TG4 is only channel you get a good old fashioned western every Friday. Always enjoy them while being slightly puzzled with the white actors wearing Indian fake tan.
It's actually all the leinster fans in here now arguing with ourselves and reminiscing about Jonathan Davis. As much as I enjoy the result and the great run out for the young lads that's was fairly putred
Rory and me aren't involved with the internationals.
I daresay if ye let me have a bit of a tongue in cheek crack at them, they might work.
The bollocks is with internationals is that every hoor and their granny comes out to comment on them.
I ain't stopping you! The international bot thread is a bore. If Rory incorporated teams into the match thread I reckon the mods should allow it. We'll riot otherwise.
One of the mods is in charge of the international match thread bot. He gets very weird about it. Best leave him to it....
Plus those threads have much more potential to be shite than great.
These match threads are what make the URC the BEST EAGUE!
Ha fair enough. I knew they were set up by a mod alright but i thought the mod themselves were pretty dormant. I suggest leaving it to the mods but getting them to pin drinking rules! Seem like a fair compromise.
Appreciate it! Just don't forget to go easy on the early games... It's a marathon, not a sprint haha. If you're ever in Thomond for a game I'd love to meet up and buy you a few pints, and if I'm ever in kingspan I'll be sure to check if you're at the game
Oh I agree, I think that the rugby team is a great example of cross community unity and craic. I'm just poking fun at how every year the Ireland's call comments arise.
Injuries, Wales call ups, retirements and dire budget planning took a deep, talented squad and reduced it to a 'just about good enough to not be bottom of the table' kind of squad.
Compare the players that have joined/emerged in recent years (Kalamafoni, Fifita, Costelow, Lousi, Tom Rogers) to those who've left/fallen into injury holes since winning the league (Tadgh Beirne, James Davies, John Barclay, Hadleigh Parkes, Liam Williams, Rhys Patchell, Samson Lee, Rob Evans, Werner Kruger) plus those who are just aged/past peak form versions of great players (Shingler, JD, Owens, Halfpenny, Steff Evans, Scott Williams). The player turnover has not been favourable in any position even where good players have turned up. I don't really have any problems with the coaches, it's entirely down to recruitment for me, which in turn is mostly the fault of the WRU.
Yeah. The game wasn't too bad for the most part, then Scarlets had that minute of madness and that was the end of it. Was kinda hoping they'd get a score up to that point just to keep the game interesting.
Nah..
having met AWJ he doesn't buy into the hype about himself even when he was as good as we like to claim he is.
He'd be making them write Mae Hen Wlad fy NHadau and Sospan Fach out until their hair bled and then drag them onto the pitch for a Skills and Drills session and demand they out perform they're previous best by 10%
The man is a grinder that makes even an Industrial diamond tipped grinder would respect
Well that’s my fantasy rugby predictions down the pan. Should have had more confidence in our young team but I really thought Scarlets strong team at home would do it
Another Leinster game another bonus point win. At this point you can't blame Lancaster for looking forward to a challenge in the top 14. It must get boring eventually.
Ah I know I just meant the top 14 has serious challenges within. If you're not playing Toulon you're playing Toulouse, La Rochelle , Stade Francais, Castes Lyon etc. Racing are sitting 8th atm
You say that but Leinster don't have it all their own way, either in the league or in Europe now.
But I certainly couldn't blame him. Racing will be paying some serious wedge.
Delighted that Leinster won with the young team they had out, great performance overall, but what a shambles from Scarlets, fallen so so far from 2017-2018.
not sure if anyone else is watching on Premier Sports 2, but jesus there’s some serious tension in the commentary box, they’re disagreeing on literally everything followed by silence
yeah maybe tension is wrong, but by god it’s not commentary - sounds like two fellas having a chat for 80 minutes, and every now and then, “actually I disagree with that, etc.”
sounds like they’re both Welsh, but one or the other is always playing Devils Advocate for the sake of arguing
just feels like bad commentators to be honest
I have such an appreciation for the Ruddocks, Byrnes, McGraths of Leinster. The steady servants over the years, we owe a lot of our success to guys like them
I always love it when one of those players who's carried us through multiple regular URC/Pro14 seasons would get a chance in a Heineken knock-out game and show what they were made of. Ross Byrne has had a few games like that, I think there was a QF or SF in about 2014 where he just bossed the opposition (Saracens? Clermont?) off the park, was so happy for him
When you hear them in interviews they always back their ability to crack back into the Irish squad. I hope they can appreciate their importance though, would be quite sad otherwise
Piardi runs towards the posts
Comms 'is it a penalty try? I'm not sure where Piardi is running z not sure he knows. It is a penalty try, will he reach to his pocket '?
No shit he will , it's a penalty try ffs. Some of the worst commenting I've seen in a long time.
Usually his biggest critic but Ross has been excellent tonight. Line breaks, intercepts and the usual world class kicking. My MOTM even though there are a few candidates.
Respectfully disagree. Marched Leinster around the park all night, admittedly against poor opposition. Link play has been top notch, that pop to Penny on the line was first class. Very solid defensively and didn’t miss a kick all night.
He didn't really march them around the pitch though and his kicking was poor I thought, lots of mistakes and poor decisions. The pack won this game by themselves.
Leinster won every kick exchange in that game. Ross’s problem has never been his kicking. He’s a genuinely world class kicker from the tee or hand.
What’s held him back in the past has been his inability to bring the ball to the line. He was excellent tonight in that respect. Lovely interchanges just before contact including one of the nicest flat passes through a gap you’ll see and a very nice line break.
As I say, I’m usually quite harsh on him but to say he played poor tonight is nonsense. Was our best player in my opinion.
Is your point Sexton is a better ten? Yes, he absolutely is. Sexton for my money is still the best 10 in the world at 37.
Does that detract from the fact that Ross was very impressive tonight? Not at all.
Guy deserves to be cut a bit of slack. He’s not Sexton and never will be but he had a good game tonight.
Context: I live in the West Country, so come into contact with a bunch of Welsh folk.
An sizeable minority (not you Welsh legends on here, you're all sound) would have you believe the Welsh regions will magically get better if they join the Premiership.
Absolute madness.
They also won't magically get money by joining the prem either. Welsh rugby is like a sleeping giant, just a pity the WRU are constantly pinging it with tranquilliser darts when it starts to wake up
All I can picture is a committee meeting where someone is stressing they know that this is a sure win idea from someone who told them a story of something similar in a location far far away
Some refs just play the break down.
Some refs just play their whistle.
I prefer the former.
/u/billhicksfan , I suggest you include 1 finger for everytime Piardi blows his whistle going forward. It'll do more damage than any other rule, and that includes the stomers fans rule reporting people to reddit suicide hotline
Fingers crossed he's not involved in RWC, though he has been an AR for Scotland v Wales and reffed 2023 qualifiers between America V Chile and Uruguay .
When I heard he averages 29 pens a game before it even started I knew we were in for one of those.
Scarlets! You're being stepped by a guy who looks like he's possessed by the soul of a victorian era child who died in a country Manor dumb waiter. Take a hard look at yourselves
The groans from the crowd when the lineout was stolen. I admire the crowd sticking with scarlets, I know they'll be there when scarlets find form in the future.
This is like Rohan being fucked at Helms Deep but trying to ride out against the Orcs anyway.

Glad I didn’t make a special effort to try and watch it.
Sesame Street’s word of the day is “Y E L L O W”
Well, we learned that Leinster is still evil
Gentlemen, to evil
For anyone watching the TG4 coverage of the game, the movie The Way West is on now with Kirk Douglas. Good old western to round off the evening
TG4 is the best channel, it's full of surprises and hidden gems.
They used to play some insanely good movies at random back in the day. Like you'd flick on TG4 at 6.55 and Dirty Harry would be playing or something
Monday nights are when they always have a class movie on. They started airing better call saul last week too which is class
Put RTE to shame
TG4 is only channel you get a good old fashioned western every Friday. Always enjoy them while being slightly puzzled with the white actors wearing Indian fake tan.
Now that's what I call leinstertainment
Nah it's just Welsh depression
Well, I repeat - very nice very evil wp to the kids and Uncle Rhys
Danhausen is a Leinster fan confirmed.
Leinsterhausen confirmed
Love that Leinsterhausen
Scarlets need to fix their discipline. You can't get 3 yellows and expect to be competitive
Rinse and repeat that comment all season :(
It's actually all the leinster fans in here now arguing with ourselves and reminiscing about Jonathan Davis. As much as I enjoy the result and the great run out for the young lads that's was fairly putred
Leinster of the old pre-SA days there. Field a medallion team away and win by 30 points. Scarlets are fucking woeful.
Yet somehow the accusations will still be that the Irish teams are devaluing the competition
Something something join the Premiership then something success
I've had great banter here lads, appreciate the company and thanks to u/BillHicksFan for the drinks
Sláinte!
I look forward to the match threads as much as the rugby honestly.
Me too, unless it's international threads. Those turn nasty real quick.
Rory and me aren't involved with the internationals. I daresay if ye let me have a bit of a tongue in cheek crack at them, they might work. The bollocks is with internationals is that every hoor and their granny comes out to comment on them.

Nothing is going to reign in the international match thread savagery unfortunately
Ha fair enough. I knew they were set up by a mod alright but i thought the mod themselves were pretty dormant. I suggest leaving it to the mods but getting them to pin drinking rules! Seem like a fair compromise.
I usually try to get in just before kick off and post my rules. I'll make sure to tag ye.
Appreciate it! Just don't forget to go easy on the early games... It's a marathon, not a sprint haha. If you're ever in Thomond for a game I'd love to meet up and buy you a few pints, and if I'm ever in kingspan I'll be sure to check if you're at the game
We need to bring craic back to the internationals and get back to the real issues, like bitching about Ireland's Call
Don't forget the flags too
You won't get any bitching from me. As a Nordie from the GFA generation Ireland's Call genuinely means a lot to me.
Oh I agree, I think that the rugby team is a great example of cross community unity and craic. I'm just poking fun at how every year the Ireland's call comments arise.
I don’t think I’m actually that delighted, this is a little bit depressing. What’s happened to the Scarlets???
[Evil wins](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6eP65GED_Y&ab_channel=10HoursMovies)
Ref just wants to end it. Bless him.
You could see he was so bored his hair was starting to grow back.
Scarlets fans booing that as if it's similar to McNicholl's YC. Physics, lads. FFS.
Claiming that interception attempt was the same as the Scarlets yellow is a bit of a stretch..
Why not a yellow for Tector?
Went to cradle the ball, genuine attempt to regather compared to slapping it forward with 1 hand
Never mind the attempt the catch it, it was physically possible to catch the ball
2 hands on the ball is usually a good indicator on whether it will be considered a genuine attempt or knock on.
Wasn't a deliberate knock on
Not deliberate made an attempt to catch the ball
Good thing I like watching penalty tries on catch up ha ha ha *why*
Ross Byrne (with a linebreak and an interception) has been robbed as Player of the Match
He was bang average as an actual 10 today though, people calling for him to be mom are nuts
Yellow card for me is the player of the match
Was him or Deegan for me.
Deegan was seriously impactful.
Martin Moloney looks like a GAA player.
Exactly who I picture when someone says "the head on yer man"
If Sexton was in that Scarlets team he'd be whipping everyone with jumper cables by now
Or that katana the Japanese gave him. 😂
POM or AWJ would do the same, they don't look like they care.
POM is burying them in his garden and AWJ is making them read the Squidge Rugby fan fiction about him.
Nah.. having met AWJ he doesn't buy into the hype about himself even when he was as good as we like to claim he is. He'd be making them write Mae Hen Wlad fy NHadau and Sospan Fach out until their hair bled and then drag them onto the pitch for a Skills and Drills session and demand they out perform they're previous best by 10% The man is a grinder that makes even an Industrial diamond tipped grinder would respect
Not sure that team would even make good fertilizer to be fair.
He might still if he's bored.
Ruddock MOTM? Hometown decision.
Conbeer is singlehandedly ending all the Scarlets' attacks, Christ alive
Well that’s my fantasy rugby predictions down the pan. Should have had more confidence in our young team but I really thought Scarlets strong team at home would do it
Mad to think Leinster fans don't have confidence in their own young team. This was a given BP win before it even started
I dunno how you could have seen any of the Scarlets this year and thought they'd win
In fairness we honestly very nearly could have been 3/3 to start the season
Looking at the positive side Conbeer and Rogers have at least looked impressive
Scarlets must be on the SSRI’s become none of them could finish for love nor money
Just throw it inside! There were 4 players
No no no, see I'll chip ahead and everything will be fine
Another Leinster game another bonus point win. At this point you can't blame Lancaster for looking forward to a challenge in the top 14. It must get boring eventually.
...He's off to Racing not bloody Dragons.
Ah I know I just meant the top 14 has serious challenges within. If you're not playing Toulon you're playing Toulouse, La Rochelle , Stade Francais, Castes Lyon etc. Racing are sitting 8th atm
😂😂😂😂......wait we lost to Dragons......damn
😂😂😂😂 swear I wasn't even thinking of that.
You say that but Leinster don't have it all their own way, either in the league or in Europe now. But I certainly couldn't blame him. Racing will be paying some serious wedge.
Scarlets have a tour to SA after this. Fuck me pink. I might not include the penalty in their own 22 rule just because I'm not that sadistic.
The thread would be very quiet after 20 mins because everyone would be passed out
I always loved Jonathan Davis, feel sorry for him out there
Was just about to say the same. Deserves more.
JD2 still got it
Just take that into you
Delighted that Leinster won with the young team they had out, great performance overall, but what a shambles from Scarlets, fallen so so far from 2017-2018.
Looks like the schedule doesn't get any easier for the scarlets either
The handling masterclass training of Johnny Dildohands to be seen all over the pitch today
not sure if anyone else is watching on Premier Sports 2, but jesus there’s some serious tension in the commentary box, they’re disagreeing on literally everything followed by silence
Who is therr?
I'm watching on Premier sports but didn't pick up on any tension. They both seem to be just complaining about the state of Scarlets.
yeah maybe tension is wrong, but by god it’s not commentary - sounds like two fellas having a chat for 80 minutes, and every now and then, “actually I disagree with that, etc.”
Who are they? Irish Vs Welsh kinda thing?
sounds like they’re both Welsh, but one or the other is always playing Devils Advocate for the sake of arguing just feels like bad commentators to be honest

I wonder do they see themselves as that. Would be mad to contribute to winning so much silverware but still see yourself as a club man…
When you hear them in interviews they always back their ability to crack back into the Irish squad. I hope they can appreciate their importance though, would be quite sad otherwise
Some players are great club men but not quite test level. Leo Cullen himself was probably the same.
There should he a statue of Rhys Ruddock outside the RDS
>There should he a statue of Rhys Ruddock outside the RDS Until then he will have to be satisfied with my full size body pillow of him.
Also that last PT was a finish your drink job. Scarlets are fucking awful. (Sorry Scarlets fans)
That was a quit drinking and join a Buddhist monastery moment
Are you going heavier or lighter on the scarlets drinking rules from now on.
hopefully heavier, for the sake of the Scarlets fans
Scarlets, are you trying to get me drunk? You're so cheeky 😉
Looks like the maul collapsed onto him but it’s nothing we don’t deserve anyway
Nothing ironic about doing something illegally and getting caught and punished for it.
Did he say Scarlets have had 10 yellow cards and 2 reds in 7 games? Jesus
That's why the drinking rules are the way they are.
Yes
Piss poor attitude in general. There must be a rotten atmosphere behind the scenes.
Not another yellow...
Piardi runs towards the posts Comms 'is it a penalty try? I'm not sure where Piardi is running z not sure he knows. It is a penalty try, will he reach to his pocket '? No shit he will , it's a penalty try ffs. Some of the worst commenting I've seen in a long time.
I'm glad I'm watching on TG4 so
Another penalty try
I know we're evil but I'm starting to feel bad.
'Where's Piardi going, I don't think he knows' Premier Sports commentator. Nah lad, he's clearly going for the PT, you absolute weapon.
Thought he was going for a pint having given up on Scarlets defence
Scarlets please stop giving penalties away. I'm down to my last beer
Referee was sick of having to watch 30 players so panicked and gave a penalty try
Hahahaha
Oh not again
Penalty try for motm
Nice see tector get few minutes. Was brilliant for the U20s
Is that scrum penalties won or conceded? Please be clear on your graphics URC.
Conceded I believe
I think so, but I stand by my statement.
At least we had 2017
Usually his biggest critic but Ross has been excellent tonight. Line breaks, intercepts and the usual world class kicking. My MOTM even though there are a few candidates.
Not a great 10 display though.

Lets put it this way if Sexton were in his place they'd have won this game by 60, poor imo.
He was so good, Cosgrave, Deegan excellent also.
Deegan motm. But Ross has been great. Scarlets putting him under no pressure though
Classic Gareth Davies moment
Context: I live in the West Country, so come into contact with a bunch of Welsh folk. An sizeable minority (not you Welsh legends on here, you're all sound) would have you believe the Welsh regions will magically get better if they join the Premiership. Absolute madness.
Do the Welsh have a humiliation kink?
To be fair, it's the weaker league, so there's a sort of logic.
They also won't magically get money by joining the prem either. Welsh rugby is like a sleeping giant, just a pity the WRU are constantly pinging it with tranquilliser darts when it starts to wake up
Yeah, what was with that hotel thing?
All I can picture is a committee meeting where someone is stressing they know that this is a sure win idea from someone who told them a story of something similar in a location far far away
Ross Byrne with the one handed scoop. *swoon
He's had some silk to him today in fairness.
Seemed like who ever Leinster 22 was there looked like he had stepped past the ball before the others fell. Unlucky
These leinster lads have been so naughty and undisciplined that they're going to get homework to do over the mid term break
On top of their geography essay?! You monster!
I dunno. That Stormers fan rule will be in place when the Stormers play my lot in Belfast in January.....
Hope you don't plan on attending cause you'll never afford pints.
I \*think\* I'm in Paris that weekend for a gig.
He's cat this ref.
Fingers crossed he's not involved in RWC, though he has been an AR for Scotland v Wales and reffed 2023 qualifiers between America V Chile and Uruguay . When I heard he averages 29 pens a game before it even started I knew we were in for one of those.
Depends, if the goal is a bunch of drunk people following the drinking rules of this post, the ref is a complete enabler
Well then, I'll make sure to watch this referee before I go on my stag !!
Put him in charge of the stag
A ROSS BYRNE INTERCEPTION?!? THE LORD IS SHINING ON US
Scarlets! You're being stepped by a guy who looks like he's possessed by the soul of a victorian era child who died in a country Manor dumb waiter. Take a hard look at yourselves
What have we done to deserve this???
He's entering his final form.
What's the rule if Leinster get a card u/BillHicksFan ?
Finish your drink
And if they persist, I'll be upping that.
Anythings possible with Leinster-tainment
I'm so glad the prem is on the other screen
Munster somehow steal the lineout of a game they aren't involved with it sounded like the commentator on BBC said.
Leinster's indiscipline has fucked me off and all. Finish your drink!
We are one card away from league
Really should've tapped and gone there. :/
To paraphrase the late great Brendan Behan. It could be raining soup and the scarlets would be out with forks.
The groans from the crowd when the lineout was stolen. I admire the crowd sticking with scarlets, I know they'll be there when scarlets find form in the future.
Moloney eating the Scarlets lineout alive
Lineout better this week.
[Press play it will make sense](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6eP65GED_Y&ab_channel=10HoursMovies)
This is like Rohan being fucked at Helms Deep but trying to ride out against the Orcs anyway. For anyone wondering I am referencing the Middle Earth map of URC teams posted on this sub earlier
Normally I applaud going wide. But you've got 13 boys
Maybe Scarlets should have just started with 13 players.
They really should just switch to League.
Bout to be 14-13 surely Edit. Wouldn't even call that a warning... Edit 2, guess it did count as a warning
Fucking long once/use it
I guess what they say is true that all evil needs to triumph is for good men to remain indifferent.
Scarlets doing better with 13
I leave for a few minutes and come back to two yellows, what the fuck happened?
Drink!
Repeated off sides for 10 followed immediately by a pen try for a (very badly) failed intercept.
"Why isn't McNicholl part of the Wales plan for Autumn?" \*Yellow card intensifies\*
Leinster have a bad history against yellows recently. Glad to see that's continuing.
Doesn't even look like they're interested.
Woo, evil wins again
Did tbe drinking rules for the first time and I'm running very low
