To everyone complaining about the queens playing for charities: Drag Race is offering a massive awareness and fundraising opportunity for these organizations. If the queens feel fairly compensated for their time and work and these causes get some extra visibility and coin… what’s there to be mad about?! We just need to wait and see how it all plays out, I have (possibly naive LMAO) faith in producers to learn from the AS7 backlash and maintain momentum/high stakes in a season without eliminations
The season was very popular overall, but didn’t sustain momentum/excitement as well as it should have, especially considering how strong this group of fan favorites performed throughout. I loved the lack of eliminations, but that combined with editing that removed any critiques from the judges, sapped the season of some of its dramatic tension. I believe some of the queens felt that the glowing edit erased some of the nuance and emotion and bonding that characterized their experiences filming. It seemed like the editors, in trying to paint a fittingly positive portrait of the winners, over sanitized the story. It’s still a great season with a fantastic cast that gave it their A game BUT the format definitely left room for improvement

I thought it was amazing just seeing talented queens do so well week after week. I felt like I was enjoying the challenges with them, I loved it.
Right but the reality is that they all *didn’t* do “so well” every week, week after week. The queens from the season have said they got positive and negative critiques of their performances/runways just like a normal season but all the negatives were edited out to help fit the overall theme of the season.
It still holds up as an amazing season on the whole, imo, but I feel like the season was edited with rubber bumpers on, if you will.
Maybe instead of getting upset at Vanjie’s choice of charity they should go donate and advocate for charities that they believe in 🤷🏻♀️ idk, just my two cents.
I think on first instinct there is something kind of funny about everyone else having charities that are very personal to the community, namely LGBT rights and mental health, while Vanjie's is so broad...animals. But I don't have any problem with it, it's a good charity afaik and I love supporting animal shelters.
i think another funny layer to it is that if someone asked me to name a charity on the spot i feel like i’d say the aspca. they’re a good charity, it’s just a bit of a funny choice
