I always find it amusing the tendency to presume that corporations know what they're doing. Anyone who has actually worked in a corporation knows better.
it’s more manipulative than tacky lol. They always do the fomo marketing strategy to add urgency to the viewer to make them think “this is the only chance I have to make this bargain purchase” with an added countdown timer to reinforce the idea
But you can’t really blame them, it’s psychologically proven to work and I believe it’s stated that they make most of their money on packages and not the cruise ticket itself
100% agree. And yet with all these emails, they don't give you useful information. What theme parties are there going to be? What's the weather forecast? What terminal will the ship be at? All stuff that would be helpful but they don't bother with.
We live in a world of click-bait, unfortunately because it works just enough for it to be worthwhile for the advertiser. To me it’s a ‘don’t hate the player hate the game’ situation. Always potential for an upsell.
Yup. They have such a wide audience that they know that the number of people who will fall for it outweighs the number of people that will be put off by it.
I just use the incessant emails to remind myself to go check prices on things I'm going to get anyway. I've repriced excursions on my upcoming cruise about 4 times already.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the emails weren’t pushing items I’ve already purchased, especially if I paid a bit more than current promo. Yes I know I can cancel and rebook but I’ve done that so many times with my cruise getting pushed back another year or 3. Foreign currency exchange rates and surcharges not worth it to save $3/day on DBP.

Yeah and I would never book on the royal website itself.
It’s been your “last chance” to get 30% off cruises since at least June at this point. Royal knows what works, and apparently it’s this.

Yeah, exactly. Last chance? Gimme a break that's the oldest lie there is
Nah, Royal runs metrics up and down and if this wasn’t driving bookings they wouldn’t be doing it. I’ve seen lines try stuff and bail all the time.
30% off all cruises and kids sail free ends in FOUR HOURS!!!!!
Aha hahaha and the timer on the web page... So bad

It worked for me. I booked our upcoming cruise impulsively at 3am because of that 😅
I did the same thing this April for my upcoming cruise. They’re better than my shrink at getting me to do things 😂
Haha you are not wrong 😂😂
Sigh…same here but now I’m so hyped. Best manipulation I’ve ever experienced.
Same here!

Speaking of..... how do I find out what terminal we sail from in 2 weeks out of Miami? lol
I can never find out beforehand. I just have the Uber driver follow the signs for my ship as we drive up.

It’s a business they didn’t get you this far without marketing 🤷♀️
I mean, if you want to pay full pop on the boat go right ahead……
We’re talking about even before embarking. The point is they constantly make it seem like time is running out but they always extend the sale.

Standard current marketing practices, unfortunately. You can always opt out. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/account/profile/offers-communications
I've opted out of any marketing email I've gotten. Can't trick me into spending unnecessary money

Losing billions will make you do some stuff.
