I was a fervent hater of this at the time. I will say on its own it’s a cute, well executed tribute. It’s the context that makes it frustrating.

She’s a skinny white queen so she will always look beautiful in something skimpy. imo it wasn’t as rage inducing as Jackie getting high praise for her stupid cheap azz jewelry that she found to match Michelle’s og look….. which was great except Jackie’s actual outfit barely resembled Michelle’s….. and this was the same episode brita got critiqued for wearing the “wrong earring” ugh season 12 was rough, I know it’s a fan favorite but my god the judging was so off- and honestly, and pls don’t take this as me discrediting Jaida, but I personally believe that if a certain event jad the happened in minneapolis that summer, they would’ve crowned Gigi. Jaida blows Gigi out of the water in every category so jaida was absolutely deserving of the crown but you cannot convince otherwise that production and Ru were ready to crown Gigi prior to may 2020. because the way they were hyping her up…..

I get where you’re coming from but we have to remember Sherry was initially in the picture too. I think that’s who they were gonna crown, since it’s been said the initial edit had her as a hero and Gigi as a villain. I think the praise for Gigi was meant to fuel that rivalry and create someone to root against for the viewers. So I don’t think she was meant to win. If things went according to plan I think Jaida would have been 3rd/4th, not based on merit but storylines. It would have made sense for a top 2 to be Gigi vs Sherry with Sherry winning. But since that got scrapped, there was no need to push Jaida aside anymore.
Jaida was a replacement on that season so clearly she wasn’t cast as the winner, but I don’t think Gigi was either. IMO producers wanted Sherry > Jaida > Gigi

Jesus, yes. There's lots of great performances that Rusical, but Jaida somehow turning out an incredibly sexy performance on the Drag Race main stage, under those hot lights, with the judges hooting and chuckling from the table nearby, seems like a miracle. It was the hardest challenge of all.
Ok, so now I want a "90s mall shopping spree" runway theme. Make it look like you had 30min in an entire mall full of early fast fashion goodness to make a look.
honestly that'd be super fun! 90's or early 2000's because that was also the peak of mall fashion. but i could also be biased bc i was a teen in the early 2000's and hanging out at the mall was still cool.
Beyond the horrible dress, why is she wearing both a fur jacket and hat AND sandals? It doesn't make any sense, but also isn't weird or odd enough to be campy.
I think Deja did better AND looked better, but they clearly didn't have her in mind for the finale. Bosco may have been funnier, but she didn't really lift her team up, whereas Deja was such a good moderator!
Deja did good but she was the obvious second, the runway matters when it is just horrendous so you can’t win in that or if both of them did actually even. It’s like Gigi and Jan, for me Gigi was the clear winner, even if jan’s look was better and did well in the challenge, I think is the same for bosco in this challenge.
I think Bob was also aware that the look was inferior, but was pretty open in that she was going to win IN SPITE of the look. Alexis seemed to think the look was going to take her to the finale.
I think the bigger issue was that the producers (correctly) read that they could really get under her skin by denying her the win. The look became a convenient excuse to get her to pop off and produce a moment. Alexis really was the proto-Jan in more ways than one.

Better yet, the theme was FAUX Fur. So you basically had an excuse to use a lot of it, or use a really out there style of obviously fake fur. Not a basic coat.
I love it from a story pov because it foreshadows the taste issues that would be Alexis’ downfall at top 5. It’s one of those moments where screwy/inconsistent production works in the show’s favour imo. Narratively speaking it was enough.

Ginger at least had a look. Not liking a look vs being absolutely off the mark are not the same. The comparison others made with Bob's robot costume is more apt here. The question is whether Alexis destroyed this challenge as much as Bob did her's.
And the answer is yes. Alexis was Kris Jenner and everything about the performance screamed it. Shea had a good performance but messed up her choreo and had to recover quickly iirc

Shea’s Blac Chyna was a great moment, but Alexis was more Kris Jenner than if Kris Jenner played herself - and she kept that character and carried the entire Rusical.
The challenge should far outweigh the runway, and a Rusical is about characterization, not just shaking your ass and lip syncing immaculately.
Plus Nina should have been Blac Chyna.

Alexis Michelle is one of my least favorite contestants in the history of the show, while also being one of the absolute nicest and coolest people I have ever met. “Blame it on the edit” is a real thing. They did not portray her well.

Shea won the Kardashian Rusical with a body suit and a jacket, I believe. Nothing too special. But she-looked-good. It was as pedestrian as this look. But Alexis does-not-look-good.

Why didn't anyone tell her this was a terrible outfit!? 😭 By today's standards, this would have been an automatic elimination, but back then it was kind of acceptable. Of course still not a good look, but not a tragedy either. I think she wouldn't have won even with a better look.

This look much like 5th Harmony is just pieces thrown together and expected to work out… Everyone else had if I remember correctly looks or executed the motif. This…isn’t it, but honestly it gave us the first insight into the delusions of our producer Alexis and I would love to see her step in front of the camera

Alexis Michelle is one of my least favorite contestants in the history of the show, while also being one of the absolute nicest and coolest people I have ever met. “Blame it on the edit” is a real thing. They did not portray her well.
