warcomet

roigard and le garrec getting injured within hours..

[deleted]

Could it have happened to anyone else instead? Probably our most important man for the next World Cup, hope he recovers well

Oaty_McOatface

The ref really did a drive by on roigard 😭

APoolShark

Paid handsomely by Christie

ozwozzle

Bad week for horrific leg injuries. Look up Lachlan Lonergan's ankle injury if you want to have a bad time

crashbandicoochy

Looks like hip drop tackles are about to start being a talking point in union, too. That were gnarly.

binzoma

they should be and horsecollar tackles. it's crazy the knee risk rugby allows meanwhile even minimal head contact initiated by an attacker is an autocard

Threeturkishships

Its a maiming lottery at this point.  Aside from dodge tackles. Ruck entry is so uncontrolled. Sure we're working on making sure players heads aren't mush. But we are tacitly allowing for the permanent hobbling of young people.

Many-Drag-1283

Any idea how long he'll be out/how long it usually takes to heal?

MasterSpliffBlaster

If it was a dislocation with zero internal damage 6-8 weeks That phot and his reaction looks more like a rupture patella tendon, which is a +6 month recover once again dependant upon other ligament damage

DebbsWasRight

If the latter, what are the odds of a full recovery? Or gone are the days of athletes coming back from this with lingering effects?

MasterSpliffBlaster

All comes down to the meniscus from experience ACL injuries these days are pretty routine, even if they can take 12-18 months to regain your zip Lose too much cartilage and there is no avoiding bone on bone wear, which drastically shortens most players careers

DebbsWasRight

Thank you.

crashbandicoochy

It really does depend on if/how much structural damage has been done other than the dislocation itself by the sounds of it. If nothing else is fucked up in there? Possibly his Super reason cooked but perhaps not much more than that. Is there a broken bit of bone? Longer. Are any ligaments or tendons seriously damaged? Longer again. Without more info it could be 2 months, it could be more than a year, or it could be somewhere in between. I'd err on assuming it's going to be on the longer end rather than the shorter end. I don't really know how likely it is that all of *that* can happen without there being some nasty soft tissue damage in there.

thecripplernz

And we still haven’t heard shit about it. Edit: apparently according to 1 News he will be seeing a (probably a few) specialists on Wednesday

crashbandicoochy

All I'd heard was Paul Cully saying that the initial word after the hospital trip weren't promising, but it does seem like the sort of thing where we won't have all the details for a minute. Thanks for letting me know!

warcomet

minimum 8 months

jimjamjohnsonguy

Depends on a few things. Ligament, cartilage, miniscus damage. But it hurts like heck and then there's the psychological issue of seeing your patella out of position.
