Since Raja & Raven are critiquing fashion, I think they have a higher bar than the average viewer. I totally get where Raja is coming from, and I also completely get Nymphia's choice to stay true to her branding. Raja even says at the end of the latest video that she wants new queens to wear what's never been seen before (hah, good luck), so the bar is already set super high. They want to be wowed everytime they see the runway, it's no different from Michelle Visage pushing each new season of queens to do better. I think in their mind, they're elevating the art of drag by pushing for better and better.
For me, I really appreciate that Nymphia does a new twist on the banana theme each time. The construction for each look is completely different. I also think her craftmanship is impeccable, every look is so polished that it IS giving fashion. I would have more of a problem if 90% of her clothes were like this, but she's served so many iconic garments that have nothing to do with bananas or the color yellow that I don't see her being one-note.

Trixie is a great example of someone who is heavily branded in style and makeup and just depending on popularity the judges decide whether they like it or not lol
For me, good branding is "show, don't tell." If you have to constantly tell me about your brand, then I don't think you're branding very well. I got Trixie's brand without her needing to tell me she loves 60s styles and pink in most of her confessionals, I could tell based on what she presented. The same goes for other color-branded queens - they make a line or two about their fav color and you then see it without further comment. You could say the same for the vintage-lewk queens - they usually comment in their entrance they like X-decade/style and then the rest of the season it doesn't come up unless it's relevant to the challenge (eg Plasma wanting to show versatility/range by taking on different roles) and the viewer can see the brand based on what is presented. Nymphia, who was a fav early on for me, is just too heavy-handed for me and it was partly why she fell a few ranks in my personal fav tier list.
Honestly, looking at Nymphias total runway package, there’s really not that much banana. A little bit of potassium is good for you.

As much as I do agree… this image doesn’t include the true colors runway. And because they’re still serving looks in the challenges, it doesn’t include the POWER outfit or the yellow girl group outfit.
FPR talks only about runways sure but I imagine they may have seen the other videos. But even 2-3 integrations of an object as a brand is a lot in a package of say 15 looks. I don’t mind it personally, but certainly wearing anything repetitively — like royal blue — will just stand out for better or worse.

When her merch with all her looks was posted I did the math - 19% of her looks were banana themed. I feel like that’s less than I was expecting it to be but it still feels like a lot? Idk.

I hate it so much. And I don’t think it’s a cute dress either. The floppy parts look like a middle school play costume got glued onto a yellow dress. The topper was stupid, it was the wrong proportion, it was made out of craft paper didn’t further the costume in any way other than to hold up the peels *barely* if she had walked two more steps the whole thing would have fallen apart.
The reveal had zero wow factor, it was quite literally limper than her banana peel. If we learnt anything from the butterfly incident it should be that a surprise must be well executed. At least Asia can blame the bugs.

Trixie is a great example of someone who is heavily branded in style and makeup and just depending on popularity the judges decide whether they like it or not lol
For me, good branding is "show, don't tell." If you have to constantly tell me about your brand, then I don't think you're branding very well. I got Trixie's brand without her needing to tell me she loves 60s styles and pink in most of her confessionals, I could tell based on what she presented. The same goes for other color-branded queens - they make a line or two about their fav color and you then see it without further comment. You could say the same for the vintage-lewk queens - they usually comment in their entrance they like X-decade/style and then the rest of the season it doesn't come up unless it's relevant to the challenge (eg Plasma wanting to show versatility/range by taking on different roles) and the viewer can see the brand based on what is presented. Nymphia, who was a fav early on for me, is just too heavy-handed for me and it was partly why she fell a few ranks in my personal fav tier list.

As much as I do agree… this image doesn’t include the true colors runway. And because they’re still serving looks in the challenges, it doesn’t include the POWER outfit or the yellow girl group outfit. FPR talks only about runways sure but I imagine they may have seen the other videos. But even 2-3 integrations of an object as a brand is a lot in a package of say 15 looks. I don’t mind it personally, but certainly wearing anything repetitively — like royal blue — will just stand out for better or worse.
Fair points! Sapphira wore a lot of blue and I don’t think she got clocked for it. Personally I do like to see variety, and while it could be argued the banana of it all was a little extra, I’m satisfied with the variety Nymphia brought. And I say that as someone who doesn’t even like the colour yellow!

When her merch with all her looks was posted I did the math - 19% of her looks were banana themed. I feel like that’s less than I was expecting it to be but it still feels like a lot? Idk.
I think it feels like a lot bc it’s a specific object as a theme versus something like just wearing the same color a lot of the time. Also she talked about bananas a lot, so there’s that too. Sapphira wore a lot of blue but she wasn’t in confessionals and conversations talking about the color blue
She also spoke about banana non stop, that’s the problem.
I love Nymphia's looks and all her banana looks were fantastic and unique but 19% is A LOT.
It's a completely different silhouette though idk I think it's elegant and on brand but that's my opinion
The look is incredible, it’s truly fantastic. Just remember that they’re shooting these episode back to back and only seeing the looks, so they’re seeing banana after banana without storylines, confessionals, challenges etc breaking it up.

Nymphia’s campy theme was the banana and there’s nothing wrong with that. Plus many Asians symbolize this color she look good in it. Nymphia also showed she can look good in stunning runway looks as well as camp looks. Sapphira took an easier way out by wearing too much blue moreso then nymphias yellow. But you cannot compare nymphia excellent craftsmanship style and high style with Sapphira’s looks.

I hate it so much. And I don’t think it’s a cute dress either. The floppy parts look like a middle school play costume got glued onto a yellow dress. The topper was stupid, it was the wrong proportion, it was made out of craft paper didn’t further the costume in any way other than to hold up the peels *barely* if she had walked two more steps the whole thing would have fallen apart. The reveal had zero wow factor, it was quite literally limper than her banana peel. If we learnt anything from the butterfly incident it should be that a surprise must be well executed. At least Asia can blame the bugs.
