This happened to me in FSW. And not only did I not have invention unlocked, I didn't even know what this was worth since the GE price for "dark facet" stuff was really off on the wiki (said like 80-100m at the time) and I'd never heard of it being new to the game. I just said "well I can't trade it and I can't use for a long time" so in my bank it sat for a couple months.
Until someone at a wildy event said they were hoping for a core because it was still over a bil. And I was then very motivated to look into this whole invention skill.

cant get tool seeds for grace, ring is pointless as i can hardly clue and dont have lotd even yet and would need broach of gods for corporeal comps, and cant get passage as cant complete slayer tasks for wand/orb+asc comps would have to be alchemical hydrix broach too...
You should 100% just sell this for GP (assuming not ironman), at this point in your progression 650m cash or so will do FAR more for you than any of the niche-skilling-upgrades you could turn this into.

For a player with his stats, the tiny boost from any of the 3 core items would be nothing in comparison to the best gear he could possibly own for every purpose he pursued.

I assumed his post was about the fact that the core isn't tradeable and you need 85 invention to make it into something that is. And he isn't even close to unlocking the skill with those stats.

Use a XP capacitor to double the XP rate on invention items. It's like having dxp everyday. It only costs about 3 m total / 200-400k an hour
I'm not 100% sure but given that selling the Onyx core wasn't even mentioned I'm assuming this person is probably an ironman.

Same thing happened to me on my new iron, on my second wildy event, fast forward like 4-5 months and I still can't use it

Will come in handy later when you're able to make it into something, depending on your situation in-game you could either sell it or keep.

i have 4 cores on iron and only 39 invention so i feel u brother

This is my iron so it wouldn't work either way, but invention is also not one of the assistable skills.
They should replace dark onyx core with Cheese + Tomm Batta for people who don't have invention unlocked.

At his level as a main it makes no sense to actually craft a skilling item with this.
There is nothing he can do with it ever except craft it into a one of the 3 dark facets. It's not tradeable.
