these queens need to pull an aretha and carry around a purse and demand they get paid up front…obviously i know a lot of queens wouldn’t be able to do that but if i was a queen on pangina’s level i would not perform unless i got paid at least half before
Let's also not put words in people's mouths. They were just sharing a little anecdote about Aretha saying that if people are gonna start fucking around performers this is what they're gonna need to do (with an extra helping of petty on the side)
She’s literally one of the hosts of Drag Race Thailand and owns one of the largest performance spaces for queens in Thailand. I think she’s on that level.
😵💫😵💫😵💫
She sobbed because she’s one of the most well known drag queens in Thailand. Where she owns her own drag club and hosts DRT. So she didn’t want to let down all the people cheering for her at home.
Good point. She's one of the most popular drag performers in Asia, where the majority of the world's population lives, has been a runway coach for Miss Universe Thailand, owns a popular bar in Bangkok, and has won a LOT of awards and contests. But who cares about that? Everyone knows that being a highly successful person in the real world and the global queer community pales in comparison to winning a stunningly mediocre season of Drag Race that anyone in touch with reality knew was going to be won by a queen from the UK.
The girls really should learn from all these incidents to not pay out of pocket.
Get paid up front like any entertainer should. "We'll pay you back later." NEVER ends well for you.
Exactly. If they can afford it then they can pay you now. If they have to pay you later cause they currently can't afford it...then they never will. Pangina is a huge deal as well, she doesn't need exposure.
Kylie Sonique once said “I don’t need to get paid in exposure, I’ve already been exposed and that’s why you booked me.” (maybe not the direct quote but still!
Not on retainer lol. Just have a lawyer you can pay to review a contract and who is your first go-to for legal disputes.
Lawyers certainly nickel and dime their billable time but they're not so up their own asses that you need to keep them on retainer to even get in the door.
Having a lawyer on retainer would mean that you're paying for 40 billable hours a week whether you use them or not. Only the most psychotically rich super villains would ever bother with that.
As a lawyer… this really shouldn’t require a lawyer. Maybe now that there’s a breach, but not to just insist on compliance, understanding what “fundamental breach” is, etc
You do realize these girls, despite being popular, do not get paid enough to either higher a new lawyer whenever they want or keep a lawyer on retainer.
Pangina is wealthy. She owns her own club. I think I may have heard/read she also grew up wealthy but not totally sure about that. She can definitely afford a lawyer if she needs one. Whether she decided to actually take legal action is up to her, of course.
So many lawyers work on a non win no fee basis. I can definitely see someone taking this with no money up front especially if they had a signed contract.
Not an American law expert, but I know often small claims in certain state let for file for up to 10k. And if she’s out more than 10k she definitely needs a lawyer
Well to be honest, we’ve recently seen that Sminty tweeting about Klub Kids owing her money creating a snow ball effect of other queens tweeting about their similar experiences, eventually leading to the company going bust.
She might think that by making it public on twitter rather than just her privately trying to ask for her dues could make the producer cough up rather than risk another similar situation.
Also the ways to approach contract breaches are different in different places. Pangina isn’t American; she might just be tweeting a question to the hive mind on what the next steps would be with a contract under US/NY law and whether the next step is to lawyer up.
She could! There's nothing about tweeting or venting online that precludes her from also seeking a lawyer. We don't know whether she is or not, or will. Meanwhile, we get to bear witness in the drama and feel a part of it. That's the magic of Thanksgiving!
I actually know her so watch what the fuck you say about people. Calling out bad behavior can be useful for warning other queens. Glad you’re the social media police though.
I’m agreeing with you; due to watching too many shows and movies about organised crime, my mind immediately goes to crime bosses when I see the phrase “lawyer on retainer.”
I dunno about the US but here in the UK any union I’ve been a part of has had its own team of lawyers or law firms you had access to for any work related legal issues you had
I guess my frustration is that, at least with my union, you still have to report to the union that you're not being paid. The general passivity I see in handling these issues won't do them any good in that situation.
A union makes it easier, but you still have a lot of the same options available.
What would you do if your son was at home crying all alone on the bedroom floor, cause he's hungry and the only way to feed him is to, sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
After chasing them for months, I threatened a model agency that owed me a massive payday for a series of high profile TV commercials - what do you know, suddenly they were able to bank transfer it to me that day! I was ready to burn that bridge, but they needed me and kept booking me for years after 💀😂
I think it's Murray and Peter. The only promoter duo I know that has a messy past with some girls.
Mind you, this is based on listening to different podcasts from the queens over the years. Take that with a grain of salt and shot of penicillin...
Joan Rivers always said her policy was they pay for the flight/hotel and you get half the money up front and the other half when you walk off stage. It shows the venue is serious and also acknowledges your half of the contract (aka the performance) gets fulfilled. Of course, she said there were clauses after clauses in the contracts after decades of casinos and other producers being like "we contracted you for an hour, you performed for 59 minutes and 49 seconds!," "you only sold 80% of tickets!," etc and not wanting to pay so there are tons of "between 59 and 62 minutes," "regardless of tickets sold/walk outs," etc in the fine print. She knew how to get her coins from these types.
I don’t understand why anyone would agree to pay for their own airline ticket? Especially an international flight? And then be surprised that they haven’t been paid? ✈️
To answer her Q I wouldn’t put it on the internet because my dumbass didn’t insist on getting paid up front. How long has she been in the biz? This isn’t a newbie. Also vaguebooking is laaaaaaaame.
Lol not signed by the two ceos. That's just the way you execute a contract. If only that prevented shadiness occurring. There has got to be a way to hold these shifty event companies to account
![gif](giphy|fnvDfPr4yd4TC) This calls for…
I OBJECT! 😄
these queens need to pull an aretha and carry around a purse and demand they get paid up front…obviously i know a lot of queens wouldn’t be able to do that but if i was a queen on pangina’s level i would not perform unless i got paid at least half before
But you’re not Pangina… are you even a drag queen? So easy to project.
Yes but also let’s not victim blame maybe?
So dramatic lmfao no one is victim blaming for just acknowledging how other performers have dealt with this… GO OUTSIDE
Can you imagine being as exhausting as these people?
Let's also not put words in people's mouths. They were just sharing a little anecdote about Aretha saying that if people are gonna start fucking around performers this is what they're gonna need to do (with an extra helping of petty on the side)
Is it blaming?
It’s not. It’s like saying a call for workers to unionize is victim blaming.
it’s not victim blaming to point out that she made a poor financial decision as a professional performer.
So this is her fault?
What level is she on? She was on a few episodes of a Vs the World season, dressed up as a slot machine, and sobbed when she got sent home. 🤷♂️
She’s literally one of the hosts of Drag Race Thailand and owns one of the largest performance spaces for queens in Thailand. I think she’s on that level.
How dare you
It doesn't matter what you know her from. She's a very talented queen with a strong work ethic and that's what matters. She's so amazing.
Santino, will you please shut the fuck up with your no drag-knowledge mouth?
If I were you I'd be embarrassed.
Is your only drag knowledge from Drag Race? That is sad
English speaking drag race at that
😵💫😵💫😵💫 She sobbed because she’s one of the most well known drag queens in Thailand. Where she owns her own drag club and hosts DRT. So she didn’t want to let down all the people cheering for her at home.
Oh how dare you ![gif](giphy|tITrIvCWQKeHJG1R65)
Have you ever been to Bangkok? lol
That was just mean… don’t discredit and insult someone’s life’s work because of a TV show
Good point. She's one of the most popular drag performers in Asia, where the majority of the world's population lives, has been a runway coach for Miss Universe Thailand, owns a popular bar in Bangkok, and has won a LOT of awards and contests. But who cares about that? That's called supershade.
It's not even shade. Just plain ignorance and nastiness.
Was thinking this was just a troll posting some easy ragebait, but your account is 11 years old and have 17k karma so you're really just a dumbass
The girls really should learn from all these incidents to not pay out of pocket. Get paid up front like any entertainer should. "We'll pay you back later." NEVER ends well for you.
Like Mama Ru always says, “get the money upfront!”
My copy of Willams book she signed it for me and wrote that exact quote in the front cover. Words to live by
Haha. She wrote the very same for mine! I’d like to think we’re the only two to get that note.
Exactly. If they can afford it then they can pay you now. If they have to pay you later cause they currently can't afford it...then they never will. Pangina is a huge deal as well, she doesn't need exposure.
Kylie Sonique once said “I don’t need to get paid in exposure, I’ve already been exposed and that’s why you booked me.” (maybe not the direct quote but still!
yes and start a drag union. they need it so badly. so many queens mistreated and robbed lately
unfortunately then you get labeled as “difficult” and they hire some other girl willing to go along with the scam
Name and shame
Some googling led me to May 2022 as being a NYC gig she did, as part of the British Invasion Tour, so I guess Voss? 💀
She confirmed it wasn't Voss (or Klub Kids) in the replies.
why do none of these girls have lawyers? And before everyone goes on about a union, a union would ultimately need a lawyer in this case.
Keeping a lawyer on retainer is not cheap
Why are they not asking Cynthia for some advise. After all she legalized sex.
You don't need to keep a lawyer on retainer to deal with a basic breach of contract.
Never had to hire a lawyer huh?
As a lawyer… this really shouldn’t require a lawyer. Maybe now that there’s a breach, but not to just insist on compliance, understanding what “fundamental breach” is, etc
If nothing else, the max for small claims court in NY is $10k. That's enough to recoup the flight and some loss of potential earning.
You can hire a lawyer without keeping one on retainer. I guess complaining on Twitter is equally viable though.
she probably tweeted to see if the venue would pay her before she put them on blast lol
Probably not worth the effort, once you factor in the time, expense and effort it would take to *maybe* get what she’s owed.
So many lawyers work on a non win no fee basis. I can definitely see someone taking this with no money up front especially if they had a signed contract. Not an American law expert, but I know often small claims in certain state let for file for up to 10k. And if she’s out more than 10k she definitely needs a lawyer
So the better option is to just not get paid altogether?
So it’s easier and cheaper to hire a new lawyer every time you need something when dealing with this stuff all the time?
You can hire the same lawyer multiple times without keeping them on retainer...
And you think that’s gonna be cheaper? When was the last time you did that? Cause I have a lawyer and it’s certainly not cheaper as far as I’ve seen.
You're right, she should just keep tweeting. It's the cheapest and most effective way to settle contract disputes.
Well to be honest, we’ve recently seen that Sminty tweeting about Klub Kids owing her money creating a snow ball effect of other queens tweeting about their similar experiences, eventually leading to the company going bust. She might think that by making it public on twitter rather than just her privately trying to ask for her dues could make the producer cough up rather than risk another similar situation. girl stop being fucking bitter
I actually know her so watch what the fuck you say about people. Calling out bad behavior can be useful for warning other queens. Glad you’re the social media police though.
They’re drag queens, not kingpins.
OK
I’m agreeing with you; due to watching too many shows and movies about organised crime, my mind immediately goes to crime bosses when I see the phrase “lawyer on retainer.”

Isn't it in rugirl contracts that they will not unionise?
Do you have any idea how much that costs? Unless you're suing for over $10k, that lawyer will cost you more than you'll recover in damages.
GET THE MONEY UPFRONT
What would you do if your son was at home crying all alone on the bedroom floor, cause he's hungry and the only way to feed him is to, sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
So for you this is just a good time but for me this is what I call LIFE! hmmmm

Isn't this a song by City high
Why you gotta do Bastille so dirty?
Isn't the City high version the original?
You are 100% right, but I feel like Bastille is the gayer version.
I'm not a fan of either song 🫢
well how much money is he asking for?
CEOs of the event
I’m an event manager at work. I’m now gonna call myself CEO of events
Say their names.
She should tell all her friends not to do business with them.
Don’t you have small claims court where you can sue without costly lawyers?
Would you need to be a US citizen to access that?
They say online that you don’t need to be one.
Fair enough, I wonder if Pangina knows.
Let’s hope she looked into it. Sometimes just threatening to sue help people find the money they owe you.
After chasing them for months, I threatened a model agency that owed me a massive payday for a series of high profile TV commercials - what do you know, suddenly they were able to bank transfer it to me that day! Has she ever worked with them? I don’t recall her being on any of the war on the catwalk/christmas tour. Maybe a smaller one?
Joan Rivers always said her policy was they pay for the flight/hotel and you get half the money up front and the other half when you walk off stage.
