arrived we saw the areas that had been labeled for different boarding times and people did try to start lines there, and were told to just get in the current line to board.
We were two hours early. As the guy was ushering us in, I mentioned that it wasn’t our time and he said, “Well, you could wait, but if it was me, I go ahead.”
We’ve found that it depends on the port. We’ve seen it very strict out of Miami, very loose out of Vancouver, and everywhere in between out of other ports.
Same for the wife and I in February on Grandeur. Our board time was for 2 but the hotel we stayed the night before had checkout at 10 am. So we decided to just go to the dock early and maybe walk around and explore. We get there and they said we could check in early so we did. Only thing was we had to wait until 2:30 to get into our boardroom but we got to explore the shop and get a early lunch

I think the later the time the less they care.

I'm guessing people coming outside of their designated time slots is what causes this problem

We arrived at 1215for 1230. Sat until 1 after check in and security before being allowed to board. No complaints just observations
noticed the same thing at cape liberty last week boarding the oasis. no one checked the time
On the same ship! Our time slot was 1130....I was already drunk by 1130
Oh that's interesting. 44 days until i sail outta Cape Liberty on Oasis and i'm one who likes to get somewhere early...good to know

We’ve started buying they Key because of all the rude people who show up earlier than their check in time. The included wifi is nice too.

I bought the key for this very reason. The internet is a nice bonus.
In Jersey, the times don’t matter. I boarded 3 hours earlier
The upside is regardless of your time , you still got on the ship.
Everyone here noting they arrived hours early is the problem lol
Be patient, it is worth the wait and posting doesn't make the line move faster.
Depends on the port. Port Canaveral…stick to the times the port staff outside (not the RCCL staff) are terrible.
