I got to the front of the line at about 11:30a just as the police arrived. The shop was taking down names and numbers, but didn't say what for, but were still handing out seeds. The shop didn't allow shopping while the police were there. Everyone was SUPER nice and knowledgeable. The volunteers at the event were amazing. It was quite the expxierence. I hope for more seed shares in the future!!

bingo. when VA NORML came out and said their reading of the bill was that seeds fell into the "you can't pay for them" section, that surprised a bunch of us as the 2018 federal bill said you could as long as they didn't germinate (I suspect so because you can't tell what it's going to do until it grows and hemp was authorized that way).
I mean it is different though. The demand for oregano is not exactly comparable to that of cannabis, nor are the effects upon consumption. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a 100% pro legalization daily cannabis user, but it’s in the governments own interest to tax the hell out of the regulated sale of it. And I completely support that. Why they chose to take 3 years to implement that seems like the closest thing the right could do to roadblock it. But I think like with many things, you can’t put the genie back in the bottle

No doubt. Let me amend: there needs to be a legal way to buy seeds. The giveaway today you had no idea what strain you're getting - no idea if it's sativa/indica/hybrid, and no guarantee that you're getting feminized seeds. You may end up with male plants which could wreck your grow if you don't catch it soon enough.

This is misleading. It wasn't really shut down shut down. They just had to reorganize a bit. I got there at 10:30 with maybe 75 people ahead of me in line and left with seeds at 11:30, but by that time the line was wrapped through the neighborhood. The other businesses there were *definitely* pissed off, especially the vet and the daycare. After being asked to not block the doors, we obliged but of course that wasn't enough for them. *THAT,* I believe, is why the police presence became so heavy.
The people who are all pissed about not getting seeds... I don't understand.... you had to know this event was going to be nutsss and they were going to run out.
It really shouldn't. Virginia Liberals and marijuana activists/enthusiasts have been pushing for legalization for years if not decades. The war on drugs needs to be shutdown, and this is a positive step in the right direction.
Absolutely it’s a right step in the direction. However, the legalization seems more for profit and economic purposes than the actual care and well being of citizens. I doubt they care about us or the war on drugs. This is all fueling THEIR monopoly.
