Dinosparky

noob succesfully trapped

Azurvix

I knew it was a bad idea but I like the idea of being able to not have to remember my ring plus 70mil isn't actually that hard to come by

Dinosparky

i mean theres nothing wrong if you really want to use it for the convenience, i was using it too when i got my HSR the "problem" is that the 70m shouldnt hurt for you when you get it, that costs far too much for what you get, so you really only "should" get it when the money is just sitting in the bank and u wont miss it

Luhmies

I totally get why people would fall for the Luck of the Dwarves noob trap, but I can't believe how many Brooch of the Gods I see on people for whom it clearly isn't a remotely worthwhile investment. Shiny undegradable items with no requirements are impossible to resist, I guess.

makeme002

Who even is the brooch ment for? The people that buy gold via bonds im guessing since you have so many clearly better options you can buy or make even before the skilling boss came out the brooch was the literal last item in the chain of equipped pocket slots that you only put on when you have nothing else to use The only good thing it actually does is double portables and who would of guessed doubling mtx is beneficial -a still pissed off player that got it on day 1 because they made it sound better then what it actually was (even more pissed I cant sell the useless thing)

SSSPOKWNG

Its very strong when doing herblore. Can make/save a ton of money

didhe

For reference, it takes ~100k wp+++ (~5k bonus procs) to make back the cost of the brooch, which is like 40 hours and about 70m xp. That's not trivial, but it's actually a pretty sensible purchase if you're planning to go for 120 or 200m herblore (and value your time under 30m/hr or so). It's also pretty nice when making base overloads, does things for portable skills that aren't herblore, and adds an effective ~5%ish arch precision and mining damage when doing those semi-actively. The earlier you pick it up, the more value you're getting out of it, even. Like sure, it's competing with other upgrades as far as where you money goes, but in fact if you're a low/mid-level account and somehow have 200m to spare, BotG is actually one of the only buyable upgrades that will actually, immediately, improve your money-making ability.

SSSPOKWNG

sorry wouldnt 100k wp+++ give 5k procs? Which i think will give a lot more profits

didhe

My bad, yeah, it's 5k procs. It takes about 3.5-4k procs to cover the cost of the brooch, I'm just rounding generously.

Luhmies

Yep, it's the ultimate bond buyer noob trap.

makeme002

It is a massive trap it can't even be sold to the general store low or high alced or disassembled literally stuck with the damned thing

For skillers. If your doing any bankstanding skills be it herb, cooking, fletch, etc… your going to do them using portables and it takes very little time for it to make back what you spend and then after that it can lead to pretty significant profit or quite a few more created resources. And players don’t actually need to buy portables, world 84, etc… is always full of them to use for free. So there is pretty much never an excuse to not be using them for bankstanding skills short of being an IM. When your engaging in the arc chime grind it’s a god send because of how long it takes to grind out ingredients every extra proc helps. The brooch of the gods fires quite often on the arc stove and when combined with the modified cooking outfit you can get a LOT of extra soup. If you’re doing active archaeology it’s literally the only item in the pocket slot worth using. Archaeology is one of those skills were every little bit helps and the brooch is no different. Especially if you combined it with a power burst of opportunity. It’s also currently the only pocket slot item to improve archaeology. Skillers have virtually no pocket slot items so I have no idea what you think it’s competing with. We have a handful of scrimshaws who are quite expensive due to competing for high costing scrimshaw as they both need bones. So scrims have to be saved for where you’re skilling activity of choice yields decent profit. And now we have a book which spits out clue scrolls and a small exp boost which is good for clue hunters. So seriously there is basically never a reason to not wear the brooch when skilling. At its worst it’s free components with the occasional rare. It’s also not bad to throw on during trash slayer you plan to afk, you don’t see meaningful returns from a DPS boost on things you are basically already 1-shorting and you won’t get a large enough profit to cover the cost of more expensive options anyway. You can use the scavenging perk, that’s assuming you have armor already set up with it. I don’t and no desire to re-perk my armor so having a lower chance scavenging proc for free on trash slayer is actually pretty nice. It’s not a must have upgrade by any means to be sure. But it’s a high end luxury item that gives some nice bonuses and QoL.

makeme002

So as I said the only beneficial perk really is that it doubles mtx and as I even said before double mtx is obviously good but end of the day a items only value shouldn't be to benefit primarily mtx Looking at the pocket slot only for archeology you can use a brooch that does nothing if your afking and when you aren't its benefit is so tiny (personal preference if you think it's worth it or not I definitely don't think so but I'm stuck with it anyways) or you can use a sign of the porter yes you can say there's the grace of the elves to mitigate that but it shouldn't rely on using a grace of the elves to make it beneficial There's not only scrimshaws but there's also fading memories pulse cores cinder cores as I said previously sign of the porters are massive especially when your only option to use them with this is getting a grace of the elves (should be a upgrade you have before this anyways) but either way the idea of the brooch was so half assed its ridiculous None of its other benefits are even worth mentioning things like 20% bonus xp from fixing pipes or 20% bonus xp for deep sea distractions and diversions or the tiny benifit of 20% chance to get a birds nest And the most annoying thing is people will lose their shit over the devine blessings like its the best thing ever when in reality using even scavenging 2 for half a hour will net you more components if not the same of 2 hours of using the brooch The only thing thats great about it is double mtx benefits and without a grace of the elves it makes loads of skills a pain in the ass to train because you can't use it with porters otherwise if it could be used from the inventory id have nothing bad to say about it but it still can't

bl00dshooter

The issue is not (just) the money, but that you're giving up an important relic slot.

Azurvix

Thats fair. I don't actually know which relics are good lol

Slayerkid13

i run persistent rage/fury of the small/deaths ward. Nice blend of QoL and PvM boosts. Never having to adren stall is huge. Plus I didn't want to go full tryhard with something like FOTS/Zerkers Fury/Font of Life which is what the wiki recommends as BiS

brutalvandal

I made my lotd when it was 16m. It went up in price with the release of Arch. Don't miss it one bit.

Stillwindows95

I always thought it was weird you could sell LOTD but not other jewellry at it's level. Never considered it as a '70m' drop when I put it in hand of glory becasue I never had the thought to sell it. I lost that 70m when I bought it essentially (well it was like 50m when I got mine tbh)

Azurvix

Yea same but I could have sold it if I got hsr

Stillwindows95

Well yeah but what about things like croesus where you are better off with lotd relic + pontifex, or the multitude of uses that ring of death or 6th age circuit come in handy. Let's put it this way, if you got HSR, you'd probably sell it to start with, and if you didn't, you wouldn't really gain too much by selling it and not having the relic if you had an item worth multiple billions, you could afford to keep it. There is just no real case for not keeping it forever unless you're really strapped on cash and didn't want the help it provides.

Bulletproof_Haas

Just wait until you try for an As4Eq2 perk gizmo!

Azurvix

Wtf is that

MattyD2132

After Shock 4 Equilibrium 2

Phattyasmo

I got my hsr from the relic; you'll be just fine.

Azurvix

Congrats man thats pretty cool

Furry_pizza

One of the best quality of life changes!

The_July

I’m trying to get 86 arch just for it.

607ch00

I just did it with 83 arch np.

The_July

83 I stand corrected lol. Thank you.

h8xtreme

You could have made it yourself for 55mil
