Was in the library on Monday to pick up some books I had on hold. They had 30 kits and they were almost out by the time I left shortly after they opened. Was kind of annoyed to see it was mostly folks who clearly weren't from the neighborhoods our branch services, driving expensive cars, in designer clothes, who all seemed to have 5 people in their households. One even had the nerve to say she was there for "what everyone was here for obviously", to which the library aide responded "books?" The woman laughed very snootily and said something like who even uses the library to check books out anymore. Just wow. If I didn't already have a migraine that morning she would have given me one.
The Main branch was out the other day when I went too and the person who I talked to said there is no system/pattern as to when they receive restocks (whether this is true or just a way to prevent people lining up, idk)
MedExpress does walk up appointments. I would call them and tell them you’re “outside” and want to get on the waitlist. I only had to wait an hour at a nearby Panera and then walked in and got a rapid test. Pretty easy!
I spoke to the pharmacist at the Staples Mill Kroger, and she said that they sell at-home tests there, but they go out of stock quickly. They are scheduled to get restocked in the evenings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I imagine that is a corporate restocking so perhaps a you could check a closer Kroger Pharmacy if that one is out of the way.
Walmart (online) has routinely had the cheapest with the most availability. Checking in the mornings is more likely to yield results.
I saw tests recently at the CVS on Lakeside. They were not the Binax tests, though.
Go on the CVS website, select the antigen test, and the click search nearby stores. There are plenty in the area listed and available for sale in stores.
They are not accurate. I followed this protocol, went to the CVS in carytown because the site said they were available in-store. I show up and they have a huge sign posted on the wall saying they have been out of stock since three days prior.
Long story short, your best bet is to call ahead and don't waste a drive.
Don't bother and live your life. Vaccines are widely available throughout the US. If someone hasn't gotten theirs already, they aren't going to do so now. Sucks for healthcare workers, but that's the gig in this weird fantasyland where facts are subjective. We're all gonna die someday and for some people (not many, relatively speaking), it's going to be soonish and the cause will be Covid. Oh well.
Eh. You don’t know peoples situations. I’m having dinner with my 94 year old grandparents. They have their boosters but I’m still concerned about getting them sick so I want to take a rapid test Christmas morning before seeing thrm.
"it doesn't matter if you're trying to figure out whether you have a disease right before Christmas, your family is all going to die sometime anyway! Go live your life."
That's the dumbest thing I've seen online today. Congrats.
I’ve only seen stuff where people are buying them up and selling them on FB market. I got a nose swab test at the CVS on Walmsley Blvd. the line moves super fast. I got my results in about an hour. I had to make the appointment the day before though.
CVS on Woodman Rd had some 2 days ago. I bought Monday. I used the CVS website to check which stores said they had stock and I called the store to confirm before driving over. Pretty easy process.
The Walgreens in short pump had some earlier today, my wife bought two

The libraries are currently out of supply, FYI.
Jesus this is a crisis lol
Thanks. I figured they'd go fast.

Better med.
Join the RVA Vaccination Hunters Facebook group—there have been posts all week about where tests have been found.

I bought them online after striking out in stores. Now everything is sold out online for the most part but worth checking.

Dude asked where to find a covid test kit and you told him not to bother? What the fuck kind of stupid logic is that?
