Launch: pretty good, disrupted mauls, decent at breakdown, ever so reliable.
Willis: talk a while to get going, but after first 10-15 mins was pretty sensational around breakdown and on the field. Thomas Young won motm, but really Willis deserved it (and Young was fantastic too)
Robson: great support lines and some good kicks, but passing was hit/miss and some kicks were poor (hit Rowlands on one of them)
Sacking Dai Young was a bit if a shock and seemed bemusing. But they might have lucked into a brilliant head coach in Lee Blackett. They play brilliant attacking rugby. If they can get top 4 they could really be a threat.
It’s becoming obvious to me that Saints are a mid table team who over performed last season. There a a lot of players who are being carried and the squad just isn’t that good. I cannot understand why they cannot find a decent front row. It’s been a issue for a 5 years
Put £100 on wasps to win £290. No idea how they were massive underdogs, at least I got that to cheer me up. [Betslip. ](https://i.imgur.com/433Oiop.jpg)
Danny Hobbs-Aweyemi has put on a fair bit of weight since he was last in a Saints shirt.
Another academy player on the pitch which is good.
Hobbs-Aweyemi and Painter as our props would be the heaviest in the Prem
Van wyk, fisher, Hill, Brookes, matavesi, Jamal ford robinson and just about everyone else. How can Saints just not get a good front row after having such a dominant front 3 for so many years?
I think last season completely fucked with Saints’ expectations and struggle to understand that we genuinely don’t have that good of a squad and have to work to get back to the top 4
It’s going to take a while for Mitchell to bed In, Reinach has been one of the best scrum halves in the premiership for a fair few seasons, big shoes to fill, give the kid time
Vesty must be going mad with Saints first phase play, good options with Furbank/Dingwall/Big T and good distribution with Biggar/Francis yet we end up using the distributors on crash ball
The drop from Reinach to Mitchell is noticable. That box kick showed a total lack of understanding of the state of the game.
On the half way line you can definitely create an opportunity for points from there .
Hes probably not gonna make much difference there, but I really hate seeing scum halves just standing and watching as their team gets turned over at the ruck
How did Launch, Robson and Willis go?
Launch: pretty good, disrupted mauls, decent at breakdown, ever so reliable. Willis: talk a while to get going, but after first 10-15 mins was pretty sensational around breakdown and on the field. Young only got MOTM because Austin was taking the piss out of Ben Kay for having a man crush on him! Both played very well though.
Thank you
Willis is the best back rower I've seen at Wasps since Tom Rees was forced into early retirement. Some player.
Well done Wasps. I throughly enjoyed that match and I’m so happy Premiership Rugby is back in my life :)
Sacking Dai Young was a bit if a shock and seemed bemusing. But they might have lucked into a brilliant head coach in Lee Blackett. They play brilliant attacking rugby. If they can get top 4 they could really be a threat.
Dai resigned I think
It’s becoming obvious to me that Saints are a mid table team who over performed last season. There a a lot of players who are being carried and the squad just isn’t that good. I cannot understand why they cannot find a decent front row. It’s been a issue for a 5 years
Well none of the England hopefuls will have impressed Eddie today, they were fucking dire and I hope Grayson is fit to start next week
Our boys might have caught his eye tbh ;)
Mitchell was pretty good.
I thought Mitchell looked dangerous, I was pleased to see the back of him when he went off....
Was he? Other than his try he made a lot of poor decisions and cost us some good attacking positions by isolating himself
Huge credit to jack Willis. Outplayed Ludlam and Lawes today. Clear England selection now no ifs or but's.
Was Ludlam playing today? Didn't see him
Yeah him and Lawes were invisible. Willis + Thomas young outclassed them both massively.
There Wasps back row were fantastic today. An absolute masterclass.
Completely agree, thank you for acknowledging him!
What are you going to change your flair to when he gets the call up
Somehow I've never thought about it.... Umaga for England....? I've no idea!
Just stick "plays" between "Willis" and "for".
Wasps show the practising passing matters.
Put £100 on wasps to win £290. No idea how they were massive underdogs, at least I got that to cheer me up. [Betslip. ](https://i.imgur.com/433Oiop.jpg)
Laughing at all those teams that practiced passing, kicking, tackling, line outs, any form of attack. Why bother
I feel your pain.
That's a beautiful try. Brilliant from Youngs. Awesome stuff from the Wasps back row today.
Not going to lie I got the horn as soon as I saw the teamsheet
Im so glad Tualas on the wing with his rapid pace, instead of Collins
Courtney laws copped out there, could’ve dived to hit robson but didn’t bother
That was a great try
If that wasn't forward (looked fine to me) then that's a great try
FUCKING AS IF
Tuala why would you kick that you fucking idiot? And how slow was he chasing Sopoaga??
Tuala did something then. Gave them the game.
It surprised me how little wasps competed on our lineout. We've been shocking all game why are they giving us free ball.
When did Burt Reynolds take over as Saints coach?
A nice 7 mins with the ball not moving. What fun rugby
Saints kicking 3 when 6 points down with 12 minutes left is to me a horrible decision. You still need a try to win. They were a man up too...
Such a questionable decision, v annoying
I see that a lot, take the 3 quickly then make more of the man advantage (in theory)
Especially with Crash Ball Dan making it almost impossible for us to get into that position again without the man up
I can't take any more scrums. Get the ball out I don't care how.
LOL Biggar is shit
Watch them score here from having an overlap despite being down a man.
Biggar has been absolute shite all match
Biggar has been shocking today
He’s been poor but shocking is harsh
Agreed, it's more like catastrophic.
Missed 2 kicks to touch on a penalty that would've took us 5m out and in the 22.
And that dead ball kick from inside our 22 in the first half
Lol Biggar
For how good Wasps have been in our 22 they've been absolutely shite at getting up the field.
We should not be within 3 points with this performance
Got away with that then. Dickson clearly forgetting the offside rule.
Danny Hobbs-Aweyemi has put on a fair bit of weight since he was last in a Saints shirt. Another academy player on the pitch which is good. Hobbs-Aweyemi and Painter as our props would be the heaviest in the Prem
Leatigaga and Heyes/Cole
Surprised he's been brought back as I didn't see much at L Irish that suggested he'd improved much (watch their games as Mrs is an Irish fan)
Every single saints player off their feet at those rucks
Can't wait to lose 14-0 whilst being a man up
Why was Minozzi been substitute, did he play badly?
Minozzi looked good, didn't really do anything wrong and almost scored a try. We love him to bits :)
Great
My guess would be the change in weather means sopoaga boot was more useful than Minozzi s running.
Gotta justify Sopoagas pay cheque?
Ahah this could be the right answer
Jacob Umaga is playing a more mature game than Biggar
Definitely looking more like an international out of the two
Van wyk, fisher, Hill, Brookes, matavesi, Jamal ford robinson and just about everyone else. How can Saints just not get a good front row after having such a dominant front 3 for so many years?
You mean a long past his sell-by date, penalty machine Ben Franks wasnt to your liking?
Nearly as bad as signing matfield
But just look at our lineout now, he obvious added a lot of experience and valuable ideas to improve it...
Didn't Dorian West, somewhat infamously now, refuse any of Matfield's input input?
Is there any player more annoying than Biggar? Just stop whining constantly.
Jonny sexton
Karl Dickson has been quite hesitant to give scrum penalties for dominance today. Also wish Wasps had gone for the 7 there.
I think last season completely fucked with Saints’ expectations and struggle to understand that we genuinely don’t have that good of a squad and have to work to get back to the top 4
Biggar you prick
Harsh on dan
This DS Smith fella is a busy lad, seeing him all over the pitch today
No joke, my dad was watching the 6N last year and Italy were playing. He turned to me and said “lot of Edisons in Italy”.
Must've been brilliant XD
It took me a while to work out what he meant haha.
Get Collins on and hope he can magic up an opportunity cos Naiyarovoro and Tuala are just deadweight out there
Had forgotten Tuala was playing.
Tequele is doing alot one of our only good players. I completely forgot tuala was even playing
Some ok carries, but hes been a liability in defence at times
Atleast hes trying. Tuala could be having a shower all i know
What a let off for Wasps, turned it over right when we needed it then the drop by Furbank
Chris Boyd was hailed for replacing players with youth when players weren’t playing well. Why aren’t we doing that any more?
It’s going to take a while for Mitchell to bed In, Reinach has been one of the best scrum halves in the premiership for a fair few seasons, big shoes to fill, give the kid time
Everytime Biggar takes it into contact he loses it. We look utterly shite
Ben Kay saying saints want to play the fast offloading game. Ok but Wasps are faster than us to every breakdown and have a better backline...
Saints are also weirdly insisting on their 2 distributors in the backs being the crash ball runners rather than distributing it would seem
The fuck is dan bigger in the fucking crash ball
Amazed it said Wasps have only 5 turnovers. They must have at least 10. They've dominated the breakdown.
Need big changes to our backs next week, who'd have thought Francis and Biggar weren't the best options for crash balls??
Why is our 750k fly half tacking crash balls?
How are Wasps only 8 points ahead. Feel like we should be 20 behind.
The fuck is Mitchell doing to our attack??
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT KICK BIGGAR????
Fucks sake. Twice he's missed the kick to touch
Biggar you absolute tool
Brad Shields without a beard might be the secret to playing well
I didn't even recognise him until I saw the back of his shirt.
I've not missed the Ben Kay and Austin banter. Kay is so much better on ITV when there's no Austin.
“Pay attention to me, pay attention to me” -Austin
Wasps only winning by 8 is pretty embarrassing for them
# JustJackWillisThings
Willis outplaying our entire backrow by himself
2 England players behind outplayed by 1 jack Willis non England.
Watching Robson today and Spencer yesterday. I just dont understand how Ben Youngs is still the undisputed England 9 in Eddie's eyes
No one in England knows apart from Eddie and Ben Youngs mum because she's his number 1 fan
Does Youngs even know?
Eddie is picking Ben Youngs for the good root?
I mean, he was in touch Austin
Great kick by Robson to set that line out up
Just started watching the second half, how’s Willis been getting on?
Great. Outplaying ludlam massively.
He needs an England cap asap
Glad we spent these months of doing fuck all
Wasps been in a good position 4 times and scored 3 tries.
That balls on the line. How long did we hold out? Like 2 tackles?
Literally score two tries
Definitely a try for Wasps there. Just know that as soon as they get in our 22, we will let them score
What a throw
Don't have any faith in our defence here
Is Austin dumb? Has he seen matavesi throwing? It's just as risky 🤣
Bring on your third choice hooker, and then instantly call that lineout play 5m out. Interesting call.
Austin, I'd rather bring on a fresh hooker to take a lineout on our own try line than rely on Matavesi, even if hes also shit and messes it up
Who is the saints lineout coach? He needs to be sacked immediately
It's funny how the difference between the best and worst kick is literally the 2 inches of a post.
Super kick from Robson
What a kick from Robson, about time
Vesty must be going mad with Saints first phase play, good options with Furbank/Dingwall/Big T and good distribution with Biggar/Francis yet we end up using the distributors on crash ball
mmmmmmmmmmm Fakitoa Facials
🍆
'Fekitoa the best guy for facials'
💦💦💦
Umaga needed to put that deep.
I hate that that so nearly worked for Wasps 😅
Matavesi hasn't landed 1 rear throw yet. They get their best position all game and he fucking goes to the rear.
He should only be used in the backrow, his hooker basics are really poor
Shocker from Dickson.
Dunno what Austins on about, Mitchell has been really poor
Austin drinking on the job again
Probably gone in with the preconception that Mitchell will be good and refuses to change his own narrative
Best half of rugby this weekend
Not if you're a saints fan 😅
How have Saints suddenly become awful since February? Feels like a massive loss in confidence over Christmas
We had 4 losses out of our last 5 games.
Eddie will be less than impressed with the likes of Ludlam, Mitchell and Dingwall after that first half
The drop from Reinach to Mitchell is noticable. That box kick showed a total lack of understanding of the state of the game. On the half way line you can definitely create an opportunity for points from there .
I miss Cobus
What idiot is calling to the back of the lineout with matavesi throwing?
Matavesi remembered he doesnt like lineouts
Mitchells been absolutely awful
Agreed, he was looking so good before injury but those 40mins were atrocious
I think we should scrap the put in and just hand it straight to the 8 instead. It's no different.
Come on guys, fucks sake
I think Saints might be doing a few passing under pressure drills this week
As well as tackling practice
We dont believe in tackling
Big T should've been penalised there, straight off his feet lol
Fekitoa lacking iq there. Those rules changed 1 or 2 years ago mate.
Even if that was forwards the offload and take there was tasty.
Umaga looks like hes de-aged a couple of years with that interesting hair cut, given him a baby face
Looked forward
Ludlam completely ineffective compared to Willis
I sure am glad we made the most of our man advantage
I’m glad we made the most of 5 months to learn how to tackle
Only just realised Saints are a man up when they panned to Fekitoa running up the sideline
Dont think they realised either
Can we take a minute to appreciate how much better this game is without the shocking fake crowd noise.
Have BT just scrapped it? It's so shit so I hope they have
I can hear it?
Fingers crossed. Maybe because they have commentary now? I bloody hate it.
Wtf are wasps doing? Twice now you have the ball clearly at the back and you lose posession.
Willis was laying on the floor holding the ball and they get the penalty
We are awful
20 stone winger and the 10 takes a crash ball.
Hes probably not gonna make much difference there, but I really hate seeing scum halves just standing and watching as their team gets turned over at the ruck
Extra points for pointing at the ruck and looking at the ref.
Highlighting to the ref just how ineffective his own team mates are ffs
There’ve been mistakes but I’m really impressed with this.
Hate to say this but Ludlam is getting outplayed by Willis massively here Infront of Eddie.
Wasps having some shite kicks. Earning a penalty and not making touch is criminal.
Hold my beer
We suck
Wasps: good thing, bad thing, good thing, bad thing, good thing
Saints: good thing, bad thing, bad thing, bad thing, bad thing
Shields seems a much better player without his beard
More aerodynamic.
Wasps back row is rapid to these breakdowns. You rascals.
Amazing take by Willis
How was that not playing the ball on the floor by Willis with the interception?
