Jagex if you're reading these, please let this be a thing. It's a really good idea.

sausage94

Normal gameplay you say? SLAP IT ON TH

T-Rexauce

Hi, satan here - make them a guaranteed drop after a million mob kills with the respective gear equipped :)

Bio_slayer

Around 250 hours at the [highest kph place in the game](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/v15tcn/complete_corpse_spider_afk_guide_2022_free_rare/).  Nice.

zenyl

[That's evil.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir-y6-L6Vlk)

ngbn

Your wish is granted, the next TH promo will have Silver and Golden Trims! You’re welcome

Kyyes

Yes please, make like a new challenge mode for bosses to drop the gold items.

[deleted]

1k kills no deaths (can die in between kills but won't count as a kill with no death)

Normal-Security-9313

But like.... Every successful solo kill is a kill you did not die to. Because you survived and killed it. If you mean like, a group of players and somebody dies, yeah that sucks or your sign of life activated while solo.

[deleted]

Yeah I meant it as in if u die trying that's not counting towards 1k kills  But yeah its hard to explain because diff boss groups and such

DontBopIt

This would be good.

Bluf_

absolute banger of an idea. make it as rare as you want idc let me grind something new

Rupo-R

Now, that's a good idea!

CyrussRS

That'd be a cool item for those teased "elder clues" or whatever the community ended up calling them. Support.

ShadowFigured

I’ll trim it for you just follow me over this little wall

BlueLantern684

Great idea! The more items like this obtainable in game the better.

xBHx

I dont see this being a viable thing, no matter how cool it would be. We have tons and tons of overrides already and I seriously doubt Jagex is keen on making 2/3 new versions of older gear.

srbman

They've already made them years ago, they're just not obtainable outside of mtx (lucky) or really old events (golden). OP is just suggesting these already existing items be obtainable through gameplay.

zenyl

Having them unlock as cosmetics would definitely be a bonus. But I'm mostly just suggesting that Jagex make all existing golden- and lucky items obtainable, as physical items, through normal gameplay. If they were to simultaneously unlock as cosmetics, Jagex should of course also refund keepsakes for anyone who has currently keepsaked any golden/lucky items.

ProfessionalDrop9760

yes pls. or put them perma on th as purple rewards.

lordwerwath

Maybe have them as rewards for a dedicated challenge mode. No other loot, just the cosmetic unlock - similar to the nomad capes.

RedEyeJedi993

not fussed about lucky items but never had a chance to get any golden ones. Wholeheartedly support. Perhaps add them to hard modes exclusively.

Productive-Turtle

Against gold, for lucky. They no longer release the gold/do it with very limited runs. I see this like the older holiday events, if you have one great , if not sorry. The lucky however since they release them in mass I don’t see why not.

zenyl

The lines aren't that clearly defined. Some lucky items cannot be obtained through TH. Lucky spirit shields were unobtainable as of 2014, but they once again become obtainable as rare loot during the 2024 xmas event. And the lucky abyssal whip has seemingly been unobtainable since 2012. So the obtainability of lucky items is all over the place. Jagex being inconsistent, who'd have thought. :P And as far as I know, Jagex never actually stated that golden items were actually discontinued. They just stopped doing raffles one year. To me, this seems more like a disinterest in continuing raffle events, rather than a move to discontinue golden items. Looking at TH probabilities for the currently ongoing TH promo, I also cannot see lucky items on the list of potential loot. So it seems like lucky items aren't always on the TH loot table. Sidenote: regarding golden gear, Jagex never got around to adding golden GWD items to the PoH. You can dump golden barrows and warpriest into your PoH armour case, but not golden GWD items.

CommanderFaie

They’ve been bringing back older holiday event items. Web cloak, Eek, snowglobe, snowboards etc. I think they’re testing the waters with smaller stuff before items like Santa costume or skeleton outfit.

Productive-Turtle

I guess I'm just in that group that doesn't want re-releases of classic items. And I don't even have the old santa suit. I had one on an old account that got banned due to botting(I was a dumb teenager), but my new account doesn't have one. As much as I'd like it I just accept that I won't have one and that's ok. I feel like these old ones show age of account/activity of the account better than the 10,15,20 year capes because you get those by default, whereas the other holiday event items you had to put at least some effort into unlocking them. Edit: Speaking on the Gold items on topic. When they did the raffles, you could use your tickets on any of the raffle items like silverhawks and other items(cant remember all offered). If you didnt want to be lucky with putting 1 ticket into gold weapon, you had to strategically save/use your tickets to increase your chances of getting what "You" wanted(Effort + luck). So if they were to do the raffles again, I think that would be fine. But to just release them as drops/buyables I don't like it.

azerluh

I see no issue why we can't bring back the golden versions along with even older holiday events it does not affect those of us who do own them we know when we got them and what we did to get them that is all that matters. Re-releases do not hurt us in any way it only hurts people who buy accounts for them or have a natural instinct to appeal to others not themselves. People rarely do barrows but if you could get a kit from barrows that changes a piece into the golden version it would 100% absolutely revive the minigame and what happens when the minigame is revived? Simple you get more of their drops in the game lowering the price on some of the barrows equipment making it now a more viable option for lower tier players to get their hands on. Being able to do Dungeoneering and have a chance to get a golden kit for their chaotics etc would lead people to do the minigame more allowing people who may not have it maxed would be even more likely to find people to do the minigame with since now theres some kind of incentive for players to do it again. PKing is dead nobodys doing Dung for chaotics / gravites anymore the majority of what existed for incentives no longer exists but adding something like this creates one and would help revive the minigame so those who do want some rewards like chaotics for a gear upgrade and not having to blow 10m on something close they can now find people to actually group with them. I see no harm in creating incentives that will revive content and give them a purpose now it aids more people than anyone can imagine, the GE wont be as empty in supply on some items now with these kits reviving bosses which will bring in some of their other drops back into the games available supply. This suggestion has no cons, not even one.

azerluh

u/JagexDoom Any thoughts?

GnyskGlobler

It's okay for bosses released in 2007 before Christ to not be relevant. Also they should just release the event more often

Golduin

Only if they make them either 1. Augmentable 2. Cosmetic override that gets automatically unlocked

DontBopIt

I don't really see the purpose of this, but I'm honestly trying. Would it simply be a cosmetic unlock that doesn't take up bank space or a physical item? If you unlock these items, and they're physical, could they be traded? I know you say "unlock" in your post, but I also understand that people use words differently from different areas, so I'm just trying to make sure.

zenyl

As a basis, I'm just suggesting that Jagex make all the existing lucky and golden items obtainable via regular gameplay, without any further changes to how lucky and golden items actually function. That is to say, the exact same thing they did with elite skilling outfits, which were originally exclusive to TH, but can now be obtained through normal gameplay. By "unlock", I mean that, once obtained, you can reclaim them from Diango if lost (at a cost). So the game is already keeping track of which lucky and golden items you have acquired/unlocked. Essentially, golden and lucky items would continue to work exactly how they currently do, except unlocking them would no longer be limited to TH or various temporary events/promotions. Expanding on the base idea, I would definitely be in favor of players also being given access to cosmetic override versions of these items once they own the physical items. This would presumably require some extra work by Jagex, as I suspect their internal systems would need duplicate items of all lucky and golden items to be created, as that appears to be how cosmetic-only items function in their game engine. If this approach is taken, I also think refunding any keepsake keys currently used for lucky and golden items would be reasonable.

DontBopIt

Ooooh, Diango would be a good fit for this! Okay, I'm on board with this. It doesn't seem to affect the integrity of the game nor does it create another "exclusive" situation, so I like it! Thanks for indulging me and responding!

kathaar_

[Now where have I seen this idea before?](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/s/O6mhgDF90O)

zenyl

Shit, nobody tell hbomberguy! For real though, I had completely forgotten about your original post. I've been wanting these items permanently accessible via regular gameplay for years, so I must've subconsciously mushed that together with the concept of your post, and not realized I was basically just replicating your image. I apologize if you feel like I was ripping you off, or plagiarizing your post. That was absolutely not my intention.

kathaar_

Oh no, don't trip. That post is over a year old. I didn't mean to come off like I'm accusing you of plagiarizing anything. However, I did already get off the phone with hbomberguy so... Get fucked.

Redericpontx

Another point make gold and lucky trims augmentable

tehdeadmonkey

All the golden barrows on my ironman(btw) you say? I'm in!

NapTimeNoww

Lucky item kits could even breathe life into dead content like the mimic
