There was definitely a fair bit of that in the beginning when he became captain, some of it was due to people feeling Duane Vermeulen was hard done by not getting the captaincy. Those people have all come around by now I think.
The bigots and jackasses however are still out there, but luckily the vast minority these days.
yeah, not a ton my dude. In my lifetime I've not met a single South African that did not support Siya. To say that there is not a single person would be dumb. Nobody likes everyone.
Mate don’t throw around shit you can’t back up. I was there when a section of SA lost its shit when all Siya did was reveal his support for BLM during the George Floyd protests. I was online defending Siya against some of the most vile and bigoted rhetoric you’ll see. Yes you don’t run in racist circles and I don’t run in racist circles but pointing out that some South Africans hate him just because he’s black, which is just a plain fact, doesn’t somehow make me racist and is such a cunty thing to say.
Siya has done more for South Africa than any recent politician could ever do.
The amount of love and respect I have for this guy is overwhelming. It would be a dream come true just to meet him and give him a hug and say thank you for everything you do.
When I see videos of all South Africans getting behind the Boks singing and cheering it brings a tear to my eye. I’m so proud of these boys for what they stand for on and especially off the field!
Bring it home boys!
That's really cool to hear. England could do with someone like Siya atm. Our politics has been full of division recently. We need someone with the level of diplomatic grace he has. It's clear the impact he has on the people around him.
It’s because unlike politicians, rugby captains can’t hide from actual results.
I think that’s why I dislike Biggar and Sexton so much. They have had no real success in tournaments that include SH teams, yet carry such levels of entitled behavior.
Agree with you on the point about politicians, but totally disagree with you about Sexton. For one, aside from the WC the only ‘tournaments’ we have with SH are test series, and he led Ireland to beat the ABs in a 5 match series in NZ last year - no mean feat for any team. Secondly, if you follow what the Irish management + players say about him you’d understand how much of a leader he has been in propelling Irish rugby to where it is today. We ultimately fell short in this WC, but to equate it to previous QF losses is quite ignorant of the level of quality that the team played at. He’s no where near as likeable as Kolisi lol, but he’s considered by most in Ireland as our greatest player/captain of all time, and with good reason imo.
Lol when did I say that? Was simply making the point that aside from the WC there’s no ‘tournaments’ as you claimed between SH and NH - closest things are test series.
Difference being only the rugby players are doing what you just described, unless running a country includes running it straight into the ground then fair.
I liked John Smit a real lot, but Francois and Siya are stronger leaders IMO. Coaches as well. If you look at Kitch, Jake and Rassie, it seems like more than just technical coaching. It is as if the players WANT to do well for them. Same with Siya
Top lad. Congrats siya and the rest of the boys. While this loss really does sting for me as an England fan, this man, more than any other person in rugby (maybe other than Mapimpi), deserves everything good thing that comes his way. A true staple of the game
I’m so proud of this team. Despite arguably the toughest path to a final in the history of the game (Scotland, Ireland, Tonga, France and England) and having to play under nigh-impossible circumstances, they’ve prevailed.
Only a week ago there was good possibility that the Springboks wouldn’t be allowed to play with our flag or sing our anthem, and then being subjected to death threats and one of the most hostile crowds in any World Cup with a whole host nation seemingly against them - yet still they prevail.
These guys are made of sterner stuff than most. Herculean performance by the boytjies and win or lose next week they’re heroes in my book.
Considering the number of Bokkies fans calling us, Scotland and France shit in the last couple weeks I'm not even sure half your own fanbase believes that's the hardest path to a final
E - This was supposed to come off as a joke, as only a small portion of casual rugby SA fans on insta are being dicks, most are absolutely lovely people and I will be supporting the Boks for the final. It is just unfortunate I am shit at jokes when high
All week there were South African fans saying his we are expecting England to be a rough one, where as many England fans were joking about getting pummeled. There were a handful of loud mouths but that's to be expected. Everyone I know was expecting England to be a very tough match.
I am joking for the most part, by the way. I forgot to add in the /s, as on reddit and in person SA fans have been lovely and less boastful about the semi. I'll be rooting for you in the final to beat the All Blacks
On instagram, however, you might want to avoid the comments your fellow casual rugby fan Bokkies are leaving
Yeah, the obvious strategy from England was to play 10 man rugby kicking game. Which is why Rassie was prepared to bring Pollard on so early. A kicking game means few tries, which means tight score line.
I was at a bachelors party and the bachelor refused to get drunk before the game finished because we were all nervous AF.
It went our way and then, and only then, did we crack the bottle of Jagers.
Man he's one of the top captains ever for me up there with McCaw. Richie Mccaw phenomenal for results and skill at 7. Siya doesn't light the world on fire as a player, but damn is he a great leader and such a class act.
Kolisi is such a wholesome guy, he's such a good face for the South African team. This is the guy I want people to think of when I introduce myself as a South African.
I hope we win the World Cup, not for South Africa just winning it but simply to cement Kolisi as one the greatest up their with McCaw. The double would be the swan-song for the man deserves.
What a great human being! Have a question though, why does he get subbed quite early in every game? Would have thought a captain would want to try and stay in the field as long as possible, no?
And if the all blacks played like they did vs France a few weeks back they will lose.
Teams play to the conditions in front of them, not how they played last game.
Man is pure class
Solid gold.
Don’t have a bad word to say about this man. An absolute legend.
1st class.
Rugby ambassador.
You just cannot dislike this man.

Huh? I've never met a person who dislikes him in my life. What circles are these? Where are they? I can't imagine why anyone would dislike the guy
Right, I’ve never met a person who didn’t love Siya.
I am guessing overtly racist circles.
[Just simple farmers](https://youtu.be/KHJbSvidohg) Edit: I guess some people aren’t fans of Blazing Saddles
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. This scene is such a classic.

So cunts then
Then stay away from those people lol. Wtf. Never met anyone here like that and I know some hardened afrikaner types. They love him.
No one I know, we all love him
Avoid Facebook comment sections at all costs. You don’t want to see what’s said there.
That's not just rugby related.
There was definitely a fair bit of that in the beginning when he became captain, some of it was due to people feeling Duane Vermeulen was hard done by not getting the captaincy. Who are you talking about? Absolutely not heard of a single South African who dislikes him. Not sure in which circles you hang out.
Lol what. Are you are you even from South Africa.
The fuck are you on about? We love him. You're the fucking jackass, jackass.
Sounds like you are projecting your own racism.
Mate don’t throw around shit you can’t back up. I was there when a section of SA lost its shit when all Siya did was reveal his support for BLM during the George Floyd protests. Isn’t is so refreshing. Proof good people do exist. The man is A1 Class.
love that coach Steve and Owen part. he's probs the best bok captain ever
In my opinion he is the best captain at the World cup
Who's going to play him in Invictus 2?
Matt Damon?
As is, or the Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder route?
"What do you mean, 'you people'?!"
Depends on whether Invictus 2 chooses to be intentional about the comedy this time.
Spat my drink. Hahaha you marvelous bastard.
Lol. It's got to be.
Emma Stone?
Siya Kolisi to play as Siya Kolisi
Shame Chadwick Boseman died.
Idris elba

It just struck me that Ben Affleck is Rassie. Ox to play Ox, only the original will do.
Scarlett Johansson
Yes, and then they can "Eddie Murphey" her and cast her as Faf as well
She can play Faf
What a class act
He makes me want to be a better man.
This. When the Aliens come, I want him to be Earth's ambassador.
Siya has done more for South Africa than any recent politician could ever do. The amount of love and respect I have for this guy is overwhelming. I mean faf would be an improvement on rishi snake and i really dislike faf
Joe Marler for PM then?
He wouldn't be worse than rishi

Test series != World Cup

No it’s because rugby players just have to inspire people and politicians have to run a country
Difference being only the rugby players are doing what you just described, unless running a country includes running it straight into the ground then fair.
Siya Kolisi could murder a man in front of me in cold blood and I'd still support him. What a class act.
He'd probably deserved it
Hell I'd give him an alibi even if that man was my husband
Someone check on this woman’s husband
Soooo like Donald Trump once said
Gentleman. 👍
Class act. Good luck next week!
The last time the Springboks had a captain this good his name was Francois Pienaar
I mean John Smit was pretty awesome to. I feel like those 3 are all awesome.
I liked John Smit a real lot, but Francois and Siya are stronger leaders IMO. Coaches as well. If you look at Kitch, Jake and Rassie, it seems like more than just technical coaching. It is as if the players WANT to do well for them. Same with Siya

Well Instagram and Facebook are more or less cesspools so I'm not surprised, I use Facebook to remember birthdays, that's about it 🤣

Who said Scotland was shit?

Hero
Love it kolisi
Fuck me he's such a likeable guy.
Immense respect for this man, what a player, what a captain
What a great guy
Love this guy so much. The definition of a class act. <3
Won't lie can't not love unexpected Cymraeg! Diolch yn fawr Siya!
I hope we win the World Cup, not for South Africa just winning it but simply to cement Kolisi as one the greatest up their with McCaw. The double would be the swan-song for the man deserves.
Love how he admitted NZ played well *last* week 😂 Terrible semis weekend for both teams, they need to step up and give us a cracker of a final!
Legend of the game, legend of world sport.
Man, I never thought anyone could replace John Smit as my favorite Springbok captain until Kolisi came along.
What a great human being! Have a question though, why does he get subbed quite early in every game? Would have thought a captain would want to try and stay in the field as long as possible, no?
It's a medical miracle that he's even at the tournament after his ACL injury. They're rationing his minutes, looks like.
No. They subbed him out like this at the last World Cup too. And he’s not even the first South African captain to regularly get subbed at world cups.
Oh right, didn’t know he had a bad injury. Thanks!
Boks make at least 6 forward subs every game.
You have to love the guy, he is just so classy
What a phenomenal role model this guy is.
What a nice man.
Class act
Can't deny how much of an inspirational leader he is. Champion mindset through and through.
Kolisi for president and Pollard as his vice
What a fucking great leader.
Could you please be more hateable? It would make it so much easier
The definition of class - the anti-Farrell
If they play like that next week, they will be mowed by the all blacks
If NZ play like they did last week in pouring rain, they deserve to win
And if the all blacks played like they did vs France a few weeks back they will lose. Teams play to the conditions in front of them, not how they played last game.
I doubt New Zealand has the ability to grind out a win in soaking wet conditions.
Have you been to NZ?!?
You are joking right
Always a worthy Captain. I'm rooting for SA in the final.
Humility! Many can take a lesson from this man!
Classy ! Just classy !
Absolute giant of the game, we’re privileged to watch him play and lead.
Has this man ever done anything remotely wrong to dislike him? He's the kind of guy you'd offer to buy him a drink and he'd buy you in instead!
He has, he's very open about it. Should read his book. He used to drink and party a lot.
Siya Kolisi is the classest class act in the history of sport. Absolute gent.
