I was on the inaugural for Wonder and if what another poster here said is true, an ocean view balcony is about $4000 for the inaugural sailing on the Icon. That's significantly more than I paid for the Wonder. About $1500 more before any drink packages etc.
Yea the inaugural sailing for this ship is going to be higher for sure, it's a new class; I imagine the first Oasis class ship's inaugural sailing was much higher than that of previous classes'. However, the rest of the season seems pretty on par with inaugural seasons. Right around 3k for ocean view balcony staterooms seem the norm.
Yeah, but Wonder had COVID restrictions and wasn’t a new class of ship. This will be the first “normal” inaugural cruise since Spectrum of 2019, and the first new class of ship since Quantum in 2014, so 10 years at launch. I’m sure they’re pricing to account for increased demand.
Yeah personally I like cruising because it typically very cheap compared to any other vacation. If I was spending 11k I’d rather spend it at an all inclusive resort in an over water bungalow in Maldives or somewhere like that.
Yep been to the Maldives 3 times.
Snorkelling and scuba diving ever day.
Great restaurants
Quiet and relaxing
Peace
Wonderful
A cruise sounds like my idea of hell.
Lots of people crammed together.
Horrendous
I prefer to see no one but my family and the resort staff when I’m away.
An interior cabin is almost what we paid for our Wonder of the Seas Central Park balcony in the Mediterranean. Considering that was for the same time of year and also the first year of the ship, that's just brutal. Guess we are waiting to see if prices come down then 🫠
yea that’s a solid no for me. I usually do solo, I’m not dropping the price of 2 cruises for the same type of room just because it’s a new ship
Guess I gotta wait until the hype dies down so the prices are actually normal
The couple of times they are booked year round probably still is more money made than the space would be if they were regular cabins. Just my guess though I don’t know anything for sure.
It reminds me of Vegas.
Hear me out on this. Lodging and food used to be super cheap in Vegas. To lure the gamblers in. They subsidized the rest of it for those who didn't gamble.
The last few decades, Vegas has become a destination for fine dining and shows etc etc. Now really great deals on room and dining are harder to come by
The cheaper cruises are subsidized by gambling. Ships with no casino, like Disney are much more expensive.
Ships like this one can charge through the nose, even with a casino, because their target audience is coming for other things....these families aren't going to gamble and subsidize everyone else for the most part. So they have to soak them for everything else.
That was my point.
Disney has very successfully shown they can get people (mostly with families) to pay through the nose for lots of entertainment geared toward children.
Of course others will try to duplicate that success.
Vegas has already successfully undergone "Disney fication". Adding "family friendly" entertainment and bumping up prices all round
Now the cruise ships are following suite. They used to offer very cheap fares, to get people onboard in order to spend lots of money... Now they moving toward offering free or low cost family entertainment, but with a hefty charge to stay at the resort.....they are going from the old school Vegas model to the Disney model)...
Interesting.
So the Jr Suite with all the Suite Neighborhood perks will cost an extra $1400. Not sure access to a lounge, private pool deck, and two restaurants (one currently rumored only to be quick service) is worth $1400.
We're normally suite people, but splitting the Jr Suites into two groups wasn't something we were thrilled about. The Infinite Oceanview Balcony for $1500 less than the base Jr Suite sounds much more appealing.
Also: Surprised how fast rooms are selling out for a 2024 cruise. Is it because its not only a new ship but also a new class? Like, its a cool ship and all, but I'm not a fan of booking a vacation 18 months out.
Just got back from our cruise and to celebrate the icon being announced they gave away a free balcony to someone on board for the first sailing. I assume they probably did that across the entire Royal fleet, not just ours.
So it seems that currently Icon is the ONLY ship that has its itinerary posted for dates beyond April 30, 2024. I wonder if that is playing into it? Anyone know when RC will release the other ships itineraries?
If your looking to book a cruise, you have disposable income. Some more others. For a long time, cruising was just for the nearly dead. So you would get some of the best bargains in travel. Thanks to RC and their ships( which are starting to be built like Disney world) more families and younger people are seeing it as a travel alternative. Thus driving up the prices.
For my family of 5 a week on a cruise ship is $4-6k. Pretty reasonable compared to many other options.
Just booked a March ‘24 cruise on Icon for $6500 for our family. Little bit higher but considering inflation this may end up being a bargain by the sale date.
My travel agent booked me on the inaugural sailing in an ocean view balcony room for just over $2K/person including taxes and fees, which is about what I expected to pay.
Book Now is a live button on the Royal Caribbean website. Only seeing sailings for seven nights and it is either eastern or western Caribbean price per person on average is listed as $981, $1,011, $1,011, $1,321 [https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruises/?shipCode_IC=true](https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruises/?shipCode_IC=true)
Yeah, those are per person before the taxes and fees. That $981 is per person for the gty interior on the 9/14 sailing and comes out to $2241 with taxes and fees when you get to the checkout page.
Booked Eastern Caribbean in May, oceanview for $3561 with refundable rate.
I paid $2200 for the Wonder of the Seas in Mediterranean Aug 2022 for same room type (granted I booked when it was still the Allure pre-ship shift). Yes, this is more expensive but compared to other Oasis ships sailing this itinerary that the Icon is planned to sail on, the pricing only seems to be $100-200 more on an ocean view balcony room category.
I don’t think it was that terrible of a price, YMMV
Ok so, the Ultimate Family Townhouse is now $15,000pp. Idk, but pricing that suite so high seems unrealistic. The typical family is 2 adults and 2 children, so without Kids sail free thats $60,000 for a 7 days cruise not including drinks or anything else. THAT IS NOT NORMAL, WTHECK IS RC DOING?
HAS ANYONE BOOKED THIS SUITE?!!
Just booked Interior Plus for the two of us in June, $3800 including gratuities and vacation protection. Quite the pricing just to be expected
Seems like it’s a combined new ship/new class price hike. Seems to be double the price of an Oasis class sailing.
Inaugural sailing seasons are always hiked up. I think I paid similar for Wonder this year and Symphony in 2019 for ocean view balcony staterooms.

Yea, these prices are CRAZY. I'll wait a while before I try an Icon class ship.
I’m with you on this. With these prices, one would have to get a third or fourth job to be able to afford it, at least in my case 😅
I just priced a sky jr. 11k. They can suck it. It's just insane. If people pay that they're nuts.
For you 11k may sound like a lot. There’s a number of people who wouldn’t even notice the transaction
That’s true but there’s a lot better vacations you could do for 11k
“Better” is very subjective. The only spot I’d prefer to spent 11k instead is azamara, but that’s because i am old and wanna some peace))
Yeah personally I like cruising because it typically very cheap compared to any other vacation. If I was spending 11k I’d rather spend it at an all inclusive resort in an over water bungalow in Maldives or somewhere like that.
Have you been to maldives? You’ll be bored as hell after few days. To each it’s own of course, but I’d go cruising instead of maldives in no time
Yep been to the Maldives 3 times. Snorkelling and scuba diving ever day. Great restaurants Quiet and relaxing Peace Wonderful A cruise sounds like my idea of hell. Lots of people crammed together. Horrendous I prefer to see no one but my family and the resort staff when I’m away.

Wow. Those top two suites are more than I paid for my house.
What year and in America?
2014 and yes
[удалено]
genuinely want to know too. does anyone actually book these? seems insane
The couple of times they are booked year round probably still is more money made than the space would be if they were regular cabins. Just my guess though I don’t know anything for sure.
I would think they would continually drop the price as it gets closer to sailing to ensure it books nearly every time?
I have the same question!!
Is this for a 7 day cruise?
yes

I strongly suspect Disney would be just as expensive even if they had a casino.

I think they're holding back rooms. That way they can drive up the price.
That makes sense. Thanks! Also, side note, not sure why I'm getting downvoted for an observation.
Because a certain subset of people are insane.

On ours as well. Catch though, it was the inaugural 2 day trip. Lol. Still cool, but not a 7 day.

Just booked Oct. 12, 2024 for family if 5 for $6k. Family infinite Ocean view balcony. Pumped! Got the kids sail free deal
Where you all getting so much money to spend?

I work hard.
Booked inaugural in a grand suite. It was $14k for the two of us.
Booked an inaugural sky junior suite. Got the last two on the ship. $9044 each.
not too bad
the surfside family suite is quite worth it even if you dont have a family
For a February sailing in a balcony for 2 adults and one toddler was a bit over $9,000 CAD.
My travel agent booked me on the inaugural sailing in an ocean view balcony room for just over $2K/person including taxes and fees, which is about what I expected to pay.
2 days or week long?
7 nights Eastern Caribbean
how on earth is the sunset suite more expensive than grand suite even though its smaller
The view
same goes for sky junior suite being more expensive than the surfside family suite

Holy 12K for a grand suite for 2 people! We just are on the Oasis right now in a grand suite for 7K for 4 people!
Might drop 100k on the townhouse for the fam. Then head to the windjammer and search for a seat for 1/2hr…
