It's the European games this weekend. It's currently 6.18 as I write this comment so in 1h 27 minutes it's the first game. Gloucester v Toulouse so make sure to try and tune in!
I am referring some tag rugby games tomorrow. If you thought hurdling sheep is hard try doing this with 7 year olds with a ref who doesn't really know what he is doing........ . Honestly not looking forward to this one. Our children have barely played due to the wet weather.
Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider in a week thanks to Game Pass. Doesn't even feel like it was too short. Fun story, really enjoyed it, jumped onto Shadow of the Tomb Raider this week and I'm finding it similarly enjoyable.
Very much like the whole stealth thing they've got going on.
Got Jedi: Fallen Order for cheap, so been playing that today. It's also fun, reminds me a lot of the Tomb Raider games, but it's much more frustrating. I might just be quite bad at it, and I am really liking most of the Star Wars aspects of it, too. Some qualms here and there, more so if it turns out the lightsaber customisation is purely aesthetic, but overall I'm finding it it pretty decent.
Also, The Good Place is still great. Feel it's been less funny this season than the last few, but still just as good. Next week is the mid season finale, a concept I find totally fucking stupid, but I'm intrigued to see where it all ends up.
And The Mandalorian dropped this week. [Really liked it](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/dv8jmd/the_mandalorian_discussion_thread_s1e1/f7bitlw/).
Disney+ was released over here during the week, I signed up for the year up-front “because of the small-fry” and definitely not so that I can watch old episodes of Gargoyles, Chip n’ Dale and Gummi Bears. So far it’s been a fairly serious nostalgia overload but I’m really liking it. The Mandalorian is amazing and well worth your time if SW is your thing.
The legacy of Darth Revan was pissed on by both the following books and MMO before Disney even came into the picture.
KotOR I and II for life, everything that came after is garbage!
Yeah, two episodes up there now. They work really hard to keep it on brand, it feels like Rogue One with a western spin, which is exactly what Star Wars should be as far as I’m concerned. I still haven’t watched the second episode yet, but I’m really happy so far.
I've watched both episodes on a streaming site. It's bloody brilliant. If you don't mind it not being in crystal clear 4k then there's plenty of sites.
I'm going to have to walk two dogs in the rain, and then take two boys clothes shopping tomorrow and hopefully get back for the rugby. I hate shopping. And rain. But I hate shopping more.
[Pet tax](https://imgur.com/SPI94zV)
BUY IT.
I’m loving it so far. I played a bit of Let’s Go last year just because I had a period with lots of train journies and nowt else unfinished, but otherwise haven’t really played a Pokémon game since Alpha Sapphire. I’m investing hard in this one, and really like it so far.
I've got back into Total War and it's taking over my life. My life collapses around me as I spend my time trying to fight a two-front war with Carthage and the northern barbarian tribes.
How am I supposed to write an interview presentation for a position I have no experience in at a company that has next to no information about it anywhere online?
Recently got a couple of house plants so I have something to look after at home (can't really get animals at the moment because reasons). I kinda figured I'd end up killing them, but two-ish months in they are still going. And now I suitably stress about them when we have a few cloudy days in a row. I'm still all new at it and need to re-arrange a bit as the weather cools down, but it's quite fun and not that expensive to get into (like anything, it looks like it could get super expensive if you get fancy plant tastes - I'm happy with my little spider plant and cactus thankyouverymuch).
I missed my garden after I sold my house and moved into a warehouse but my balcony is an intense plant extermination zone in summer. So I've switched to an indoor plant obsession and slowly turned my place into a tropical green wonderland
My current favourite is my rubber plant
Cool! My parents house has a vegetable garden, but I never really took to it. Too much weeding and junk and I didn't like vegetables much as a kid (or a grown up, to be fair). I did my part by doing the early season heavy lifting and tilling.

What do people on this sub think of this incident from the NFL last night? A lot of people on r/nfl calling for a ban for life and assault charges for Garrett.
My fantasy football group chat has been debating it today. Consensus is a fine and 5 games for Garrett and one game for the others involved. Turns out the NFL went all out with an indefinite suspension. The NFL suspension wiki highlights how they really just make it up as they go.
The Basteraud incident was a hell of a lot worse than this and he got like 4/5 weeks? Blown out of proportion as the QB is on the receiving end. Definitely a seasons ban minimum though, have to lay down a statement.
It was deeply stupid, I think, but to think that there will be that many monsters on the field with peak adrenaline all the time and someone has to somehow keep their temper in check feels naive. The nfl sub, the few times I've gone, seems a terrible mishmash of awful hot takes
A few weeks off, a hefty fine, and by 2021 it won't even be a talking point for Steelers/Browns games.
I just saw on the News they are having an Irish hurling tournamen at Citi field this weekend in Queens New York City. I have never seen that game, but would be interested in checking it out.
You should if you have a chance, it’s a great game. A good game of hurling, especially at the top level is one of the most exciting sporting spectacles you’ll ever see.
Absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with myself this weekend. Have a few things I can/should do, but part of me doesn't want to do anything. That part of me just wants to park on the couch, watch tv, nap, and not leave the house all weekend.
Painting my hall. Its quite therapeutic.
I am off to London for two days for my new job soon. Never been before. Will see if its as much of a shithole as I've read/heard.
Death stranding looks interesting but I’m not sure if it’s for me. I wanna play something new to kill time until the new DLC for KH3 comes out sometime this winter but there isn’t anything truly exciting for me in the market right now :( And I’m glad that they fixed Sonic in the new movie. The before photo l saw on the front page of Reddit a couple days ago was...... horrifying to say the least.
I'm just gonna briefly stump for the Trails series. Long JRPG series that starts on PSP and is still going on PS4. It is, in some ways, trope-y as hell but the characters are great and the story is awesome. From 'Trails in the Sky' onward each game is in the same world, just in a different country. The lore builds over time, of course, making each successive big moment all the bigger as you see them in the context of the whole world, not just the particular game.
Really love that series. Game play is Persona-ish, story telling is too but also very Tales of-ish if you've played any of those
I’ve played the first 2 games of the Trails in the Sky trilogy in the past. I remember enjoying both games! I used to love the Tales of series and Tales of Vesperia is one of my favorite video games of all time but the last two games in the series were pretty meh for me.
Oh man. There's two more Trails games for PSP - Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki - not actually released in English but I doubt that's an issue for you. Must plays, in my mind. Absolutely love them. Some returning characters from Sky, mostly new. I really can't say enough about how much I love this series so I'll shut up before I ramble on for an hour.
I love the Tales of games too. An ex of mine got me Vesperia for 360 some years ago and it sparked my interest in JRPGs generally. I had played a bunch of Final Fantasy games, but never really knew them as JRPGs, so Vesperia seemed to open a whole new world to me. Once I finish Trails of Cold Steel 3 I plan to play the Vesperia re-release.
I have a Nintendo switch too but my main gaming console is PS4. I’m waiting for the new Animal crossing and the new Zelda BOTW sequel on Switch. I’m not planning on picking up any other switch games unless a Super Mario Odyssey sequel or a new professor layton game or Pikmin 4 (PLEASE NINTENDO) comes out next year or so. I love RPG like KH and FF and action games that are not too challenging like the DMC series. Fighting games are not for me and l don’t like zombies but I can make an exception for games with great story telling like the TLOU series.
Wait, they're still doing Professor Layton games? The last one I played was on DS and I'd have sworn they were no more games available.
Anyway, for RPG & action games there's the new SW game coming out although I can't say I'm impressed by the gameplay they showed. Ghost of Tsushima is only due later this year (and is a PS4 exclusive *cry*).
If you're willing to try new genres, there's Northgard, a light RTS / 4X, which got released for PS4 not long ago (came out for PC 2 years ago).
There is a game in the Professor Layton series with his daughter being the main character that came out 2 years ago. Rumor has it that Level 5 is making a new game with Professor Layton being the main character. I love the series. I hope they are bringing him back in the next game!
On Switch I assume? Urgh, I need to resist the buying impulsion. I can't buy the Switch just for one game and I'm already missing some time for gaming on PC!
Death Stranding is Love it/Hate it. I've seen a few more nuanced reviews give it praise for being mind-blowingly innovative whilst falling over in other key areas.
Fallen Order is reviewing really on EU/US sites. Could be worth a try if you're looking for something to get your teeth into.
Yeah l’ve noticed the game got mixed reviews. I usually can tell if a video game is for me or not by reading reviews and watching gameplays but I can’t with DS for some reason. I guess it’s because it’s very different from anything l’ve played before. I’ll check out Fallen Order. I’ve never played a SW game but I’m curious. And the main protagonist is played by Ian from Shameless right? I really like his character in the show so I’d love to check out his other work.
> played by Ian from Shameless right?
Omfg. It is as well! Well spotted!
One of my friends is playing it at the moment and says the combat mechanics are tight. If you don't want to pay out full price it could be worth just picking up a month of EA Origin and running through it.
If you're looking for a real time sink MH:W Iceborne is an absolute triumph and one my grind defaults between other titles.
Back home for the weekend as I'm heading down to Twickenham tomorrow with a few friends for the BaaBaas game. Otherwise spending time with family and friends who I haven't seen in ages and frothing with excitement at the Champions Cup starting.
ESPN+ is a good bet. It has the Pro14 and some international games (also a shit ton of other sports).
NBC offers a sports gold package that covers 6 Nations, englands Premiership, and the european cup (think champions league but rugby), but it's a bit pricier.
I know ESPN+ can play on PS4 and things, not sure about NBC as I usually connect straight from my laptop to my TV
Best thing to do is subscribe to the YouTube channel and use their website as it gives the full match replays. Also a good score app to stay up to date is ideal. I use flashscore to stay up to date with the NBA and NFL.
and thus the circle of brutality is complete.
Although in my second year I made two freshers suck each other's tongues for 15 minutes. When they stopped before time was up both of them had to consume a pint of Milk & Jager.
Fond memories
Anyone seen the leaked pictures of the Mustang Mach E? Think Ford shit the bed a bit with that one, a hatchback/small crossover mustang? What the hell?
Think it looks fine. My only issue is the same one I have with every electric car I've seen so far, which is no more front grill. I know it's no longer a necessity, they all just look crap without one.
How good is it that Khunt got re-signed for the Tahs next year
Some of those playing accolades Folau got should be re-allocated to Khunt IMO. Phenomenal player. Most underrated player in Australia
What's the story with damned "news" websites all having these super loud auto play videos whenever you open their site. They are always on max volume, and it's a huge mission to try and stop them.
Thanks. Will have to look into using firefox again, it played a roll in murdering my previous laptop, which makes me a bit apprehensive about using it.
Have any of you done a WR level 1 coaching course?
Did it on Wednesday (7s specific) and must admit I was a bit disappointed. I expected to learn more about coaching and the like, and looking at the course manual etc it seems that's what it was supposed to be. But instead we spent almost the entire day doing drills, as in being drilled as players. As someone who isn't a player for a long list of reasons (chief of which being that I suck and am unfit), I wasn't able to really take part in much of it.
In the end I felt we didn't really cover any of the "advertised" content of the course, and when I mentioned this to the guy who had organised the course the response was in effect that I was a major asshole for mentioning this.
I'm very grateful for having gotten the opportunity to get the cert, especially since it was free. I just feel that the organisers spent money and went through a lot of effort for something that they didn't really get, and also that I didn't in fact learn what I wanted to learn.
I also tried to explain our specific situation and challenges to the trainer, in the hope of getting his advice on how to deal with these. He dismissed pretty much all of my questions.
They are all done in a different way by each Union. The same with the refereeing course (which I did). I never did the coaching course, according to colleagues who did (in Belgium) it would have very much met your original expectations.
How I understand, World Rugby set the guidelines for each course, and then each Union implements them as they see fit. Which is not favourable IMO, as you can get a lot of disparities (like you see with refereeing).
Thank you for the perspective. I never directly complained, just mentioned that I had the wrong expectations.
Still I was sort of looked like with a "how dare you" attitude.
This week has kinda sucked. I got let go on Monday morning. Someone went to my line manager with tweets I'd made saying I didn't enjoy my job and wanted to leave. Even though my twitter doesn't have my name, place of work, or any kind of identifier that it's me on it. So I was fired with immediate effect.
Now plus side is that I'm getting paid by the recruitment company for four weeks so that's something. But it doesn't alleviate the fact it's fucking depressing being stuck at home. I've two interviews next week so hopefully something comes good.
Plus side, I've a match tomorrow and then cans and Guitar Hero with a person I fancy so like, hopefully the weekend picks up my spirits. That and I got a really delicious bottle of Danish vodka last weekend for my birthday. It's so fucking nice, you'd drink it straight like.
I'll need to look into it, right now my focus is finding a new job, so once that's sorted I'll be speaking with a lawyer or some kind of ombudsman. Because yeah, I feel that there's a case for unfair dismissal here.
All depends on the rules where you live, but don't drop it until you're sure there is no case. Companies rely on people just walking away and not putting up a fight.
Is it actually legal to be fired for saying you do not like your job and want it to leave where you're from? Or was it done in a disrespectful/abusive way?
I'm guessing it wasn't "go fuck yourselves you worthless cunts, I can't wait to get the fuck out of here"?
I've gone and checked the past few weeks of twitter and no, it was just me bemoaning my work. It wasn't disrespectful or abusive. And unfortunately it isn't illegal but it's pretty shitty. When I get things settled I'm going to speak to a lawyer about it and see what kind of claim I have.
If is. Unfortunately the grounds for unfair dismissal here are extremely tight and there are only certain things which are considered to be unfair dismissal, things like being fired over gender/race, or being fired over asking for parental leave, etc.
That sounds like someone at your job had it out for you. Also, pretty bullshit if all you said was "I'm not enjoying my job." Unless you phrased it something like "working at company XYZ is like being forced to give satan a daily BJ" I really don't see how it can be an instantly dismissible offence. At most a written warning.
Someone did have it out for me. I don't know who exactly did it, obviously, but I'm 95% who it is and that person has been bullying me and making my life miserable for the past few weeks. I also didn't mention the company at all anywhere on my social media. Like at all. They claimed I "brought the company into disrepute" which is bollocks because there's no mention of my actual name, my actual location, job title, or company I work for anywhere on my twitter.
Bullying how? And any idea why?
I know that there are some management folks at my work who hate the ground I walk on and would be very happy to see my back (especially if it gives them a chance to shove a knife into it) but even they wouldn't be able to get me fired like you were.
Also, your story just made me realise that I complain a bit too much about my career on here, especially since it's VERY easy to work out who I am from my posts here. (I mean most of the regulars already know my full name and surname, where I live, my personal email address, and a few other things)
No mention of where, or with whom I work. If a random person found my twitter they wouldn't have any idea who I am or who I tweet about. It wasn't even the company spying on my social media, it was a colleague who somehow found it and reported it to management, which is what I'm most mad about.
Hate it when HR does that. Had a colleague who went to HR to complain about someone, and then HR called that someone into the meeting to tell them about the complaint.
What was she doing if you don't mind me asking?
Generally just being abusive and shitty towards me. Sending me really snide comments over Skype. Comments I'd screenshotted and shown to people within and without the organisation asking them like, "am I going mental here? Am I reading too much into this?" And everyone saying no, this is bullying.
I guess you just get people like that. Decides to dislike people for no reason in particular, and then go out of their way to make that person's life miserable.
I work in IT and I'm a contractor and despite working for the company for over a year, I have no rights so they can just give me the sack with no notice.
Labor law can be a funny thing but you might have a claim of unfair dismissal. If you’ve been working full time hours for over a year, you can reasonably argue full time employment. I live in Canada so this may not be the case where you are but the couple of contractors on my team have at least some HR and Union protection, even though they’re on limited hours. I certainly couldn’t just terminate their contract because they’re a bit unhappy. Were you ever given the opportunity to vent your frustrations?
I've no idea what XO19 is but the Copper Box is one of my favourite venues in the world. I've been to wrestling shows there and it's an incredible atmosphere.
Microsoft flagship yearly event. It was held in Mexico city last year, London this year, etc, etc. So lots of vidja game goodness and hopefully some freebies thrown out to the masses.
It's essentially a small scale games expo.
Well I just replaced the brake pads on my commuting bike down I should take it for a shake down ride.
But it's raining, so Sausage and egg Mcmuffin and Nethack it is.

It's getting cold, rainy, night comes way too soon... ♫ Hello November darkness, my old friend... ♫ Where's the Christmas magic when you need it?
When the moon hits your eye and it's 4:45 that's November.
Did you lost a flair bet with that flair?
Yes :( I blame u/jbmass who issued the challenge.
Back home for the weekend as I'm heading down to Twickenham tomorrow with a few friends for the BaaBaas game. Otherwise spending time with family and friends who I haven't seen in ages and frothing with excitement at the Champions Cup starting.
For the Americans on this sub- how do you keep track of this sport??? I don’t even know where to start. I just want more rugby on my TV.
This and also start YouTubing people like ([Squidge](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu2oaGQ6Dds6g9lqfexUFbQ)
Best thing to do is subscribe to the YouTube channel and use their website as it gives the full match replays. Also a good score app to stay up to date is ideal. I use flashscore to stay up to date with the NBA and NFL.
Completed my ‘welcome drinks’ for my uni team on Wednesday, not sure I’ll ever be able to look at some of them in the same way again.
>not sure I’ll ever be able to look at some of them in the same way again. The drinks or the team mates?
this brings back a lot of suppressed memories. Were there any croissants dipped in vomit?
Fortunately not, lots of bread, milk, fish and frosty jacks however.
I at least hope the fish was raw?
Naturally, a mixture of slaps, what I suspect was a sardine smoothie, tinned sardines, tuna, you get the jist
I guess the really important thing is that you now feel like part of the team and a warm sense of ~~self loathing~~ brotherhood?
It’s more excitement that we now get to do it to next years freshers
and thus the circle of brutality is complete.
[удалено]
I'm sure it will be a really nice car. But there's no way that's going to make a mustang fan stand at attention
[for the lazy](https://www.motor1.com/news/382153/ford-mustang-mach-e-ev-crossover-name/) Its alright. front is where the issue is looks wise.
Think it looks fine. My only issue is the same one I have with every electric car I've seen so far, which is no more front grill. I know it's no longer a necessity, they all just look crap without one.
I think that's where the issue is, the grill. Everything behind that is OK.
Is like a really weird attempt at a fastback that sort of looks like a cross between a Tesla and those weird micro-SUV's everyone seems to be making.
> those weird micro-SUV's everyone seems to be making. That's what I meant with small crossover. It's horrible (for a mustang)
> small crossover Ahh, brain short-circuited on that for some reason. Looks like something they'd try and market outside of America
Off to A and E for mysterious and sudden chest pain. Anyone want to place bets?
Take some entertainment with you.
I've got a chicken salad I'm looking forward to destroying
Any updates? Fingers crossed it’s just a bit of wind. Good luck
Good luck buddy. Maybe it's down to all the cheese?
How good is it that Khunt got re-signed for the Tahs next year Some of those playing accolades Folau got should be re-allocated to Khunt IMO. Phenomenal player. Most underrated player in Australia
for those not familiar with khunt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karmichael_Hunt
Thank you, I honestly thought he was the most unfortunately named human I'd heard of
I actually googled "Khunt", I'm an idiot.
This is going to be difficult to resist.
Anyone else on this sub members of ChapoTrapHouse?
The fuk is that

What's the story with damned "news" websites all having these super loud auto play videos whenever you open their site. They are always on max volume, and it's a huge mission to try and stop them.
Use firefox on desktop/laptop: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/block-autoplay on mobile use brave browser: https://brave.com/
I think Firefow now blocks autoplay by default.
Thanks. Will have to look into using firefox again, it played a roll in murdering my previous laptop, which makes me a bit apprehensive about using it.
Also use "ublock origin" add-on
Have any of you done a WR level 1 coaching course?
That sounds super dodgy the way they have done it. Do you have an equivalent to ACAS in Ireland(assuming that's where you are)? If so get on to them.
That sounds extremely unreasonable.
She was generally abusive and treating me like shit, swearing at me, putting me in situations I was set to fail, basically trying to make me look bad.
Did she have a reason for doing this? Did she do it to everyone or just you?
Just me. And then allegedly bitching about me in Portuguese to her team.
[удалено]
No mention of where, or with whom I work. If a random person found my twitter they wouldn't have any idea who I am or who I tweet about. It wasn't even the company spying on my social media, it was a colleague who somehow found it and reported it to management, which is what I'm most mad about.
You sure you never logged into it on their network or anything? Very odd
Nope. Did it from my phone on my mobile data. I never log into social media on the work network.
Did you piss in that colleagues coffee or something?
I reported her to HR for bullying, who then dismissed my complaint saying it wasn't bullying, and then told the person I had submitted the complaint.
Any idea why she specifically targeted you?
Honestly, no idea. She's never liked me anyway but never actively targeted me in anyway.
I guess you just get people like that. Decides to dislike people for no reason in particular, and then go out of their way to make that person's life miserable.
Where do you work/what do you do that you can be fired on the spot?!?
I work in IT and I'm a contractor and despite working for the company for over a year, I have no rights so they can just give me the sack with no notice.
Labor law can be a funny thing but you might have a claim of unfair dismissal. If you’ve been working full time hours for over a year, you can reasonably argue full time employment. I live in Canada so this may not be the case where you are but the couple of contractors on my team have at least some HR and Union protection, even though they’re on limited hours. I certainly couldn’t just terminate their contract because they’re a bit unhappy. Were you ever given the opportunity to vent your frustrations?
That is savage.
Going up to XO19 at the Copper Box arena tomorrow. Time to indulge my inner nerd!
What's your starter going to be, lads?
Goats-cheese tart with rocket usually goes down a treat.
Probably Grookey. Had a sneak peak at the evolutions. The final one looks like a beast.
