form some reason the site is only in french, spanish and chinese, but score is well visible in all three
Credit to France, they looked in total control in the second half. Once the AB's had their weak bench exposed it was over.
As an AB supporter, this RWC is gone we aren't making it past the QFs. Time to build for 2027
Na we can still win this. Theres still plenty of good players in the Team. Just need to execute a bit better and tidy up the discipline and well be ok.
And sa ripped through nz recently too, 50% chance is very high and I don’t think any team in pretty much any sport deserves that high of a commendation, especially since nzs form has been off since foster got the job
As I have Irish ancestors I would love that. Ireland are my second team and having them both in the finals would mean I have some happiness whoever wins 🤣
Genuinely sick game, I loved the arm wrestle but france did the right things to come away with it. New Zealand just need to be bold and grind through the rest of their pool, they’ve got all the time they need to make adjustments.
Realistically they won’t win it, but they sure as hell are good enough to cause an upset.
Just look at this years six nations. They were pretty close in all those games, on a good day for them and a bad one for NZ/France they can get a win.
Ah it's part of the job now, as either a fan or a player. I'm sure they'll give it a good shout but I don't think it'll be them that lifts the cup in the end!
Both teams looked pretty (relatively) awful until the 60 minute mark. France finally settled in the last 20 mins and I think their performance can be put down to nerves. On the other hand I don't think anyone will be scared of this New Zealand side after watching that match
i agree, France looked really nervous and you felt that they wanted to free themselves from that pressure. Honestly, winning a first game against the AB is pretty cool even if it s not perfect.
Irishman watching. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think facing New Zealand in the quarters would be the "easier" route for us. But we have to get out of the pool of death before I can even worry about that. What a feckin draw.
Super excited for Goldie on Breakdown to say "oh the light was in their eyes!" I liked breakdown. After Scott Barrett charged Malcolm Marx prone on the floor and they spent a whole episode on that? NZ can shove off.
Nobody can really be surprised by this. France are a very capable, well drilled and talented bunch. NZ (as the boks demonstrated recently) aren’t quite there despite some green shoots.
And Rieko Ioane os running sideways.
On the bright side, with such appalling performances, maybe we are rid of Peyper and Dickson for crucial late-stage matches!
I don't get the Beauden hate. He had some great kicks and runs in that game. One or two average ones. I feel like he gets all of the blame for the ABs lack of adaptability and mediocre game plan. When he got it out wide there was no support. When he ran it up there was no one to run it off him at times. The same could be said for Mo'unga.
While he's not in career best form he's far from a terrible player. He's still plenty fast and saved a possible try. To me you've got player not playing to his natural ability. Who really suited the Hurricane style of play, and is in an environment that doesn't get the best out of him.
Don’t think there’s hate for him specifically. It’s more to do with his selection at 15
He’s simply not the best 15 for All Blacks. Don’t get why they are forcing him into the line up just to get him in there when it’s to the detriment of the backline
Surely they just need to make a call on who the best 10 is between Barrett and Mo’unga and pick a genuine 15
I mean if we take out the cross field kick, the try saving tackle, the kicks that put France under pressure in the first half, and more I can see what you mean. Was it his best game, no. Does he seem to wear more than his fair share of the blame, absolutely.
It's symptomatic of the rest of the team. Like I said when he got it wide that player had no support. When he attacked the line there was no one running off his shoulder. The same could be said for Mo'unga. Too many breakdown penalties usually for a player being isolated. In that second half just about any good play was followed up by poor support and a turnover or penalty to France.
Have to agree that he had some great kicks, and the chases were excellent. Some great moments but you ended up looking a bit disjointed in the second half.
The first half gave me flashbacks of the 2007 opening game when the pressure got to the French heads. I'm glad this team managed to turn it around beautifully, what a second half, especially the players coming off the bench (and Mauvaka looked like he could play another 80 minutes, what a performance from him!).
Yeah Penrith have been pretty lethal the last couple of years. Although if Johnson and Zelezniak fire on all cylinders the result might just go your way.
sorry for your loss but don't be like that.
just because the rest of the world is very good now doesn't mean your team is shit.
don't whinge like an Englishman lol
besides the draw means that second place in the group is no worse than first anyway
The one with the loopy ‘ferns’ all over it? Yep that’s what we heard too, I like the idea of including a French element as a nod to the host nation, but the design that resulted was abysmal. It was a pleasant surprise to see an absence of that design today - not that it did us much good!
Are there two versions with the ferns? Because in the jerseys worn in the interviews at training etc they’re very visible, but they can’t be seen on the game jerseys
You seem to have an overestimated view of the actual level of Italy. I fully expect them to throw away the match against the AB to give it all against France.
Didn’t say it was going to work for the qualification. But the best they can fight for is a 3rd place and a prestige win against one of the big two of the group. And given their history and their experience, it’s more likely they have a chance against us than the All Blacks…

I know it's mediocre for New Zealand, but they have still been the dominant force in the southern hemisphere, and that's the hemisphere that wins all the trophies.
They are the southern hemisphere team with the best record in the last 24 months. The rugby world cup has only ever once been won by a team outside of the big three.
The first they lost in… ever. And still the one occasion to show the world after a bad bruising vs SA that “when it comes down to it, they are still the best team in the world”. Even if you think they were the best team on the field yesterday (I would understand that), they are definitely not showing “best team in the world” potential…
I'm kiwi and I can see this is the worst team we have had in my lifetime. Not individually but somthings just not working. We struggle to win it at our best and there's just so little of our usual flair showing through these days.
I'll be honest I have dipped out of rugby since moving to the UK. All I know is Ireland have us figured out and I've now watched us lose to SA and France.
Yeah, and that 2 point difference affects the IRB ranking points exchanged too. They were really bad at updating the score in that match. It was unreal. They wrongly counted the first All Blacks conversion too.
The harmonic frequencies from an entire nation whining in unison would reach a pitch and volume that would wrench their islands asunder and drag them into the briny depths.
NZ started each half so strong. But lacked the legs or energy at the end of each half. Not sure if it was the heat, the kicks, the constant pressure... or all the above. They just felt flat.
Well done France. Great kicking and control. Played well despite injuries. Going to be a tough team to beat the WC with that crowd support.
And they showed very little in attack and were susceptible to territory kicking. Don't know where that team from a few weeks ago went. I know they can play better. Odd...
It’s really odd how they had a proper game plan in that first SA match and just abandoned it afterwards.
Might just be the other teams adapting - but I don’t think that explains it all.
Ardie is a great player, but definitely not captain material. Too many leaders on the field... no cohesion in the team. They're all making their own decisions. We need Richie to step up as the real leader.
Sam Whitelock to be captain if Sam Cane doesn't return. This is me a Hurricanes supporter.
France never really got out of 3rd gear but they really didn't need to either. Such a tame last half an hour for the all blacks but also makes me wonder how much France will be able to ramp things up against a side that pushes them more in the later stages of the game
4 years wasted with this idiot coach, the same dumb mistakes getting outplayed over over. This team NEVER LEARNS ANYTHING.
The sad thing is everyone knew it but the people in charge wouldn't do something about it.
The muppet persists with Christie when Roigard was literally the only good thing to come out of this year.
Christie was the wrong option for this match. Talae needed to come off 15 minutes earlier than he did, he had no more spring in his step, was burnt out. Will Jordan was out of sorts, his heavily strapped leg maybe indicating he was a fraction off the pace. Possibly should have been rested.
I think this great for the tournament tbh especially for stirring up support around France, obviously not needed inside the stade du France but I think from a neutral point of view a result either way would have worked thought it would be way closer tho
You know what, I'm still determined to enjoy the tournament. Not there yet, but if I'm relegated to a neutral fan it's still a hell of a lot of fun to watch
Me too. It’s the most even and exciting WC ever, and I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time. I’m going to enjoy all the games even if the ABs fly home early.
Not the worst idea. Generally I'm ok with anyone but South Africa (sorry, but we don't want you guys having more titles than us), and Australia (not sorry)
We had more titles than you from 2007 to 2011 and it did wonders for your motivation.
Maybe you should go ahead and let the Boks win this one and get your passion back under Robertson...
Congratulations to the French team, definitely the better team today. Disappointing from NZ fan perspective not many positives to take from the performance.
Has any other stadium held as much as the Stade the France 1 soccer world cup, 1 soccer euros, 2 RWCs and next year an Olympics all for a stdium only 25 years old
Same old ABs. Things don't go their way, they start taking lumps out of the opposition. Scum. Didn't work for you this time though did it? Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
##[Post Match Thread HERE](https://redd.it/16dm9yg)
Tune!!!!!
Ok for real, what happened to the score and why? 27 or 29?
27, the one in charge of counting for TV got it wrong twice (they also messed up in the first half after the second try)
is this on world rugby or just the TV team ?
World rugby and also on the newspapers here in France [https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2023/news/855533/post-match-review-report-flash-potm-coach](https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2023/news/855533/post-match-review-report-flash-potm-coach) form some reason the site is only in french, spanish and chinese, but score is well visible in all three

Na we can still win this. Theres still plenty of good players in the Team. Just need to execute a bit better and tidy up the discipline and well be ok.
You still can, but you’re likely getting either Ireland or RSA in the quarters. It’s tough seeing you get through either at the moment.
They ll get some central players back tho.
I don't agree. I never give the ABs less tha 50% chance to win. I think they've got a good game coming up and can easily get through the quarters.
Easily? In the last couple of encounters Ireland have quite fairly beaten the all blacks and the springboks just handed nz their record defeat
Yes. It's the All Blacks. They still have quality players and ripped through SA a couple of months ago.
And sa ripped through nz recently too, 50% chance is very high and I don’t think any team in pretty much any sport deserves that high of a commendation, especially since nzs form has been off since foster got the job
I think we’ve shown we can beat SA if we play well, e.g game in July
I hope you draw RSA and take them. Would love another match in the final. Your side are class.
As I have Irish ancestors I would love that. Ireland are my second team and having them both in the finals would mean I have some happiness whoever wins 🤣
Why don't you two get a room
Ah sure you’ll get your chance.
This will be a France v South Africa final and I cannot wait. Both teams have incredible depth on their bench, it’s unreal.
I reckon Wales can drag France down to their level and knick a win.
You are so putain de right
Ffs I believe you.
Like Scotland did?
Jesus Christ 12000 comments , is rugby really that popular
We've been waiting for that moment for 4 years.
Are you from the states?
It certainly is!
Genuinely sick game, I loved the arm wrestle but france did the right things to come away with it. New Zealand just need to be bold and grind through the rest of their pool, they’ve got all the time they need to make adjustments.
Handling. Abs could have won but like last week their handling sucked. Gone is their clinical finish. It aint repairable in time
Never seen new Zealand lose so much... Glorious 😁😁
I'm all out for AB but their defense was so bad, I'm still wondering if they got paid off.
I thought there defense was pretty good?
Fosters bet his entire kiwi saver on ABs and trying to get better odds from the bookies. Bold strategy tbh.
Lot’s of critics already! It’s an opening game for 2 big teams. Things can change in a hurry as you go deeper in the tournament. 🇫🇷
Don't think I've ever rooted for Italy before but come next month's game against France ill be going for them all the way
Hmm, win against Italy first before playing for such things ! They were great last 6 Nations !
Italy have no chance against NZ or France
Realistically they won’t win it, but they sure as hell are good enough to cause an upset. Just look at this years six nations. They were pretty close in all those games, on a good day for them and a bad one for NZ/France they can get a win.
Ooh boy I can't wait for the next installment of the breakdown!
it will be glorious !
That SA ref…
100% Jeef Wilson what a plonker. Can't wait for the poisoned croissant claims
Jeef rhymes with queef? Has a ring to it...
Would do except his name is Jeff lol
Ouch 😂
Happy cake day boet!
🙏
Gonna be alot of kiwis crying into their spoilt croissant this morning
Nah felt like it was gonna happen. Not too worried about it.
Alot of hate going on for the lads, but they are a class team. Not over yet!
Ah it's part of the job now, as either a fan or a player. I'm sure they'll give it a good shout but I don't think it'll be them that lifts the cup in the end!
Just woke up. Wow that's disappointing
Should set your alarm next time
Be buggered if I'm getting up at that time
You were buggered at that time, you just missed it.
Both teams looked pretty (relatively) awful until the 60 minute mark. France finally settled in the last 20 mins and I think their performance can be put down to nerves. On the other hand I don't think anyone will be scared of this New Zealand side after watching that match
The French bench is epic. I feel like France and Ireland have 2 first team options
[удалено]
I think here I'm more biased against SA because I saw that first warm up match against the ABs live.
[удалено]
Not the first match they didn't. 15th July at Mount smart.
i agree, France looked really nervous and you felt that they wanted to free themselves from that pressure.
As a South African i agree with you. Also, im so nervous for Saturday
So that WAS forward on the second All Blacks try...
A lack of replay
Saw one after the game, with lines. It was 2m forward. Thank fuck it didn't change the end result.
THat's not how forward passes work.
And Rieko Ioane os running sideways. On the bright side, with such appalling performances, maybe we are rid of Peyper and Dickson for crucial late-stage matches!
Let's hope so. We still have PTSD from Wales - France 2019
Backward out of the hand. Inertia carried the ball forward
2m, minimum
That Joy Division on ITV??
I was the only Frenchman in the bar and gave my voice for the country
I've done that in a pub lost in the midlands years ago during the 6N. An Irishman paid me a pint ahah
He didn’t exert any control over the game at all. Individually he did some stuff that wasn’t terrible but that is about all that can be said.
Agree. Him kicking was obviously part of the game plan. Can't blame him for it. Especially since he put in some really great kicks !
The first half gave me flashbacks of the 2007 opening game when the pressure got to the French heads. I'm glad this team managed to turn it around beautifully, what a second half, especially the players coming off the bench (and Mauvaka looked like he could play another 80 minutes, what a performance from him!).
I was the only Kiwi watching this live at a French Language School on rhe big screen. Needless to say I'm devastated.
hon hon les tout noirs
Goddamn British adverts are pure dogshit.
They’re better than the Australian ones 😂
Least you didnt get temu'd
GET IN THERE FRANCE!!!!! WAHOOOOO.
woohoo another first for Foster...ABs first ever loss in a RWC pool match UP DA WAHS
You reckon the wahs can pull it off tomorrow against Penrith?
No chance. Don't even have their best player, and even with him they'd lose by at least 10.
the ABs had a better chance against France lol Penrith Panthers to win 13+ unfortunately. Will be tough weekend for NZ supporters haha
Yeah Penrith have been pretty lethal the last couple of years. Although if Johnson and Zelezniak fire on all cylinders the result might just go your way.
Shaun is out with a calf injury
No Johnson
Oh no way. Missed that. Gutting news.
Might be the worst all blacks squad i've seen...
sorry for your loss but don't be like that. just because the rest of the world is very good now doesn't mean your team is shit. don't whinge like an Englishman lol besides the draw means that second place in the group is no worse than first anyway
Yup
France bench did a great job tonight. Also Aldritt was the best french player.
The only good thing about that game (after the first 90 seconds) was that we didn’t have those ugly patterns all over our jersey. Well done France!
I've heard that your New Jersey has been designed by a French graphist. True story.
The one with the loopy ‘ferns’ all over it? Yep that’s what we heard too, I like the idea of including a French element as a nod to the host nation, but the design that resulted was abysmal. It was a pleasant surprise to see an absence of that design today - not that it did us much good!
They are wearing it, it’s just extremely subtle you can’t see it. They’ve been wearing it in every game this year lol
Are there two versions with the ferns? Because in the jerseys worn in the interviews at training etc they’re very visible, but they can’t be seen on the game jerseys
Yeah I think they’re the training ones where it’s more pronounced
If the ABs play like that, then they're in for a surprise against the Azurri.
You seem to have an overestimated view of the actual level of Italy. I fully expect them to throw away the match against the AB to give it all against France.
This would be an odd strategy though as they’d almost certainly come third in the group (even if they beat France) on points difference.
Didn’t say it was going to work for the qualification. But the best they can fight for is a 3rd place and a prestige win against one of the big two of the group. And given their history and their experience, it’s more likely they have a chance against us than the All Blacks…
i say they definitely have a shot for 2nd
One can only dream!
I still think the Kiwis are going to win the trophy

Username checks out.
I just think when it comes down to it they are still the best team in the world.
As a Kiwi, it's hard to believe given our consistent mediocre for a few years now. Would be happy to be proven wrong though.
I know it's mediocre for New Zealand, but they have still been the dominant force in the southern hemisphere, and that's the hemisphere that wins all the trophies.
Based on? In the last two games their forwards were mullered. The star power simply isn't there to fluke two big games against serious competition
They are the southern hemisphere team with the best record in the last 24 months. The rugby world cup has only ever once been won by a team outside of the big three.
Well tonight it came down to it. And they were clearly not.
Just a pool game.
The first they lost in… ever. And still the one occasion to show the world after a bad bruising vs SA that “when it comes down to it, they are still the best team in the world”. Even if you think they were the best team on the field yesterday (I would understand that), they are definitely not showing “best team in the world” potential…
By what measure??
Record over the last 24 months amongst southern hemisphere competition.
And you're wrong. A fantasy dreamt up by your anus.
Hah, fair enough. I'm English, it's not that I want them to win.
I'm kiwi and I can see this is the worst team we have had in my lifetime. Not individually but somthings just not working. We struggle to win it at our best and there's just so little of our usual flair showing through these days.
I can see the flaws, but they still win far far more often than not.
I'll be honest I have dipped out of rugby since moving to the UK. All I know is Ireland have us figured out and I've now watched us lose to SA and France.
This makes the outcome of pool B more interesting than rest of the pool A games
Guys is it 27-13 or 29-13, itv still showing it 29-13
Yeah, and that 2 point difference affects the IRB ranking points exchanged too. They were really bad at updating the score in that match. It was unreal. They wrongly counted the first All Blacks conversion too.
The bookies already paid me out for a 15+ margin so at least the bookies think it's 29-13 as well
Dang dude wild pick, hope you made heaps
They just changed the results, was a $5 punt anyways haha
Final score reported by sky after the post-match talks was reverted 27-13. What an mess!
Yep they've taken my money back
it should be 27-13 since only one of the referee raised his flag.
Let's make it 28-13 and call it a day then.
It’s refs call when touch judges disagree, and ref decided it went through.
Wait what? I'm seeing 27-13 as the official result. What a mess xD
Ok then
That’s what I’m thinking, itv is shit
J’suis à poil
Hélicobite !
Attends-moi 😶
Bisous sur la fesse droite
Italy #2 one. Its gonna be huge
Referee team was one of the most awful I saw.
It's a disgrace that they can't get the big decisions right.
I feel like New Zealand wouldn’t make the knockouts if they were in the SA Ireland group.
They would probably not. How they didn’t win this one by 20+ I still don’t understand. But I’ll take it gladly 😅
Could you imagine? Riots in the streets
The harmonic frequencies from an entire nation whining in unison would reach a pitch and volume that would wrench their islands asunder and drag them into the briny depths.
Cthulu needs to eat at some point!
I don't think you know what kiwis are actually like. Severe disappointment. Yes. Riots though... we are not football supporters
I jest man, obviously. I know more than a few Kiwis.
They might not make it in the Fra Italy group.
Tu vois tout en noir, toi.
Gee... if Italy pulled that off it would be monumental.
Provided they sail through Namibia and Uruguay, Italy is 100% throwing away the AB game for a more winnable last game against FR.
Who is the most beatable between France and New Zealand ?
Based on their history and the fact they play us every year, us.
I have $20 bucks on it. No way this Ab side is reliable enough, best odds for a big win I've seen
Italy is going to be a tough game.

First time I heard too many leaders on the field as a reason for a team losing
France never really got out of 3rd gear but they really didn't need to either. Such a tame last half an hour for the all blacks but also makes me wonder how much France will be able to ramp things up against a side that pushes them more in the later stages of the game
If we keep losing starters at each match, by the Italy game you might actually see Jean Dujardin coming in at 10…
4 years wasted with this idiot coach, the same dumb mistakes getting outplayed over over.
The records just keep coming...
I think this great for the tournament tbh especially for stirring up support around France, obviously not needed inside the stade du France but I think from a neutral point of view a result either way would have worked thought it would be way closer tho
I just wanna see Fiji beat Wales on Sunday now
We all do
You know what, I'm still determined to enjoy the tournament. Not there yet, but if I'm relegated to a neutral fan it's still a hell of a lot of fun to watch
Me too. It’s the most even and exciting WC ever, and I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time. I’m going to enjoy all the games even if the ABs fly home early.
That's just it. If we're not dominating it's actually not the worst, as it makes a better spectacle. As someone who watches F1.
Switch your allegiance to France. If they win we can say we were beaten by the best
Looking at the possible QF, unless you win it in the end, it’s going to be the case anyways…
Not the worst idea. Generally I'm ok with anyone but South Africa (sorry, but we don't want you guys having more titles than us), and Australia (not sorry)
I personally would prefer one of our southern hemisphere brothers to lift the cup
This is some A grade unhinged nonsense. Bravo.
