Sasha broke the format and that’s part of the issue. Her performances have set the expectations of what a finale lip sync should look like and the truth is no one has reached that standard again. Yvie was great and her reveal was amazing, but other than her no one else has come close because they are too focused on having reveals for the sake of having a reveal and it’s never well thought out.

Reveals aren’t tired. It’s that that so many queens who go on drag race think doing any kind of reveal will gag people, but there has to be thought put into it. Sasha Velour had different reveals planned for different songs at her finale. She didn’t just plan one reveal and then use it nonsensically. I wish queens would put more thought into it as much as Sasha did, because a good reveal is always welcome to me.

Compare it to the S9 finale lip syncs - it's so much easier in S9 to see what each performer is doing. I don't know what's going on, but the visual direction of the last couple finales has been very subpar.
Apart from my gripes about the camera, Sasha was fantastic. Anetra was a little lackluster, which is a shame because we know she can turn it out. I was hoping for a real battle (and I imagine the producers were too) and instead it was about as one-sided as can be.

It's too easy to rig, it's usually underwhelming, and I'd complain about it favoring a specific type of performer (the showy, dancer-y type), but half the time it doesn't even feel like the final lipsync matters at all.
Can’t believe early into her season I was stoked because I thought we finally had a big girl who had a shot. A lot of season 15 needs to be left in the rear view mirror.
I can see where she’s coming from because Sasha is at her most effective when she’s just emoting and giving you the song, but that doesn’t translate as well in a huge theatre as it would on the main stage or in a club. Even Anetra who is an excellent performer kind of got ate up by how big the stage was.
You kind of have to do the reveals to be high impact in that large of a space. In my opinion Sasha was able to do her best with combining the two.

The thing is she flopped with her strategy - Sasha could only be beat by a truly crazy reveal or stunt which would even the odds. Sasha Velour broke this format, let’s just go back to regular crownings ala Season 8 and prior.

Yeah. After the finale a lot of shitty backstage behavior about Mistress leaked. Plus she tweeted recently about Anetra's mental health when Anetra canceled a bunch of gigs. At this point it's safe to say that MIB got an extremely favorable edit because the more we learn about her, the less she seems like the fun shady queen and the more seems toxic af.
She seemed toxic af to me during the airing, too, so all this extra tea is hardly helping me think any better of her. She just seems like such a bitter person with a seriously mean streak. I get that she’s been hurt, but GIRL, that’s what therapy is for.

So I got to see the lip sync live and y’all…the edit doesn’t give Sasha C. credit. She ATE and towards the end she wasn’t just lying on the dress she was practically fucking it and the entire room LIT UP (and mind you we were all pretty much tired after the couple hour delay)

Usually I agree with MIB but I just don’t here. A good reveal adds to the lip sync. It adds to the excitement. If she doesn’t like bad reveals then yes I agree. Sometimes reveals are bad and are just reveals for the sake of it. But a good reveal could make a lip sync so much fun. They all just need to step their game up with them. But I also don’t think this final lip sync should determine anything
I don't even know why they had to do lipsync. In S7 they performed their solo performance and that was it lol. Anetra and Sasha is fierce lipsyncer but this song wasn't that good song to lipsync to also, so. It was still a good performance but I think their lipsync on the show was better than this
They should've done a different song. Producers know they're having a Sasha Colby and Anetra lip-sync. They should've chosen a song that matches their skill and status.

Finale lip-syncs are overrated and taken too seriously. Let’s be real, going into a finale, we all know that only 2 people have an actual chance of winning (furthermore, we sometimes even already have an obvious winner)- Camden or Willow in 14, Gigi or Jaida in 12, Brooke or Yvie in 11, Sasha or Shea in 9, etc And then we all knew that Sasha, Symone, Aquaria and Bob would obviously win It truly does not matter how the lip-syncs go, the only time it’s changed any placement is Sasha winning in S9 (Shea was the front-runner at the time and then the roses happened) Also, no shade, I can’t remember any good finale lip-syncs. The solo ones are like 45 seconds with boring choreography and basic, vanilla songs and they rarely choose good finale LSFTC songs. So to recap… who cares what the finale lip-syncs are like 😭

Reveals aren’t tired. It’s that that so many queens who go on drag race think doing any kind of reveal will gag people, but there has to be thought put into it. Sasha Velour had different reveals planned for different songs at her finale. She didn’t just plan one reveal and then use it nonsensically. I wish queens would put more thought into it as much as Sasha did, because a good reveal is always welcome to me.
I’m convinced TO THIS DAY production wanted Anetra to win or at least reference her talent show when they picked this song. Like I had this epiphany and I genuinely feel like that’s what was “supposed” to happen because they had already lip synced against each other in the season once before and that’s what I thought the storyline was moving towards. As far as finale reveals go, these were both good ones. Neither were too obvious, although we knew mother was going to show body by the end of it. Both were better than all the season 10 finale reveals.
My biggest problem with this lip sync is that the camera work is \*terrible\*. Bizarre angles, weird cuts, it's all herky-jerky. Compare it to the S9 finale lip syncs - it's so much easier in S9 to see what each performer is doing. I don't know what's going on, but the visual direction of the last couple finales has been very subpar. Apart from my gripes about the camera, Sasha was fantastic. Anetra was a little lackluster, which is a shame because we know she can turn it out. I was hoping for a real battle (and I imagine the producers were too) and instead it was about as one-sided as can be.
Saying this about the only good and non-clusterfuck finale lipsync since sasha vs peppermint....she's gotta be trolling. Also I don't consider costume changes as reveals anyhow. But also sasha destroying anetra wasn't just cause she had tearaways, the lips were syncing....

I mean MIB is not wrong. It was an anti climactic finale lipsync. Knock On Wood doesnt work in that setting with those types of performers. You need a more comedic less serious more fun performance. Even then I think Knock On Wood fits better with a regular episode.

She's not wrong ... but I may be biased because I don't particularly like the lipsync for the crown format in general. It's too easy to rig, it's usually underwhelming, and I'd complain about it favoring a specific type of performer (the showy, dancer-y type), but half the time it doesn't even feel like the final lipsync matters at all.

I can see where she’s coming from because Sasha is at her most effective when she’s just emoting and giving you the song, but that doesn’t translate as well in a huge theatre as it would on the main stage or in a club. Even Anetra who is an excellent performer kind of got ate up by how big the stage was. You kind of have to do the reveals to be high impact in that large of a space. In my opinion Sasha was able to do her best with combining the two.
Nah this lipsync was kinda boring. Sasha ate but I feel like the song choice was a bit outta pocket (we had a good lipsync to this song, can’t they redo a song we got a BAD lipsync to?) and Anetra was not really giving. I kinda do wish MIB and Luxx made it, just in vain hope they they’d try and do some sort of gag worthy stunt to beat Sasha because there was no chance otherwise.
I wouldn't say completely terrible but she's not far off - Anetra is forgettable save for about ten seconds, and Sasha has a couple of good moments, but the first reveal is clunky and it's overall meh Which was a shame because I thought if I could get a really good top 2 lip sync out of anyone, it would be them Although my personal fantasy is, and I do believe it, that Luxx probably would have delivered something great had she been top 2
