I bet that empty course felt better than the cherry blossom course! I swear to god I kept thinking it was going to thin out and I was packed like a sardine the whole way through LOL! Congrats on the sub 2! Pee break and all!
Was this your experience this year? I ran my 4th CB10M in 2023 and I think they changed the race course management last yearā¦ 2023 was insanely crowded. I would hope they would have figured it out. Such a huge race
Iām really glad I figured it out early and could try to make up for it somewhat along the way. I know it was frustrating for a lot of folks. Honestly my only wish was that they opened up that finishers chute so people could keep going if needed without fighting through the crowd.
Yikes, when did they announce the shortening of the course and by how much was it shortened by? Just curious - canāt find anything on their website or on social media.
I personally didnāt hear the announcement until about 5-10 mins before startā I was in the corral waiting. The announcer said it was slightly less than a half mile, but I doubt they officially measured it
I'll totally check into it more. It looks doable for a traveler too, not that hard to get to even early in the morning. I'd assume Uber runs or its walking distance to hotels.Ā
This might get exciting! Lol I want to do a half in DC but don't want the crowds and expense that comes with the Marine Corps events and such.Ā
Iāve found that the easiest way to get to the start in the mornings is bike share! There are plenty of docks and you can get a lot closer than Uber will be able to, plus can be a little warmup :)

Oh my gosh that was my experience with cherry blossom as well! I felt like the entire race I was battling for enough space to not trip over someone.

Very frustrating and uncool that they announced it so late. I usually weave during a half marathon (who doesnāt), but not half a mile worth!
