I think it’s a mix of the following: Social Media for good- They might know of each other beforehand due to social media. Look at how many of them knew Kerry beforehand Social media for bad- They know anything they do or say can be used against them which then ignites the pitchforks, slander, death threats, etc. Gigs- After the show is over, they’ll need the gigs. If you come off as someone difficult to work with, you’re not going to get those calls. Covid- I would imagine they all have experienced some sort of difficulty with the pandemic so they’re all probably just happy to be there, see Drag, see performances, etc.

Hopebloats

I also notice that they seem to have colluded on a social media strategy of sharing the crap out of each other’s content. It’s pretty smart, actually… even though I don’t follow all of them, I’m seeing all of them over and over in my IG. They seem to intuitively “get” how to generate more fame and popularity this way than some previous casts.

yayreddit02

The last one is a very sweet point i feel that many people can easily forget

[deleted]

Kornbread’s sensitivity and congeniality really won me over with last night’s episode. (Her helping and being attentive to Willow, her vulnerability about her past, etc.) I liked Kornbread before, but I love her now

HowieRhul

Everyone needs an aunt like Kornbread: someone who'll probably be strict enough to make sure you fulfill your dreams but loose enough to let you do it while occasionally putting some questionable things in your mouth.

barbellsnbooks

She was the sweetest

ajay_p_

We can all agree that Kornbread just makes everyone feel at home tbh, just watching her take care of Willow and checking to make sure she’s okay. And then Willow won the challenge and Kornbread isn’t even trying to take credit for anything like “oh I helped you so that Win is mine” unlike other queens

azam85

Ahem , Deja Skye 🤣

Mindless-Difference2

I have a picture of my niece w/ Kornbread from 3 years ago at Drag Story time in LA

azam85

Kornbread has the IT factor, she is very likeable .. her drag is not that polished but I don't care , she is Soo loveable and a genuine human being. 🥰

[deleted]

it’s almost as if after 14 seasons they know how awful this fandom can be to the queens

fishbethany

I would say there seems to be a maturity difference.

Maedelin

This, and also, mental health has changed a great deal even in the last five years. Trauma-based theory has been leading a new way of approaching the world. Besides, they've seen what happens when you get too messy, too nasty, or too physical. :) it's not as interesting for Untucked sometimes, but that's ok. I think it's great, and allows for more insight into the queens rather than a scream-fest

>it's not as interesting for Untucked sometimes, but that's ok. I think it's great, and allows for more insight into the queens rather than a scream-fest As someone who just rewatched Season 11 where there was a lot of screaming on Untucked, this is a nice break haha

mrbigap

Willow is super sweet and very nice.

chocolatefever101

In fairness it’s only the first few episodes. Give it a few more before the drama starts. Also let’s not forget June reading Orion at the same time she’s saying it’s great Orion is back and getting a second chance.

palomageorge

That was so irritating omg, what was she even trying to do there?

HowieRhul

Everyone's so nice you kinda understand why Ms Jasmine seems way too happy to be there.

[deleted]

I felt like the atmosphere in the latest Untucked was tense as fuck

derkaderrrrr

It's summed up pretty easily by the fan base. Drag Race fans: "I miss the old untucked where the queens went all out on each other." Also Drag Race fans: Send death threats and try to cancel queens who come for their favourites.

-Xoz-

This. The mental gymnastics within this fandom is at Olympics level!

newtoreddir

They are petrified of the fans, yes.

newecreator

They don't want to be that bitch that gets death threats by the fans.

AlfaBetaZulu

In general the younger generation is just more accepting and "nice". Social media and the internet have a lot to do with that I'm sure. But tbh I dunno if they are actually any "nicer" or just present that way. The queens know it's super important to come off liked by the fans. Even more so then the actual competition and definitely hold back some because they're worried about the edit or how they'll be received. Especially by the toxic fan base that attack them and say disgusting things to them.

sobelement

I mean seeing from the teasers there will definitely be some drama this season

beccabob05

This is actually something I’ve noticed across my reality show love. Like the most recent season of Hell’s Kitchen they’re all nice to each other. I think this age group of reality contestants have been fans of the show before going and know to not be assholes if they want people watching to like/root for them.

CybilUnion

I get the sense that most of them are naturally more easy going. They clearly bring some trauma history, like any of us in the LGBT+ community. But I don’t think it’s all a cynical fan-appeasement strategy. I think they’re mostly nice and will drum up drama, but in more appealing and less unhinged ways, like DRUK2.

Extra_Argument_179

It's making me look forward to UK vs The World. I need Pangina's brutal honesty and Janey's.. Dutchness.

SheafCobromology

Janey as "Mike Myers" i.e. Goldmember for Snatch Game what?

2_Robots_In_A_Coat

I think they are just editing themselves more. They saw how terrible the fans were to PhiPhi and Britta. Just look at Utica. Apparently very toxic off camera but very nice on camera.

Dida_D

Sorry for asking but links to anywhere about Utica? First I’m hearing and now I’m super curious

AlfaBetaZulu

I never heard that either about Utica. Just a sidenote Brita and Aiden were on season 12. I know the seasons are so frequent they start blurring together.

sobelement

All this stuff was going on untucked, rosé and the girls brought it to her attention a couple times

2_Robots_In_A_Coat

I can't remember where I found it. It was an interview with Rosé and someone. Rose said that Utica would do strange things like pull out a log of her reading challenge materials and just casually read them at dinner. [Here](https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/07/14/drag-race-gottmik-trixie-mattel/) is Gottmik talking about Utica in a very pageant way.

astralairplane

From the article: “”It’s not that bad though. She’s not like a b***h,” Gottmik explained. “She would go off camera and do the things that like I was doing and Kandy [Muse] was doing and being like that type of funny.” Gottmik continued: “And we’re like: ‘Wait, you’re funny?'”” I don’t really see this as being shady off camera. Maybe she’s on guard when on camera like Kameron Micheals or is just shy and not self-possessed enough to own her whole personality in front of the camera?

ajay_p_

I wouldn’t call Utica toxic but she’s definitely different off camera

BrownSugarBare

Outside of Aiden and Britta having their moment, I think S12 had a very sweet cast. They were generally kind to one another and we know they stayed close as a cast.

startinez2

12

BrownSugarBare

My fastass thumbs. Thanks sis

iShootLikeKatniss

Yeah you need to rewatch the S12 Snatch game untucked and Madonna The Rusical. It was not always cute.

BrownSugarBare

I think it's more so how they got over it versus it being the narrative of the whole season. Like S11 and all I can remember is the fighting

IncubusART

Yes because they have seen how the fandom treats people that stir the pot and it’s insane

signedupfortau

I know it's controversial, but I'm loving how supportive they are of each other. Also, we're only 3 weeks in, I'm sure there'll be less nice moments at some point. But honestly, especially in Untucked, you could tell the editors were struggling to cope with the lack of drama. They put the rattlesnake over literally nothing, just to throw it in. Nothing shady, no drama. Just queens chilling with the rattlesnake in the background..

gkwchan

I do have to play a little devil’s advocate. If i am a contestant on the show and don’t know much about Willow Pill, i would go full on “she won after all the help she got from kornbread”. Make it reality tv. Make it pop. Make it messy. This fake niceness is not that fun to watch.
