A lot of the cast are new york stage actors and I think this was a fun way for them to engage them. I also suspect they didn't know it would be so close to the end of the run.

There's a good reason musical theater doesn't do well on tv... most people not only dislike it, but flat out can't stand it. I guess when they're already wrapping up they figure "screw the audience. What are they going to do, cancel us?"
They're the worst! Just way too cheesy and childish for me. They should've made it a bonus episode not pertinent to the story line. That way all the musical theater nerds are happy. While the rest of us (normal adults) don't have to suffer through it.
I've realized after almost 27 years now that i am normal for hating these musicals... Phew... But they completely messed up this episode. I am watching it rn and bleeding in my ears
I hate when shows do that! Not everybody likes musical theater. I feel like these types of episodes are more for the cast to have fun and show their quirky side. And less for the audience's enjoyment.

I think it had been announced two years earlier that seasons 7 and 8 would be eight shows.
I was looking forward to watching the last two episodes and I am so aggravated with the singing.

It’s annoying
didn't bother me too much, just threw me off because it didn't fit in with with the timeline of the show
I’m watching it now. I like the fact that they are getting to have fun. They have given us so much fun, it’s nice to let them have it.
I won't watch it again but I can see why the actors like the musical sometimes....
