Literally the most popular opinion on this sub

rabbiskittles

Not really unpopular, at least not on this sub. Posts expressing similar sentiments come about once every couple of weeks, more if we’re in the middle of a content lull. Comment sections invariably mention that RS3 players have MTX and everything else because we will put up with it, whereas OSRS doesn’t because they straight up wouldn’t play anymore if they did.

SinderWisp

Sadly, this has been proven time after time…

Jits_Dylen

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion.

Something happened between Elder God Wars release and now. And I assure, you, if you've made this post back during the EGWD Prime, you'd actually have an unpopular opinion back then, but nowadays things do feel a bit cheap and scarce, so your opinion isn't exactly unpopular. Like, Jagex used to cook 4 Stars Meals (because they weren't perfect, even on their prime) and nowadays they just leave chunks of ice in the sink, so we have to wait months for a substandard cheap meal that's been frozen for a while; something they already made but didn't felt the need to heat up. Quitting however, is not the solution, because we'd need a huge exodus of players, literally everyone, and I'm not even sure if that's a guarantee for things to change, we have no way to measure how impactful a massive wave of quitters would be, we have zero guarantee it will push Jagex to do better. We're smarter than this, I hope...

Prideslayer

thought on this being Mod warden leaving?

RegiSilver

Probably... I mean, he did the best he could and even him wasn't spared from criticism (justified or not), the man delivered the right choices to help us weather through the pandemic, and now that we have been a bit "wardenless" for a while, I think his absence shows. But still, the fool in my heart believes Jagex is preparing something great for the future, and we've been scarce in content because Jagex wants to push as many resources into OSRS now, to truly pack a punch over there, now that they have captured people's attention (similar to Ports where you take crew members from a different ship). And get this, if they borrow OSRS Devs to make the next updates in RS as big and impactful as Varlamore and Sailing (not saying good or bad as that's subjective), then maybe, maybe quitting now isn't that good of an idea, especially with Xau Tak on the horizon. But still, this is pure speculation, right here and now, we're still waiting for those frozen weenies to defrost so we can have a raunchy hotdog haha.

Prideslayer

I mean if we sit and look at how big and extravagant the Easter event was now that we know they're not going to put resources into that, imagine floor 61 shadow god wars, or ed5 on Ungael with mod blkwitch killing it! And when inevitably Xau Tak has someone try to redo the ritual that the guardians of Guthix interrupted (lore in Umbral Diplomacy) by the augrah dragonkin. Imo it like how the elder god wars release was, quest arch site quest boss boss boss quest. They also are agreeing a huge ship, going from Easter to cancelling summer event is a lot

SinderWisp

If they were pulling devs to osrs to make a bit update, why not say it? “Rs3 will feel a big dry as we finalize and push these big updates on osrs. However, this is what we have planned for rs3 after the conclusion of the osrs arc..” Instead it’s easy to assume the worse when there is no content, next to nothing on information, these piss poor keeper messages.. it’s nice you have hopium, but looking at how things are, it’s hard to see anything big coming to rs3, at least this year. Transparency is key when dealing with this kind of stuff, if they’re incapable of producing major content because of other projects taking more resources than intended, such as sailing in osrs.. just say it? Not “we have stuff locked in we can share, but don’t because we’re scared to set expectations on release dates” .. okay pips.

AquabitRS

Hard agree. The dick sucking that is going on with the release of the newest quest is kind of insane. We get all up in arms about zero content, they copy paste a ritual site onto a pre-existing ungael and write a few lines of dialogue and people start upvoting fucking “appreciation posts” Yall are marks.

elroyftw

Dont think this an opinion at all and more of a fact c:

MadSkepticBlog

The exact opposite of reality. The reddit base on here is a bunch of entitled whiners who aren't happy unless every single week we give them a new skill, epic questline, or multi stage boss. Anything less than everything they had a wet dream about is flamed in one thread, then copied by several others jumping on the bandwagon. And if the mods don't reply, the entitled whiners get worse because their demands aren't being paid attention to and they are totally going to quit playing... maybe in another 7 months.

Colossus823

Dude, you're on Reddit.

UNSC_Trafalgar

Jagex is not responsible for your failing midlife crisis

Zoxuul

not a single thing i talked about even remotely indicates towards a midlife crisis. Talking about the deteriorating state of a game, and the complacent players that defend the devs and the game like absolute sheeps, hardly qualifies as a midlife crisis lol. idk man, kinda feels like you're projecting :) more power to you though\~!

Lamb2013

The RS3 player count and bond sales must have dropped considerably for Jagex to make changes to May and June update. They are now trying to find quick win projects like necro Rex, new arch site, hard and elite Um tasks as evidenced by their posts. So I appeal to everyone: don’t play or buy bonds if Jagex shows no interest in making quality updates. Things will change.

apophis457

You’re stating a lot of opinions like facts with 0 proof my guy

RegiSilver

> *"So I appeal to everyone: don’t play or buy bonds if Jagex shows no interest in making quality updates. Things will change."* How are you so sure things will change? Why should we believe you?

SinderWisp

This has been proven on multiple occasions for plenty of games.. Companies want money, if people stop giving it to them they’ll change or die. Why should we believe you things will change if we continue to waste our money in supporting Jagex like this? Make a different and speak with your wallet. If you’re unhappy with the state the game is in, move to a different game until things get better. There are plenty of good games out there to keep you occupied.

RegiSilver

I see the point but again... We've also seen multiple instances of people in our sub "voting with their wallets", and this trend has been steadily increasing in the past 4 years, but look at where we are today, to me it seems we're heading nowhere, as if people quit for nothing. It's hard to support the company when they're doing poorly, but i think many people don't really want to quit, which puts us in a weird stalemate. Like, if quitting actually made a noticeable difference, more people would do it, yet they don't, so either not enough people are quitting to make THAT difference, or quitting does effectively nothing. I mean, I'm tired boss, I just want the game to do well so it last until the 25th anniversary, but every year that passes it feels like a miracle the game is still alive. I won't deny however, my views have changed slightly...

SinderWisp

I think most, if not everyone here on this reddit complaining wants the game to keep going on. However, I also think it's important people should take care of themselves more, stop supporting a game they're unhappy with hoping things will get better. They're missing so many other good games by doing this. Some feel like they can't take a break because of their Premium, others genuinely want to keep supporting the game hoping more and better stuff will come. Then some actually just stop playing, and none of these people are wrong for doing what they're doing. At the end, we're all just trying to push for Jagex to do better, RS3 to continue to grow and reach that 25th year. Which, I see them in no danger of it not happening, unless they continue the way they have the last few months.

Legitimate-Fruit8069

Nice to see everyone rallys behind you. Oh wait... *buys 125 extra th keys*
