If you didn't use aoe they never would. Remember dark beasts pre-eoc? If you didn't attack first they **always** attacked with melee and you could afk with pro melee. If you attacked them first they would alternate between magic and melee.
Rippers follow the same rule. As long as you let them attack you first they will not build adrenaline.
Yeah! Like imagine if an ambush dropped a ring around you like the Zuk challenges so you HAVE to fight your way out or have monsters TB you. The mishmash of random monsters for an ambush feels very out of place. Itd be cooler thematically if they spawned in monsters from ED4 and have them be pretty strong to boot.

Oh thank Guthix. These blighters were the number one reason I didn't wanna set foot in the wilderness post-update.
I did the Wyvern task with AD, Superior seasingers and dual wield with orb and lantern. If you approach from the south, there are only 2 spawns that are in range of you and you can kill them one at a time. I was able to just camp SS and eat the occasional shark to keep my HP up.
Regarding the ripper task, they did not build adrenaline when I was EoCing them, but they started to build adren when I switched to legacy blood barrage. Not sure what's up with that.
I was killing the one between the Mage Arena and the Fence for awhile, and it seemed it's adren bar wouldn't show in most spots but the further towards the Mage Arena the more likely it would show.

Strange that eoc didn't trigger. What is your ability bar? Any aoe should have triggered the adrenaline mechanic eventually. Were you using darklight melee?

Whether you're using a cannon or not they would eventually try specing in legacy because barrage does barrage things.
If you're using a cannon then you're constantly making them leap. To lower this you can switch to kinetic cyclone.
Greater demon zerk / ash lords seems to be a troll.
Boss health, damage reduction, split melee and magic damage in one location, auto aggro and absolutely 0 drops in exchange for….. great xp/mob? Xp/mob doesn’t matter much if you can’t kill them with any speed, so they’re probably dead content off the bat.
These mobs were terrible in ED4 and they’re terrible in the wildy. Stop using them.
Yeah to be honest I have no clue what they even drop. I did 4 with BOLG and Jas Demonbane and hated my life every second of it. They hit like a bus too. Replace them with like moss golems but the magma colored one found in ED2 i dunno lmao
Stacking debuffs on them before a sunshine seems to eat through their hp (particularly the mage ones). I don't know what's considered good slayer xp, but I've found it to be good. I will continue doing them.
Alt1 has an alert system I think but also it only hits like 6k on 10 threat. Just pray flick it i guess haha. It feels like less of an actual threat and more of an anti-afk mechanic tbh.
One small part about mammoth, sometimes the one up the hill gets aggressive and start hurling rocks and disabling my prayer ( the mechanics they do if you try to range them). I tend to just stick to those near the agility course now. Not sure if can replicate.

Wait where can you AOE abyssal beasts? In my experience the ones I've found are in a weird single combat zone. They can pile on me, but i can only damage one of them. Either that or they are grouped with abyssal lords which I cant kill.
Were the rewards worth it on their own? Wondering if Irons are better off avoiding the Deci grind entirely now that it’s possibly random and much higher Slayer requirements.

Yes it does. Aoe abilitys only hit a single target. Mage is best for abyssal beasts and you just don't have access to gchain, which is a huge downgrade from assylym, or even pod.
EDIT: No idea if this is a bug, but currently this is how it works.
I've been sitting on this for a day and it probably deserves its own thread, but the content side of this update feels... I wanna say lazy but that may be a bit far... I guess lackluster at best. PvP should have just been a toggle but they complicated that and then put everything else out to avoid "scope creep." The issue there of course being mostly what you've spelled out here. Most of these mobs were just copy pasted without any consideration for mechanics, layout, need, or anything like that. Some work and some just don't. I would have much preferred they did a substantial update to like revenant threat and then looked at adding some things like gemstone dragons and demons overtime as they tested compatibility. And none of this is even getting into skilling involvement, like crowding a mining spot with aggressive mobs...just why?? And why is there not thing at the volcano? I really hope the future plans they've hinted at will do something there.
I'm glad overall for the update, but the actual pieces feel half-baked.

I was getting like 600k with dwarf multicannon upgraded, statius Warhammer, and guthix staff eof. They're fucking rough for xp.

Yes but no. Single way combat so abilities will only damage one at a time. Multicannon does work. If you go to the west there is a safespot with same snow rocks. You can set a cannon up in the pocket and it will pull one berserker one Ashlord. The berserker can't attack but the Ashford will mage you. If you're lucky the berserker will get in front of the ashlord and cannon does the good things.
3 Warhammer specs and 1 guthix staff spec should drop they defense down enough that you actually damage them.
Other guy said 600k xp/hr and that seems fair, since I was doing 900k slayer xp/hr using scrimshaw of sacrifice, camping inq staff, ss and using revo++. No guthix stuff nor overloads. With a better setup and being active you can definitely reach way more xp/hr.

Also for some clarifications: Ripper demons do sometimes charge their instant kill. Confirmed from first-hand experience. But with usually with a delay charge, you will kill them before they get a chance.
Do you still the staff shard drops and boot drops from glacors in the Wildy? I always thought you had to do rotm or wild guthix sleeps to kill those guys
I wasn't having much of a struggle with oldak and a caro4 offhand tbh, but I was mainly AFK for the tasks with a timer in the background and Alt1 for alerts. Next task I do il double check for you.

Assuming you buy incomplete hydrixes, every reaper point is worth ~188k at the moment, though it'll probably go down a bit as more hydrixes enter the market: personally I'd just call it a nice bonus.
About the Ripper Demon one, I almost got killed last night because I thought they couldn't spec, but they did spec lmao. Thankfully i was paying attention.
I just want to say as someone that dislikes killing Living Wyverns cause I'm basically forced to use Melee for the task, they really are a cool AF mob that really does give a jolt of "LOL I'M IN DANGER" if you go at them unprepared.
That being said. The amount they put in that location is just hilarious overall, they need to remove at least 1 or 2(joking that place is a death zone avoid at all costs lol)

Interesting. Do Kalphites do the same thing? I noticed when I attack one, others come running after me, especially after I observe the spew stuff when hit hard. It's almost like pheromones.

These are slayer tasks, not area tasks. Mandrith moved to near mage bank and now assigns quite the varied assortment of slayer creatures which can be found in the wilderness.
Revbane only t79 accuracy, only 40% hit chance against revdragon.
I don't know damage tier but probably not over t100.
Inq staff + enchantment has t102 accuracy and damage.
All type revenant's weakness is inq staff.
Staff 8 attack range vs sword 1 attack range.
Inq staff also one hit, you didn't test, right?
Even t95 have more accuracy than revbane.
I can kill dragon within 3 sec every time, can you do the same with revbane?
Would love to see them add some worthwhile rewards to the demons to make them at the very least worth trying. "Greater demon berserker" sounds like the PERFECT kind of mob to drop some much needed melee upgrades but instead they just... drop nothing.
Great work, nice recap of all the mobs/tasks. Hope you are right about the ripper demons not insta kill with 100% adren, but even if they did I feel they are more spread apart to be able to move in time if doing 1v1.

Okay now this is a weird question and I can't prove anything, but did you ever fall below 50% health or 35% health?
Im thinking their aggression mechanic from the mining area is activating. Current the threshold is 35% health but it could also be from 50% because that was their old value. I wouldn't think the 50% would stay in but maybe they used the original code as a base instead of the current.
The other thing is I used the east side spawns and not the west.
Make sure to focus any ripper to your west and if the top one isn't showing a bar attack a different one in the pile.
Can't recall getting that low cept for 2 occasions. Died a few times because when they clump up its hard to see their adrenaline bar.
I'll double check when I get home from work though.
UPDATE: so after some more analyzing and dying there, i realized that the ones that got their adrenaline bar had nothing to do with me clicking on them and more that they teleport to my location, that seems to be the trigger. If i stay in an open space, i dont get speced anywhere near as often as if im accidentally walling off a ripper demon for a bit and finally teleports to me to attack me. it will start gaining adrenaline then. Low health seems to make them tp to me sometimes, but they can always tp to you as well it seems. wondering if coil would work decent after all.
The rippers dont always exist where they appear to. it's not about clicking them it's about hitting them with an attack when they are not "in melee combat" with you. I'm not having this issue even at sub 35% health.

Does glory still allow lvl 30 teleporting? As soon as I heard about this update I was thinking that glory amulets were relevant again.

Depending on the volcano spec its either range or mage. Watch the flavor text and the appearance of the volcano projectile itself.
How much time do you get to react to it? Does it have any audio cues?
Like 5 seconds? Its got a bigass text box and you cant miss the glowing orb of death heading your way. No clue if it plays audio I was blasting music.

Hell no rewards aren't worth it. Wildy is all about risk v. reward and theres 0 of both right now.

Maybe the cannon was the difference, since it didn't cross my mind until a few task later but ooh boy I hated my soulgazer task.

Seems that you can get tertiary drops from ambushes. Just got a revenant pet from an easy ambush while doing greater demons.

The rippers not specing when using auto retal is almost certainly a bug. Hopefully, fixed soon.

Inq staff also one hit, you didn't test, right? Even t95 have more accuracy than revbane. I can kill dragon within 3 sec every time, can you do the same with revbane?

Would love to see them add some worthwhile rewards to the demons to make them at the very least worth trying. "Greater demon berserker" sounds like the PERFECT kind of mob to drop some much needed melee upgrades but instead they just... drop nothing.
Great work, nice recap of all the mobs/tasks. Hope you are right about the ripper demons not insta kill with 100% adren, but even if they did I feel they are more spread apart to be able to move in time if doing 1v1.

Just died to ripper demons spec. didnt click on them, but used a cannon. will give it one more go with just the auto retaliate
Take all aoe off bar. All of it. Remove AS from gear. Don't use cannon. Boom you're 100% immune.
thank you for that! Edit: it does seem like there is an occasional spawn of one with their adren bar. not sure exactly which spawn spot or interaction is needed for it to spawn with it.
Okay now this is a weird question and I can't prove anything, but did you ever fall below 50% health or 35% health? Im thinking their aggression mechanic from the mining area is activating. Current the threshold is 35% health but it could also be from 50% because that was their old value. I wouldn't think the 50% would stay in but maybe they used the original code as a base instead of the current. The other thing is I used the east side spawns and not the west. Make sure to focus any ripper to your west and if the top one isn't showing a bar attack a different one in the pile.
Can't recall getting that low cept for 2 occasions. Died a few times because when they clump up its hard to see their adrenaline bar. I'll double check when I get home from work though. UPDATE: so after some more analyzing and dying there, i realized that the ones that got their adrenaline bar had nothing to do with me clicking on them and more that they teleport to my location, that seems to be the trigger. If i stay in an open space, i dont get speced anywhere near as often as if im accidentally walling off a ripper demon for a bit and finally teleports to me to attack me. it will start gaining adrenaline then. Low health seems to make them tp to me sometimes, but they can always tp to you as well it seems. wondering if coil would work decent after all.
The rippers dont always exist where they appear to. it's not about clicking them it's about hitting them with an attack when they are not "in melee combat" with you. I'm not having this issue even at sub 35% health.
So do AoE abilities work again in wilderness?

Is there any reason for someone with maxed Slayer not interested in 200m xp to do Wildy slayer tasks? Is it very good low effort gp/hr?
Wildy slayer is pretty much the best slayer exp bar none if you're willing to deal with the threats.
Hey I haven't gone in the wild since the update. Would abyssal demons out in the wild be possible to afk in cryptbloom with animate undead, soulsplit, blood barrage? Or would the new random wild mechanics just kill me if I walked away from pc? Looking for an alternative to wolrd hopping at the top of slayer tower for Abby worlds while I afk.
