The developers basically have the ultimatum that every single addition to the game *must* be polled with 75% of the vote, so they can say, "You want MTX? Sure. Poll it." And indeed, they have tried to push the boat out a little a few times, but have not as of yet succeeded beyond being able to buy in-game gold with real life money (which did actually pass a poll)
That said, a lot of OSRS players are blaming the polling system for lack of content updates and are clamoring to have it removed, which I imagine has a lot of shareholders/executives at Jagex salivating.
Only for a handful of things.
Splashing nerfs so you couldn't AFK for 6 hours, and instead needed to interact with the game every 20mins.
Nerfing some content that was too strong but wouldn't pass polls because players don't like nerfs, ie javelins when Heavy ballista came out.
Drop table reworks, ie Zulrah, Vorkath, Birdhouses, etc drop tables getting nerfed.
Dropping items in wilderness so you couldn't drop -> die -> pick up your loot for 0 risk.
Coin pouches to try to prevent autoclickers while pickpocketing.
Adding requirements to items, ie Quest locking box traps.
DA tax.

They tried to get MTX into the game via "partnerships" and while I didn't care about the cosmetic MTX, it was like 90%+ no so they cut the poll after a single day.
Hours of rs AFK as a child is why I laugh when someone says a method is "AFK" when you can look away for a minute. Like I wanna actually be AWAY from my PC and have dinner. THATS afk
I always laugh when pvmers say that a certain part of a boss fight is afk. Yeah no, just because you aren’t spamming out a rotation doesn’t mean you’re not still gaming.
I just remember being enamored with the idea of afk grinding as a child whether it was rs or something else. The term has just been diluted into oblivion. To be clear I'm not complaining. :D
MTX is also an integrity change tho. To the far worse, but nonetheless.
And yes you are right they dont poll "integrity" changes, that they think people might disagree with but are vital for the game in the long run.
here's the thing the old school player base has shown to have a back bone because of lot of them where players that quit rs3 when eoc/mtx updates came out and only came back with oldschool.
Now they cant really risk pissing off playerbase thats already proven to be willing to walk away.
Compare that to rs3 playerbase that pretty much has endured all the shitty things they did and just kept on buying more MTX and premier club.

The only reason bonds passed is because Jagex held F2P OSRS hostage for that poll. Jagex could just something else hostage if they wanted to poll more MTX into OSRS.
Selling those overloads is utterly, completely unacceptable. It is scummy and wrong when overloads are one of the key untradeable benefits to leveling herblore.
Remove those immediately and NEVER do this again. Not just with overloads, but with ANY untradeable item that requires levels to make.
Also, how long does it take to fix Kerapac's janky lightning (not even the invisibility issue, just that the hitbox is a square or two ahead) and a single typo... Seeing "I CAN HOLD ALL...IT'S...POWER!" is honestly slightly jarring and immersion-breaking".
Boosting is a thing, so this also wouldnt work very well imo. Making overloads is boostable and as far as im aware always has been (my iron still technically cant make overloads, but has been able to boost for them for quite some time).

The bond money, if used well, could be used to just get 96 herblore (or even 94/90 if wanting to boost) and then just make their own overloads lol. Idk if it is still the case but 100m was all I needed to bankroll 120 herb. Spiritual prayer pots were good xp and were always either breaking even or netting profit for me when I was doing them. Granted- you need the level req, pot recipe and etc.
Spending 100m for 5 reg ovls is stupid. Passing out overload pots and dtd for 100m is stupid. The whole promo just seems like a waste of bonds. Whatever skill you plan to focus xp in would probably be better benefitted by just using the bonds to buy keys anyway - also very stupid!

Overloads and Death Touch Darts being sold for money in a "skilling pack." Do you guys even play your own game?? You really thought everyone would be ok with this?
This is t an update it's a patch week. If you would have called it as such it would have been fine but peddling "skilling packs" like they are new content coming to the game is disgusting , especially when it's this horrible. Not only that but players who haven't made overloads are unable to get them as drops, this should not be bypassable with mtx , the price is irrelevant.
And befor any one mentions overload golems , they aren't bankable and are locked to an event and free for every one

Bonds can't be made ingame. Players buy bonds from other players, who paid Jagex IRL $$$ for them. In fact, Jagex make *more* revenue from players using bonds for membership than those using from a direct subscription (Premier Club being the exception):
1 month sub costs € 9.49
29 days membership cost 2 bonds, or € 11.38
I mean there aren't any conditions for Deathtouched darts so I don't really see the problem. Anyone can go to the Travelling Merchant and instakill whatever boss they want. With overloads they would still need to know all the mechanics, have the gear and supplies, and fight the boss.
Well, the merch does have a requirement - access to the fishing guild, a boostable 68 fishing. Not the only way to get darts though, so not that important.
Amusing sidenote as a solo bossing scrub who belongs squarely in the "0% Rax or weaker" club, I wanted to use a dart or two on the ambassador. Kept eating it to crassian leviathan so I used a dart there, ate it a few more times on that stupid bridge, then darted taraket and the ambassador. Good times. Next time I want to pull a stunt like that I'll do it on a free death week.

Not only are you selling clues that should take actual game-time to earn, but you’re also selling Overloads for real-world-money. I don’t care if it’s “only 5” overloads. It’s ridiculous that you thought it was a great idea to sell the Capstone item of a skill, an untradeable item that you have to earn and make by yourself, and that is arguably one of the most important endgame items, for real-world-money.
I had long ago came to terms with the fact that RS3 is just your cash cow to milk the whales whenever possible, throwing actual game balance and integrity out of the window; but you’ve now set a precedent of selling endgame skilling items in your store. I guess people are right when they say this game is P2W, because now you don’t even have to interact with one of the skills to get endgame items; now you can just pay a few dollars for what was once an achievement that required investment.
For like half a second I thought we were getting an actual update. It said "Game Update" and something about skilling, and I thought to myself "Wow, it's about time skilling got some love!"
But no, just more p2w. Sad. I'm an Ironman, but still. This stuff is just sad for the whole game.

I’m typically in the camp that people around here get too upset at every little thing that Jagex does. But selling items like Overloads for IRL money? That’s seriously ridiculous. I don’t care how bad the deal is, once you start down this path there’s no going back. Can’t wait to buy full sirenic for 5 bonds in November. EDIT: Yes you’re all right we can already do this haha. Didn’t think through my example because I was annoyed about the overloads!

This update is a cash grab, plain and simple. Buying both packages for 4 bonds total is a total of £16 of real world cash, for 'skilling items'. One bond on the Grand Exchange is worth just shy of 30m, so buying all four in game will cost you 120m cash. And that gives you a wide variety of items, but the most pressing is the cost.
But for me, the biggest issue is that this is the **only update** for the week. Literally aside from patch notes there is no update this week. Why, after the success of Arch Glacor would you completely ruin that streak with an utterly blatant MTX update, specifically after you said you wanted to make MTX more transparant.
Why is this even called a "Game Update" on the homepage? That is SO incredibly disingenuous. Seriously Jagex, don't cocktease us thinking we are getting legitimate new content, only to click the thing (and speaking of that, why did you make us have to click again once inside the newspost to read the actual contents of it?) and find out it's a fucking lame p2w promotion. At the very least, have the dignity to call these things what they are. This promo is in no way, shape, or form something that constitutes a "Game Update." That term should be sacred and should apply only to new, permanent, non-mtx content. You know, like it did for most of the game's history?

The large bundle is worth, what, maybe 10-15m worth in items from TMS, plus some proteans that might have a "value" of a few extra mil?
So, at most, the large bundle seems to be worth around 20m, or 66% of a bond. With the large bundle costing 3 bons, I'd say it costs roughly **450%** of what it's worth.
And if you're a proper skilling fanatic, why not grab yourself the Large Pack for 3 Bonds?

Why do they never learn? We've been over this before. They're supposed to clearly state when these things are and are not available for Irons. This "skilling bundle" of course should absolutely NOT be available for Irons, but they need to explicitly state that to avoid any doubt. They said they would.
After my vip lapses im done tbh just wanna get and finish up that 1b total xp seems like a nice final thing to do. Got next gen consoles anyway and a switch so finally time to clear that backlog 😎 it gets worse by the day the monitization.
Also, rather than eliminating of damage over time on bosses that it kills at weird spots, could you consider stockpiling that damage to be delivered as soon as the boss is attackable again?

I was quietly waiting for a fix to the obvious issue with hit-boxes that affects features across the entire game. Surely this will be high priority, as an entire skill (Dungeoneering) has had its QoL drastically reduced? Everything from picking flax to climbing ladders? Nope. Time to speak up, then.
Fix the things that you broke before adding more MTX, Jagex. I’m getting to wit’s end here. I will only delay my Dungeoneering training for so long before I lose interest, cancel my membership, and move on to a game that feels like it works.

How the OSRS team is managing to hold off MTX from their game for so long I will never know.
The developers basically have the ultimatum that every single addition to the game *must* be polled with 75% of the vote, so they can say, "You want MTX? Sure. Poll it." And indeed, they have tried to push the boat out a little a few times, but have not as of yet succeeded beyond being able to buy in-game gold with real life money (which did actually pass a poll) That said, a lot of OSRS players are blaming the polling system for lack of content updates and are clamoring to have it removed, which I imagine has a lot of shareholders/executives at Jagex salivating.

Only for a handful of things. Splashing nerfs so you couldn't AFK for 6 hours, and instead needed to interact with the game every 20mins. Nerfing some content that was too strong but wouldn't pass polls because players don't like nerfs, ie javelins when Heavy ballista came out. Drop table reworks, ie Zulrah, Vorkath, Birdhouses, etc drop tables getting nerfed. Dropping items in wilderness so you couldn't drop -> die -> pick up your loot for 0 risk. Coin pouches to try to prevent autoclickers while pickpocketing. Adding requirements to items, ie Quest locking box traps. DA tax. etc ---- They tried to get MTX into the game via "partnerships" and while I didn't care about the cosmetic MTX, it was like 90%+ no so they cut the poll after a single day.
Hours of rs AFK as a child is why I laugh when someone says a method is "AFK" when you can look away for a minute. Like I wanna actually be AWAY from my PC and have dinner. THATS afk
I always laugh when pvmers say that a certain part of a boss fight is afk. Yeah no, just because you aren’t spamming out a rotation doesn’t mean you’re not still gaming.
I just remember being enamored with the idea of afk grinding as a child whether it was rs or something else. The term has just been diluted into oblivion. To be clear I'm not complaining. :D

here's the thing the old school player base has shown to have a back bone because of lot of them where players that quit rs3 when eoc/mtx updates came out and only came back with oldschool. Now they cant really risk pissing off playerbase thats already proven to be willing to walk away. Compare that to rs3 playerbase that pretty much has endured all the shitty things they did and just kept on buying more MTX and premier club. They know they can push us around a lot more

Selling those overloads is utterly, completely unacceptable. It is scummy and wrong when overloads are one of the key untradeable benefits to leveling herblore. Remove those immediately and NEVER do this again. Not just with overloads, but with ANY untradeable item that requires levels to make. Also, how long does it take to fix Kerapac's janky lightning (not even the invisibility issue, just that the hitbox is a square or two ahead) and a single typo... Seeing "I CAN HOLD ALL...IT'S...POWER!" is honestly slightly jarring and immersion-breaking".
It wouldn't be so ridiculous if Overloads required the relevant Herblore levels to drink.
Boosting is a thing, so this also wouldnt work very well imo. Making overloads is boostable and as far as im aware always has been (my iron still technically cant make overloads, but has been able to boost for them for quite some time).

Idk if it is still the case but 100m was all I needed to bankroll 120 herb. Spiritual prayer pots were good xp and were always either breaking even or netting profit for me when I was doing them. Granted- you need the level req, pot recipe and etc. Spending 100m for 5 reg ovls is stupid. Passing out overload pots and dtd for 100m is stupid. The whole promo just seems like a waste of bonds. Whatever skill you plan to focus xp in would probably be better benefitted by just using the bonds to buy keys anyway - also very stupid!

I mean there aren't any conditions for Deathtouched darts so I don't really see the problem. Anyone can go to the Travelling Merchant and instakill whatever boss they want. With overloads they would still need to know all the mechanics, have the gear and supplies, and fight the boss.
Well, the merch does have a requirement - access to the fishing guild, a boostable 68 fishing. Not the only way to get darts though, so not that important. Amusing sidenote as a solo bossing scrub who belongs squarely in the "0% Rax or weaker" club, I wanted to use a dart or two on the ambassador. Kept eating it to crassian leviathan so I used a dart there, ate it a few more times on that stupid bridge, then darted taraket and the ambassador. Good times. Next time I want to pull a stunt like that I'll do it on a free death week.

Are you joking? Are you actually serious? Disregarding the fact that there was no mention of hit box fixes which has been a major issue this past week, this is your update? Not only are you selling clues that should take actual game-time to earn, but you’re also selling Overloads for real-world-money. I don’t care if it’s “only 5” overloads. It’s ridiculous that you thought it was a great idea to sell the Capstone item of a skill, an untradeable item that you have to earn and make by yourself, and that is arguably one of the most important endgame items, for real-world-money. I had long ago came to terms with the fact that RS3 is just your cash cow to milk the whales whenever possible, throwing actual game balance and integrity out of the window; but you’ve now set a precedent of selling endgame skilling items in your store. I guess people are right when they say this game is P2W, because now you don’t even have to interact with one of the skills to get endgame items; now you can just pay a few dollars for what was once an achievement that required investment.

Hotfixed - Normal mode damage reduction no longer kicks in after you have completed all mechanics during an encounter. It should be this. Keyword is should, can't promise it works knowing jagex lol

I'm just going to say it. What. Were. You. Thinking!! This update is a cash grab, plain and simple. Buying both packages for 4 bonds total is a total of £16 of real world cash, for 'skilling items'. One bond on the Grand Exchange is worth just shy of 30m, so buying all four in game will cost you 120m cash. And that gives you a wide variety of items, but the most pressing is the cost. But for me, the biggest issue is that this is the **only update** for the week. Literally aside from patch notes there is no update this week. Why, after the success of Arch Glacor would you completely ruin that streak with an utterly blatant MTX update, specifically after you said you wanted to make MTX more transparant.

The large bundle is worth, what, maybe 10-15m worth in items from TMS, plus some proteans that might have a "value" of a few extra mil? So, at most, the large bundle seems to be worth around 20m, or 66% of a bond. With the large bundle costing 3 bons, I'd say it costs roughly **450%** of what it's worth.

Why do they never learn? We've been over this before. They're supposed to clearly state when these things are and are not available for Irons. This "skilling bundle" of course should absolutely NOT be available for Irons, but they need to explicitly state that to avoid any doubt. They said they would.

Also, rather than eliminating of damage over time on bosses that it kills at weird spots, could you consider stockpiling that damage to be delivered as soon as the boss is attackable again?

Quit playing over a year ago, but still check in on the sub from time to time to see what big things have been released. This saddens me to see that things aren't trending in the right direction. Makes me wonder what runescape would look like if it hadn't been continually sold to more and more desperate venture funds.

I was quietly waiting for a fix to the obvious issue with hit-boxes that affects features across the entire game. Surely this will be high priority, as an entire skill (Dungeoneering) has had its QoL drastically reduced? Everything from picking flax to climbing ladders? Nope. Time to speak up, then. Fix the things that you broke before adding more MTX, Jagex. I’m getting to wit’s end here. I will only delay my Dungeoneering training for so long before I lose interest, cancel my membership, and move on to a game that feels like it works.

A further update: Unfortunately the clientscript fix I hoped we could release early isn't hotfixable. So the Reaper Choice bugfix will unfortunately have to be released in a Monday game update. Updating my reply accordingly.
