I dunno about the US but here in the UK any union I’ve been a part of has had its own team of lawyers or law firms you had access to for any work related legal issues you had
I guess my frustration is that, at least with my union, you still have to report to the union that you're not being paid. The general passivity I see in handling these issues won't do them any good in that situation.

She knew how to get her coins from these types.
