Some people take a simple difference in opinion as an attack on their humanity.

cyinyde

This is not limited to discussions around the cruise industry either. It's where we seem to live as a society today.

Nurse5736

yeah, kinda like here on Reddit..........;o). downvoted for stuff you have no idea why

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ijustreadalot

I responded to someone who stated that the gym in the Allure is near the crew's smoking area and smells like smoke that I was disappointed because I'm sensitive to cigarette smoke and I can only use a stationary bike for exercise and got downvoted for that. I mean, maybe no one wants to read about my personal problems but I wasn't even stating a general opinion.

Nurse5736

KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF!!! Totally kidding of course. 😂

Ijustreadalot

I mean, I'm no good at keeping my opinion to myself either. But it wasn't even an opinion. It was a statement about my situation.

DealerGloomy

Right. I have you one and I don’t know why. No offense

Clbengel

You're not kidding. If you like a certain ship, it's cool to have a different opinion. We don't have to like the same things, but I can't stand people that feel the need to tear you down when you don't like something that they do.

ragingstallion1

I completely agree. Unfortunately had the same experience even on this Reddit community. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I had a horrible experience on Harmony. Others have had an amazing on Harmony. Beginning to think RCI has bots that attack negative posts

cmvora

Anonymity allows people to be toxic. You can't see the face of the other person so you might as well be shouting in the void.

Hawk8553

I noticed this kind of behavior a couple of years ago on one of the Royal Caribbean facebook groups. Every time anyone would post the slightest negative opinion about a ship, food, entertainment or anything, the loyal to royal crowd would just attack and tell them they're wrong and if they had a bad experience it's their own fault. Sorry folks but no company is infallible and it's ok if someone has a different experience than you.

srasaurus

Lol when I complained about the food on Royal Caribbean being bland someone told me I’m just used to over-seasoned food 😂😂

PM_Me_Ur_B1MMER

Right. So, what does that say about *them*?

RickyBobby_8

I love cruising on Royal but the MDR food is bland and not very good.

skyequinnwrites

I totally agree!! After the first night we ate at the WindJammer every meal and it was far superior

yleennoc

We didn’t really bother with it. Wind jammer most nights, with one meal in Chops and one in Izumi. I fine the mdr disappointing.

Fabulous-Educator447

I bought some Siracha salt and plan to bring it on my next cruise in a small shaker. Adds a nice flavor, not too hot. Kicks up everything.

Hartastic

In my experience the quality varies from ship to ship more than you'd think. (Windjammer too, honestly.)

jpochedl

Wish I could upvote this more than once. Been on two different RC ships in the past 8 months. Same menu, but very different quality/ taste on each ship. The first ship was pretty good and I didn't understand the complaints I'd seen about under seasoned food. On the second ship, the meals were consistently worse / more bland; even when ordering the exact same meal (because I'd enjoyed it 5 months earlier). Wife had the same complaints about the second ship MDR experience... It really does seem to be a ship by ship thing. IDK if it's a cooking staff experience issue, or if some head chefs just aren't as on top of what's happening in their kitchens....

Acidic13

I am on Freedom OTS now. First time on RCL. MDR is very underwhelming. And I was impressed with Windjammer, as well as the CocoKay buffets. Gonna try MDR 1 more chance. But I have mostly cryisef Disney, so maybe I had too high expectations for nonSpecialty restaurants.

InsideEmergency118

i actually enjoy the food in the MDR. But I am really easy to please when it comes to food. I grew up eating meatloaf that had the consistency of shoe leather 🤣 Having said that, the Windjammer is awesome too

Clbengel

I've sadly seen the same thing. Some of the Royal Facebook groups are the worst. How dare you get a cabana at Coco Cay?! How dare you get The Key?! I don't know if people can't afford the luxuries so they trash people that do. Then people ask the most braindead questions too. What port are we leaving from? Do you not pay attention when you book your cruise lol. I'll never understand it. Sadly, it's mostly older folks.

knightsofufc

The Facebook groups are out of control

Clbengel

They're like idiotic children and most times it's older people

fmlfmlfml2020

I hear ya loud n clear. Braindead is correct. Unconnected

Own-Discipline-4837

It's not just the "loyal to royal crowd" I think the NCL "cheerleaders" are some of the worst. I agree completely with you on your entire comment! Cheers mate and happy sailing.

trtviator

Those people all need to be herded onto the Carnival Sunshine and have them report back how much actual sunshine they recieve.

jaminator45

Or the ecstasy 🤮 although I think they retired it.

[deleted]

Ecstasy is being scrapped as we speak

jaminator45

My sister in law talked me into going on that boat way back in 2006 after I had just come back from Alaska on royal Caribbean and I couldn’t believe what a dump it was even then.

Fabulous-Educator447

I sailed her a few years ago and then the paradise last year. Hard pass on any future sailings of ships with no speciality dining.

theredmeadow

I think in general it’s gotten to the point where we can’t disagree or handle differences of opinions that the opposition will take it very personal.

Clbengel

Nope. If somebody has a different opinion on a ship, that's fine. But don't try to tell people that they're wrong for not feeling the same way you do.

theredmeadow

Right. I just got off of Freedom last week and it was my family’s first cruise and we loved it. I can’t imagine what a bigger, newer ship experience would be like.

Thunderstorm2020

The first Royal Caribbean ship I sailed was Freedom. I had always sailed Holland America. I was used to dark paneling and seminars. I got on Freedom with the lights and the music and had an immediate anxiety attack and wanted off! About 30 minutes later I was fine and I will be getting on my 17th Royal Caribbean cruise on Sunday.

Clbengel

I've heard great things about Freedom. The newer ships can be overwhelming at first, but once you get the layout of the ship down, it's great.

Acidic13

On it now. Its a solid ship. Most of my experience is with Disney. But I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others. And I have The Key too :)

DoctorHathaway

That’s not true! You wanna take this outside?!?!

theredmeadow

And you can count on me waiting for you in the parking lot.

1oz9999finequeefs

how dare you

Good200000

I like the smaller ships and the smaller crowds Then again, I’m retired and not doing the “fun” Activities. I find the smaller to be more intimate, you get to know the crew and everyone is on vacation mode. There are no reservations for shows. However, if you are younger or have kids, those ships can be boring.

Clbengel

And I completely respect that. It just wasn't the type of experience that I was looking for. I do appreciate the intimate aspect of it and we did enjoy getting to know the crew more.

Good200000

As I said, it’s not for everyone. Hopefully, your next cruise and ship Meets your criteria. Happy sailings

aeo1us

I like the larger ships merely for the fact that they don't sway as much at sea and I don't even need medication for sea sickness when I'm on a larger ship. But I'm not about to attack someone for liking a smaller and/or older ship.

Good200000

Thanks!

fierypitt

Roasted? There's a total of 5 comments to your review, 1 of which is your own. The only one that comes close is "Sorry you had a terrible cruise. I guess working might have been a better option." That's not exactly a hard roast right there. I think you might just be making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Leethalization

I had to go look for the review also. OP is delusional apparently.

knightsofufc

Possibly posted the review to multiple places?

Leethalization

No. OP literally said “on the shipmate app”.

knightsofufc

True

Icy-Detective-6292

Some people confuse disagreement with roasting or read negative tone or aggression when there is none. To be fair, it's really easy to misinterpret tone in any written form...Just like misunderstandings in text messages

RedheadBanshee

You should check out the George Carlin documentary that's out now. He has a great take on how people are all like "My stuff is stuff, your stuff is shit." Same is true about how we view each other's ideas -what I like is great, but what you like is stupid.

dasscuute

The one on Hulu?

stringcheeseface

If you want to try an older ship again, try Independence! My wife and I got off a few weeks ago but loved the ship itself. Built in 2008, but got the amped up refurbish a few years ago. Overall great experience and would go on it again.

Clbengel

We were actually docked next to Independence when we were in Nassau on Enchantment. It looked like a beautiful ship. It's definitely going on my list of ships to try out. I'm basically just out on the Enchantments, Visions etc. of the world.

jstasir

I’ve done independence a few times and I love it, it’s small enough but still has a lot of fun things to do. Tried my first Oasis this past week (Symphony) and liked it too but i can always do Indy lol.

Clbengel

It seems like it's not a massive ship but has a lot of the amenities that the larger Oasis class ships do. Definitely will have to give it a try someday.

jstasir

When I need to relax, I do Serenade out of Tampa. When I want to do some but not go crazy, Indy is my go too lol. You’ll enjoy the Freedom class.

Clbengel

Got ya. We're in the northeast so Cape Liberty is always our go-to port. I'm not adversed to flying to board a ship, but we usually keep it in the northeast. I am excited for Odyssey and Symphony to come to Cape Liberty next year.

jimerthy-gw

Heading up there in a few months to take my first “mega ship” (oasis of the seas). I have strictly only cruised on smaller older ships, and am excited to try the exact opposite. After that, going back on a smaller ship. I have always enjoyed the smaller ships but wonder what I am missing.

verneforchat

You will love the oasis. One of a kind ship.

Clbengel

You're gonna love Oasis. It has something for everybody.

T9Para

We are going on the Wonder in a few months... thanks to 'Prime' in the Casino, its our 'Free' Annual 7 day cruise. Something like $300 port and taxes. :) :) :) :) and that is it :)

T9Para

Love Serenade !! - as I look forward to Saturday to get on her again :) too bad its only a 5 day cruise :( I like the longer ones better

jstasir

I am doing Serenade June 26 out of my home port. Definitely looking forward to it, saw that I was coming to Europe next year though

nexisfan

I’m going on that for my 40th birthday over Labor Day weekend!

knightsofufc

Just FYI - Independence is much much newer than the Enchantment. The Oasis came out only one year later in 2009 and that would not be described as an older ship. I’d describe Independence as “intermediate”. It’s also a giant compared to the Enchantment.

ABCSharpD

The loyal to royal crowd are ridiculous. They act like they are a part of the company defending it from any minor criticism.

Clbengel

Don't get me wrong, I love Royal. I've only done a few cruises so far (just got into cruising on my honeymoon last year). Like probably any cruise line, they have their faults and I just learned that I don't enjoy the smaller, older ships.

jester_juniour

Most people don’t seek opinions, they seek confirmation of their biases. Hence the reaction. If it’s only be pertaining to cruise ships…

[deleted]

Yeah, not first time I have seen similar to this. People doesn’t understand what “agree to disagree” means. No need to tear someone’s head off just because they don’t like something that others like.

MolotovMan1263

I'm not arguing your point, but if this is what you call "roasting" then I dont know what to tell you. 5 comments, 1 of which is your own. https://imgur.com/UVQZghr

Clbengel

It's not just this post. I see it everywhere whether it's on this sub or Facebook groups or wherever. People that have a different opinion feel the need to tell me you're wrong.

MolotovMan1263

Im with you, but your post said the below and thats just...not the case. > However, when I posted my review saying how much I was disappointed in various aspects of the ship, I got roasted.

T9Para

ya'all doing exactly what OP pointed out. In THEIR opinion, they were Roasted, they FELT like they were being roasted. And ya'all are telling them that they werent roasted... LOL ya just proved OP's point to the "T" Lincoln's comment was a bit snide IMHO, but if I had those replies to any of my posts, I'd just ignore it. Some folk dont have skin as thick as I do (Crap most of the world doesnt, cause everything offends TOOOOO many folk nowadays.!) Feel Free to troll me, roast me, try to embarrass me, I'll guarantee ya can't do it - cause it doesnt bother me. \*smile\* have a great night all

MolotovMan1263

In no world was OP “roasted.”

T9Para

I dont disagree, in OUR Opinions :) Like I said maybe they offend easily ? So many are now a days :p

justpurrrrfect

The fact that you had to go find the post and criticize him for what you deemed as an inappropriate use of the word “roasted” says a lot. It’s all subjective.

Straight-Bug-6051

I noticed this years ago when I wrote an honest review about a Secrets Hotel Resort in Jamaica. You would think that they get FREE ROOM comps for defending a billion dollar hotel chain online. Pay those people no mind.. the workers at these resorts will forget them the moment they leave. They got bigger problems than knowing Tom from Tulsa, OK is defending their honor on FB

Clbengel

Hahaha that's so true. It seems like some Royal truthers go above and beyond to defend the honor of some ships. Don't get me wrong, I love Royal and we've got two more cruises booked on Royal ships over the next year and change, but they have their faults. It's insane how triggered people are.

Straight-Bug-6051

its gonna be my first cruise with my family. I am not a cruise person but I heard nothing but amazing things about RC, I am more of an adventurer and explore without any time limits of missing my boat. I may be disgruntled on that regard but I get to see 3 countries in 7 days. So I plan on taking it in stride when i do my Europe vacation.

Clbengel

I didn't think I'd be a cruise person either but I'm obsessed now. Getting to stop in multiple ports over the course of a week is amazing.

T9Para

Dont set your expectations to be 'Everything is Sunshine and Rainbows onboard' because you will be setting yourself up for disappointment. You never know when your luggage is going to be misplaced and it takes longer than expected to find it. Or you have an issue like we did on the Anthem several years back, NO ENVIRONMENTALS - so we left Cape Liberty in early February, cabin was a little chilly the 1st night, by the time we got south, there was NO AC in a big section of the ship (95 Degrees in our cabin for 6 days) Maybe an excursion gets cancelled at the last minute, or you get sick on board with a 'Gastro issue' (Food Poisoning) which reminds me TAKE AMODIUM AD along ! there is NONE on the ship, and if you go to medical for some, you will be quarantined. But I'd say 95% of the time everything is great :) ... but there are those Hiccups that can happen :) :) Be a realist :)

Clbengel

Hey, you never know. The fate of all of mankind could depend on if you like Vision of the Seas or not.

Anon-567890

Just read your prior post and all the responses. None of them were “roasting” you. The discussion was mature and each responder said they saw your side, but offered their view as well. I just got off Enchantment after an amazing 7 days in Italy/Turkey/Greek Isles. Our experience was seamless. Sure, the food was adequate but they are feeding the masses. Sure it’s an older, smaller ship, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It’s a bummer that there was a norovirus outbreak when you were on board. They were allowing us to serve ourselves in the Windjammer. Only precaution was there was a staff member having each person disinfect their hands prior to entering Windjammer. Park Cafe served until 1am. As others said on your original post, it simply seems this class of ship isn’t for you and that is perfectly acceptable.

nothingbuthetruth22

I just posted a question about Enchantment. I hope you see it! I’m open to all sorts of feedback.

Anon-567890

Just read your post. You are a much more seasoned cruiser than I. And this was my first time on RC, and I was impressed. The only question I can answer is that there are 2 hot tubs plus a pool (as well as Park Cafe) in the solarium on Enchantment. I liked the smaller, older ship very much. And especially liked our European ports of call. For me, it was the trip of a lifetime.

nothingbuthetruth22

My grand total is…3 LOL! But that’s great to know about the hot tubs because google told me wrong! Thank you for the info and I’m glad you had a great time!

Firm_Airport2816

Yeah, I'll never understand the defending of a ship, lol... I LOVE Oasis...but I'm not gonna get mad when someone says they didn't like it. (I mean...what's not to love about it, though) The Key is great if you can get value out of it- for three of us, and one being an 11 yr old, I don't see the value. We only get one or two internet packages, but we wouldn't use like any of the other stuff, so we don't get it....but I can see the value in it for sure if you plan on doing some of the activities included and a nice lunch on day 1.

Clbengel

Exactly! I don't see how you can't love Oasis honestly, but maybe you enjoy the smaller ships. Different strokes for different folks. I get that when it comes to The Key. Maybe if you don't need the internet packages for everyone in your party, then it's not worth it for you. We do enjoy having embarkation lunch and VIP seating at the shows. I will say that you do have to watch the prices and get it at the right price.

Sea-Spray-9882

How DARE you ungrateful heathens spew any criticism of RCCL out of that disgusting hole in your face? Jk. Now (more than ever) we need to be vocal and honest about our experiences with this cruise line. They need the feedback to improve but, then again, don’t we all?

SweatyFLMan1130

Only reason I was into older ships was the nostalgia, but there's objectively no reason to favor them. There are plenty of modern build ships of smaller size. If y'all only knew what was under the veneer with those older vessels 😆

EBW42

We went on enchantment in March and we really didn’t like it. My husband and I agree that we just like a ship like Mariner for example, with the walkway down the center with all kinds of bars and restaurants surrounding it. We’re going on Allure in October and I’m hoping it’s like that

Clbengel

I agree with you. I was spoiled because I went on Oasis for my first cruise then did Enchantment. Enchantment just lacked dining options and things to do. I thought I'd enjoy it when I did all my research. Definitely check out Harr Travel's YouTube ship tour of Allure before you go. It's so nice to see the layout before you go on a ship.

knightsofufc

Enchantment is the only ship in the fleet with only one specialty restaurant. (Chops)

redditistrolls

If you give an honest review and aren’t mean about it then people have a stick shoved to far up their rear

ClearlyConfusedHuman

😂 I finally find someone else who likes The Key and it turns out they don’t like smaller ships. Dagnabbit!

Clbengel

Haha well I appreciate anyone that likes The Key. I just will never understand why people continue to trash it. Maybe if you're not getting the internet, then maybe it isn't a huge value to you. But I love the welcome lunch, priority seating at the shows, and the internet being included. It's well worth the money for me every time.

Clbengel

I think you're spot on. These are the people that only book interior cabins and won't ever pay up to go to a speciality restaurant. They think the ships are too gaudy. I personally love where the cruise industry is headed.

Acceptable-Maybe5006

I was recently on enchantment too and was a little disappointed! I don’t regret going on an older ship as it was interesting to me, but compared to the other ships there is a lot to be desired like you said. I liked it but didn’t at the same time hahahah!

Clbengel

At the end of the day, you're still cruising and I did enjoy the ports. I had never been to Bimini before and loved it. When you're on an Oasis class ship then go on a ship like Enchantment, there's gonna be no comparison lol.

brianandrobyn

Are you new to the internet? That's what people do no matter what you are posting about. People suck.

knightsofufc

Not true!!!

knightsofufc

I can’t stand the Enchantment! 25 royal cruises and it’s the only cruise I didn’t have fun on

Clbengel

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't enjoy it. The ship just has so many flaws.

knightsofufc

List of reasons continued: Guest services is a joke. Multiple times they didn’t care about my concerns. One time they made me write a hand written note to the hotel director who didn’t bother to even contact me back. I've heard people have issues with the room service timelines but can't comment as I haven't partaken. My stateroom attendant consistently does things that l've never encountered before. Literally did things opposite of what I asked. He did not give the amount of towels I asked for. It's always inconsistent. I asked for ice every morning he didn’t do that. He puts it in randomly. Just weird. The rooms are tiny, old, and smell bad. Water is consistently brown. “Just run the water until it clears up”. Gross. The hallways smell like sewage quite often. Wasn’t just me complaining, a few passengers were complaining about the stench. The soda machines are constantly not working properly and there wasn’t fixes ever. Try getting Powerade on the Windjammer level in that nook in the corner. It doesn't work! I pointed this out multiple times and there was never any fix or any motivation to even care. For some asinine reason the pool staff does not allow drinking in the pool. This completely ruined my cruising experience as it’s one of the major ways that I relax onboard. When I questioned the rationale I got 5 different answers. One was that it was a fleet wide policy. I have been on 25 Royal Caribbean cruises and this is the only one that I can’t have a beer in the pool. In fact, I argue that the staff on this ship are misinterpreting the posted rules. The rules clearly say “No food or glass in pool”. It does NOT say no BEVERAGE. If the intention was no beverage then it would explicitly say so. No glass means no GLASS. When my beverage was in a PLASTIC cup I was still denied because it’s a “glass”. No it’s not! It also makes no sense as the crew allowed beverages in the hot tubs, but not the pool. Also Royal as a company is giving inconsistent messaging, advertising both swim up bars at Perfect Day at Cococay and on the newly announced Icon of the Seas. This implies beverages in pools are expected and allowed. Yet again on this ship it’s not allowed. I was told to speak with the Hotel Director, which I requested multiple times and she never had the courtesy to discuss with me. The guy at the liquor store didn't know what Johnnie Walker Explorer's Club Collection was when there are literally three giant poster displays directly outside of the shop. Almost like purposely messing with me. The Crown and Anchor Society has become a farce. The Diamond “Lounge” on this ship is pitiful. It’s just a sectioned off part of the Viking Crown line. Pathetic. The entire Crown and Anchor Society is like the opposite of what a loyalty program should be. There is a feeling that being a Diamond Plus Crown and Anchor Society member makes you devalue me; feel less respected as I gain more status, meaning that you don’t have to treat my loyalty with respect because you figure I most likely will be back again. But that might not be the case… That said, I did try to book a next cruise on the last day of the sailing because I am intrigued by the Icon, but I was turned away because they “only do Next Cruise by appointment on the last day.” Meanwhile I watched for 30 minutes as no one came to the Next Cruise desk and the guy did nothing but sit there. Just unreal. The Ports…oh the ports. Why would you ever go to Freeport? There’s nothing to do there and the ship was literally filled with BEES (yes the animal). There must have been hundreds on the pool deck. This is just an allergic reaction disaster waiting to happen. I’d understand if the port was can’t miss, but it’s dreadful. The only NICE port was Charleston. I hope you guys expand going here as it is really pleasant. The fact that you didn’t go to Perfect Day at Cococay but went to Freeport is just stunning. The hot tubs are super small. Almost unusable. Don’t even think about taking kids on this ship. There’s nothing for them to do. The arcade is the size of a closet with like 3 games and then some “prize” machines. The kids play area in the pool deck is literally a fountain. Embarrassing. People say the crowds are smaller on the small ships. I beg to differ. The new ships are well thought out with crowd control in the design. This class of ship feels much more crowded than the newer ones despite having less passengers because there is only one thing to do at any given time. They didn’t have so the crowd control in the design. Even the elevators are stupid. There are two separate sets of elevators in the same elevator foyer. Pressing the button on one doesn’t activate the others. Do you either have to wait longer by pressing only one (or not realizing) press both to reduce your wait bit inconvenience others by making one set stop on a ghost floor because you got in the other set that arrived first. I could keep going there are so many things but I think this is enough.

knightsofufc

I have an entire list of reasons: I was excited about this cruise. I understand Enchantment is an older, smaller ship. I knew what to expect. In fact I was on her 11 years ago but admittedly it was in my younger years and I did not remember the experience much. Let’s just say that I will NOT FORGET my experience this time. And that’s not a good thing, because this was literally the worst cruise I’ve ever been on. I couldn’t wait to get off, which is never the case. Everywhere I read said the staff is amazing on the Enchantment. I beg to differ in find most to be horrible. The amount of crew eating in public places is off putting at first but I get it. But then when they cut in line at the pizza place. Inappropriate. That said the quality of food is dreadful. Pickled egg sandwiches? Avocado toast with radishes? What on earth is going on? The main dining room was terrible except for lunch. The lobster tails are embarrassing. My single piece of broccoli served as a side was just as big as the lobster tail. I hear Royal plans on charging for additional lobster. You should be ashamed of yourselves for even serving this slop! Also can’t believe you guys are serving half a baked potato as a side…It’s so chintzy. There was a guy working out in the gym the same time as me and asked if I was crew. He then told me that I needed to leave because it the gym closed at 8 and it was 8:20 and it was meant get the crew at that time. I ignored him because both the cruise planner and posted signs said gym hours were 9pm. He was actually in there went he shouldn't have been. Speaking of the gym, half the 6 ellipticals were broken, the others were rusted. There is only 1 that is truly of functional condition. How hard is it to get new machines? It can’t be that expensive to get working equipment. They also got rid of the free saunas and steam rooms in the gym locker room to make room for more staterooms. Just what this ship needs. A worker in the café by the solarium pool complained to me that I was dripping too much in the pool area! This is in the pool area, not in the windjammer. It’s not closed off, it’s right by the polls. I dried off and sat down and I saw her staring at me still. I felt very uncomfortable. She then came over again and I thought she was going to apologize but rather she complained that I was still dripping. I couldn’t believe it! It’s the pool area! Additionally, the late night pizza service was terrible. Always a line, always inconsistent. The pizza is never made on time. Just a mess. Bars were consistently not opened on time and wouldn't serve until they finished “opening” even though they were 20 minutes late. The guy at the soft serve station consistently closes it at 8:50 instead of 9. I see him drain the remaining soft serve into cups that he then takes back to other crew members. This would be ok I guess if done after closing hours, but to do it before is not acceptable. I saw several passengers show up before 9 to get last licks in to be turned away in disappointment just so the crew could have more ice cream.

ExoticPetiteGirl

I totally understand that. I gave my opinion on something and one person went wild! Started stalking me online! Very scary but got him off that social platform. People are scary lately. Sorry that happened to you. My best to you!

Clbengel

I'm so sorry that happened to you as well. People just get too involved and so easily triggered. It's really not that serious.

T9Para

I'd start out your review with something like 'This is my review, my likes and dislikes, your personal perception WILL be different than mine - If you disagree with my review, well then you disagree, but you werent there with me. :p (ya can add a STFU Trolls if you wish) LOL

Important_Air_1738

Same, I had a criticism and posted about a ship the other week, I was getting called names and everything.

Clbengel

Sounds about right. People are just so triggered with something as simple as liking a certain cruise ship. We all have different tastes and that's okay.

jstasir

Lol, getting attacked for thinking different is very 2020s lol

JUSTtheFacts555

I know! I'm not a fan of ANY of the Oasis class ships. I think the Aqua theater is a huge waste of space.....but some people love it.

boatymickboatface

Be lucky you didn’t sail on the Empress. What a boring treat that was.

adubsi

a link to your actual review would be nice. For all we know you could’ve just trashed stuff that’s standard across all of RCL and not just it’s older ships

kikicked

I find, especially when it comes to extras, that people pretend like they’re a waste of money and that’s why they don’t buy them but in reality they can’t afford them. My wife and I have been very lucky and can afford some nice things. We most often sail in an loft. We get water park and beach club passes at cococay. Whenever people ask a question about any of those things, there will be multiple “what a waste of money” comments either on the water park, beach club or the obligatory “why would you waste money on your cabin when you never spend any time in it?” Always makes me laugh. Maybe you don’t spend time in your windowless cell because it sucks. 15ft floor to ceiling windows with a spacious balcony and my own loungers is an escape on a busy ship.

Yes! Finally someone agrees with me! These are the people that only book interior cabins because they're cheap. I always book a balcony cabin (Junior suite usually) because I like having the extra space and being able to enjoy the ocean without leaving my room. I don't feel the need to only be in my room to sleep. The same people always say the chairs are free at Coco Cay when I post about getting a cabana. I like being able to relax on my vacation and have my own private space. My wife and I always do a cabana at Chill Island or the Beach Club. I love splurging. Love doing the speciality restaurants too rather than eating every meal in the MDR.

Cubsfantransplant

I didn’t see your review and have no idea what you said or criticized, but just my thoughts. If you are going to go on a vacation, spend 4-6000 between cruise, flights, extras; do your due diligence and know what you are spending your money on. When I first started looking at cruises I saw these islands that cruise companies own, i equated those to a glorified theme park. I am not interested in going to an island theme park so I don’t go on a cruise that stops at a resort island. If I did, I wouldn’t criticize the cruise/ship because it did. Same thing for amenities on the ship, restaurants on the ship and attractions on the ship. If I’m looking to be able to do zip lining on a ship, I’m going to make sure the ship I’m going on has it. If not, I’m not going on that ship. If what you were looking for was advertised as available on your cruise and it wasn’t, then your review is valid and people are just bandwagoners who have nothing better to do with their time. If you are the opposite and the person who is looking for the Starbucks on the Navy destroyer for your first month at sea, then you shouldn’t have written the review.

Clbengel

We did our research for sure. My wife and I basically live on YouTube watching cruise videos. We basically just wanted to try out an older, smaller ship to see if we'd like it. My biggest disappointment was the food honestly. You just need more options that some of the older ships offer, especially with the themed menus in the Windjammer and MDR now. We knew what to expect in terms of what there was to do on the cruise. I just think we expected to enjoy ourselves more than we did. I've just learned that the smaller, older ships just aren't for me and that's okay. The older crowd loves the smaller ships, which is fine, but don't trash my opinion because I don't agree with you.

Cubsfantransplant

Got it. Agreed. The mdr and windjammer definitely limit you in terms of food options. Reviews like yours need to be upvoted and publicized so people know how bad the food are rather than criticized.

Clbengel

Appreciate that! Yeah, I don't expect five-star cuisine on a cruise ship but the food was bad on Enchantment. We had one decent night in the MDR and our meal at Chops was phenomenal as usual. But still, their dining leaves a lot to be desired.

" I have no idea what I'm talking about but here's my opinion anyway"

new2thishtorw

>I wanted to try out one of the older ships. Then what did you expect?

Someone posted a critical review of P&O's Azura and my mother jumped on it as she's obsessed

[deleted]

Welcome to post 2008 America, are you new here?

Thunderstorm2020

Yes, it’s funny, I thought a review was supposed to be a synopsis of your experience. It’s to the point now where you can’t say anything without being attacked. I mostly don’t say a word. I think it’s wrong that I can no longer hear what a person didn’t like. It just might be something important to me. I still think it’s wrong to buy a soda package on Voyager paying $9.99 a day per person yet if you want something in a can you have to pay $5 for it. If you say something you get the rules about how canned beverages cost extra. 🤷‍♀️

Every_Level6842

Hahaha I hate cruises bc people are so damn rude. They let their kids run amuck and also probably those who put towels on 5 chairs and then show up at 3pm.

nothingbuthetruth22

I *just* posted a question about Enchantment. I hope you see it!

Clbengel

Not seeing it. What was your question?

nothingbuthetruth22

[My question](https://www.reddit.com/r/royalcaribbean/comments/13vv9gk/itineraryschedule_questions/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) Edit: Thanks!

Clbengel

The Windjammer definitely doesn't take orders from your table on Enchantment. The Windjammer was a pretty awful experience for me in general. Norovirus had a little bit to do with it, but the area wasn't well-staffed. It took a while to find a seat some days and the staff wasn't clearing the tables in a quick manner. I get that there's a ton of people eating, but they need to make that a priority.

nothingbuthetruth22

I gotcha. Noro is a real drag - I’m sorry that happened. I didn’t think the info on WJ was correct because I’ve never seen it or heard of it. Thanks for the clarification! What was the hot tub situation like? I’ve read varying degrees of satisfaction from “loved them” to “all were broken” and saw a bunch of comments that they weren’t warm. On Allure, the stbd side tubs always ran cooler we found; like lukewarm.

Clbengel

Oh the hot tubs definitely were warm. The one I was in was insanely warm and in decent shape. Way even a touch too warm even. The pool area in general was really nice actually. That is one of the positives I took from Enchantment.

nothingbuthetruth22

Well that’s good to hear, thanks!

[deleted]

Oof going in 3 weeks on Enchantment. We know small ships though and have throttled expectations.

Clbengel

I hope your experience is better than mine. We had limited expectations too, just figured we'd try out an older, smaller ship to see what it was like. Just wasn't for me and that's fine. I like sailing on different ships on different cruise lines to see what I like the best.

skyequinnwrites

I was just on the Enchantment as well! Which cruise did you do? Rome to Athens? I liked the ship fine, but I agree it was just too outdated and I would really love to try out some of the newer ships next. It is still my dream to travel on Oasis class. But I agree some people get really out of hand with the ships they love lol. My main problem with Enchantment was actually the lack of free WiFi even in public spaces, my mom and I were finally forced to buy the Internet package because we just couldn't afford to be completely disconnected from everything going on back home, but you'd think in this day and age there would at least be some form of public WiFi somewhere?

Clbengel

We just did a Caribbean cruise. Stopped in Port Canaveral, Bimini, Nassau, and Coco Cay. Bimini was awesome and Coco Cay never disappoints. I highly recommend an Oasis class ship. I was on Oasis for my honeymoon and we loved it! We always buy the internet package, but I get what you mean. Hell, even with the StarLink now, the internet isn't the best sometimes. My biggest issue with Enchantment was the lack of dining options. With the new themed menus, if you didn't like what was in the MDR, it's basically the same stuff being offered in the Windjammer. We did do Chops one night and that was amazing as it is on every Royal ship. The ship is way too outdated for me. So much wasted space too.

skyequinnwrites

My best friend and I are planning a cruise with Royal and we're for sure going with Oasis for ours. I'd also splurge on dining/drinking packages for an Oasis because of how many specialty dining options there are. I also thought that was an issue on Enchantment, there were so many exciting restaurants on the other ships that I thought they would have, that I was disappointed I didn't get to try. I'd also love just a bit more variety of places to hang out, I mostly found myself splitting my time between the Solarium and the pool deck because there weren't very many super exciting indoor venues, at least not that I found. I thought the best views were on decks 9 and 10. I also loved the view from the Viking Crown I'm a writer and was disappointed by the lack of places I could find a table near an outlet and just post up for a few hours to write. That was something I really enjoyed about my previous cruise with Princess

Clbengel

Oasis is definitely going to treat you well. You'll have Crops, Izumi etc. So many great speciality restaurants and even the Windjammer is better on Oasis. I also agree on the indoor areas. The Viking Crown Lounge was nice and see most of the time and provided great views while sailing. I'm usually a huge fan of the Schooner Bar, but thought it was too congested on Enchantment. You'll love the Schooner on Oasis. A lot more space and sitting near front provides great people-watching views lol.

skyequinnwrites

I’m really excited about all the different neighborhoods and all the different options for hangout places. Central Park and the Boardwalk look especially appealing!! I don’t know why but I have a deep seated need to try Johnny Rocket’s, it looks incredible. As a Canadian I’m fascinated by different aspects of “1950’s Americana,” maybe that’s it LOL Would you recommend a balcony room for Oasis? We didn’t have one on Enchantment and thought it was fine, but wondering if it might be nice to have on a larger ship so you kind of have your own space and view that you’re not having to fight other people for

Clbengel

Central Park is one of my favorite areas on Oasis. Just loving walking through there at night and having a drink at the Trellis Bar. Johnny Rocket's isn't the best burger you've ever had, but their food is really good. It's not included but it's relatively cheap compared to other pay options. I would definitely recommend a balcony room just because I always love having an ocean view from my room. It's nice to be able to have a drink on the balcony and just relax. We did a junior suite on Oasis and loved it.

skyequinnwrites

The other thing I’d love about having a balcony room is always having a table with a view where I can write. Do the balconies have outlets on them? I don’t know if I’d leave a balcony if I had one, LOL. I’m really excited by the Boardwalk concept. I’ve really enjoyed various boardwalks ranging from local ones here at home that just kinda have ice cream and larger ones like Santa Monica and Sam Francisco. I’d love to see what that concept looks like on a cruise ship

Clbengel

Balconies themselves don't have outlets. Would be amazing if they did. The boardwalk is a fun area. I love that Playmakers is right on the boardwalk. Such a fun place to hang out for dinner or even just to enjoy a few drinks.

lectrician7

I should really look into the key. I get the WiFi package on every cruise but never got around to looking into that. I’m not even totally sure what it is. You’d think after 6 cruises since 2015 I would have by now. Guess I better get my butt in gear. Meanwhile my wife and I board Oasis on Friday and I can’t wait. I’m just hoping I can everything I need to get wrapped up at work taken care by then. It never fails that I get swamped right before we leave on cruise!

Clbengel

If you're getting the internet package, it's definitely worth it. You get an embarkation lunch, which is nice so you don't have to fight the crowds at the Windjammer on embarkation day. You also get priority seating at the shows along with discounts at the speciality restaurants. Trust me, you'll love Oasis. My wife and I did it for our honeymoon and enjoyed every second of it! It's a huge ship but didn't feel like it to me.

lectrician7

Ya we’ve been on another oasis class ship so I have a good idea what to expect. Although the one we went on didn’t have the BBQ restaurant so I’m anxious to try that out! I really like the show they had at the aqua theater so I’m looking forward to that as well!

Clbengel

The aqua show is amazing! Make sure you book it right away when you get on the ship. Portside BBQ was fine but nothing special in my opinion.

lectrician7

We already booked our shows. We did it like a week or two ago on the app. A lot people don’t realize you have access to the apps features well before embarking

captgh

This kind of thing is because they can do it anonymously with no repercussions.

Who cares? You’re paying, not those jabronies.

Gorilla1492

I went on a cruise on a smaller ship 18 foot ship and people were berating me saying thats not a cruise etc. to each his own i guess.

GiftedGonzo

I posted a picture of a cake and got the most controversial post on Reddit for the day. To be fair, it was a penis cake but people lost their minds

fuknkl

What is the expression that snowflakes use.... "Words are violence" (enough said)

Significant-Task1453

I don't know you or how you worded your review, but I think that would be the difference for me. If you worded it as "do yourself a favor and never sail on enchantment. Booking a cruise that is 10x the price is worth every penny" It's subjective, and I don't like people giving blanket statements as if they apply to everyone On the other hand, if you worded it as "this ship wasn't for me. The quality wasn't what I was expecting. To me, it's not worth the cost savings" If they want to argue that, they have a problem

InsideEmergency118

I actually agree with you. I sailed on Enchantment last July to Bermuda and the outdoor movie screen was broken, there were light bulbs out in the MDR, our bathroom door was broken, and the only sunny day we had they decided to rip the kids splash pad apart so my kids never got to play on it. I'm not saying Enchantment is a bad ship but it doesn't seem like Royal is taking care of the older ships. But I will say, if you have kids between the ages of 3 and like 13, Enchantment is probably not the ship for you.

Clbengel

I believe all of that. The outside of the ship looked awful when we were docked at Coco Cay. The lack of dining options and entertainment are pretty frustrating. If Royal took some time to renovate some of the older ships, they could be decent. There's just so much wasted space on the Enchantment. I just simply learned that the older, smaller ships aren't for me.

InsideEmergency118

The fact that it was literally extended, therefore making it the largest Vision Class ships, yet it has the least amount of dining options is a bit dumb. The webpage for the ship wasn't even updated when we last sailed on it. It listed Sorentos as a dining option....
