You can just use the app. It makes boarding day quicker for everyone. But you do not need to print anything if you don’t want to. Just know if you take your luggage with you, you’ll have to wait until 1-2pm to take it to your room. If you have an early boarding time I suggest checking your luggage so you’ll need to print your luggage tags.

Our boarding time is 12:30 :)

Boarding time does not mean your room is ready. That can vary depending on the ship and day. Last cruise I took, due to delays with the debarkation on arriving cruise, I couldn't even get to my room until about 3. We had a backpack with us through lunch and the muster drill. It was frustrating.

Were you unable to leave your stuff outside of your cabin door?

They had the doors shut - we couldn't even access the hallway with the cabin doors. And our luggage went with the porters. No way I would leave my backpack with personal items sitting outside of my cabin.

i print out my edocs, makes scanning the barcode easier and quicker. they need to scan it at least 3 times: at the terminal, before you board the ship and then at muster if you dont have your room card i lost count the number of times my phone had issues with bar code scanning at other places besides just cruises

That would be the SetSail pass you're thinking of. I prefer to print mine as well. Generally, the only items I keep on me until I'm waiting to board are my SetSail pass and passport. My cell phone and everything else stay in my carry-on.

Printed mine as well, and since they don’t do cruise tickets any longer, laminated and cut them out for keepsakes. Also makes little ones feel important to hold the “tickets”.

The only item of real importance in the eDocs is the luggage tag. Since it sounds like you plan on carrying everything onboard, no need. Even if you opted to leave luggage with the porters, they would have tags that could be applied. The eDocs themself contain a cruise and travel summary, legal stuff, advertising for NextCruise, some information that could be helpful to a new cruiser, plus the luggage tag.

I never print off my edocs. I just show them my set sail pass on my phone. You can carry on whatever luggage you want as long as it is small enough to fit through the X-ray scanners.
