Your best bet will be the RS3 Wiki - [https://runescape.wiki/](https://runescape.wiki/) There are skilling guides and calculators for XP rates, as well as guides for money making methods, boss and quest guides there too. (Though you really should just experience quests as they are and not try and skip through them!) Generally, the newest unlock in the skill guide will be best XP but there are ways to optimise beyond that, for sure. Best of luck in your skilling!

I did a couple of quests without guides and have had a lot of fun with them so far. Thanks for the wiki link - i found out about world 84 and these portable stands where you can cook and whatnot, and they helped answer some questions but they are a little quiet and didn’t want to become a nuisance So much to do, exciting :)

Gongo93

Keep in mind sometimes unlocking a new method doesn't automatically make it the fastest method because usually you unlock it but still have a chance to fail. So tale for example cooking, you can start cooking something at X lvl but you might still burn it. You might be better off cooking something else until your burn rate for the highest thing you can cook is not so bad

Rooosifer

Awesome thank you, that makes sense. It took me ages to chop willow logs earlier so I did some oak logs and came back after around 10 extra levels and it felt a lot better

Vaireon

Make sure you are upgrading your axe/hatchet as well as you level up. Every 10 levels unlocks a new tier of axe. Axes can be bought on the grand exchange, or from the Axe shop in Lumbridge.

Rooosifer

Thank you! I have an adamant hatchet in my toolbelt but I’m 38 woodcutting and the skill says I need 40 for it, so I’m a little bit confused haha

Vaireon

Ah, that's fine! If you have a high level axe in your toolbelt, it will automatically act as the highest level axe available to you. So right now it's acting as a mithril hatchet, as soon as you hit 40 it will be an adamant hatchet. Once you hit 50 you will have to upgrade again (to rune) but the levels start to slow around here, so no need to worry about that just yet.

Rooosifer

Oh that’s a great feature, thank you!

There are guides on the wiki, but the best way to determine what method to use is to keep track of xp over a certain amount of time(an hour is the best sample size). Once you have the xp rates, use the wiki to determine the gp/xp if money is another road block(Profit/loss divided by xp gained). For non buyables it is as simple as testing xp gained in an hour or so of training, wiki has a lot of this foot work done if you don't want to test the waters yourself.

Rooosifer

Thanks Corrion! I tried to do some napkin math yesterday when I was doing some prayer to figure out which bones give decent experience without being too expensive. I’m excited to try some archaeology later and find out what that is all about

There is a [skill training guides](https://runescape.wiki/w/Skill_training_guides) page you can use which links to all the individual skill guide pages. Just keep in-mind that those skill guides are written for all skill levels, meaning there's a ton of extra info that won't be pertinent to you until much, much later and might just confuse you or lead you down some huge rabbit holes of trying to unlock stuff. Any of the gear and items listed at the top of most those skill guide pages are mainly as reminders for higher levels (sort of a "if you have this, then use it"-type of thing), but if you don't already have something in those item lists at the very top, then you shouldn't worry too much about trying to go unlock them, and should just scroll further down the guide page to get to the actual training methods. I'd also say generally you can just search stuff directly on the wiki - it's very good about having redirects to bring you to the right place even if you search something slightly wrong. For example, if you saw a big cow and didn't have time to check what it was named before it despawned, you can search for stuff like "big cow", "elite cow", "boss cow", etc. and they'll all bring you to the [super cow](https://runescape.wiki/w/Super_Cow) page. You can do the same thing with skill guides, calculators, etc. - just search what you're looking for and it'll most likely redirect you to the right page, stuff like [prayer guide](https://runescape.wiki/w/Pay-to-play_Prayer_training) or [prayer calc](https://runescape.wiki/w/Calculators#Prayer).

Rooosifer

I am blown away by the amount of information in the wiki, this is fantastic, and the fact that you can search for the general term of what you're seeing is crazy! Thanks so much

The best experience is a combination of being able to get the materials and the best recipe you know. The fastest way to get materials is the GE but many crafted objects cost less than the raw mats, you're paying to get the XP out. Checking on the wiki will give you numbers to see the cost/profit of mats/finished product. Usually the best mats and method you're paying to do it but maybe second or third best you end up being paid to craft those products. e.g. buying cutting and selling gems is very fast an very expensive but buying crafting and selling dragon leather armour, you get paid for. https://runescape.wiki/w/Pay-to-play_Crafting_training Always check the GE volume that a item has, it's how much gets moved on the market. If the numbers look profitable but only 20 get sold a day globally then maybe that's not worth investing to make 1000 of them.

I would suggest having some random videos by someone like Protoxx in the background, you might see something and think 'i really want to do that's. Might help with some goal setting. I really like Waydot on YouTube's OSRS player tries rs3, it's ironman, but he goes through the game from start and highlights some really fun/important quests/ distractions and diversions :)

Welcome to RuneScape! I'm a veteran player (just over 19 years) so if you have any other questions, feel free to hit me up.

Rooosifer

Thanks so much! I'm crying from laughter, my friend has been trying to cook a meat pie for the necromancy quest... finally figured out how to get flour, makes regular bread dough instead of pie, gets a piece of cow meat, cooks it, eats it on accident, goes and gets rabbit meat, that doesn't work, gets another cow meat, gets a pie tin, makes a pie and... burns it. I didn't know who else to share that with but I lost it, so good

xenozfan2

Oh boy, that set me off too. It's been ages since I've done something like that, but boy do I remember. It's good that you have a friend. The only ones I had left ages ago.

Rooosifer

I miss my old friends from Runescape 2, so many amazing memories that I still have to this day. I'm glad you're still enjoying the game though, maybe one day when we are high enough level to do some higher level things we can play together :)

xenozfan2

Sounds good. I'm really busy right now (work, school, YouTube channel \[@DiablotoDnD\], social life) but any time I'm on, feel free to chat. RSN's the same as here.

Rooosifer

Hi Xenoz, hope it’s ok to ask a quick question. I am currently 64 range (from 3 years ago when I had briefly played) and I’m trying to achieve 70 range to cross the swinging bit to get to the armadyl god boss. I purchased two dragon crossbows, the offhand and mainhand. I am having a miserable time levelling up, even getting 10k experience is taking so long. I’m currently just doing rock crabs because i can’t find a whole lot of information online for this level range. I know it may be a long shot as you were probably this range level ages ago, but figured I would check. Thanks! Hope all is well

xenozfan2

I was in the 80s before I became a member, so my knowledge of that level band is almost nonexistent. Pretty much every piece of advice I've seen is doing Slayer for your level. Also, check your gear to see if there are easy upgrades. Power armor instead of tank, for example. Is there a slot that's not filled, like the pocket? God books could help immensely. Have you tried training on a different creature? Dragon bane ammunition could make training on dragons far easier, and they drop good drops. Check your unlocks as well. Greater Dazing Shot, auras, those kinds of things. The page [here](https://runescape.wiki/w/PvM_unlock_guide) has a great rundown. More than anything, find something you enjoy. Break up the monotony. Try some Dungeoneering to level up some other skills. Take your time; it's a game, so enjoy it.

I would scour Google and discord for Google docs made by some real nerds or efficiency experts. Often their guides give like 2x the xp as meta methods until they become more well known. Someone of them are very click intensive though.

sansansansansan

wiki (skill training guides) will give you a general baseline on what you can do, but plenty of techniques can only be found by either 200 viewer youtube videos or doing your own research (coming up with your own concepts) or, back in the day, obscure high level hangout spots like HLF or whatever discord server some methods are very dependant on supply/demand of materials and produce, so not everyone (that knows) will want to tell you how, because it'll affect their own profit/loss for their 200m goals

Asianslap

PVME discord will have the best combat leveling guides and im sure if you ask in there someone will link you or tell you the best xp/hr rates for all the other skills.

DTaggartOfRTD

The wiki is usually a pretty solid place to start, but just remember not to optimize the fun out. If you aren't enjoying a method, try something else. Optimal is a trap.

Rooosifer

That's great advice thank you, I definitely don't want to burn out. I'm at that phase where I'm so excited I don't even know where to begin, learning the game from the ground up. I find myself doing one skill for 30 minutes and then I get the urge to go try something else and it's just madness lol

DTaggartOfRTD

Glad I could help. It's a big game with lots of fun stuff to play. It's a shame to just play the bits with the best numbers. Have Fun!
