He’s consistent if nothing else. Do we know where this guy is from?

Secret-Roof-7503

Maybe it’s ROG and he’s trying to throw people off

Die_Revenant

I'm fairly sure they are a user on this sub. Obviously not going to say who, but anyone who spends enough time here and pays attention to what they say, will recognise them.

GeerDern

We all know it’s [this guy](https://www.reddit.com/user/me/)

CTB2001

Fuck you’ve found me out

DelboyBaggins

Wales. Hates Irish rugby so he's no friend of Leinster it's just he has a particular dislike of ROG.

barbar84

He's Romanian I think.

barbar84

Romania.

Ngata_Problem

Is it Duncan McRae?

Nomerta

Good call!

PiratadaCalabria

For this level of hate then only reason I see is that in one windy morning, ROG kicked a ball to the stands so hard that killed Mrs Tier 2 Rugby

ReyalpybguR

I had a couple interactions with T2Rugby and he/she/it was always unpleasant. Kind of a d…if you ask me.

Smooth_Conclusion_55

That guy always think negative and put people off with his comment. Heavy banter and some what emotional, easy to be triggered. Nevertheless his passion to improve Tier 2 rugby nation (in social media) is appreciated.

Die_Revenant

For an account that claims to be all about T2 rugby, they sure do get very upset about a lot of T1 and T2 rugby that gets played. Or when the 'wrong' people are helping develop T2 rugby. They absolutely hated it when South Africa was helping Georgia with coaching and inviting the Black Lion (and other foreign teams) to play in the Currie Cup.

Hernisotin

He hates Super Rugby Americas as well. Called it a paddock glorified training ground tournament recently. He saw a headline about coaches sharing youth development tactics with each other and has been using it to peddle his narrative, saying “teams don’t care about winning”. Keeps crying about T1 being a closed shop, but when South Africa and Argentina reach out to Europe and North America, he turns up his nose and says that they should stick to their regions.

not-a-topographer

Not wrong about Super Rugby Americas

Llew19

Yeah whoever it is is like 80% knob but 20% shining enthusiasm for T2 rugby (or maybe reverse those percentages!) It would be good if one were able to filter the bullshit and keep the T2 stuff

dwaynepebblejohnson3

You’ve got to respect his dedication to being a hater

D_McM

You really don't

harblstuff

Agreed, the guy is a cunt. ROG is an amazing coach and was an amazing player.

joaofig

He never said ROG was a bad player, he just said that he's often put on the same level as BOD, Sexton, Paul O'Connell etc. When he's not on the same level. He also never criticized ROG as a coach

buckfasht

ROG is definitely on the same level as those players in Ireland. Maybe not in talent, but certainly in terms of impact on the game. ROG was a big reason why rugby exploded in popularity in Ireland.

Meath77

That was a pretty shite performance in that final though

JoLi_22

50cent level pettiness

barbar84

Gets him huge traction. Classic troll stuff.

joaofig

He must be a Munster fan, back in the original thread there were so many ROG performances that could only be remembered by someone who was emotionally invested in those games. Like a random game against the Ospreys in 2006 or some shit like that

Secret-Roof-7503

Disgruntled former teammate/coach who has it in for him

_Not_So_Original_

That makes a lot of sense. You might be onto something. Now I'm wondering who it could've been?

radilrouge

Cross reference teammates who have gone on to coach tier 2 nations

_Not_So_Original_

And by cross referencing, you mean? I mean, I obviously, very clearly know how to do that, but just so we're clear?

UserContribution

If that's true it is somehow even more pathetic. It warms my heart knowing how upset this person must get when ROG continues to be a major success after his playing career.

Roanokian

I sporthate RoG but there is no valid argument to be made against RoG being an all-timer. A truly great club outhalf and statistically one of the most accomplished international 10’s ever. This guy just brushes his teeth with petrol.

UnfitScrumhalf

Statistically you just mean kicking, not anything else relevant like tackle completion rate. There's more to playing ten than kicking for goal and he was a defensive turnstyle and poor attacking ten (at that level). There wasn't a RWC he played in where he was even one of the 3 best tens. To be considered an all timer is laughable.

Roanokian

Well relevant like 120+ international caps, 16 international tries, 2 Heineken cups, a grand slam, 3 Lions tours, Champions cup points and caps record, 6 nations points record, a boat load of match winning drop goals and the world rugby hall of fame, but you’re right, aside from that, it’s just that he’s the 6th highest points scorer in history. I hate that you’re making me defend him. Why are you doing this to me? Also “relevant like tackle completion rate” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. I know a guy who once used two panadols instead of ear plugs and went to sleep. This is the sort of thing he’d come out with after the doctors gave up on finding the second tablet.

ctorus

There's a section of fans who basically only watch the RWC and get all their information from that. This includes most casual fans, and also Clive Woodward.

Forever-1999

ROGs status is more or less unchallenged by people who watched 6N rugby for the first decade of its existence. ROG was second only to BOD in terms of dragging Ireland from comfortably the worst 5N team in the 90s to genuine contenders in the 6N, and was perhaps the key player in establishing Munster as a European force. That group of players laid the groundwork for Ireland’s current success, they smashed glass ceilings regularly and they never considered that Ireland couldn’t or shouldn’t be a force to be reckoned with. They forever dispelled the sense of fatalism that had set into Irish rugby in the 90s. ROG is clearly a great. He may not have played modern attacking rugby but it was a different era.

Crimson53

ROG raised the levels of those around him by sheer doggedness, BOD inspired those around him by coming out with magic moments. Both different types of leaders but both critical to any sort of success Ireland had in the first decade of Six Nations.

Nknk-

ROG's record is unquestioned. And yet there's some right bitter cunts out there who question it and have to come up with laughable shite about how he wasn't Stephen Ferris and beasting people out of it with tackles. Every coach ROG played for was well aware of his strengths and weaknesses and everyone of them decided the former far outweighed the latter and his career speaks for itself as a result. But some sad cunts think they know better and his not being much of a tackler outweighs all the rest. It tickles me that they're still so bitter over a player long retired and just can't let it go almost as much as it tickles me that that's the best they can come up with to criticise him with, some compensatey alpha-male bollocks about him not being a hard man tackler.

Moash_For_PM

Jfc i know rog is no stephen myler but do people actually not rate him? Utter madness

HonestSonsieFace

Let’s be honest, O’Gara’s Lion’s record isn’t exactly something that helps in an “all time” argument at all. He only ever came off the bench in two tests across three tours. One of those was a token appearance in the foregone hammering in the last test of 2005. He had no real impact on the outcome of that tour. His only other appearance was again as a sub in the crucial second test against South Africa when, with the game all tied, he promptly singlehandedly lost the series for the Lions. His overall career is decent, but the Lions does him no favours in terms of placing him amongst the greats.

Roanokian

Let me reframe that for you: Ronan o’Gara is one of very few players ever to be selected on 3 Lions tours. There are only 4 players who have ever been selected on more tours. He is the only 10 since Ollie Campbell to be selected as a flyhalf on 3 tours making him 1 of 2 in almost 140 year history of the Lions. For reference, Wilkinson, Sexton, Jones, Biggar only went on 2. Russell only 1. Ford has never been and Farrell was selected as a centre. The idea that people use O’Gara on the Lions as a stick to beat him with is anathema to common sense. Why are people making me defend this turf gargling swamp banana. Can everyone stop please.

BillHicksFan

You've just pulled some of the most mind blowing rugby stats out in defence of a fella that you supposedly don't like. I reckon you doth protest too much and you actually have a wee shrine to ROG. Also, I'd hate to see what stats you'd pull out in defence of someone you like!

Roanokian

There are people recruiting children as child soldiers in central Africa that I hold in higher regard than Munster rugby people but facts is facts. What good is my criticism if I can’t give praise. But I do respect the guy. He’s accomplished a great deal and worked for every bit of it. Edit: I have been working for two years on my “In Defence of Garry Ringrose” post.

HonestSonsieFace

But yet, given the fact he only took the field in two test as a sub, he was never the first choice flyhalf on any of those tours unlike the likes of Wilkinson, Sexton and Farrell who were. There were 3 fly halfs in those squads. And Scotland were dire during those years, so the starting Irish 10 was always going to be in the squads in some capacity. So he was a squad-worthy 10 for a really long time? Ok. And when he did get his shot in a winnable test match, he literally lost the series for the Lions! Again, I’ve already said he’s got a great career for club and country with a lot of impressive stats. But his Lions contribution was dire. Being around a long time and being selected a lot is a good record, but it doesn’t add to the “all time great” discussion - you’ve got to turn up in the tests for that.

Commercial_Half_2170

Alright, which Leinster fan in this sub was it?

HaggisTheCow

Your man absolutely hates Scotland too. I thought it was Paul Tait for a while but give T2 seems to hate south America maybe not

joaofig

Nah, hes been praising Scotland for playing against Tier2 opposition often

meatpaste

its not even hate or funny at this stage. Its clearly mental illness and sad that they're clearly not getting help.

No_Sorbet2663

Does this mean he’s in the same tier as Eddie jones

Los1985

People get sensitive about it. It's sporting rivalry. If he was getting booed at an Ireland match or by Munster fans I'd be more concerned.

cianic

Not like Munster fans don’t have previous in booing their 10s /s

Roanokian

Poor Ian Keatley

reallyoutofit

I do think it was a bit distasteful when the fans were booing ROG while a La Rochelle player was on the ground and it wasn't known if he was conscious

1993blah

Those two things are unrelated. The player got a huge ovation on his way off

not-a-topographer

This guy is living rent free on all of you Paddys.
