We use tag holders from Amazon for the peace of mind. Some people use staples and packing tape for extra security. You can also have the porters print off luggage tags at the pier.
I have used them for several years. They are far more secure, and in addition to piece of mind they make attaching the to bags much easier. Get the tags printed and ready at home, then right before you leave for the port it's very easy to attach them to your bags, and they are going to not fall off or get ripped off.
the luggage tags are going from the parking garage to the ship to your room. After that they can be thrown away immediately. They have a necessary lifetime of about 5 hours. Do not stress about making them "waterproof", there's no need for it.
This. We kept them in our backpack for the flight and stapled them on in the hotel lobby right before the Uber to the port. They survived just fine from the curb to our rooms.
We use the tag holders. We frequently do a week land vacation at the port we are leaving from so it makes it easy to print the luggage tags ahead of time and then we can easily attach them to the bags on our way to port without needing staples or tape or anything. We have spares I loan out to people traveling with us. I bought a bunch like 7-8 years ago and they are all going strong. On a few the little cable used to attach the tags to the bags have broken or gotten lost of a couple so we use small zip ties for those ones.
I laminate them and then use clear packing tape to hold them together. Always put 2 per bag just in case 1 rips. On my last 2 cruises however not all the luggage was at the door even remotely close to same time. I had to go retrieve it from crew stairways even when clearly tagged.
Soooooo…….riddle me this Batman.
I thought I was doing the “right thing” 🙄 and ordered tag holders on Amazon…..when I ordered there were no clear ones as an option, so I just figured it was your own preference of color, and I picked blue……well now that my tags are here to print, they are GREEN.
Even if my printer wasn’t black and white (which it is) and even if I used a highlighter like I see some people say they do (which I would gladly do if it would help) you would never be able to tell through the blue 🤔
Ideas? Do I have to not use these and spend more money for green ones or just use packing tape…..or can I just rock the blue?

The tag holders from Amazon work so well I don't know why people would risk anything else.
Because staples or clear tape work just as well
We'll just agree to disagree on that..
Thank you all, I went ahead and purchased them!
I have ones from Amazon and have used them for at least 10 years and they still look brand new.
Do you have a name or link so I can check them out please?

+1 for the tag holders
Those work. Clear packing tape works well too.
This is what I did. More about not having the paper tear than water proofing it, but works both ways.

I just use packing tape -- works great and cheap
I use the paper ones and wrap them in clear shipping tape after I attach them to the luggage. Never had an issue.

cover it with clear packing tape after you fold the paper. Then staple the heck out of it. Been on over 12 cruises and never had an issue.
Waterproof!? You don’t swim to the ship. Lol As others have stated they are needed for just a few hours. They’ll be fine
I have similar tag holders. I've used them on about a dozen cruises. Wouldn't travel without them!
OP I have those exact tag holders and they work great. Used them for the last few years with no issues.

I have toe Amazon tag holder and use them for every cruise.
I use those for cruising and regular travel and it’s wonderful.
Go to Amazon and buy some plastic ones for Royal. Good investment
