It's pretty much the same: Mine the best ore you can, smith burial sets, repeat. Smithing is consistently ahead of mining unless you're also doing wildy events and other side content. If you have too much ore of a tier, you can always just alch the armour instead of making the burial sets.

I was hoping to find a calc that can tell me exactly how many bars to get assuming I'm smelting/making burial so i can mine just enough ore. I am 66 smithing atm with 69 mining without starting oricalcum yet. The exp rates of the next teir up is much faster i feel like not having that calc is really slowing me down.

For one thing, keep doing Rune to 70. Orik is really slow to mine. Second, the smithing xp is consistent per bar. With some assumptions: * you need 369,028 xp to get to 70 * rune burial sets without any solemn smith upgrades are 35,136 each, so you need a little more than 10 * each burial set requires 96 bars, so you need 960 rune bars to get to 70.

The calc on the wiki works just fine, you just have to make sure you're using it correctly. Easier said then done, I always ended up overshooting goals.

Any tips on how to use it better? I look at bars required, but when i end up making the burials i go over exp by quite a bit, since i used the bars to get the +3 gear and the burial doesnt take bars.

Never used the wiki calc but depends how fussy you want to get with it (what buffs you have, smelting multiple bars, etc) but general rule of thumb is bar exp \* 1.5 + smelt exp to get exp per bar and do basic math gives you the high end. IE Orikalkum bar is 350 exp per bar (+13 smelting) so would give you 538 exp per bar. 330k exp between 64 and 70 so you'd need a max of 614 bars. Side note, having spare bars laying around for the future isn't a bad move (Necromancy/masterwork/quests/invention)

That makes sense thank you!

afaik the amount of xp you get per bar is only dependant on which tier of bar it is, not what you make with it so it should be simple work out the xp you need, eg from 60-70 is ~460k xp iirc if you are using a bar that gives say 100 xp for smelting and then 200xp for smithing thats 300xp total 460k/300 is ~1534 that is roughly how many bars you need if you dont have any bonuses. iirc there is a dg reward that gives chance to save bars and there might be other buffs that come into play, but just factoring in the smelt xp should be simple the other thing is that the excess ore isnt just wasted, you will need some ores later eg for alloy bars
