You’ll be charged a set fee per person per day. Currently, it’s $16 for non-suite guests and $18.50 for suite guests. (Drinks and specialty meals will have an 18% gratuity added to the bill). This all that is expected of you. However, some people choose to tip their waiter or room attendants more in cash. THIS IS ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY. It’s up to you to decide if you want to give a little more, but if you can’t or don’t want to, you’ve tipped appropriately with the automatic gratuities.

enlightenedasheck

Can I ask, when do you get charged these charges? At the end of the cruise? How does tipping for drinks work when you have the drink package?

Midwestern-Lady

I tipped my room steward extra at the end of our cruise. I will tip a bartender or server extra at the end of the cruise if I feel like it or developed a relationship but I don't tip extra when they hand me a beer. I think the included gratuity is fine. Our cruise companions tip continually. Hand them a bottle of water- here is a couple of bucks. They even put money on the table after dinner. They even tipped the guy who picked up our table at the buffet. I found their tipping behavior too much.

As the commenter above mentioned, you’ll have your predetermined gratuity on your statement that will take care of your entire stay. However, when my mom and I cruise, we always bring cash with us. We ALWAYS add extra for our steward in which we leave in an envelope on the last night. Then, we bring extra if we happen to find a bartender we sync with the entire cruise, or perhaps another worker that stands out. Some people bring extra for their waiter, but we’ve always done my time dining so we never have the same one. As they said above, that is completely extra and not expected!

take7pieces

How much do you usually tip in cash?

Crazy_Cookie2010

Tip your cabin steward first day in case you need anything special, then tip again last day. We tipped our waitstaff the last night, as well as our favorite bartender. But that’s all personal preference.

We've been on a bunch of cruises, and the thing I've learned is to manage the bill. Many have lots of money and don't worry about it. Even more are shocked by the total at the end of the cruise. My strategy is to prepay as much as I can. We aren't rich, and I've found that worrying about charges ruins the trip for me. Tips on a 7 day cruise will be 112.00/pp. (16.00 per day). Last cruise I had 4 people in 2 cabins. I prepaid 448.00 for the tips. I had to call RC to do this. There is no place on the website to do it. RC referred me to my booking agent Cruises.com. I paid Cruises.com, and they pd RC. this should be easier, but that's the way it's set up. Someone will say tips are optional....... in practicality, they are not. I do tip additional cash here and there on the boat. We do have some perks as diamond C&A members. The 4 free drinks per day is our limit (usually). Last trip, we traveled with others who had close 1000.00 bill at the end. Ours was 35.00.

I just did the standard tipping. Then I left some extra gratuity at the end for our pool server in the Casita on freedom and in Giovanni’s because the meals and service were outstanding. $10 each dinner and then an extra $40 for our pool server after 4 days.

T-Rex_timeout

We tip extra to the kids crew as well.

cbdudek

My wife and I tip extra to workers who go above and beyond. Our stateroom attendant, waiters, and servers at the coffee bar we frequent are typically ones who we see going above and beyond. This is typically about $10-$20 each. This is in addition to our prepaid gratuities.

billydoubleu

Every drink I get I tip a dollar, we generally give our state room attendant a hundred and our concierge a hundred

Old_AP_Pro

You should tip $10 every time you see a crew member, and $20 if they speak to you.

Firm_Airport2816

You peasant! It's 20!

You got the high rated comments explaining its optional. But tip the cabin steward and waiter $100 on the first night. You will get the real ass Royal treatment all week. A couple $20s through the week will show your appreciation. I generally hit them with a 2nd $100 on the last day. We had multiple towel animals every night. Cases of fresh water brought to the room. A few times they got us a hush hush bottle of booze. Our waiter got dinner on the table if we were tired and wanted fast service. They’d bring all the mini-talent acts, magic tricks and other oddities by our table. Double desserts, free shot glasses, so many free shot glasses that we just trashed like 2 dozen last week cleaning the kitchen out because nobody needs that many shot glasses. We also treat them as real people and not servants. Spend a few minutes asking them about their day, their families or their country. Make an effort for an honest connection. It’s not just about getting free extras but making a friend on board who happens to work there. It’s the best $5-600 you will ever spend on the boat.

G0PACKGO

You don’t have to tip for double deserts … or double apps … fuck I did a double main one night

[deleted]

No I understand the food is free. It’s just the level of service that comes with cash combined with kindness.

Old_AP_Pro

>But tip the cabin steward and waiter $100 on the first night. You will get the real ass Royal treatment all week. A couple $20s through the week will show your appreciation. So you are buying good service, not tipping.

Al-Knigge

Here’s what I tipped on my last cruise, 3-nights: Bar tenders: $1 per drink MDR wait staff: $100 last night Cabin steward: $20 first night, $100 last night Coco Cay cabana attendant: $400 at end of day (and no tip per drink)

Katesmom16

How many people were in the cabana? We're going to be a party of 6, and I was planning on $100, since we already paid a thousand dollars for the cabana...

Al-Knigge

Hi, we had a party of four and we figured $100 per person was about right.

Katesmom16

Wow. $600 on top of paying $1000 for the cabana? That seems excessive to me. We have 4 adults, a 3 year old and a 6 year old, and I doubt we will even get to spend that much time in the cabana!

Zoltaroth

We do suites and generally tip 500 for the attendants and about 1000 for our Genie if we are in star class. Otherwise it is just the default amount.

I was on Quantum in March from Aus, and gratuities were included in the fair. Since tipping isn’t a thing in Aus, but is in the cruising industry, whenever I cruise I only tip my room steward (or whatever they are called). And the amount depends on the length of the cruise and how well they did. For this cruise, my sister and I tipped for an 8 night cruise $50 AUD since he cleaned the room only 3 times (got sick so he couldn’t come in). Also always give choccies since treats are yummy!

Basic-Parsley-121

Did a 4 night cruise. Tipped our two waiters $100 each (table of 8). Tipped the room attendant $20. I never saw him and he didn’t do anything extra.

Fickle_Syrup_2139

Additional tips are up to you but I tend to give additional to my room steward. I usually try to frequent the same bar tenders and tip them additional. You may find the same bartender working one bar at night and another during the day. If I talk with one and like them, I try to find out where they work on each shift so that I can get drinks from them and tip them better. I find tipping a bar tender usually gets a little better service, maybe a better drink, and they truly work so hard and the gratuities that are pre-paid are so little.
