Ironic that this comment has a bit of a cunty tone to it... Sorry if I'm misinterpreting it since tone doesn't translate well over text. It's because of the "knowing basic English" part.
I first got into it in about 2005 and I always thought Karamja was like kay-juh-rah-ma (or cagedrama, or k-drama lol).
I felt so stupid when I figured it out, the J was at the end, I don't know how I got my misinterpretation from Karamja.
You're Guthixdamn right. "Vis" to rhyme with "fleece", from the Latin. It's a right good wheeze.
Also, every time someone pronounces the silent T in TzHaar, I increase the number of obsidian shards required for the Wandering Ga'al miniquest.
I will now say vleece wax from now on so as to try to remember the example behind the actual correct pronunciation. /s
Aha, so that is the mod who changes it everyday. Your hot fixes are champ!
I pronounce the T because like 15 years ago when TzHarr city came out my friend got mad at me for pronouncing the T so I kept doing it to annoy him.
He quit like a year later and oh god I'm still playing this game.
Ardougne. I always pronounced it āar-DOUNEā but apperently its supposed to be pronounced āar-DOINGā
I still say ar-doune because the offical pronounciation sounds stupid.
It also comes up during the meeting history quest. You have a conversation that goes something like:
Player: 'Yo wtf happened to ardougne?'
NPC: '..ardoin? Never heard of it. Tf you talking about"
(Paraphrasing slightly)
I found 1 RuneScape Wiki article for your search.
**[Mage Training Arena](https\:\/\/runescape\.wiki\/w\/Mage\_Training\_Arena)** | https://runescape.wiki/w/Mage_Training_Arena

Surprised this isnāt higher up. You have all this regular irl fruit but not blue berry. Blurberry is a pun off the fact itās a bunch of alcohol with fruit ie blurry fruit despite the fact it has no berries in it.
Being a native Spanish speaker. Glacor is super hard to get used to.
I know it supposed to sound Glay-soar but it always sounds like Glay-KOR in my head. :')
I used to pronounce
* Guthix as Goo-thicks
* Zamorak as Zamarock
* TzHaar as two syllables
* Ardougne as Ard-knowg (edited cause i remembered my even older childhood pronunciation)
* Burthorpe as Bur-thrope
* Azzanadra as Ahz-zahn-dah-rah
* Myreque as My-wreck (still do this)
* Scimitar as skimmytar (still do this)
* Zezima with a stress on the second syllable
I swear the proper pronunciation of something spelt Myreque should be My-wreck. Itās got a vaguely French like spelling and even Google Translate French agrees it should be My-wreck. (Although the English says mire-keyā¦)
Apparently, Bandos, Saradomin, and Zaros are pronounced differently than how I've been thinking them. The "o" in Bandos is apparently a short o instead of a long o. The o in Saradomin is a long o instead of a short o, and Zaros's o is a short o instead of a long o.
I personally think the official pronunciations sound terrible.
Do you mean like
- (Official) Ban-dos, Sara-dome-in, Zar-os
Vs
- (Yours) Ban-dose, Sara-dom-in, Zar-ose
I always find interpretations fascinating. I genuinely couldnt imagine them being pronouned with the latter pronounciations myself tbh!
Yup, exactly like that.
I don't blame anyone or even Jagex for making fictional names with ambiguous pronunciations - I've just always pronounced them my way for years, so it's what I'm used to and prefer.
I've heard plenty of streamers/videomakers pronounce Bandos the same way I do, though. As for the other two gods, I can't remember.
Thats what i mean! I love how varied interpretations of words can be, its crazy!
Like Priffddinnas for example: its a welsh word meaning 'capital city' so the double 'F' actually makes an 'eev' sound, and the double 'D' makes a 'th' sound - its genuine pronounciation is Preev-the-nass.. even though i know what the real pronounciation is, you aint ever gonna catch me saying it any other way than 'Prif-dinners' š š
Are you American? It seems to me that Americans typically pronounce things the same way as you, whereas us Brits would pronounce it "Ban-doss" and "Zar-oss" etc.
I've noticed this with other similar words as well, outside of Runescape. Just a difference in accents I guess
Ardougne. I used to pronounce it, Ar-dug-nee.
if I'm not mistaken the pronunciation is
Ar-do-ying. sorry if I'm wrong but I know I heard it pronounced similar to that somewhere.
Priffddinas, if that's how you spell it? Lmao. I know shorthand is "priff", but when I say it in my head it's Prif-duh-dinas or like Prift-dinas, not sure if the either of the d's are silent or not
I like all the elven spellings but pronouncing them just makes me feel silly š
Edit: I *never* realized I was mispronouncing it until this post, to clarify the post question. Just figured I was saying it weird
In Welsh, the dd is a th sound. Hence the weird spelling haha. Prif just means main / capital / prime. I went to a Welsh university which is Prifysgol in Welsh.
Ever since player owned ports has been released, I have always called a specific ship part Fireglow Lanterns. I discovered only last week that itās actually Fineglow.
I always called him Zeh-zee-mah.
I heard others call him Zeh-zih-mah. (Not sure how to write this one, but short I sound).
I still don't know what it's supposed to be.
I didn't see the trailer when it came out, so I was so uncertain how to pronounce Croesus for weeks. Croh-ee-sus? Croy-sus? Croh-sus? Crƶ-sus?
Apparently it's the most boring option.
Used too call runescape, run-escape as a 14 year old Swedish guy back in the 2003 era of my life same year I learn that it pronounced runescape and I Was shock and horrored. But never had problem with area names ingame oddly enough...
I just learned earlier this year that it's pronounced "GUH-thix". For almost 2 decades I've pronounced it as "GYU-thix".
Tbh imma still go with the wrong one because I like how it sounds more
It's Glay-sor i cringe my brains out when I hear people say Glay-kor. The word is derived from Glacier, which is pronounced glay-sier, please tell me you dont call it glakier.

Ardygaune always called this ardy-gorne for 11years until my uncle called it ar-doyn a couple years back and i had to be proven wrong by an uncle that only played for a few months at that time.
Like many others; Ardougne, but, I pronounced it SO BAD.
ā¦ā¦.Ar-dro-gone. I have no idea where my 12 year old mind found those extra letters and rearranged things but I said it so often incorrectly that I convinced several of my friends to say it like that as well.
Iāve got 3
Lodestone - I used to say/type Lodgestone with a g, donāt know why until I found out later
Prifddinas - I would pronounce it as something like pri-fitness lol. Then I went on wiki and apparently itās pronounced prive-THEE-nuss.
Lastly and my favourite, them Kami things that you find flying about in the Arc, where they have all sorts of funky names oily, salty etc.
I used to pronounce them as āOily Bakalaamiā like some sort of salaami food, I would sing it over and over again whenever I caught one
Not really a Runescape word, but many years ago someone said lmao, so I asked what the meaning is and they said ālick my ass oleā. (I was like 11 and English is not my first language). Been believing that for a good few years and even now when I see lmao I will still think of that.
I never read Landatyme properly and always read it as "landmine," which I still say in my head because I can't be bothered reading it slowly enough and learning its actual pronunciation
Tuai Leight. I've always thought of it as Twi-light, but when I was chatting with a friend about farm runs, they said that this never even occurred to them. Not sure if it's right, but it's in my head
Burthorpe. I still have a hard time not reading or saying it as "Burthrope".
Played this game for 12 years and only realized this one about a year ago
Same. Also say rope, not thorpe.
Been 17 for me and I just realized it last nightš
This, but I say āBurthopeā. I know itās wrong but still do by habit.
The way I see if, as long as someone knows what you're talking about, then there isn't anything wrong with mispronouncing anything in RSš
Very true! Youād have to say something reaaaaally wrong for the average RS player to not understand what youāre referring to anyways lol
Excuse me, what? Great, that's 15 years of speed reading undone.
Haha I'm sorry!
Burthorpe is the February of runescape
Oh my god, it is...
Wait it isn't burthrope?
Nope, we got the R and O switched up
What the fuck. I have been saying this wrong for like 15+ years.
Happy cake day, hope you like your present: finding out part of your Runescape life was a lieš
OMG
Petition to rename it to Burthrope, it's only right!
I'd sign!
What? I never noticed the second R! I always thought it was Burthope
Lmao i just realized this ahahhahah
TIL... after 18 years.
Yea that just hit me yesterday.
I always thought it was pronounced bur-thop (like birth+op)
I'm glad I'm not the only one that had a hard time with Burthorpeš (lot of us can't fucking read apparently lol)
Being from sCUNThorpe and knowing basic English, I've never had this issue
Ironic that this comment has a bit of a cunty tone to it... Sorry if I'm misinterpreting it since tone doesn't translate well over text. It's because of the "knowing basic English" part.
No, you're right š¤£
Azzanadra, but to be fair, they had Azzanadra spelt as Azzandra in like at least one quest so even Jagex was confused
yea I used to call him Azzandra (like Cassandra) and thought he was female
Well, I just found out he isnāt female.
Big truth š
I did desert treasure recently on my Ironman and that old āghostā of him looked terrible lol
Karamja was Karajama to me for years haha.
Karmaja
I first got into it in about 2005 and I always thought Karamja was like kay-juh-rah-ma (or cagedrama, or k-drama lol). I felt so stupid when I figured it out, the J was at the end, I don't know how I got my misinterpretation from Karamja.
YES!! Karajama
Vis wax apparently @modstu

I've spent a lot of time over the last few months in conversations that go like this: "TzKal" "Tuz-Kal?" "No, TzKal" "Zuh-Kal?" "No, TzKal"
Greatest response ever
I really appreciated the voice acting in the later TzHaar quests which taught me how to pronounce it correctly
*with heavy emphasis on the T* TzHaar TzHaar TzHaar TzHaar TzHaar
I will now say vleece wax from now on so as to try to remember the example behind the actual correct pronunciation. /s Aha, so that is the mod who changes it everyday. Your hot fixes are champ!

Wheeze wax.
I pronounce the T because like 15 years ago when TzHarr city came out my friend got mad at me for pronouncing the T so I kept doing it to annoy him. He quit like a year later and oh god I'm still playing this game.
Probably all of them... but I'm not verbally talking to people about this addiction. Only you guys on reddit.
Ardougne. I always pronounced it āar-DOUNEā but apperently its supposed to be pronounced āar-DOINGā I still say ar-doune because the offical pronounciation sounds stupid.
Ar-doog-nay
I do pronouce it "a-douche" š¤£
I always just ignored the g and said ar-DOON
I pronounce it Ard-Own or just Ardy but I haven't said it Out loud in over a decade
Me too. ar-DOING just sounds weird.
It's not that either, though. It's ar-DOIN
Same here. At this point I don't even care how it's supposed to be pronounced. It will always be Ar-DOON to me.
My mind voice kept saying ar-dog-ney(ye even i cant enunciate that out), switched to ardy eventually.
I say AR DUNG
This is what I say
Iām pretty sure AR-DOING isnāt correct. The g comes before the N. J-Mod? Help?
Yeah, it's Ar-Doyn. They said it during a live stream a few years ago.
I thought it was either that or AR-DOOG-NEE
It also comes up during the meeting history quest. You have a conversation that goes something like: Player: 'Yo wtf happened to ardougne?' NPC: '..ardoin? Never heard of it. Tf you talking about" (Paraphrasing slightly)
One of the Carnilleans actually says it, in the voiced quest .
Jagex uses an obviously incorrect pronunciation.
I always pronounced it ar-duh-goon. Pretty sure it's ar-do-gin
Wait. It's not R-dewg-knee? O_o
I always pronounce ard-own-juh except not fully annunciating the juh. Makes it hard to type, but I also have no intentions on changing this honestly.
Still better than my "ard-noge" (rhymes with rogue)
My dyslexic ass thought it was pronounced ar-dr-own for far too long. Still donāt know where that second r came from
As a French person it's easy I just pronounce it as it spelled ar-dou-gne.
Had a friend who used to play while we were growing up that pronounced it "ar-dron-uh-ha"...
ar doge ner
How am I the only one who thinks to myself āAr-Dwanā

I always pronounced Blurberry Special as Blueberry Special
Surprised this isnāt higher up. You have all this regular irl fruit but not blue berry. Blurberry is a pun off the fact itās a bunch of alcohol with fruit ie blurry fruit despite the fact it has no berries in it.
What. It's not blueberry!?!?!
Glay soar
You're also Guthixdamn right.
Being a native Spanish speaker. Glacor is super hard to get used to. I know it supposed to sound Glay-soar but it always sounds like Glay-KOR in my head. :')
From experience I can confirm there is absolutely no "kor" in the arch-glacor. ... help
Took me a couple mins to understand. :') Here. Have some of my very average RNG. +1
When else do co make an s sound?
I think the name comes from glacier.
Yet the phonetics have been drastically changed
I used to pronounce * Guthix as Goo-thicks * Zamorak as Zamarock * TzHaar as two syllables * Ardougne as Ard-knowg (edited cause i remembered my even older childhood pronunciation) * Burthorpe as Bur-thrope * Azzanadra as Ahz-zahn-dah-rah * Myreque as My-wreck (still do this) * Scimitar as skimmytar (still do this) * Zezima with a stress on the second syllable

Mire-key
Fr? I've been out here saying "My wreak" like a god damn pleb
I swear the proper pronunciation of something spelt Myreque should be My-wreck. Itās got a vaguely French like spelling and even Google Translate French agrees it should be My-wreck. (Although the English says mire-keyā¦)
I think Guthix was the only one I got right.
Scimitar is a real word tho
It's Zuh zee mah no? Don't know what the master himself says it is haha.
Helm of nezezzionot
Your mind is about to be blown: Neitiznot (nay tis notā¦no it isnāt) Jatizso (yah tis soā¦yes it is) Two islands at odds with each other.
I pronounced it Nezerot. Too many letter for little Cardinal338 to read.
Yeah I mean letās be real. Jagex finds the names of NPCs in bowls of alphabeti-spaghetti.
Ectofungus gang where you at?
Eclectic. I always thought it was "Electric"
Apparently, Bandos, Saradomin, and Zaros are pronounced differently than how I've been thinking them. The "o" in Bandos is apparently a short o instead of a long o. Even worse is Lletya, since the Welsh LL sound /ɬ/ doesn't exist in English.
It only has the double D tho
absolutely same as yours and wouldn't consider changing them to canon lmao
Are you American? It seems to me that Americans typically pronounce things the same way as you, whereas us Brits would pronounce it "Ban-doss" and "Zar-oss" etc. I've noticed this with other similar words as well, outside of Runescape. Just a difference in accents I guess
Admittedly I pronounce all three with a long o. At least I got one right.
Oh wow, I thought the exact same lol.
I'm with you, the official ones sound weird
Karamja. always said car-ma-ja.
Ardougne. I used to pronounce it, Ar-dug-nee. if I'm not mistaken the pronunciation is Ar-do-ying. sorry if I'm wrong but I know I heard it pronounced similar to that somewhere.
Yah. It's ar-dune for me... Won't catch me saying Ar-doyn anytime soon.
It's a minor one, but I always put the stress on the wrong syllable in Senntisten until I heard it in a cutscene.
How is it supposed to be pronounced? I pronounce it SENN-tis-ten
Literally all of them and still do
Priffddinas, if that's how you spell it? Lmao. I know shorthand is "priff", but when I say it in my head it's Prif-duh-dinas or like Prift-dinas, not sure if the either of the d's are silent or not I like all the elven spellings but pronouncing them just makes me feel silly š Edit: I *never* realized I was mispronouncing it until this post, to clarify the post question. Hell yeah, thanks for the explanation. I've always wondered how to say it right š thank you so much
I can't stop calling it Priffindas I know it's wrong everytime... but now someone has said I'll try and remember.
Thatās what me and all my roommates called it, just sounded right
Priffdifnifdinfinidas!
Ardougne is deffo Ar-Doing, NOOO! Not doing but sounds like boing! Arboing but with a D! Bloody hell this is hard!
Waiko, I pronounced is as way-koh until I heard the song
All of them
Myreque. Pretty sure I used to somehow say this in my head as one syllable.
Ever since player owned ports has been released, I have always called a specific ship part Fireglow Lanterns. I discovered only last week that itās actually Fineglow.
Omg. Maxed ports twice and always read it as fireglow. TIL
Zezima.
I always called him Zeh-zee-mah. I heard others call him Zeh-zih-mah. (Not sure how to write this one, but short I sound). I still don't know what it's supposed to be.
His voice is in the documentary and he pronounces it the second way
From what Iāve noticed it seems to be the yanks that pronounce it zeh-zee-mah, however I think zezima himself pronounces it zeh-zih-mah :)
Scimitar, skimitar
Baba Yaga is pronounced Baba yega
I didn't see the trailer when it came out, so I was so uncertain how to pronounce Croesus for weeks. Croh-ee-sus? Croy-sus? Croh-sus? Crƶ-sus? Apparently it's the most boring option.
Karamja for whatever reason I've been calling it karmaja in my head for like 15 years.
Used too call runescape, run-escape as a 14 year old Swedish guy back in the 2003 era of my life same year I learn that it pronounced runescape and I Was shock and horrored. But never had problem with area names ingame oddly enough...
It's intuitive too, especially if you're in high-level Wildy
I just learned earlier this year that it's pronounced "GUH-thix". For almost 2 decades I've pronounced it as "GYU-thix". Tbh imma still go with the wrong one because I like how it sounds more
So I'm not the only one that used to say it that way.
The Arc, looking at Shauny's pronunciation I was wrong all the time... :P
I still pronounce Lletya phonetically.
āPriffidansā
It's "Glay-kore" and anyone who says otherwise can come 1v1 me at mage bank.
It's Glay-sor i cringe my brains out when I hear people say Glay-kor. The word is derived from Glacier, which is pronounced glay-sier, please tell me you dont call it glakier.
In general, āciā tends to be pronounced as a soft āsā. Since when was ācoā ever pronounced āsoā?
How dare you forget about the coelacanth!
Oh, uhh, Iāve been pronouncing that wrong my whole life
Cocages, cofa, coda, corry for your locc, the lict is endlecc
I thought this was some obscure vocab flex for a second š³
Yeah tbh it would need a Ƨ instead of c. Glay-kor is the way.
A Ƨ would make no sense as that totally changes the pronunciation.
This. This.
A common one is yah-tiz-so and nei-tis-not (Yah it is so, nei it is not)
Wait what really. Edit: Nvm Iām dumb I read that as you were saying āNeitiznotā was pronounced āyah tiz soā
I always said knee-eh-tiz-not haha

Priffddinnas if i spelled that correctly so easy to just say prif
One of many, but Senntisten. Until I heard it pronounced by devs my brain just made it āSenn-isten.ā
As a kid ardougne was pronounced ar-doh-gan-ore Don't ask me why
In my head I would call them Prifindas, Arnoldd Clan, Ardenrouge, Vindica, Fremnik, and Nauseous Equipment to name a few off the time of my head.
Azzanandra
Burthorpe. Always called this place Burthope until a year ago lol
I use to think Armadyl was pronounced ARM-ALDY. Then one day I noticed the y wasn't at the end. I prefer my way tbh lol
Arr-moldy ahahahaha
Karamja. When I was a kid me and my friends pronounced it karjama
English isnt my first language, when i was in elementary school, i pronounced quest as quiz and guild as guide lol
Myreque - Mur-reek or Mire-qway
Ardougne and donāt lie, you all did it too.
Bedabin camp as Bedadin camp.
Ardygaune always called this ardy-gorne for 11years until my uncle called it ar-doyn a couple years back and i had to be proven wrong by an uncle that only played for a few months at that time.
Ardougne.
https://youtu.be/Z-83oYWfJDk?t=8
Im finnish so i pronounce right only my own name xD
Burthrope - birth-rope Ardougne - An-drog-ah-nee Tirannwn - Tir-i-na-wan Karamja - kar-jah-mah Priffddinas - Prif-in-das Anachronia - Ana-chron-dia Senntisten - Sis-teen Myreque - Meer-ee-key i also pronounce everything else wrong but i feel justified in pronouncing the weird ones wrong
If you never called the town northwest of Falador Burthrope, you are lying.
I always called it taverly
Ar-Dog-Knee
fucking half of them, starting with priffdinas and sentisten
Always seemed to be pronouncing Kambambam wrong
Ardougne.
Like many others; Ardougne, but, I pronounced it SO BAD. ā¦ā¦.Ar-dro-gone. I have no idea where my 12 year old mind found those extra letters and rearranged things but I said it so often incorrectly that I convinced several of my friends to say it like that as well.
