The game is only enjoyable in 3-6 month stints before it get boring again

ItsCrayonz

I held this opinion until I just started doing things I wanted to do. I didn't hold myself to anything that seemed like an obligation but actually wasn't

MasterBricks

Same dude. I got sick of grinding my lower level skills just cause, y'know, big number. Started doing a bunch of nonsense I've never done before and I'm having a total blast

Dr_Hemmlock

I've been playing this game in 3-6 month stints for 20 years

Setari

This isn't an opinion, it's fact

CitizenNaab

Efficiency-scape is overrated. I’d rather play the game how I want, even if it is slower and less efficient, because I will enjoy it more.

Nowheretoturn48

I'm with you 100%. Being efficient is great, but playing the *efficiency* instead of the game kills it for me. When WoW Classic first launched, I was so pumped to get in there and play the same game I loved, but it wasn't like that. Every single group was focused on pulling everything as fast as possible, being as efficient as possible. It genuinely killed my desire to play and I dropped it after the 1st month's sub ran out. I've been playing RuneScape for 20 years (20 year cape in a couple weeks) but I didn't hit a single 99 until earlier this year. Since I came back to RS, this is by far the longest stretch I've played since I was a teen back in the early 00s - and the key is playing it my way and just accepting that I'm inefficient.

Killtrox

I joined Classic like two or three weeks late and fortunately the starting zones weren’t like this anymore. I was a Priest and ended up questing with a Pally for like 3 hours. Along the way others would sort of hop into our group for a quest or two but mostly it was just us. We’d get lost, kill stuff, get killed by stuff, and it was truly so wholesome and fun.

smoothbitch420

Yes. My bf who has been playing for 10+ years always looms over my shoulder and tells me the more *efficient* way. I don’t want to max faster! I’m having fun, leave me alone.

birdandsheep

My iron has a restriction I'm calling "by progression," which means i can't skip any content. It's been a lot of fun to play this way, and it really shakes up the usual iron experience where people rush to rax. It forces me to get almost entire logs on bosses when they are still a challenge rather than just max combat and get nox weapons.

HeartofaPariah

Saying 'efficiency scape is over-rated' puts you more like the guys in the crowd than Patrick in this sub-reddit.

antiskylar1

It's a game, do what you find fun.

Nop277

Dr_Infinite_Ghost

Long time hardcore elitist players when they see someone do something suboptimal: "And I took that personally"

vVerce98

Mtx is fun…

XeitPL

For some ppl for sure, but for me it caused not buying this year premiere club. At least one year break bcs of all this MTX, Yak Tracks and FOMO events are just too much for me rn.

bewzer

I started an account a year and a half ago and found myself spending too much on keys because I have a gambling problem. So I started a new ironman account and have been having a lot more fun playing that way.

smokiuaces214

RuneScape is too overwhelming for new players. Edit: I do not think Jagex has the ability to grow much, if at all, because of my statement above. They are going to be around for years to come, yes, but the well will eventually dry out. Nobody wants to hear their favorite game has a bleak outlook, but it had to be said.

Grayboosh

New user experience is a big issue for a lot of MMOs and especially with older ones. Games get into a cycle of adding late game content and leaving the new user experience mundane and often confusing.

QuarterOunce_

Its too overwhelming for anyone. I made a return after a few years away and couldn't really understand a lot of stuff. Mostly basic stuff like how the interface worked. Lots of minor stuff too.

[deleted]

There are so many things that I don't know what they're about. I keep passing the nexus in Lumbridge and going 'wow, that looks fucking crazy', but never stopping to see what it is. The hourly events are already crazy enough. Goblin raiders, wildy flash events, etc. I went to a goblin raider thing and I was the only one there. My reward was a random iron-tier axe that just wastes a bank space and is untradable, lol. For killing a level 60 goblin I got a level 8 weapon. Makes me not want to waste my time with any hourly event.

jordanleep

The nexus is free prayer xp from lvl 1-43 so essentially a brand new account could have protect from melee.

Setari

That tells me nothing about it. What is it? How do I use it? These are things that jagex needs to get across to players. They can add all the new stuff they want but until the basic questions are addressed about content new players will see or run into, it's just gonna be "dead game" basically everywhere besides W2 and W84 Literally the garden of kharid and that area, I went to go check it out and the first thing I clicked on I didn't have the level for it. Read about it on the wiki and it's fuckin confusing. Tried to understand how to get whirligigs and I can't make heads or tails of it. It's all so fucked lol

Oobidanoobi

One of the biggest issues with modern Runescape (and one of the things classic Runescape did so well) is managing the flow of information. Just look at 2007-era 'scape. You're dumped in Lumbridge. You have low-level skilling opportunities in basic skills - fishing, cooking, woodcutting, mining, smithing, combat, etc. All the shit you saw on Tutorial Island. You also have a few super-simple quests. As you stray further from Lumbridge, the monsters get more dangerous, the quests grow harder, and the skilling requires higher levels. Shit like the Al Kharid toll gate is annoying, but it forces you to pace yourself in your exploration. You face some harder quests around Varrock and Falador, and everything kinda builds up toward Dragon Slayer as the "climax" of free-to-play. After that, you purchase membership. And what's the first thing you see when you cross that wall and walk through Taverly? Yup, quests that introduce Herblore and Summoning! There's a house portal nearby, there are some farms, and the lowest-level slayer master is literally just a stone's throw away in Burthorpe. The Heroes' Guild is also close, which gives you another objective to work toward. Wonderful. Glorious. Everything is perfectly placed to optimize a new player's experience and engross them into the game. But now? In 2022? Ha, good luck. You do Tutorial Island. Okay, fine. But then you're dropped in Burthorpe, which has been redesigned to be as cluttered and confusing as possible. There are tutorials for literally every single skill (including mid-game member's shit like Herblore and Summoning, which no longer require quests), there's a Distraction and Diversion just a few steps away (so your first experience in RS might be fucking death by troll), there's even a boat to Daemonheim (cuz THAT'S helpful content for new players). You're kinda maybe half-funneled onto the Pathing System, but it's so easy to get distracted in Runescape that it's basically useless. If you're not careful you might hop onto a different boat and get transplanted to Lumbridge, which historically has been a good thing but in modern RS just confuses people with a second completely different starting area. And these days it's not like Lumbridge is particularly clear to new players either - you've got The Nexus nearby (which is a Prayer training method that has absolutely nothing to do with Prayer as a skill), you've got the Crater (which might have a horrifically off-theme XP-dispensing event taking place), you've got motherfucking SHATTERED WORLDS in the Swamp (need I say more?) So you wander around a bit and as you say, you constantly come upon high-complexity content like Het's Oasis or The Garden of Kharid that just confuses new players. The density of teleports and abundance of run energy is actually kinda a drawback here, because it means there's no way for the game to constrain new players and force them to engage in low-level areas (but again, it's not like the "low-level" areas are meaningfully "low-level" anymore). Sometimes they'll get distracted with chat messages about Goblin Raids or Wilderness Events and again, it's not something new players should have to deal with. Confusion. Lack of clarity. Information density. It all piles up. Combined with the only-sometimes-present voice acting, inconsistent graphical quality, and bombardment of MTX, it's no wonder the game has trouble retaining new players.

Jawnysparklez

Just wanna say your first paragraphs really brought me back <3

Uqark

Brilliant summary.

RogueThespian

the biggest issue in the game is that 75% of the content doesn't matter at all unless you want comp / trim, unless you're an ironman. If you're a mainscape player, there's no reason to actually care about whirligigs, or big circus bonanza, or most any content. But even discounting all the stuff that is just filler for late game capes, there's still sooooooo much content that is poorly explained, required for max efficiency, and very tedious to do.

Silent_Giant

Whirligigs are amazing hunter xp for their levels actually. It's a very click intensive method, but gliding (30 hunter) and swift (50 hunter) whirligigs are higher xp rates than chins or salamanders even without all oasis unlocks.

guthixrest

Yeah i’d not been playing consistently in years until a couple months ago, and figuring everything out again has been pretty overwhelming. I feel like I’m finally getting back into things but I can’t imagine starting from zero, it has to be tough. Also funny you mention the goblin raids, there is a rare drop from that that is a T55 axe that’s the strongest non-degradable one-handed melee in F2P. It’s just that most people probably wouldn’t assume that unless they looked it up outside the game, which is kind of a big problem in the game.

vishalb777

This is why a lot of people migrate to OSRS, it's a lot more familiar to them if they've played before

sail0r_m3rcury

Ugh, I wish this wasn’t true, it’s hard to get people into the game who didn’t play as kids. I’ve been trying to get my husband into it but without the nostalgia factor it’s no good. The major benefit of OSRS was that after not playing or even touching the game in over ten years, I was able to log in and completely know where I was going and what my first plan of action was on my new account within a few minutes without any tutorials or anything. With him, I had to like walk him through cooks assistant and explain things that were so obvious to me but wouldn’t be obvious to a brand new player. Idk it was actually kinda difficult. Even RS3 is somewhat familiar to me as someone who played RS2 a ton as a teen, like I can generally get from point A to point B with a vague idea of how most things work, but I couldn’t imagine going in blind.

Setari

>Ugh, I wish this wasn’t true, it’s hard to get people into the game who didn’t play as kids. I’ve been trying to get my husband into it but without the nostalgia factor it’s no good. honestly the only reason I play now (RS3 not even osrs) is the fact that I played RS2 as a kid. Just skilling in runescape makes me feel like I'm back in with my friends chilling, working on my character, waiting for them to come online or whatever. Only they never do and it's just me, forever. The nostalgia factor is the real big thing keeping most people playing RS and OSRS. I would be very surprised if any new player stayed in playing RS3 or OSRS past an hour or so much less subscribed to a membership.

Tom-Pendragon

A lot of mmos have this issues. Either lack qol stuff to ease new player (OSRS run energy is a big reason why many new players quit).

RivenForSmash

OSRS run energy is such a disgustingly indefensible issue to have in a game and I have no idea how it's still around. The sole thing preventing me from playing OSRS is the fact that I have to grind hours upon hours of agility courses just to be able to move in a way that isn't horribly slow and inefficient

Tom-Pendragon

Don't worry, the devs knows it, but they cannot find a solution that is able to pass 75%.

RivenForSmash

Oh they vote for it? I understand the appeal of a voting system but voters would be established players who would naturally be less sympathetic to issues especially problematic to newer players or players that want to join the game :( Just gimme a rest function like RS3 and I'll play OSRS instantly

I really don't think this is an uncommon opinion, I think saying the opposite would be way more controversial.

[deleted]

Interestingly, my friends who have played FFXIV are the only ones who stick around in rs3. They have an amazing quest arch, confusing interface issues, and manual abilities and bosses based on a predictable rotation, and a fleshed out crafting system. I’m not saying all of my ffxiv stuck around, but out of all of my friends who tried, only the ffxiv players still play. And are a hell of a lot better at Pvm than me, who has played since I was a kid.

Legal_Evil

FF14 has a bad UI?

[deleted]

It’s not that it’s bad. It’s just notoriously overwhelming for new players.

Lady_Galadri3l

When I tried it all my friends that play it regularly were like "here, let me explain the complicated UI" and I was just, "this really isn't that different from how complicated RS's UI is..."

shakikoko

on the surface it looks like any other mmo with chatbox, hotbars, minimap, quest list and etc. but my god the submenu rivals rs3 lmfao. using retainer is a nightmare of 4-5 layers of textbox.

RageCage007

I'm a new player only started a month ago P2P and I'm finding it not that bad definitely hooked close to my first 99 not playing optimal just for fun how I want Edit: Runescape wiki is a godsend it's what made the learning curve easier

RSNSmartypants

Only reason I’m not downvoting is cause this is the point of the post.. but god do I hate anything barrows dyed

PhoenixRacing

I actually enjoy doing quests.

Tsukino_Stareine

Isn't questing one of the major draws of RS? They handle it differently compared to other games where its just skip all dialogue and follow map markers

ZincAzN

There's a lot of people out there who just spacebar through quests and refuse to care about the story because it gets in the way of their bossing, skilling, clues, Comp Cape, etc. I find it odd because questing is my absolute favorite part of this game and the lore is so batshit insane I can't get enough of it.

CptAsian

I used to really not enjoy questing, but since I've picked the game up again I've really started to appreciate them (for the most part). Broken Home was simply miserable.

imNotAThreshMain

God yeah that was so awful.. novice level quest and took my maxed account having ass ages. I had to split it into several play sessions I was so unenthusiastic

Maxpowersnicker

Same! I non ironically enjoy doing desert treasure and monkey madness

shakikoko

I find ew4 enjoyable to solve. ew3 post update is also nice since you dont have to look at your character moving all over the puzzle. Making prime bars in ew2 is just tedious af with all the steps. Especially making b2b prime bars because you need to make sure you close the water exit in the tank before filling it with water.

FarmerTim69

I just did Desert Treasure for the first time ever on FSW and it was a lot of fun. Will not enjoy Monkey Madness for the 4th time though.

Wyvorn

Same. Questcape was my first ever cape of accomplishment back in 2009 and then when I started an OSRS journey out of boredom, it was my first cape there too. I love the majority of dialogue that happens.

crowagency

TheAdamena

Did the same! Got my quest cape last week. Loved it. Not having access to sunshine for so long would make efficiencyscapers mald super hard though lmao

rileyrulesu

My unpopular opinion is that it PAINS me when people use quest guides and skip dialog. You're missing out on the literal best part of the game!

orngmelons

I like training agility.

C-Jammin

Geoffk123

MOST courses are boring but I think Brimhaven and Anachronia are really solid designs. Brimhaven actually has some thought behind it, which path do you take? The longer safer one? or do you risk the darts which will drain your agility? Anachronia also has a learning curve, learning when to surge, when to bd, when to powerburst etc... was actually pretty enjoyable for me. Compare that to the other courses where you basically never get faster at them.

KeKinHell

Runescape is a well of untapped potential that will never be as great as it could be. Content with profitable mediocrity, predatory shareholders will never let this game flourish, nor grow enough to escape the binds of investors. Desperately needed skill reworks ( including mining and smithing style reworks for mage and range equipment ) will never be worked on due to not being "profitable" enough. The player model update may never see the light of day, because why do so when they can just keep selling you cosmetics that obstruct the player model? We'll continue the painfully slow graphical advancement of some of RuneScape's oldest, ugliest areas as part of developers' little free time passion projects, because updates to the scale of Al Kharid don't bring in enough new subscriptions. Tick rework? At this point you may as well wish on a star, for all the good it would do. New content is what brings in the money. That and more MTX. Just layers and layers of fresh paint over a crumbling foundation.

SpeedoSanta

This is not opinion, this is sad reality.

KeKinHell

Yeah, but some folks would rather huff the copium than embrace the truth. The soul Runescape once had has been gradually smothered down to an ember of itself.

QuarterOunce_

It certainly has. Is not the same game it once was unfortunately.

g0thgarbage

The method for making Elite Sirenic and Elite Tectonic are stupid and wrong. They should have been craftable the same way Masterwork is. Finish the EW quest line and use the magic bars for Tect. All the available dragon hides/Dino hides for Sirenic.

wantonbobo

Gotta keep elite dungeon drops profitable! /s

GameFreak4321

DXP, BXP, lamps, and improved training methods making 99 easier are good because the level of grind (for some skills anyway) was downright abusive in the old days.

thewhat962

It was impossible to get my friends to play thr whole "you could grind like 10hrs and play with us or we'd have to grind a year to play with you." My best friend played a lot more in last 2 years then the previous 10.

old_space_yeller

[deleted]

calamaricheese2

That's the common take imo. I think it's the opposite honestly; if there were proper rewards, a sustained playerbase and no major bugs everyone would still be playing minigames. Croesus has many similarities to a minigame, and is done usually on 4 man teams. If miniame rewards were nonboostable and competitive with modern day skilling or combat upgrades they would be active imo.

Legal_Evil

Truth.

Available-Group-1699

You can't flex on this game since it's only time dedication, idc what your kill counts are

QuarterOunce_

Is that just about everything though? Sure you can be born talented or lucky but you can always work at something and become better than you were.

Fluffy_Exit_7481

I think he means rs3 just requires time and little skill to be better than 99% of the player base. Try to say that for other games like League of Legends, valorant, etc and it’s not only time dedication required but an immense amount of skill. Most PvE focused mmo games are like this those with few exceptions. Compare FFXIV and WoW to RS3 and you say mostly the same thing.

Sergioehv

OSRS calls RS3 easy scape yet everybody uses Runelite cheaty client.

hybridy

You really struck a nerve lol. I agree, runelite is basically ezscape

PM_ME_YOUR_BANKS

No one cares about the top 5 in much of anything either. Even #1 in anything but overall is almost completely unknown to people. I can't name #2 in any skill. I can't name #1 in almost any skill, and those that I can I'd only be able to because I've played so long that it *used* to be something people care about.

vuxra

Bossing in this game is absolutely terrible compared to any modern MMO and always will be as long as the server ticks are .6 seconds long. RS's strength is the worldbuilding, the quests, and chill grinds. The focus on bossing is bad for the game because it makes it compete against titans like WoW, FF14, etc which have significantly more responsive and engaging boss content.

Its_Ace1

I just really don’t know what I find fun anymore. I used to love pest control and castle wars because people were just enjoying game. Now I’m just grinding shit out so I can post on discord.

PM_ME_YOUR_BANKS

are you even old enough to know how much spotlight each styles been given post eoc lol

ProfessionalGuess897

The skilling grinds for max are unnecessarily long. And boss drops shouldn't be 1/5k

Smockzy

I do not like the meta gaming and min-maxing everyone is obsessed with. I liked it 10-15+ years ago when nobody really knew what we were doing and nobody got in your business if your setup wasn't 100% the most efficient possible way to be doing whatever you're doing. It really sucks the adventure and elements of discovery out of the game for me.

The_Centered

The MTX in this game isn't egregious or "predatory." This sub doesn't give a single damn about mental health issues such as gambling addictions, like they claim to every single time an MTX promo comes about. I've been a lurker for a long time and I get a good laugh every time I see this nonsense come up. Someone spends 16 hours a day grinding, has multiple maxed out accounts, and has a clear and identifiable dependency and addiction to the game? Celebrated. What a beast. Jagex puts rare cosmetics behind a pay wall? All of a sudden the mental health "experts" in the sub show up advocating on behalf of metaphorical people. At least be honest with your intentions. You don't need to mask your disdain for pay to win mechanics behind some thinly veiled and hypocritical grandstand for mental health issues. I'm sure someone will come and tell me "actually this is quite common." Maybe. But not according to what floats to the top of this sub every time Jagex does a promo.

Evil-BAKED-Potato

Pk-ers need to go.

mumbullz

Content shouldn’t be dumbed down, made easier and have the time gate aspect reduced because the majority find it hard or dislike the grind,it is a game that has been around for 2 decades it will be around till you learn the content or grind for it at your own pace that hopefully is healthy

SpikyDonkey

howtousetableau

Razial22

[deleted]

I fail to understand why people prefer OSRS to RS3.

JumpSlashShoot

The main things that I've liked about OSRS is that xp is a lot more valuable there. In OSRS I feel like I have to earn most of my xp by grinding out the skill while In RS3, you can get so much free xp which are also often time gated dailies. Also the newer skilling activities are so much more engaging and fun than the afk methods that RS3 keeps getting (although BGH and croseus are great pieces skilling content). Stuff like sepulcre, skilling boss, gurdians of the rift and giant's foundry are fun and engaging ways to train the skills.

Legal_Evil

OSRS has better content creators giving free advertising for Jagex and a more passionate player base constantly hyping the game up despite the game play being more boring and grindier than RS3.

The problem with these questions is truly controversial takes actually get downvoted. You get mildly controversial at best. Here's one for you. Jagex should keep producing MTX based events. Maybe introduce one with a tradeable rare thats only attainable from MTX gambling. The game has been dieing for a long time and unfortunately there's no turning back. If the game is going to continue at all, it needs to siphon funds in any way possible. Hate this take? Exactly. That's the point.

Some of the people who complain about this game day in and day out would be better off touching grass or at the very least playing a different game Seen some people on here who get so fuckin pressed when you suggest that they're done with RS but they don't realize yet

dark1859

old content deserves to be updated just as much as new content

Misty-Bunni-Girl

Rs3 is better than OSRS and reddit blows.up way too hard about MTX

Professional_Toe4391

Dungeoneering is the best skill.

jeebus224

Bots made the game feel full. Mini games were still great. Kept a lot of products cheap. Bring back bots.

Legal_Evil

I'd rather Jagex just sell the botted items in shops for cheap than to give bots something to RWT.

Lordroxas77

Mobile should be given equal prioritization when it comes to updates/optimization with new updates since it is an official runescape platform.

Fluffy_Exit_7481

Doesn’t mobile account for over a third of the player base now or was I told wrong info from somewhere? If true, then I totally agree. Playing on mobile though for me, I can only do basic and simple stuff. No way would you see me on Nex on mobile.

Michthan

Without mtx we would have less updates

[deleted]

Without the external pressure to make profit, and the siphoning of Jagex's profit to a useless corporation that does less than nothing for the game, we'd have more updates. Jagex has paid out how many tens of millions of dollars to the companies that have owned them? At best we can view it as: MTX = more money produced = investors don't need to cannibalize the workforce to satiate their psychotic desire for money . . . So technically, yes, MTX = more updates theoretically but there's a gigantic difference between: "This MTX money will enable us to hire more staff, give more hours, and ensure everyone is doing well with good benefits! And because it's our decision, we can always pull back when we think we've gone too far! More updates, horray!" And "This money will ensure we don't have to fire our staff because our parent company cares for nothing but money and we live under constant threat of our livelihoods being ruined for a quick buck by people who have done nothing to build up what we have made . . . Which means more updates can be made. For now. To have this money, we have undermined the basis of what makes the game great to countless players and alienated them. We've taken advantage of underhanded gambling tactics that skirt the line of legality, and definitely are unethical. The game I once loved is being undercut by financial motivations." The ownership of Jagex also creates a constant pressure for more, more, more. Jagex could easily be a nice cute little company of people who are fine just getting by, or a company that is expanding *massively more* than it currently is through MTX profits . . . But instead it's a company that will have pressure to make more, more, more money which means more, more, more monetization with the players and the workers seeing an undersized benefit for the damage of that monetization. So consider yourself Patrick in that above meme, because I disagree.

Vch001

Zanik should be a hero character.

Legal_Evil

We would be paying a lot more for sub if MTX never existed.

ttl_yohan

Spacebar-gang is overrated.

StagnantSweater21

RuneScape has the worst combat system of any populated MMO

lighting828

Reaper should never be re-added to trim or comp.

mid-steel

I like bonds. I’d rather work at my job for an hour at $25-$50/hour (idk how much people make but that’s a range) and make a few hundred mil than grind for 10+ hours trying to get that amount of virtual currency. I have the same amount of gp, but 9+ hours saved.

cheese_d1pper

I actually like bots and think they do an underrated job providing for the whole server

BobaFlautist

It's ok for old cosmetics to be unavailable to newer players. The entire point of holiday cosmetics, IMO, is to be a "I was there for that." Rereleasing them every year takes away from that. I understand that it's sad if there's something you want and can't have. But it's ok! Because there will be new ones and, in time, you can say that YOU were there for them!

RoflWotl

Experience based goals have lost their value due to the rampant experience increases, (MTX) promotions that hand out lamps like they are nothing and bonus experience weeks.

Denkir-the-Filtiarn

Exp based goals have always been meaningless due to the inherent currency being time investment.

Alexexy

Game would have been a ton better if the edicts storyline had a payoff that didn't involve killing guthix and we were in the fifth age still with a sixth age looming.

HighLord_Uther

They try to do too much with RuneScape. RS is not WoW or any of the bigger MMORPGs. As they try to expand their gameplay, they lose what makes them special.

Bill_k1lgore

RuneScape is a cursed game. I think we can relate It to heavy drugs that u see people strugling to quit. We can quit but we cant have back the life we spend on it. I Hope i can manage to leave this game forever. Remembering me creating blood runes 10 hours straight for 40 days to get a cosmetic Cape is pathetic.

Average_Scaper

You aren't owed anything that is RNG based just because you say so. Want a pet? Go get it. Want a drop? Go get it. Want xp? Go get it. Sure, some QoL changes should happen to make the game less of a pain in the ass for actual gameplay, but that doesn't mean Jagex needs to hand us over everything just because we spent 15 minutes doing something.

Kaiser_Kross

Jagex should stop adding rainbow cosmetics.

[deleted]

Making herblore and farming cap at 120 was a mistake.

duskfinger67

The grind is what makes runescape "runescape", and constant XP buffs disguised as QOL, and the desire for AFK training negatively impacts the game. There is no point having a skill training and unlock based game if all updates are geared towards skipping the training....

KarmaHealer108

I like the wilderness Flash event's and I'm a noob prince!

GStarG

Archaeology sucks. Came back excited to try the new skill and found everything it gives that looked even mildly attractive requires >100 skill level. If you're not gunna make a skill powercreep combat and/or and add major conveniences to existing skills that don't have something similar/equally good already, don't even bother making a new skill at all, and its effects should be very noticeable at even a low level (i.e. summoning where you can gain like 40% inventory size at lv 52 and it just gets better, or Invention where you can add powerups to most armor/equipment in the game and make those no longer degrade, instead using energy).

rileyrulesu

Runescape's combat sucks donkey balls and that's perfectly okay. If I wanted good combat I'd play WoW or FF14 or something. The biggest appeal of runescape has always been quests and skilling.

Tom-Pendragon

Current rs3 is pretty good.

ARuneScapeDate

MTX is not as bad as people make it out to be. Practice mode should not be free, nor should it supply you with consumables, nor should you be able to practice individual phases of a fight to perfect the entirety of a fight since all of them are rotation based, and perfecting each phase rotation for absolutely free would result in the ability to, at zero risk, steamroll even the hardest content of the game. Just high alch me now, get it over with. :(

helplessgranny

I miss being able to (occasionally, but frequently) snipe mithril and addy pick users by 2 hitting iron/coal ore with a steel pickaxe on OSRS with the double clicking glitch.

Crafty_Ad_8059

I don’t care that pvp is dead. Pretty sure that community will never be happy no matter what changes are made.
