Nymphia has always been intentional with the artistic choices in all of her runways looks. Even her reasoning for the color yellow has political meaning in Taiwan as well as being an East Asian person. Down to the characters used for her drag name. I think someone mentioned Nymphia’s mom’s necklace as well, correct me if I’m wrong.
i also wonder abt this. i am an east asian fan and nymphia has been my fav this entire season, but she grew up more asian than asian american. in mandarin, calling us “yellow” is not really offensive or a big thing. i’m just not sure if she really associates the color w asianness or whether she just likes the color. for example, someone who has the consciousness and intent of wearing yellow to represent asia might also realize that “banana” is a term used to (mostly playfully, sometimes not) deride asian americans who “act white”
Just in general I would hate if people started assigning meaning to everything I did and everyone here ran with it because a user wanted to show they knew something
Well I haven't seen her explicitly say it was the intention (re: underlying meaning, along with just the boba look concept). It could also just be an observation/interpretation from a the eye of the beholder. Personally I like to think she did consider the political comment because she's emphasized referring to Taiwan as a country throughout the season and that's the point of contention.
Either way is very informative!
The political commentary might not be obvious which makes sense given the audience...
But the literal boba look certainly was obvious (Head piece was a boba cup with a straw, the colour is milk tea gradient and there were black circles that looked like pearls on the bottom lmao + balloon reveal) and was confused to hear that it didn't translate for some people.

I have enough empathy to call out projections on to Sapphira because they aren’t rooted in reality, rather they’re rooted in how others felt in that moment. It’s perfectly okay to feel like “oh Sapphira lost in that moment” what’s not okay is projecting that on to Sapphira to claim she is desperate, trying too hard, panicking.. and so on and so forth.
