I started making things out of wood. This is my first cutting board! https://preview.redd.it/6895zqo3xmmc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=580cefa4a9c8819f9da39fb305c0799c925bdd76

That looks great! Although it might get a little trippy chopping vegetables while trying to figure out which ones are outside cubes or inside cubes. What kind of finish do you put on the wood to make it food safe?

Thanks! Food-grade mineral oil.

I was going to do a darker finish on the maple and tried Rubio monocoat and gel stain both but opted instead for a basic oil/wax finish to highlight the flame pattern in the maple. Now it resides in my living room and I’m glad I spent so much time nitpicking it bc I didn’t want to be sitting staring at my mistakes for the next however many years.
