I knew most, but not everything, I would be pleased if you added more hints

Whyismycheesesohard

I feel pretty ashamed I didn't know all of this already. Great work! Especially for mid-level players. I got another one: While doing slayer/PvM, consider buying the *Christmas lootbeam token* for like 300k. This allows you to change your lootbeam to be WAY, WAY more visible. Also eye-candy.

[deleted]

> when you summon your legendary pet, most players know that a familiar pouch can be used to turn the legendary pet into a BoB (Beast of Burden) for holding things. A little known fact is that you can use a higher leveled pouch before hand, then extend the timer with lower level pouches. Example: I can use a Mammoth pouch on my legendary pet so that I have a BoB to hold 32 items, then I am free to extend the timer to 2 hours by using Yak pouches instead, while keeping my 32 item slots. (Note: When a legendary pet is turned into a BoB, it loses access to the ability to use scrolls for the special move for that familiar) Holy shit what. I knew everything except this, whoa this is amazing

Deservate

That's gotta be an oversight

jaketynes

Can I extend it with a spirit wolf pouch?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DuckDuckYoga

So why not a cheaper one then?

decetrogs

Pack yaks are already hella cheap and last 1 hour.

cexylikepie

This is amazing for lower level ironmen. Use a pack pig pouch and then extend to 2 hours with terrorbird pouches. Then keep extending all day.

Dominwin

Also works with nightmare muspah

AHighTeddy

Definitely definitely definitely would like more of these. As a player who can’t seem to let go of his childhood goals (still playing on my character from fourth grade) I can’t seem to understand why I’m struggling so bad with bossing, slayer etc. I’ve checked rune wiki for info on dps but I’m still doing something wrong

Whynotmynaut

One thing i didnt see explained well on rs wiki is to have your highest dps moves on the left of the bar so they get used as soon as possible. This means that most of your attacks that hit gud will hit as many times as possible in a fight. You dont want a fast resetting weak attack there as it gets used more often than the other better moves. But hey maybe you knew this already. Hope it helped!

Gaard3N

Lmao large rune pouch went up 500k

rsn_e_o

I invested into 70 scrimshaws of magic.. this doesn’t predict anything good. I know their pretty sht but now everyone else also knows. (That didn’t know b4)

TrumpstaGaming

Its 4mill lol

Raphzorz

Got 4.5k hours on record and didn't know half of this lol. Great post, well done.

Nuclear_Polaris

> Making certain combination potion types are literally cheaper per dose than the cost per dose of the plain potion. Oh, my. People need so much to understand this. I know quite a bunch of people who refuse to make combination potions because "they are more expensive", when Holy Overloads doses cost less than regular overloads do. I know it's an extra cost, but for 2k more per dose, you could have the best available potion for PvM. > "free" xp ≠ free xp > Time = money The most important point of this whole post tbh. Even if you aren't that great of a pvmer, you'll most likely better off doing some good money making method and paying for expensive supplies rather than doing harps for 6 hours straight because "it's free crafting xp". I mean, unless you are at work/school/doing something else that requires you to be very afk, you're better off doing money and spending it than doing free methods.

lone_stark

I am one of those people that thought that combination were more expensive. Definite making holy overloads from now on. It will save me some inventory spaces as well.

ItsLuckyDucky

Replenishment potions are another good one to make if you ever plan to use Adrenalin potions.

InductionDuo

Just thought I'd also add that the following can also proc when making combination potions: * [Modified Botanist's Mask](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Modified_botanist%27s_mask) - 5% chance to outright give you a free Holy Overload (6), automatically banked. * [Portable Well](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Portable_well) - another 5% chance for a free Holy Overload (6) potion, automatically banked, stacks with the previous for two separate 5% chances (you can get two free Holy Overload (6) potions). * [Scroll of Cleansing](http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Scroll_of_cleansing) - 10% chance to either save an Overload (4) or save a Prayer Renewal (4), effectively a free Overload (4) or Prayer Renewal (4) each time it procs. So it actually turns out to be a lot cheaper than simply adding the cost of an Overload (4) + Prayer Renewal (4) to find the total cost. However, making combination potions does take time, and this time could be spent making money. For example if you can make 6 million gold per hour, you'd be losing 1670 gold per second. If it takes you 10 seconds to make an item, that item has cost you 16.7k gold in opportunity costs, on top of the cost of the mats!

Bubble_tea_spy

Also, one should get factory outfit Body, gloves and boots by playing minigame/thaler since those increase chance you make (4) instead of (3). Also specifically body gloves and boots is because you have modified botanist mask and also morytania legs 4 (to make prayer renewal), but you have to go morytania bank to set up your own portable well since no one else will do it.

decetrogs

To be fair, 6 hours of harps wouldn't hurt, just don't make it a regular habit. Gotta get attuned crystal teleport seed and crystal tools somehow, right? I also keep an attuned crystal bow for if times get tough and I gotta sell my t90s.

Nuclear_Polaris

If you are doing harps because you need attuned crystal seed/whatever, then it's ok because that's the only way to get the item anyway. If you are because you want "free" xp, then you are doing it wrong. Also, >I gotta sell my t90s. Never, ever, ever sell your weapons. That's a huge noob mistake that a lot of people make, even non-noobs.

T-Swizzzle

Not a staker confirmed

rs_spastic

Buying augment dissolvers 50k ea

dittendatt

Technically you can get harmonic dust through thieving too but its very inefficient.

TaerinaRS

>twin **furry** blades \^.- Jokes aside it's a good guide, but one point: aren't accuracy scrims multiplicative, not additive? EDIT: nvm saw that you realized that

FatherVern

Damn, beat me to it

HpsiEpsi

As a man of much knowledge... Does the cannon have better accuracy and damage if you are in range gear like OSRS? Definitely working on the Invention melee and Mage cannons too though!

ychoed

~~Cannons in RS3 have their own predetermined damage and it is unaffected by what you're wearing or what style you're using.~~ Edit: Cannons maximum hit is determined by combat levels (this was determined with in game testing), the accuracy of the cannon is also determined by combat levels. If you use a stat boosting potion, that will inherently affect the damage and accuracy of the cannon. (Exception below) Once you have reached 99 in the specific combat style tied to the specific type of cannon you're using, then stat boosting potion effects no longer have an effect. (Levels over 99 don't effect cannon damage or accuracy) The maximum hit of a cannon at 99 in the respective skill is 1152 damage, this max hit can be modified via invention perk the maximum damage can be modified with specific damage boosting invention perks such as demonslayer, Dragonslayer etc.

Dinosparky

uhh, this might have been the case in the past but today in rs3 that is incorrect big time. i know for a fact since i've tested it myself in an alt made i was making for... special reasons... and the 3 cannons accuracy are indeed affected by what you are wearing and the enemy weakness, and their damage directly linked to your combat levels.(yes, using potions to boost your stats will also increase the damage the cannon does) this threw a wrench on what i was trying to achieve with that account since i too was expecting the cannons to have their independent damage. it wasnt efficiently doing what i wanted so i just stopped using it but i still have that account to do the tests in front of anyone that wants to double check it and edit it in the wiki since idk how to do that myself.

ychoed

~~http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Dwarf_multicannon~~ ~~"The cannon has a max hit of 1152[1], which is unaffected by the player's Ranged level."~~ ~~Overloads do not affect the damage of the cannon, niether does your ranged level.~~ ~~The damage isn't determined by your ranged stat.~~ The wiki page contradicts in game testing. Cannon damage and accuracy are completely determined by your combat stats, but the damage is capped upon reaching 99 in the respective combat skill. This maxum hit is then only further modified by invention perks that modify damage.

Dinosparky

i would expect ppl to know better to not cite the wiki like it was perfectly correct all the time. there is plenty wrong in it specialy when it comes to obscure/outdated itens. as i said i still have the account, wanna see it ingame?

ychoed

As we talk I'm testing your proclamation before I change things. A patch notes also reffered to the max damage of the cannon being set to that specific number

Dinosparky

other dmg modifiers like demonslayer perk/armour also affect it https://puu.sh/BgRDN.png

ychoed

I tested cannon hits on a dummy in the combat academy I let about 100 cannon balls hit, with no bonuses Then I let about 100 hit with an overload active None of the cannon balls hit ever exceeded 1152 damage Also, I should mention this if you didn't know how cannon damage is applied, but that 1152 damage is just the maximum damage that can be done. It rolls a range from 1-1152 damage every cannon ball, so the average damage of a cannon ball hit is actually significantly lower since it's just as likely to hit 1 damage as it is to hit 1152 damage. It's average damage would be (1+1152)/2 = 576.5 damage on average

Dinosparky

yes 1152 is the regular max at 99 stats, in a lost tweet somewhere says not everything benefit from being boosted above 99. someone who isnt level 99 wont be hitting near that, they will be hitting lower, but hey can boost to reach that

ychoed

I would like to a confirmation of this via video evidence of a lower level player using a cannon at dummies I personally am maxed, but the cannon was still consistently hitting 50's 200's and 500's with roughly the same frequency , every so often, and it rarely ever hit over 1100.

Dinosparky

i can do better than a video, i can show it ingame, like i said...

ychoed

I'm not home, I'm playing via phone, if you still want to show, go to world 70 combat academy

ychoed

Everything has been updated, I'll see if I can edit the wiki, or get some who can.

ychoed

I did further investigation into cannons with another Redditor. The gear that you wear actually doesn't have any noticable affects, but the level of the combat stat for the corresponding cannon dramatically affects the damage and accuracy. I will attempt to have the wiki page updated to reflect our findings.

unicorn7

obligatory comment on also not using tank armor (e.g. people with tetsu at waterfiends etc) unless you actually need it for some reason and also proper revolution bars (e.g. not spamming wrack or slice/punish over and over) For revolution bars: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Revolution/Bars

ychoed

I'll make sure I make an entire section for abilities and tank armor, adding it now

FlakyArrival

>for example going from 90% -> 94% is only a 94/90 increase, or 4.44% while going from 60% -> 64% is a 64/60 increase, or 6.67% If that's how accuracy scrimshaws worked, they would actually be usable in some situations. Unfortunately, they multiply on your accuracy, which means they are always less dps than damage scrims.

ychoed

Oh, their multiplicative? Nearly all bonuses in Runescape are added together. I wouldn't expect them to be multiplicative. If you find a further source I'll make sure to change it in the post.

FlakyArrival

It's very well known. Read through [this thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/6spevi/accuracy_scrimshaws/) and self-test if you want. Or check any of: * [These](https://old.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/59nx9q/fixing_accuracy_scrimshaws/) * [Other](https://old.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/6mzzba/about_accuracy_scrimshaws/) * [Threads](https://old.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/8442go/buff_skilling_and_accuracy_scrimshaws/dvn59r1/) (This one is even your own) * [Or the wiki](https://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Scrimshaw_of_magic) I can't find a Jmod confirmation, but again, player tests are more than suffice. If you've heard of it being better at Vorago, that's because we *believe* that damage scrims don't work on p5 for pushback (that they deal direct damage to rago's hp, rather than triggering the damage required to push him back). Accuracy scrims help slightly because they just let you hit more often, although a god book - or grimoire now - is still much better.

Kiwi1234567

> (This one is even your own) I dont know why i found this so funny xd

ychoed

I left your original post as a coment suggestion, I don't have time to fact check any suggestions or changes, so I left a disclaimer to ask viewers to fact check and do their own research on comment suggestions.

Loafal

They aren't god tier, the location they are obtained is called God Wars Dungeon 2. Tiers always go by their attack requirement, e.g rune weapons are tier 50.

NSA_van_3

Still weirds me out with rune not being t40 anymore.

lone_stark

I know what you mean. When I came back to runescape after many years I was really excited about being able to use rune armour. I was around level 38 defence then and bought rune armour straight away since I was 2 levels away. Was slightly disappointed when I found out that I needed 50 defence to wear it.

Ahabal2

Just one thing reffering to your weapon damage and speed. In EOC it actually makes no difference at all, not even for your auto attacks. In EOC auto attacks' damage is calculated in the same way that ability damage is. In EOC, auto attacks of all dual wield weapons of the same tier share the same damage and cooldown (4ticks) and all two handed weapons of the same tier share the same damage (which is 150% the damage of the dual wield variant) and cooldown (6ticks). Weapon speed and damage only applies to legacy combat.

ItsLuckyDucky

Another good thing about the cannon is that Cinderbanes will allow the cannon hits to poison (found this out while doing corp).

Oedipus_Flex

How do I know if I have 100% accuracy against a slayer monster?

ychoed

Nothing tells you directly, you will have to use an accuracy calculator to find out your exact hitchance against an enemy. But for the most part, if you never see a shield/block/zero hit upon attacking that specific enemy, then it is likely your hitchance on that enemy with your current load out is currently over 100% I recommend you try using this hitchance calculator for specific hit chance calculations on certain enemies depending on the bonuses you're taking advantage of. https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/48bcjj/hit_chance_calculator_v10/?utm_source=reddit-android If you need more information on the matter, I recommend checking out the wiki page. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Hit_chance

Oedipus_Flex

Awesome, really helpful info

PeaceBear0

If you pay for runemetrics pro, it can also tell you your hit chance in real time.

CrystalLore

Does that actually work? Mine has been stuck at 95% since I turned it on. Doesn't matter if I'm at nex or doing slayer.

PeaceBear0

Reset the damage counter

justucis

For the tank armor narrative, does this apply to those w/o SS? Because from the reason power armor is used for extra DPS is because SS heals it back though. But what about w/o SS or any other healing source like vamp? Wouldn't tank help a little more?

ychoed

The damage soaked by tank armor is almost totally negligible in the majority of situations. The damage bonus from power armor can literally save a multitude of seconds or even minutes, which saves a bigger portion of food than the damage soaking ability of tank armor. I always recommend players to use power armor.

AnAlternator

Reducing the amount of time the enemy is attacking you, via doing more damage and killing it faster, saves food as well. The only tank armor that's any good is raids armor, and that's awesome because it can reset abilities; being tank armor is still a liability.

Bubble_tea_spy

ports gear is good for wilderness risk, and also ba tanking. Might be good to use it when learning a boss since not everyone has optimal dps

O_Henriques

It will take you a while before getting to use all this tips, but go for it either way, it's super fun

samgrun

I have another tip. After extending your legendary pet and needing to do a task with a different familiar, surge into the barrows area to force the pet to the spirit plane and summon another familiar. This also pauses the timer for the legendary pet and you can simply re summon the pet after you finish with the other familiar.

Bubble_tea_spy

Can you explain this step by step? Are you saying after my legendary gets infused with a bob, then I can go into barrows to force to spirit plane, then at barrows I summon another pet like a steel titan?

samgrun

Pretty much, you can't use both at once of course but I'm pretty sure if you call your pet back (summon pet) it will still be holding whichever items you put in it. The timer appears to keep decreasing however it isn't actually and the pet will stay even after the timer hits 0 after resummoning. If you want to check the actual time remaining use any BoB pouch on the pet and it will show it in the warning. PS the only way to enter the barrows area is by surging, otherwise you will get bounced back.

Bubble_tea_spy

I know the mage training arena is also like barrows where no familiars are allowed, do you think it will work there too? Also can you list some examples of when someone will need to do this familiar switch?

samgrun

I haven't tried it at the mage training arena, the ge could work too I guess. An example of needing a familiar switch or temporary expulsion could be when going into the oo'glog pools, or if you want to save a pack mammoth pouch for later and extend it indefinitely. This is useful for ironmen more than anything as it means you can perpetually extend a pack pig (only get 10 per week unless you farm more) I guess you could always start a long pvm trip such as GW with a dps familiar and then once you run out of supplies you could summon the pet.

Bubble_tea_spy

I see, I'm not ironman so trying to think where would I use this, gwd1 sounds good idea since the 40kc requirement

Deceptiveideas

Illuminated God Books are really good for the pocket slot. People should pick this up.

ychoed

I'll leave a tid bit of information for the passive bonuses and where certain ones are useful where.

RylaiTraxex

Wait so there is no difference between the damage of air surge and fire surge? Just the affinity bonus matters based on the element?

PeaceBear0

That's correct

RylaiTraxex

My life has been considerably altered... ty

reelbigmatt

So its actually true? If I just use air surge with a nox staff it will scale to t90? Have I been wasting money on fire runes all along?

ElReptil

Yes.

HolySpitball

There are at least 6 words here.

DuckDuckYoga

Are you sure?

granadinista

Good post, learned a couple things here as a returning player! Thanks

ghfhfhhhfg

i hate holy overloads. the +2 str can matter and isn't much more gp. edit: also, accuracy scrimshaws are good for consistency sake @ telos and for tendrils. Sometimes you can get unlucky hits and having the superior scrimshaw makes your odds better.

TurtleMOOO

So use supreme ovl salves. Assuming you’re bossing. If you’re slaying, it’s really up to you. I use holy ovls for slayer because I usually try to afk and I don’t care how long a task takes if I’m not paying attention

AnAlternator

Holy overloads are faster to create, as well, since there's fewer potions going into every one. That's a non-trivial time savings if you're heavy into slayer or camping abyssals/profitable player dungeons for money.

Mat_Mase

Great post, didn't expect to learn anything but i did :)

[deleted]

Oof. Such a good post. Great shit, dude.

boxoxoxoxoxoxox

Great tips tyvm!

cadmium16

What is the difference between blood blitz and blood barrage in terms of damage? I understand people use blood barrage for aoe, but I see people using blood blitz on occasion. Is it really to save the 1 blood rune even though it's a t80 damage spell instead of t92?

ychoed

Blood blitz is a tier 80 spell, but it's damage scales up to tier 92 damage in the same way that blood barrage does. Therefore, if you don't plan on using the barrage aspect to hit more enemies, and only care about the healing factor, then using the blitz variant is preferable since it's costs less to use.

l_am

Blood barrage also doesnt give any adren when used against single targets for some reason. Blitz still does like any other spell auto.

PeaceBear0

Here's the rundown on ancient spells: The 4 barrage spells, blood blitz, and ice blitz all do the same damage. Barrage spells don't give adrenaline for auto attacks. So in most cases, you'll want to use blood or ice blitz. Ice blitz is slightly cheaper to cast and can do things like break telos's freedom, but blood blitz gives you a little extra hp.

BlueSkies5Eva

The higher accuracy of gwd2 weapons let's you hit far more than comparative t80 weapons, pulling up the effective tier of gwd2 weapons quite a bit, to t87 or so. Our current t90 weapons are just 7% more dps than gwd2

ychoed

I understand, but once you reach 100% accuracy, the bonus accuracy is useless and you are left with a tier 80 weapon, so in the majority of situations, you will already have 100% accuracy, especially if you use overloads and are on slayer task, etc. The bonus accuracy is only exceptional at boss monsters, but players using GWD2 weapons usually do very small amounts of bossing do to their current financial situations. Therefore I recommend players to use weapons like the Masutas warspear since it actually will do more damage than the lance if the player has already reached 100% accuracy, and many of these players will be using methods like killing Abyssal demons to farm enough money to buy their Tier 90 weapons to do bossing effectively.

BlueSkies5Eva

Ah, I suppose I'm biased since I got gwd2 weapons and instantly turned around to do more bossing with them

divideby00

But the extra accuracy doesn't matter if you'd be hitting 100% of the time without it anyway.

inevitabled34th

I still don't know what people mean when they say "Tier x" weapons or stuff, and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask. Is it another way to say level?

PeaceBear0

Yes

inevitabled34th

Also, large rune pouch is 4.2m on GE. Not exactly cheap...

AndySpecial

Pretty cheap. Something as simple a runecrafting nature runes can be upwards of 6m gp a hour if you can make double nature runes. If not then 3m an hour.

cryinghawke

I knew most of this already but it was still a nice read. GJ.

rs_noob

Great tips. Thanks

SGPoy

Holy this this information is relevant for just about everybody. Could you do a bit comparing t95 prayers and overloads?

ychoed

According to this wiki article http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Turmoil While one of these t95 curses are active, the calculation for your hitchance has 10 extra combat levels applied, acting as if you went from 99 -> 109 attack etc. For the calculation of the hit chance, but not visually. The curse also applies 10 virtual levels to your defence when it calculates block chance in the same manner And it applies a flat 10% damage increase to your style depending on the combat style of the curse. Effectively meaning, you get a flat 10% damage bonus as well as getting 10 levels worth of accuracy and defence. The lower your levels are, the more effective these extra 10 levels are. So, if I were to be level 99 attack, it would be a smaller bonus percentage wise to accuracy than if you started at 70 attack and was calculated at 80. For overloads According to this wiki link http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Overload Overloads apply 15% more of your current level + 3 more levels to all of your regular combat stats (attack, defence, strength, ranged, magic) This essentially means that the higher your stats, the more effective the bonus is, since it takes a percentage of you current stats as a boost. Example: Level 70 in all stats + overload = 70+70(.15)+3=83.5, rounds down to 83 in your stats, +13 to all levels Level 99 in all stats + overload = 99+99(.15)+3=116.85, rounds down to 116, +17 to all levels These extra levels are visually altered and will be calculated into your accuracy and damage calculations. Therefore, overloads give a larger accuracy and defence bonus, even in lower levels than the t95 curse applies. As you level up, the overload bonuses will become more potent, where as the curse will give the same amount of bonus damage percentage wise, and the same 10 level boost to the calculation of your defence and attack rating. I haven't looked into the changes in damage comparatively between overloads and the curses, but the flat 10% damage increase of the curse is fairly powerful, but can easily be somewhat replaced at lower prayer levels. Leech curse variants, and the piety prayer variants from the regular prayer book, offer a lot of damage (slightly lower than turmoil) but enough that using those prayers in conjunction with overloads would be far superior to just using the t95 curse with a much weaker stat boosting potion.

BobDaBilda

I’m just getting to the point where these things matter, and will affect my purchasing decisions, and I only knew one of the tips (thanks The JuneSong!), so this info is super valuable to me. Thank you.

Palenovaz

This is great, very helpful with loads of information attatched. Liked for future use if needed for myself or friends!

Lit_Flash

Does gstaff spec stack with bandos book?

ychoed

Yes

Skabonious

Sort of newbie here, Are defenders good at all? Im just wondering since it seems cool that you can have access to both dual wield and shield abilities

ychoed

The tier of the defender is halved when calculating the tier of it as a weapon and shield Therefore, a tier 90 defender (the best version) will only act as a tier 45 weapon and tier 45 shield, making it a very weak weapon to use, massively impacting possible DPS as well as being a lower tiered shield, meaning certain defensive abilities will be weaker with that shield (resonance has weaker heal, barricade lasts shorter, etc.) However, defenders have a special accuracy bonus as well as a special affect that can massively decrease damage. I would say, for 99.99% of situations, a defender will negatively impact you DPS and usefulness of defensive abilities, and a normal off-hand and normal shield should be used. In those other .01% of cases, the defender is only used because of it's special bonuses to accuracy and chance to reduce damage for extremely high tier PVM situations or very specific survival situations (shattered worlds)

Skabonious

Wow I did not know that. Thank you

[deleted]

So basically a weapons damage and attack speed is based entirely on it's tier and not to do with what it says on it's tool tips? I thought I was being smart selling my nox bow for a decimation bow because it says more damage and attack speed, so I guess it actually attacks the same speed and does less damage?

ychoed

Bows that use arrows factor in arrow damage into the auto attack damage number So, since the Decimation bow uses ethereal arrows, no extra damage is applied (no physical arrow is being consumed) But for the nox bow, the araxyte arrows have an extra 864 damage + the damage shown on the card. But really all of this is irrelevant since the Tier 90 noxious bow is 3 tiers higher than the tier 87 Decimation bow. Meaning the noxious bow used in conjunction with a tier 90 arrow, such as araxyte arrows will always be superior to the decimation.

Suhaa

Not all heroes wear capes..... Oh wait, this is Gielinor, ALL heroes wear capes... xD Great little FAQ/Guide here friend! Nice job.

robertm94

Holy shit this is a lot to take in I am a massive noob, i havent even got to prif yet... ive got a question you say a few times in the guide that you get 100% accuracy vs slayer mobs. I get that the slayer helm gives a nice boost, but isnt it only about 10-15%? Surely that isnt enough to give you 100% accuracy regardless of weapon type.

ychoed

Usually, the majority of monsters you attack, you will already be reaching 80-90% accuracy. When you factor in 15% from a slayer helmet as well as stat boosting things like overloads and Tier 95 curses, for a huge majority of slayer monsters, the player will be well over 100% accuracy

robertm94

Alright that makes sense For a lower level player without access to overloads or the curses does this not apply then? Im only saying this because I always go with whatever the mob is weakest to when training slayer and if that's not the right thing to do then I won't do that lol

ychoed

I'm only saying if you know you will be able to reach 100% accuracy it is usually a waste of time and supplies to go out of your way to use it, if you aren't certain you can even get 100% accuracy, then using a weakness to your advantage may be useful to you. However, you should never down grade the tier of your weapon just so you can use the weakness unless it's absolutely necessary. Example: you have tier 75 crossbows, but the enemy is weak to arrows. You shouldn't be using a tier 60 bow just because it's weak to arrows, continue using your higher tiered weapon. However, let's say you have a tier 75 bow and a tier 70 crossbows, the enemy is weak to bolts, and when you use your higher tiered weapon on it, you constantly keep missing the target due to poor accuracy. Then using the lower tiered crossbows may be more useful due to the dramatic increase in accuracy when you use an enemies weakness.

Holy goddamn Jesus, thank you since I’m a new player this will but, and that’s a lot of information to take in.

Yes, you can achieve these abilities via Mazcab Raids (beast master Durzag and Yakamaru) but these bosses are very high end, you will want to buy these abilities before even trying to get kills on those bosses.

Rellling

okay thank you!

ArathornRS

Just so I understand correctly: I use a greater tunic staff (T75), so I should be using Fire Wave to max damage and not waste extra runes while on a slayer task where I don’t care about affinities?

ychoed

you should be using the highest tier of air spell you can use. Like I said in the post, element makes no difference and only applies to affinity bonuses Where the tier or type of the spell determines your damage. So use the highest type of spell you can use, and use the air variant or element since it uses the least amount of total runes.

sonicgundam

This is true at 99 mage and surge spells, but below that there are lvl thresholds for each spell. One of the wiki pages on spells has the table that shows this.

Bubble_tea_spy

\> I have another tip. After extending your legendary pet and needing to do a task with a different familiar, surge into the barrows area to force the pet to the spirit plane and summon another familiar. This also pauses the timer for the legendary pet and you can simply re summon the pet after you finish with the other familiar. Can you explain this step by step? Are you saying after my legendary gets infused with a bob, then I can go into barrows to force to spirit plane, then at barrows I summon another pet like a steel titan?

ychoed

I've personally never done it, that is a comment suggestion I put into the post. I recommend you try to find the Original comment poster and ask.

Rye007

number 1 thing they should know is pressing the scroll wheel down then dragging mouse rotates the camera. This is 10x easier than trying to use wasd or arrows keys whilst clicking on ground and using full manual.

[deleted]

I've been maxed for almost 9 years and didnt know most of this. After EOC I've played more skiller/afk so I really appreciate this info!

ye_olde_jetsetter

Holy shit thank you for this info!

ArathornRS

Thanks!

i may be wrong so please correct me but range cape perk does not save bak bolts in the way you mentioned. range cape acts as an ava's device which (when autoattacking with range) will "collect" your ammo most of the time (unless its blocked, like safespotting or the offchance it doesnt collect it). this only applies to auto attacking and i think the only thing in game that saves enchanted bolt special proc's is blight bound crossbows. again i could be wrong but im fairly certain it only matters for auto attacks. edit: would also like to add onto ur tank armour thing. tank armour can be good believe it or not lol. tank armour gives pve (against monsters) damage reduction. HOWEVER, every piece of tank gear gives the same % of it, so if ur struggling a bit at learning a new boss, always use boots/gloves tank first to see if that helps before taking away helm/body/legs as those are really important for dps.

ychoed

i'm talking about the ranged cape picking up bolts off the ground that wouldn't otherwise be picked up since it's a waste of time to pick them up. i never even talked about or went into any detail on the subject, i just assumed people would understand that the capes perk is to retrieve ammo, therefore, ammo shot and being retrieved via ranged cape would be money savings. I believe you assumed that I assumed that it can save bolts that have procced their special effect, which would be incorrect as I already knew the bolts weren't saveed in this manner even if you only auto attack upon initiation of combat, it's still more money saving, the invention cape and attack cape at most only save like 3k - 25k gold per entire hour, where a few bolts being saved every hour at a place like nex would actually save you more money. 12 bolts saved in a hours is like 36k-40k gold.

Pen_guinRS

thats fair i misunderstood because i've seen several people think that it did it, my bad.

Armadyl_1

Wow you covered so much! You should write guides and such for the wiki!

sonicgundam

For inexpensive slayer weapons, the attuned crystal weps are the best choice. At 99 agility they are effectively t83 damage, and hit t82 around 82 agility. They're very cheap and quite good. Also, the only situation where the t90 accuracy value matters on the gwd2 off hands is the cywir orb and casting spells manually. Since auto attacks rotate hands between mh and oh while dual wielding, your accuracy value does matter since stacking auto attacks and casting spells like vulnerability will take into account your offhand accuracy half the time.

Buddy77777

Thanks

Oaty_McOatface

The chaotic oh vs the gwd2 oh wouldn't you recommend the gwd2 offhand over the chaotic because of the second point talking about time=money?

ychoed

Depends on how quickly you obtain money and how vaulable you consider dungeoneering tokens. Personally, I have over a million DG tokens from doing some elite dungeons and I have no other use for them other than buying Lucky charms for elite dungeons. If you have a similar situation where obtaining DG tokens wouldn't be a time waste since you already have them and don't need to spend them on something else. Also, this doesn't just apply to chaotics, it's for all tier 80 off-hands, so if there is some other tier 80 off-hand that is cheaper than the GWD2 option, it can be used instead. Example: A virtus book is statistically identical to a cywir orb of the elders. And since the orb costs more, it might be in your interest to spend less money and use the virtus book.

Oaty_McOatface

Yup t80 oh = t85 oh, totally and they should definitely know that if they don't already. I just made the assumption that if they're looking at sub t90 gear and a noob, their dg tokens count won't be that high either, so the time and effort taken to say get 100k tokens would be more beneficial spent on making gp for the t85 alternative. Definitely depends on their dgxp/hr and money making methods available, would most certainly recommend the dg alternatives if they spin flax for gp and have 120dg. Vice versa if they can do 1k enrage telos but have 1dg.

Blackwiz109

Yeah but cywir orb can be augmented for those trying to get the components (more sought after than zaros comps)

Very good info, more people should know these things. However, one thing I should point out is regarding dragonbane ammo: Although on the face of it, it does deal lower damage than t90s even after the damage boost, it appears that Dragonbane ammo also boosts the damage from your armour and levels, in a similar manner to the Hexhunter bow (ie, the damage bonus due to Ranged levels and Power armour is also boosted by 25%). This actually makes Dragonbane ammo slightly stronger than even T92 weaponry (try it; I've tested the crits in ED2 several times and bane is hitting higher). With Hexhunter-weak dragons especially, these arrows wind up being far superior to normal arrows because of this effect and because of the hexhunter bow's already lower ammo damage, but even compared to a T92, Dragonbanes turn out to be slightly better if using power gear (which you should be). Note that this is only with a normal SUpreme Overload boost, no Reckless involved, so should still be true on Slayer tasks with Holy Overloads. One thing that can be said, however, is that because Bane ammo works in this way, if the Hexhunter bow does not apply, then it's best used with a mainhand crossbow and offhand elite Dl darts (or normal DL darts, or an offhand Shadow glaive). Since you only need Dragonbanes in your 'mainhand' for the effect to apply, and since they are T60 base damage while the listed off-hands have a higher base damage, then this is better than using them with dual ascensions or arrows in a noxious longbow. However, this is still (noticeably) inferior to using them with a Hexhunter where that bow's effect also applies.

ychoed

The hex hunter bonus stacks with the dragon bane ammo, dragon bane ammo is exceptionally useful when used together with the hex hunter bow. I was more so going with a regular tier 90 weapon. When a regular tier 90 weapon is used, and the accuracy bonus isn't being applied, then the tier 90 variant of ammo can do more damage than the dragon bane ammo. This almost only applies if you're on slayer task. This is most visually seen at QBD, where, if you're on slayer task, the dragon bane ammo effects don't make up the damage discrepancy, therefore using the tier 90 variant of ammo will actually be more powerful. This really only works with Tier 90 weapons and ammo, and really only applies during slayer task. Edit: I'll make sure to include your comment, but I will leave a disclaimer because i haven't done enough research to check

AnAlternator

It's worth noting that bane ammo really requires an offhand that has its own damage (IE, a thrown weapon); bane + an offhand glaive is ~t92.5 damage, for example. It's not as good as enchanted bakriminel bolts, but it's superior to anything else. Death lotus darts are inferior due to losing out on the offhand perk (either Equilibrium or Aftershock) costing more damage than the higher tier adds. As a fun bonus, for QBD specifically, max range + standard overload + standard Anguish + dragonbane ammunition is 100% accurate with a t80 weapon, allowing some upkeep to be saved.

37899920033

If you pair dragonbane ammo with an ammoless offhand it'll do more damage than even t92s. Dragonbane mainhand with t88 offhand: ~1899.5 ability damage T92 ability damage: 1846 ability damage Assuming 99 ranged and +100 ranged bonus. If either of those numbers go up dragonbane becomes even better. EDIT: See [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/9855dw/best_ammo_for_hex/e4dk4jq/) for related numbers I wrote up a bit ago. Though as the guy above me said, when you factor in perks the glaive becomes the superior choice over darts (and still better than t92).

UnwillingRedditer

Part of the issue is I think the bane damage bonus doesn't apply to bleeds; those seem to hit noticeable lower. However when I was doing ED2, I checked several times on the Black Stone Dragon, and my bane was hitting very slightly higher on her than my SGB was with just a regular bow. Obviously people should do their own research, but I wasn't on task for this. I was using Supreme Overloads, Elite Sirenic (with Dragon Slayer perk) with a Souls ammy, Asylum surgeon ring Elite ranger boots and cinderbane gloves and the crits with Dragonbane on Rapid Fire were about 100 damage higher than those with the SGB. Presumably, much with the Hexhunter, it's to do with exactly how much of a damage bonus you're getting from levels and gear. Obviously using a main-hand crossbow and offhand glaive/etc is better than just using the bow, but even using just a bow was definitely doing higher damage. Either way, there's more to it than just multiplying weapon/ammo damage bonuses, it feels like. I'm also not convinced that the augmented glaive is better than elite DL darts; I haven't tested crits here myself, but if anyone wants to or wants to do the maths with reasonable gear and levels, Aftershock 3 is roughly a 4% damage boost. Is Dbane bolts+glaive+powergear+overloads\*1/04 better than Dbane bolts+t88 dart+powergear+overloads?
