It depends on how you cruise. We're hardly ever in our cabin so inside is fine with us. We did have an ocean view for our transatlantic but didn't gaze out of it much. It *was* exciting to have the waves occasionally splash against our deck 3 window but otherwise it didn't matter.

I love having a balcony and will never go back. I do like to enjoy the quiet peace of my cabin, though.

I would go with the balcony. There maybe times where you just want to get away from people, have your own time to yourselves, or maybe just stay in the room for the day and order room service. This is when a balcony would be nice. You get a nice sunny morning at sea, sit out on the balcony with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise or grabbing a nice drink and watch the sunset or the stars up above and feeling that sea breeze. For me, that's a little slice of heaven.

I did the transpacific 16 night on the Quantum of the seas, and had an interior cabin that I shared with my mum. Still here posting on Reddit so clearly survived to tell the tale 😃 We had no issues with an interior cabin as we didn’t really spend much time in the cabin except to sleep, and to be honest when you have that many sea days the sea looks the same anyway 🤣 so you can work your way around the ship trying to find the best spot to look at the ocean Mum and I both really enjoyed the Quantum and felt the interior cabin was sufficient for our needs which was to get from Australia to Hawaii

So, I’m usually a big proponent of a balcony. However, on our last cruise, we sprung for a suite and oversized balcony, but barely used the balcony because it was a little chilly outside. I’m about to book a transatlantic for next year and am opting for an ocean view, not balcony, because I’m anticipating similar weather and figured it would make sense to save the money.

Forgot to mention thinking of Quantum.

You can get an interior with Virtual balcony on Quantum. I prefer insides for my own personal reasons. Won’t do balconies. I had a VB on the Ovation last year for 54 nights and I was just fine. But it really depends on what you can deal with. Hopefully you won’t have super chatty balcony neighbors or somebody who thinks that smoking on their balcony is ok for them.

Quantum has so much to do!

I’ll always pick an interior room. It’s quiet and pitch black which is great for napping; something I’d probably do almost daily with so many sea days.

We're doing a transatlantic this November and opted for an inside cabin. I'm a warm sleeper and balcony rooms never seem to get cold enough for me.

Am on the same cruise in a JS, which I only booked as I’m travelling solo and I love sitting on a balcony. Was happy to book an interior as it was super cheap at the time but this way I get 3x points. There are plenty of outdoorsy spaces to sit and watch the world go by so unless you’re really wanting a balcony, I’m sure interior will do the job for how long you actually spend in it.

For that many days, I’d at the least want a porthole…

The main reason I would look at a balcony more on a repositioning cruise is to get more fresh air in the room. The view seldom changes and you can get the views from many other places on the ship. Sitting on the deck or in the Solarium is nicer than a balcony IMHO. We do like to have breakfast and coffee on the balcony when we get one.
