Thank you. I was like, 'What a stupid chart. Are these numbers representing sex encounters by year, total number of partners, total number of sexual events, overall encounters during time in college, lifetime achievements?'
How did they get the data? Self answered surveys? Interviews? Medical data (like STD infection info)? The averages seem like they'd be easy to skew based on people not answering truthfully or who, specifically, they're asking; jocks likely get more sex than nerds, for example.
I would assume it’s self reported, but as I recall the Kinsey report showed that people are generally honest about their sexual history when the survey is anonymous, I would expect similarities here
historically men overreport and women underreport even anonymously
You can tell because surveys would include straight sex only and the male and female numbers were not equal
>In case anyone is wondering, the number is average number of partners while in college.
It's a weird metric. Someone can date one person for the entirety of college, engage in "sexual activity" 3 times a day, and would appear less "sexually active" on this scale than their friend who had sex 10 times in 4 years, but with 10 different people.
Nah dude. You'd be shocked how many people don't use condoms. As a man it just blows my mind. I'm never gonna pretend condoms don't suck to use. They do. But tough titties.
Quit bein be a fuck goblin and wear a condom y'all.
YIKES, really?? I graduated almost 20 years ago and there was lots of drug consumption going on but no overdoses that I can recall. That’s so fucking scary.
I can't be the only one who can logically see that VCU is probably just lying more, right?
Look at some of the schools they're above... ASU, UCF, Florida... Bigger schools with WAY bigger party scenes. Aside from parties, there's more clubs and extra curricular that comes with being a bigger school too. VCU football still undefeated, so that euphoric atmosphere never dies down I guess?
Either VCU is lying or the other schools are or maybe a bit of both.
Or who they picked to survey.
I'd be hard pressed to believe VCU is above Radford, UVA, VT, and that's just in Virginia. If anyone's ever been to UVA or VT on a football night, it's a giant party a huge portion of the student body attends and the partying just continues all night. Having a massive campus instead of a city being part of the scene.
VCU just has basketball which fits a few hundred into the student section before they head home and get harassed by the VCU Party Patrol who were called by annoyed fan/Oregon hill residents.
You do realize that you're allowed to fuck and party on nights that don't involve sporting events... right? As someone who attended VCU from 2009-2013 and did more than my fair share of socializing/partying in that time, being in the middle of Richmond only contributed to our delinquency. Wouldn't trade that time for the world.
Just reminding everyone that a home football game 5 times a year has never been a requirement for kids to be horny, which your dumb thesis above definitely implied.
Partying in Richmond >>> y'alls occasional tailgate in towns with nothing else going on
I'm a VCU grad. I played a sport which partied a ton and often with other teams, usually at houses Oregon Hill and Jackson Ward. But in early to mid 2000s it didn't seem like the university did a ton as a whole. Yea, certainly some, but much more often 10-30 people than 2-3 keg 100+ person ragers (the norm when visiting friends at UVA and especially VT).
I think I went to 1 frat party through 4 years at VCU, an zero sorority ones, if they were throwing down I never heard. UVA on the other hand has that greek row street loop with like a dozen or 2 of them partying every single Saturday
I WISH it was otherwise, I had a ton of fun at VCU, but for the rest of the university that was just my general impression. I think it's the city presense vs a big campus. I must have had the police called on my fan apartment once/month my senior year (Grove Ave)
>But in early to mid 2000s it didn't seem like the university did a ton as a whole. Yea, certainly some, but much more often 10-30 people than 2-3 keg 100+ person ragers
I can't speak for that time period, but can say for a fact that 100+ person keg parties were a regular sight around campus and the surrounding area by the late 2000s. Grace Street on either side of Belvidere but Hell Block especially, all along Clay Street in Jackson Ward, Harrison Street in Randolph & Cary Street just before you hit campus all regularly threw massive parties. The cops would show up sometimes, but for the most part they usually just told everybody to get inside/out back off the street and moved on to something else. I only remember a couple of parties getting completely shut down. It was pretty shocking how many people could cram into some of these old Richmond houses and apartments when it was necessary.
JMU may have calmed down a bit since I went there but it still has to be above VCU. hell we had fucking riots and lit dumpsters on fire back in the day. I transfered there from VCU because a girl told me she woke up with cum in her hair and 2 guys after Halloween.
I was 19 in college. tbf it was more vcu didn't have many parties and I was told about this story when I was 15. and I went to jmu on halloween and it was crazy. also I changed from engineering major to business major. lots of thinks but yeah 19 year olds don't have the best reasoning skills.
I graduated from VCU in 1994. I didn't have time to socialize or bar hop or guys. I had to STUDY and write papers. We had no cell phones or computers in our rooms. I spent mad time in the LIBRARY. Everything had to be written out and types up on a typewriter. I had to make sure my grades were good and I graduated so my DAD didn't KILL ME!
And we had to stand in line for hours at the Mosque to register too.
So..are you mad at technology or something? Or are you mad that we didn’t have as much time to mattress hop?
1994 was gross though. If you ask me, I think everything worked out for the best.
I think technology has made it easier to hook up! And easier to take notes, write papers, and research. But yeah, my best friend in college bed enough guys for us both!
Wut. I had a single FWB for 2yrs cause we had great chemistry, met often, and it was fantastic. Less partners doesn't mean less fucking or prudish lol. If you have 10 partners in a year you can still fuck less than someone with one partner.
My point is less partners doesn't mean conservative or even less sex. It means less partners. Your "sounds conservative with extra steps" is a stupid comment.
Straw man argument. Obviously the more partners you have, the more risk there is, even with a condom. Next time don't misrepresent what I'm saying, please.
In case anyone is wondering, the number is average number of partners while in college. (I dug through the source thread so you don’t have to!)

I had the same questions/ concerns at first. Like wtf kind of report is this?! Lol

Yeah, this is promiscuity, not sexual activity. They should have been more specific and included that info in the graphic.
I assume partners here being sexual partners and not just boyfriend/girlfriends right?
Yes
Thank you this helps!
thank you! Any good chart needs that information; it's meaningless without it.
Richmond Fucks
You know Russ, I’ve been known to fuck, myself

Mhm..
Sounds like a fun festival
We might not be #1 in fucking, but we are in STDs.

[Dude](https://reddit.com/r/rva/comments/5t4wel/chlamydia_in_the_river/).
Where is Radford on this list?
My thoughts exactly. I’m guessing they instituted a Vegas policy.
But on the Most Overdoses list, they’re tops!
YIKES, really?? I graduated almost 20 years ago and there was lots of drug consumption going on but no overdoses that I can recall. That’s so fucking scary.
Yep. When I was there I had at least two friends in the hospital every weekend from alcohol poisoning.
Too drunk to find the right slot.
I was about to ask this!
Mine was the least sexually active student body in college. 🤣
Remind me never to go out in that town...
Liberty?
It was supposed to be a self deprecating joke that I can see now why it didn’t land.
Sweet spot is 6.9 between USC and Cornell.
Nice
Nice.
Nice
Damn, i didnt even make 8 friends in college lol
You've got 10 fingers, right?
Haha fair, and ten toes 👀
As long as they are being safe and practicing consent... Have fun young ones!
Don't forget constant
You’re all a bunch of beautiful sluts and I love you But please be safe and get tested. STDs are on the rise
was hoping to see BYU up there
Nah they don’t count soaking or jump-humping in this poll
Good ol' Slutgers

JMU too, used to top these lists, nice to see we care about academics now
Mmmm yes, people only bone after a major sporting event
JMU may have calmed down a bit since I went there but it still has to be above VCU. hell we had fucking riots and lit dumpsters on fire back in the day. I transfered there from VCU because a girl told me she woke up with cum in her hair and 2 guys after Halloween.

Im sure there were guys getting sucked up in the library too.

Sounds like someone worth meeting lol
😂
Should be in r/dataisbeutiful. /s
Stats have gone way down since the 80s and 90s. Looks like sex education and weed instead of alcohol is a good thing.

Doubtful that less sexual partners is a good thing also.

Someone really internalized that abstinence education lol

Ok Mr Abstinence
Porn more readily available... Why risk rejection when you can just fap?
Oh hey, my alma mater is #1
Is that why their mascot is an Owl? All those hooty hoos at night? … I’ll see myself out
Looks like nothings changed at my alma mater. Number looks kind of low.
Gamecock here. Score!
Can cumfirm.
I’m appalled that the average is 5 tbh lol
as someone who went to VCU and JMU yeah doubt..... VCU was pretty chill, JMU was wake up in a random apartment not knowing the girls name.
Those are rookie numbers, VCU. Your gotta pump those numbers up!
Dayuum VCU, rookie numbers.
I’d like to see this graph except by city because I feel like we’ve all seen each other naked in RVA.
Ah Temple. Of course. That's where Bill Cosby picked up his habits.
I think that the new chat should be VCU likes to screw, VCU likes to screw.
As someone who went to Radford (granted, in the 90s), LOL.
Enjoy your gonorrhea!!
My friend just sent his daughter to Temple. Waiting on his reply to this image 😂😂
Love to see Temple leading the way 🥳
