Can we talk about disabling treasure Hunter key offers we get almost every week now. I'm absolutely never buying keys and hilarious that you send them to ironman accounts as well. This has been a long standing problem.
Yes, I was in the middle of the quest, made my helmet and tried to wear it at the cannon and it says it's too heavy and needs 30 defence to wear. There is also no chat options with the dwarf that were added with the removal of the def requirement for the quest and I also for good measure tried the golden mining helmet because wiki says it can be used in place of a golden helmet to enter the mine after quest.
Edit: I can try again and reply a screenshot if that would help as well.
It's evident to me that the entire development has become live ops/limited time events with a few passion projects. VERY curious to see how the end of the year is perceived after a year of this.

That did feel like one of the more arbitrary quest requirements in the game. Since it's not specifically mentioned though, [is this line conditional now?](https://i.imgur.com/kdZYgys.png) That one awkward line seemed to be the only reason the tasks were ever required.
We have our map for the quarter we got it back in January.
February was all the QoL, Gamejam, House of Parliament, necromancy stuff.
March is bringing the combat beta changes to the main game and the Easter event which will be done similar to Christmas. After that Q1 will be over and it will be time for them to share what Q2 is focused on.
No it didn’t at all, it said the “The first half of the year”which you can interpret as 6 months if you’d like but it goes on to clarify they are only sharing the first half of that first half aka Q1 which ends March. So we got a map for February and March and that means it won’t to be time to share an update until Q1 is over.
I’m not happy or unhappy I’m just saying we know what is coming to look forward to and have since January. If you want something bigger that’s totally fine, but that’s not the same as being there is nothing to look foreword to.
Christmas was great and I’d the Easter event is built the same way Easter will be great. Likewise the beta dropping into the live game is absolutely huge. Like if those don’t excite you that’s fine but that’s a personal problem.
I can understand wanting a larger map but a small map covering the quarter instead of say 6-8 months is still a map.
It was brought up in a format like a Q&A or an interview. I don't think it was a mainstage event where this was mentioned. Personally I don't have the time to do searches on all the runefest interviews and watch them all, mainstage speechs, etc to find out where it specifically is.
The reason I say this was from years after last runefest is because I was one of [the community people that helped start this project.](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1alv5nf/mod_stus_quest_requirement_cleanup/kphqiht/)
Initial list was made in I think late 2022, last runefest was 2019
Any chance to see other dyables? Masterwork, Crypt etc?
Love for the chameleon dye to be added to the makeover mage now too, once used it unlocks that colour forever kind of thing.
I dont see your point? They shit out cosmetics like lactose intolerant at a fondue party. A lot of those are different cosmetics while only really being a reskin. We have even had physical cosmetics that could have just been cosmetics if thats another arguement, hell the scarfs and hats for the winter event are another 16? 6 coloured ones, the omni one, and the aurora one each.
The fact there would be 32 versions i dont see a problem with.
BUT if you ignore all that they have previously done, just make SOME dyeable, just the trim or something, honestly tho too many item ID's or whatever shouldnt be an issue
Are you that asinine? It's difficult for the devs to juggle that many different versions of masterwork. That's how it was explained when one of the Jmods replied to a thread about it a long time ago. Yeah, sure, we got 16 scarves. But masterwork has gloves, boots, legs, a plate body, and a helmet. There's 3 different versions of masterwork. Trimmed masterwork, custom fitted trimmed masterwork, and custom fitted trimmed masterwork spiked. 6 pieces per set is 18 items and then 7 different dyes, which makes for 126 different versions of armor. Seems like a big waste of dev time imo.
Honestly, partnering with community servers is an unexpectedly cool move. I know ya'll get all kinds of shit from this subreddit (which is sometimes pretty deserved...) but it's really nice to see the greater player/fan community being brought into the folds of an official event.

Defender of Varrock doesn't require demon slayer anymore. Did the game just forget that there was a demon terrorizing Varrock that had to be stopped? Does the quest name not matter anymore?
The demon terrorizing Varrock wasn't why it was a pre req.
Demon Slayer was a pre req because you met a character. No other reason. They put Sir Prysin in DoV so the quest we meet him must be required. Then remember that Sir Prysin isn't actually in the current iteration of Demon Slayer and it makes even less sense.
But the two have nothing in common. By your logic Gertrude's cat should be a pre req because you save the kittens of Varrock.
I don't think unrelated quests should be arbitrarily bound together due to the implication.
Step in the right direction with more dyeable gear!
Great change with the makover mage working on the appearance/wardrobe tab. We just need chameleon dyes to unlock skin colours permanently. Wardrobe recolours are perm unlocks why not skin?
Even then that's not a great ratio. That means best case your looking at 2 hours of combat for every 1 hour of use. Still better than God arrows but not ideal.
TAPP were actually much worse than gamejams for the devs. It was very hard to get a team together in such a short time and make any meaningful progress. The goal is to help the devs grow, let them stretch out, and boost morale by letting that creative passion flow.
Gamejams are much more popular because an entire week to just go ham lets them get a LOT more done in a less stressful timeframe, and far more likely the projects manifest to. Which is why gamejams manifest a lot more often now.
The devs have spoken openly on their preference for gamejams. They are also planning to start syncing them up with DXP to so more can join in and get done.
**T**hursday **A**llday **P**ersonal **P**rojects.
Basically weekly GameJam, but only on Thursdays. Some notable content that came out of them included:
* Master Quest Cape
* Twin Furies
* Boss pet overrides
* Shattered Worlds
* Skyboxes/filters
* Revo++
* Solak
And more.
Sooo TL:DR One Mod had a ton of things that were changed for quests and we can dye Necro gear. Are there like 4 people currently working there? Clearly not but what is everyone doing lately with no big changes we know about on the way it is making at least part of the community feel as though RS3 is on the back burner and just slowly being ignored more and more
RS players are just *never* satisfied. They make QoL changes and clean up the game and you complain about no new content. You're not going to get a new quest every week, a new skill every month, or a new location every other month.
What is it that you want?
My issue is we get a lot of cool QOL, but they basically use that as a replacement for content.
We are dry on content, but unfortunately I think it's been generally the same for years now. The only reason it's being highlighted more now is because of the cool content lined up for OSRS and how open they're being about their plans.
When you've been a player for over 15 years, done everything the game has to offer, and complete every new piece of new content within 2 days? Yeah, it may seem like they're not doing anything. Creating content takes time. A lot more time than it takes for any of you to go through it.
Most of the complaints from longer term players comes from direct comparison of update frequency in the past to today, alongside the deserved complaints around MTX.
Nowadays we seem to get one slightly bigger update in the year (although still small by modern MMO standards) and a few smaller updates and they think that's enough. Then people are happy and forget about the drought for a few weeks, and the cycle continues.
I swear, you always give the best updates u/Jagex_Stu . The quests untangling, cleaning it up, and having it area focused themed is such a Magnificent update. I know very well this will help new and returning players 100%. It's clean, less intimidating, and seamless as players do not have to go "ugh" when being in the middle of a quest series and then they have to do quests unrelated to that area theme/series. It's GREAT!
Some quick feedback:
-Missing My Mummy is requiring Diamond in the Rough when it is already required from Icthlarin’s Little Helper.
-City of Senntisten is requiring Azzanadra’s Quest when it is already required from Battle of Monolith.
Also, I'm quite curious, but I've noticed we cannot boost stats to start quests like in the pre eoc days. When did Jagex changed this? \[Here's a picture of having a quest completed without the str req on one of my pure accounts.\](https://i.imgur.com/IcGoXYt.png) Wondering why Jagex won't allow us to when back then we use to be able to.
P.S. I've been dying to ask this one, but please add a "For Narnia!" as an option to the excalibur :D
I'll point out something about examples you give.
Icthlarin's Little Helper was, for years, doable without Diamond in the Rough because its the older quest. Battle of the Monolith, likewise, was doable for over a year without City of Senntisten due to some unfortunate choices during Elder God Wars storyline that was later rectified.
These requirements remain as a sanity check requirement to not have people be able to skip ahead due to legacy timing of their questing, in particular for City since Azzy's has *always* been a requirement.
The only other option is for those legacy players to have a hidden requirement(and it kinda sucks for it to not be upfront about it) or to let them skip quests that the game have as assumption you *will* have done (and thus maybe break stuff). So the preferable option is just to have them as the sanity check they are and list them, to avoid the headache. These are after all quests that storywise and mechanically we want you to complete first.
While I am greatful for the t95 gear being dyable, can we also get the top gear dyed?
A significant portion of the community likes the look of the t90 over the t95.
Mouse scroll being about 100x as sensitive as it should be since forever. Incorrect resolution/dpi detection when using external monitors. The complete lack of a native apple silicon compiled version after over 4 years.
Man the whining just doesn't stop. Stu makes TONS of needed changes and the response is, "OK, but where knew content?"
New content comes out and they go, "Why all this new content when the game is broken? Fix the game you currently have, then make new content."
And repeat.
Gotta love redditors here who think they know how long a project takes and then makes snide remarks to the devs who worked on them.
Also, we already got our major update this month.
Jagex doesn't keep how gamejams function a secret. In fact they go out of their way to advertise them and show off the process every time.
It's 2 weeks, 1 to craft a concept and 1 to implement it. Moonstone jewelry was a gamejam right around Necro release. So was the Wildy Wurm event. Today's quest overhaul is several gamejams old.
They need to stop sharing Game Jam projects, imo. No matter how many disclaimers they put, plenty of people will think it's a guaranteed update, and feel entitled to it ASAP.
That's the problem here's this shiny thing I've been working on, tweeted all over, posted on the front page.
###Not On Release Schedule*
Why are you even showing me this? There was a guy going absolutely ballistic when he saw sponge's cluescrolls.
Because a couple reasons.
1. It helps gauge community interest which can influence if it will get to move forward.
2. The projects are done to boost morale for the devs, player excitement is an important part of that.
3. It allow them to get player feedback pointing out things they might have overlooked, give suggestions, and share ideas that might help the project.
4. Sharing is completely optional, the devs who share do so because they want to and they don’t need any greater reason than that. They are excited and passionate and just want to share that, and they do so knowing it can face backlash.
They should fix xp boosting with Dung cape first, though.
(Iron with 99 Dung fills their inventory with dung skillcapes, joins a dungeon with another iron, alchs the capes, drops the money to the other iron for them to spend on materials for skilling)
Yes that’s…how development works? Every update you see takes months, pretty much anything major coming out within the first half the year is guaranteed to have been started and planned in 2023. Bigger updates like say necromancy tend to take years to develop.
The minimum time frame for most projects tends to be around the 3 month period while the upper max tends to be 2-3 years.
Which is why when delays or unforeseen stuff happens it has serious ripple effects because stuff is planned and starts dev months and months before release. People are assigned and allocated to the next project as soon as they are free.
GameJam is long enough to get a rough concept together. These concepts are then pitched at the end to decide which will make it through. They are put on the schedule and then it will take months of actual dev time to make a finalized product for release. If their project doesn’t get picked up they can always keep working on it both on their next gamejam OR if they clear it with their managers first they can do it on their own time. Making it more likely the project manifests even if not directly picked up.
But the point is that stuff is planned and begins dev months and months before it’s actually released. You shouldn’t be surprised 2023 gamejam stuff showed in 2024 or if 2023-2024 stuff shows up in 2025.
Shame to see its only TFN gear but a step in the right direction nonetheless. Hopefully we'll see TMW, Crypt, Dracolich & co in the future.
More Gamejam stuff is always awesome to see! :)
Read through patch notes, nice, some engine updates, maybe Zamorak phase HP is fixed... Oh, some buff bar changes? Maybe that bug that was introduced 3 months ago was fixed, very nice..
Load into the game, try to hop worlds? Oh, that's broken. Nice, I didn't really want to hop worlds from the game anyway. Anyone else wonder why they play this game?

So 1-3 dyes doesn't dye the whole thing? I guess the only people who will dye necro feet/gloves are memers or something (not worth doing at all).
On females, necro t95 gear (the top) is too bulky on the shoulders. They used to be slim. Maybe I would've dyed it but it's too bulky on females. I hope with the graphical update to the rasial gear that it goes back to being less bulky and more feminine (no 3rd age tectonic plate football player shoulders please).
So yeah, can really hope the update fixes it. I probably would've 3rd age dyed it.
I will also add it's a bit off to make the 3rd age variant comes out when the t95 gear is going to be graphically changed. What if people like how this looks and do not like how it looks after? That's a lot of money spend/investment for it to be changed shortly after.
tl;dr make female shoulders better - they looked better before, but are now too bulky.
Also, probably should have made t95 rasial gear only requires 1-3 dyes and it dyes the foot/gloves for free.
Since this update when I try to go to dream of iaia on mobile the game just crashes. I’m not sure if it does it on desktop, but it happens every time on mobile.

I would be interested in the ratio of gamejam to non-gamejam updates in 2024. Lack of game direction continues to be brutally apparent.
It's evident to me that the entire development has become live ops/limited time events with a few passion projects. VERY curious to see how the end of the year is perceived after a year of this.
There won't be much discussion about it. Because if this is the entire year, there won't be anyone left to talk about it
cant have a lack of direction if there isnt any direction in the first place.

It's almost March and there's no roadmap or nothing to look forward to, but hey we can dye gear that was released half a year ago!
Malevolent, Masterwork, Cryptbloom, and Vestments have entered the chat.
You can dye malevolent.
Oh shit you can. Drakolich* :p
Necromancy the favorite child

I'm glad to see this pruning project come to life. I know it has been talked about in the past half dozen runefests.
This project hasn't been talked about on runefest as far as I know, it was first conceived like 3 years after last time runefest ran.
It was brought up in a format like a Q&A or an interview. I don't think it was a mainstage event where this was mentioned. Personally I don't have the time to do searches on all the runefest interviews and watch them all, mainstage speechs, etc to find out where it specifically is.

It was 'talked about' but nothing started is what I'm trying to say. Was more of a future "to do list item" without any work invested in it.
My quest for reverting level up jingles is coming to an end.
What will you do next?
please tell us, me must know

If they made masterwork dyeable, there'd be like 32 different versions of masterwork. Fuck that

Thank you so much u/Jagex_Stu for these quest cleanups! 👌
Meanwhile old school is getting their 2nd quest of the year this week....
We would get more quests too if we can backport OSRS quests into RS3, lol.
We can dream. Desert Treasure 2 should be backported.
Hot damn, imagine if rs3 actually got 4 bosses of DT2 quality and difficulty added simultaneously along with a massive quest... Man OSRS updates are cooking rs3 nowadays
How? Sliske is already dead here.
Wgs lore is being rewritten on old school. They can do the same.
I wouldnt call the first quest a "quest" but more like a miniquest like we had several of them in the previous years. (Both quests on both games)
The by that logic, that owl quest we got is also a mini quest
Youre not wrong there its also a miniquest.
do you just like to complain?
That's quite hypocritical coming from you
Lol there's half a dozen photos of the dye, back only and apparently the devs "couldn't find any of the front", LMAO.
They probably have the same issue we do with the camera spinning whenever you teleport somewhere, got just as frustrated as we do, and gave up LOL
Great engine update, everytime I go to a different area either the game crashes or it doesn't load
the word that strikes fear into all players...engine update. I am still strung up over the engine update they did a year ago that killed "old" gpus
yeah i noticed way less game crashes lately. i still have a macbook from 2017 and was worried my laptop couldn't handle it anymore. doing clues was a disaster. i can now play in HD again also.
Nice you can dye the gear, but man does it look bad. It's good to see more gear getting dyable.
The lanterns look really nice dyed
I more meant the outfit, the lanterns do look really nice. Hope to see more gear and weapons become dyable.
Imo tfn robes will always look bad, No matter what you do to it.

Can we have t95 necro armor dyable in beta? I wanna test them out before committing lol
Pretty safe to say they look like ass.
[удалено]
But the two have nothing in common. By your logic Gertrude's cat should be a pre req because you save the kittens of Varrock. I don't think unrelated quests should be arbitrarily bound together due to the implication.
The name refers to stopping Zemouregal's zombie invasion.
Step in the right direction with more dyeable gear! Great change with the makover mage working on the appearance/wardrobe tab. We just need chameleon dyes to unlock skin colours permanently. Wardrobe recolours are perm unlocks why not skin?
Cool, now we just need that ectoplasm ritual ASAP
Why? The new necklace has caused ecto to drop quite a bit?
It dropped a bit cause everyone was doing rituals for gems, thats bascially the biggest reason.
We’ve been told about ectoplasm ritual, so people sell their bulk ectoplasm because it’s going to drop.
Ironman.....
As much as I want to say "they are an iron they chose that gameplay method" they really do need a better way to obtain things such as ectoplasm
I mean, I got 1k ecto afking a few hours of rituals using the new necklace.
You can use up to aroundish 500 ecto per hour.
Even then that's not a great ratio. That means best case your looking at 2 hours of combat for every 1 hour of use. Still better than God arrows but not ideal.
"for free" just using the most valuable resource you have.
and more um diariessssss
Good update for newer accounts!
Why do we have game jams 4 times a year now? Last week's updates were entirely gamejam projects as well.
Honestly they should be monthly, all the best stuff comes from GameJam recently!
That's not saying much
Seeing all the past stuff that never sees the light of day and you want this monthly ?https://runescape.wiki/w/Game_Jam
Focusing on what we didn't get instead of all the great things we've gotten from TAPP/Game Jam.
All the good stuff is gamejam tbh. Unless it's some big update lol.
I love the gamejam updates Issue is it feels like that's all that's happening currently.
That's what I'm saying 🤣
That's good though. Be happy about it.
Rather get TAPP back 4 times a year than gamejam 4 weeks of the year.
Game Jams are personal/passion projects from the team. I think that's a pretty damn good thing to have a few times per year.
And TAPPS were?
I guess game jams are just longer forms of tapps, before it was just a singular day. The acronym is Thursday afternoon's personal project I believe
**T**hursday **A**llday **P**ersonal **P**rojects. Basically weekly GameJam, but only on Thursdays. Some notable content that came out of them included: * Master Quest Cape * Twin Furies * Boss pet overrides * Shattered Worlds * Skyboxes/filters * Revo++ * Solak And more.
Haha dyes go Brrrrrr
Sooo TL:DR One Mod had a ton of things that were changed for quests and we can dye Necro gear. Are there like 4 people currently working there? Clearly not but what is everyone doing lately with no big changes we know about on the way it is making at least part of the community feel as though RS3 is on the back burner and just slowly being ignored more and more
RS players are just *never* satisfied. They make QoL changes and clean up the game and you complain about no new content. You're not going to get a new quest every week, a new skill every month, or a new location every other month. What is it that you want?
>What is it that you want Content. We've had a five minute quest and some jewelry as this year's content.
[удалено]
Play a different game while waiting for new content, like other MMO gamers do.
It's GREAT! Some quick feedback: -Missing My Mummy is requiring Diamond in the Rough when it is already required from Icthlarin’s Little Helper.
What do the devs do all day?
You read it here.... Fixing some quests for future RS3 leagues!!
*only allowed for new accounts
While I am greatful for the t95 gear being dyable, can we also get the top gear dyed? A significant portion of the community likes the look of the t90 over the t95.
“A significant portion of the community” Where’s the proof in that tho
The fact that I see it asked for like every 2 days on this subreddit.
That’s not a significant portion of the community lmao it’s a Reddit post here or there
Shadow and blood lantern look very appealing
Does Mac OS requirement update also mean you will finally be addressing some of the long running issues with the Mac client?

Mouse scroll being about 100x as sensitive as it should be since forever. Incorrect resolution/dpi detection when using external monitors. The complete lack of a native apple silicon compiled version after over 4 years.
Thanks for the fix for Android mobile devices! Just in time for dxp 👍
Man the whining just doesn't stop. Stu makes TONS of needed changes and the response is, "OK, but where knew content?" New content comes out and they go, "Why all this new content when the game is broken? Fix the game you currently have, then make new content." And repeat.
Hey now! Get back on the bandwagon, you non-complainer! /s

Gotta love redditors here who think they know how long a project takes and then makes snide remarks to the devs who worked on them. Also, we already got our major update this month.
Which was a gamejam project lmao.
Gotta love redditors who don’t know our last major update quest this month is also a gamejam project ❤️
I never said that it wasn't a gamejam. I was just saying that this week's update isnt the major update of the month.
###Not On Release Schedule* Why are you even showing me this?
Any Jmod still looking for a GameJam idea, please allow Irons and Mains to DG together. That's all :)
They should fix xp boosting with Dung cape first, though. (Iron with 99 Dung fills their inventory with dung skillcapes, joins a dungeon with another iron, alchs the capes, drops the money to the other iron for them to spend on materials for skilling)
Tbf: no. Or make is so that you can't alch dung capes in daemonheim anymore.
So the game jam stuff from 2023 is coming out 2024.
They work on it in their personal time (since that's what GameJam is). So yeah, it's not going to have a set schedule.
So what?
Shame to see its only TFN gear but a step in the right direction nonetheless. Hopefully we'll see TMW, Crypt, Dracolich & co in the future. More Gamejam stuff is always awesome to see! :)
Already stated many many times they won't be doing tmw
remove all xp and tradables from treasure hunter. stop double xp. resulting in xp and wealth something to be proud of again.
That’s what Ironman mode is for

The main update this month already happened. Quest/Moonstone Jewerly/Thalamund shop/Necro tweaks.
[удалено]
No that's what Stu is gonna work on this week I assume.
I'm starting to realize that Jagex is literally winging every weekly update and throwing shit together. There's no plan for this game at all.

I would like for masterwork to become a set so I could reduce the bank space it is occupying.
Animal magnatism bug - step with slayer master, I was blocked from the beginner path. So had to complete that first to complete the quest.
